Review The Exchange Bendigo - Bendigo

Great atmosphere and vibe at this place. Food is exceptional and the beer selection is interesting and delicious. Ideal for functions or parties with a room that can be closed off for privacy or left open for larger get togethers. It has a classy look but a casual laid back feel. I highly recommend you stop in ad give the place a try.

Popped in for a couple of Cooper's from the tap. The Cooper's dark was very average. Tasted flat & totally lifeless. Not sure what the go was with the tap. The menu did look quite reasonable .. the setting is very open & quite modern decking feel. Staff were young & attentive. Seems nice but I'd defs go something else other than the very flat coopers dark.

Hard to review a restaurant on xmas day as it is not a good indication on the quality of the meals and service. Staff were run off their feet but kept a smile on their faces all day. As expected service was very slow at times but overall it was a nice atmosphere and lovely to spend time with family .

Our committee recently held a function for 25 attendees at the Exchange, and we couldn't be happier with the service, food, and facilities. Nothing was too much trouble, the equipment worked perfectly, and the food was delicious. Thank you, we will be back.

Friendly people, nice food and fair prices. But the venue was cold, service on our particular evening was clumsy and forgetful albeit kind and contrite. Overall a nice restaurant and staff that was let down by many small venue issues

Nice open restaurant with modern cuisine, a good beer selection. Very busy and popular at night. Great spot for weekend brunch.

Travelled to Bendigo today and had lunch at The Exchange (not my first visit here). I ordered their Penne Carbonara for $22.00, it was cooked well and served steaming hot within 15 minutes of ordering and the various flavours were great, I also loved the added unique touch of the poached egg on top making it a step above just another pasta dish. The service provision was excellent by the Manager Paul along with his waitress Karlia. This eatery has a bright & cheery atmosphere helped by the modern background music which was at a level that could be heard over easily.

The Juror's Verdict: Food 4.75/5, Service Provision 4.75/5, Will I return: Definitely

Phill Jury (food critic & writer)

One of the most disappointing lunch I've had in a long time
The long wait on top of lack of communication was a terrible start
The entrees came out with the mains
Some of the mains weren't edible
The burgers however were ok
From 11 eaters only 3 were happy
Not a good percentage
Won't be back and I've ever done a bad review

On a cold winters day my vegetarian and I headed north for the not so sleepy town of Bendigo, and the tables of the Exchange, housed in the Bendigo Bank building next to the creek boardwalk. It's a very clean space, polished concrete floors and severe tables with a well stocked bar and wine list.

Lunch with friends was pleasant, the pulled pork burger was spicy and flavoursome while the special pork cutlets were also tender and tasty. My vegetarian made do with a three cheese arancini plate l, nestled on pools of garlic aioli, something we thought might have been better if substituted for a spicy relish to cut through the creaminess of the dish overall.

The food was nice, the service was attentive, but the atmosphere seemed a little bleak. We were warm and comfortable, but the vast expanses of class along the edge of the dining area that backed onto a public square made the whole feel of the restaurant quite exposed and quite cold, despite the heating. I will return in a few months to see what the Exchange holds for the summer punter out of an evening drink and snack.

If you're in the neighbourhood, give it a try, otherwise, maybe wait for summer.
Where do I start. We ordered the salmon and it came out covered in hollandaise to mask the discoloured fillet. My burger looked good until my wife pointed out the long hair on the plate. Needles to say we walked out without finishing. We didn't want to risk having a coffee there either. This establishment is meant to be fine dining but it has a long way to go.

There's just something not right about this place. For somewhere that touts itself as 'fine dining' it doesn't really shape up. The staff are nice enough I guess, the food is average, the drinks are nothing special. The furniture is disgustingly run down, the acoustics are horrible. I'd go for a quick drink on my way into town but nothing more.

Lovely meal. We ( a group of 8) went to the The Exchange tonight and we all had a fabulous meal. The staff were very friendly. We would eat here again and recommend it others. Very nice

Two friends and I had lunch here today . Staff were friendly and attentive . Lunch menu was simple . We had a pumpkin salad . And Thai fish cakes , the fish cakes were a little dry and needed maybe lemon or aioli . The coffees were delishious and desserts were nice , but the banana bonoffee had toffee on top that was impossible to eat . Otherwise a pleasent experience .
