Review Ex Lion Tamer - Bendigo

Great coffee! I had the Avocado on toast and my daughter had poached eggs on toast. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked. The avocado on toast was incredibly delicious. Great friendly service that included strict Covid protocols. We appreciated the fact that we had to return to get one of our phones in order to have our Vax Cert checked.

Service, atmosphere, coffee, food…. all perfect! Seriously could not fault anything. Probably the best coffee in Bendigo and the food was just as good. Highly recommended! And so close and convenient to the Bendigo Marketplace.

Bendigo is known for its good food but stumbling across Nude Food Breakfast Bar by chance had me stunned. In terms of interior design - the space is clean accompanied by modern, furnishing that have purpose. The choice of colours are perfectly placed to present a vibrant place to eat and socialise. The menu is extensive, providing both solid sweet and savoury options. The group I was with split our options, some having burgs and chips, others picking the sweet waffles. I must admit all boxes where checked off on both presentation and overall taste. Everything on the plate has purpose and the correct texture combination. The waffles in my opinion can always be a hit or a miss. With so many sweet things happening all at once you can easily miss the mark and it can become quite sickly. Nude Food know what they are doing. Striking a perfect balance to highlight all elements Sweet or Savoury. The coffee was heaven. The staff were welcoming, friendly and knew what they were doing. Price point wise. Nude Food Bar is an overall experience. The price reflects this through both quality produce and taste. If you are looking for a $3 burnt flat white. This might not be for you. Great work guys! Can't wait to come back.

Convenient location, nice modern setting inside, attentive service, food tasted ok , had better takeaway from supermarket, the portion sizes were more appropriate for a small child (10 pieces of gnocchi , dried out pumpkin) and the Thai salad was bland. 2 x coffee's 2 x lunches $47- would we go again ? No.

This is one of my favourite places to eat in Bendigo. Today i loved the poached eggs, done perfectly. The mushrooms were too salty for me cooked in miso. The cherry tomatoes were lovely and sweet. The Goats cheese rich and tasty. The hollandaise sauce was bland today, not enough vinegar or mustard or both. The Avocado was perfect and really tasty with toasted seeds. Sourdough bread as expected. A little chewy for my liking, but a good bread all the same.

Quick and tasty! I took my partner here for breakfast. We were seated right away, although the place being packed. The environment was clean and staff were quick to help us order. The food came out extremely quick as well as the drinks. I’d say the coffee is good, no need to add sugar and the chocolate milkshake was delicious. The waffles seemed strange but were fresh, taste and unique. We will be back.

Went for breakfast after working nightshift, meals were great and of good size. Coffee was amazing. Staff were friendly, not pushy like some places. Place was clean and well presented. Very nice, will definitely be going back.

I've been eating breakfast 'out' at restaurants and cafes for over 30 years. After that much time, I assumed I had already eaten the best breakfast I would ever eat. I was wrong. Ex Lion Tamer in Bendigo just blew my mind. EVERYTING was brilliant. From the tunes (Prince), the friendly but efficient service, the coffee, even the bloody Mary (made with tomato plasma (!) and tea as well as vodka and Spice) The food was stunningly good. Local fresh produce given a modern original twist while still being traditional enough to not be jarring. Everything on my plate (and there were many things) was perfect. I kept expecting something, anything, to be less than ideal. My expectations wre dashed. After eating I was in a kind of shock that something could be so wonderful. You know that I can be very flippant, but this stilled me. Think about that. I feel extremely grateful to have had this experience. I think this is why I have never wanted to die. Everytime you think you have had the best of existance, something amazing just stops you in your tracks. Life is an experience and it is full, so very full. As am I now. xxx

I have eaten at nearly every cafe in bendigo, this one is next level. Fabulous staff, attentive and friendly. Fantastic fresh and fragrant food that we didn't have to wait to long for . A wonderful modern yet cosy atmosphere. And fantastic coffee, one of the best I have had in bendigo. What a wonderful addition to the bendigo food scene!

Worst experience I have ever had. I was yelled at as a customer, by one of the owners. YELLED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not go here. The owner Tim is a horrible bully who stood over me, my partner and baby and yelled at me. Here is the whole story- we went in and ordered coffee. After which we ordered some breakfast. I ordered the museli which I instantly regretted and went to ask if I could change my order. I was told that they would have already made it so no. Which I thought was odd as he didn’t check. Anyway 10 Minutes pass and then we get our food. I’m annoyed by this stage as the amount of time which lapsed would suggest that there was time to change my order, anyway I tell another waiter that I’m annoyed by this, as it would seem that there was time for me to change my order ( I’ve asked my hospitality friends and they’ve said from the outset I should have been allowed as I asked straight after placing the order and generally they don’t make things like this when ordered with hot food, so as to not make it soggy, makes sense really) anyway he apologises and all is well. Anyway Tim comes barrelling over yelling and accusing me that I called him a liar, that he did check with the kitchen ( certainly not when I was present, so god knows when???? ) that he is good at his job ( obviously not) that I had an attitude ( I was annoyed, so perhaps, but I’m also polite and well brought up, so it would not have been overly obvious) and that he shouldn’t have to pay for the food??????? Anyway we were stunned and also really upset. We were tourists to the region and we were a young family with a small baby. The whole thing was very, very scary.
