Best pies we've had in the 6 years we've been travelling.
The bottom pastry was crisp and thin - but not so thin it fell apart - the top puff pastry was perfect and the filling, just the right consistency and the taste of the pepper and the curry pies was spot on. No sauce or knife and fork needed!

Simply the best pies in Bendigo using fresh beef daily and a time honoured recipe. The Coffee is excellent, the staff are well informed and keen to help. Very user friendly for children with an excellent play area outside.
After a bit of retail therapy it's nice to get a bite and milkshake.
We ordered,
Steak and mushroom pie 10/10
Potato top pie 9/10
Chocolate milkshake 10/10
Environment was nice, chilled, lots of seats and a laid back area.
Service was quick and friendly.
Food was fresh and perfectly cooked, no hard pastry and the meat inside was hot and flavorful.
I am happy with this place and will definitely drop in again when in Bendigo
Chunky Onion is exactly what it says. Chunky with beef. Chunky with onion. Chunks of beef were so big I wonder how they fit them in there.

We did some clothes shopping earlier today, afterwards we stopped off here for some lunch. I decided on the traditional pie, my mother on the pastie. The pie was tasty, exactly as I expected. Well it is traditional after all. Service was brisk and friendly. We also got some sweets to take home for my father as he's got a sweet tooth. Will definitely be back again.
Went on Anzac day and the place was pretty busy. Party sausage roll was really nice, partner enjoyed his meat pie. Also ordered a pastie, drink & donut combo ($7). Pastie was nice but contained what looked like meat? (Vegetarians/ vegans may want to check before purchasing) Donut was nice. Service pretty much what can I get you, in & out type. Seating both inside and out. Overall - enjoyed this place & would recommend.

A good take on the tuck shop. A mate and I popped in here for coffee and pies the other day. Bendigo Original Pie Shop pulls a decent flat white, and I like the fact that you can get it in a mug rather than a resource-wasting paper cup. They've got the usual assortment of Aussie breakfast pastries, and I enjoyed my caramel slice. It put me in mind of the Nanaimo bars I'd eat whilst living in West Coast Canada, only minus the coconut in the filling. My mate had no complaints about his Lamington, either -- the Original Pie Shop does well with traditional Aussie sweet things.
Whenever I see a pastie in a display case, I'm tempted to try it, because I used to live in part of the Great Lakes region of the U.S. where pasties are almost a religion. Bendigo Pie Shop makes a decent version. The crust is not too tough, there's an adequate amount of shreddy beef bits inside (rather than mince) and it doesn't taste of boiled onion like some nasty pasties I've had. I can see why this place has survived for longer than I've been alive, no matter what it's named this decade.
