District brewer was the perfect start to our Sunday morning. The roast breakfast option was a great choice, nothing like I’ve had before. I am a big fan of saganaki and it was very fitting with the meal. Not to mention the pumpkin loaf was sooo tasty! The freshly squeezed orange juice tied the meal together.
We came to this cafe on a Sunday for brunch. The service was excellent and friendly. I ordered a hot chocolate which was searing hot (don’t you hate it when a lukewarm hot choc hits the table) and was very chocolatey with a fluffy mashmallow. I also ordered the Mexican which was a fritter with cheese in it on top of a bed of corn and avocado salsa, sour cream and habanero scrambled eggs. The eggs were spicy and fluffy and corn and avocado salsa had a nice flavour. The flavour of the fritter was quite subtle and I couldn’t tell what it was made of but when I hit the centre of the fritter that cheese pull was amazing. My partner’s breakfast roast was a very generous serve of veggies on top of pumpkin loaf with poached eggs but it just needed a dressing/sauce to tie the flavours together. A good place for brunch.
Set in the backstreets of Bentleigh, District Brewers is as much a community hub, as it is a steadfast café.
Named after the road on which it’s perched upon, this local café has a well established reputation for great food and coffee made only from fresh produce. A recent revamp of the menu saw the introduction of cocktails, permitting the pairing of breakfast with a Bloody Mary, or wine with lunch.
Being winter, I had to go with the Breakfast Roast; a warming stack of roast beetroots, baby carrots, saganaki, poached eggs, and pumpkin loaf. My fellow hunter wanted the vegan option, so the Nourish Bowl was the pick of the bunch with its spiced pumpkin puree, black rice, turmeric crisps, vegan feta, roast beets, and avo. We washed brunch down with a Pinot Noir from Emilian, Yarra Valley. A fruit driven and vibrant red, handcrafted with minimal intervention. Just how I like my wine.
One word. Amazing. Amazing food. Amazing service. Great little spot in Bentleigh. Every dish served at our table was delicious! Definitely going to go back!

Hubby brought home a Super Salad for lunch one day and I really, really enjoyed it. The dressing was a little too oily and it even soaked into the takeaway box quite a bit but the flavour was still good. Loved the pomegranate and broccoli and I added grilled chicken to the order, which was a generous portion.
Nice lunch, I would like to dine-in next time we are in the area.

Went here last Sunday with my mate. The cafe was busy around 11 o'clock but didn't have to wait long for a table. I got a reuben and my mate got a beef burger. The beef in the reuben was a bit salty for my taste but the beef burger was really fulfilling and juicy. The coffees were fantastic in the cold weather, couldn't help myself but getting a second one!
The Super Salad from District Brewer is such a beautifully balanced dish. Heaps of delish greens and grains topped with perfectly grilled halloumi! I think this might just be Bentleigh’s best salad 🥗
Had a late lunch here and it was fantastic! The Chilli Chicken burger is a must try. There is an all new menu and wine list. I tried the Pino and the Shiraz and they were both devine! (Oh and not to mention a sneaky craft beer or two which were equally as impressive).
Service was great- staff are very attentive and go the extra mile to make sure your experience is a memorable one.
Ambience is just what you'd hope for on a chilled out Saturday afternoon :-)

Came here for breaky yesterday to try their new menu and boy did it deliver! I had the mushroom medley on rye. Coffee was on point as usual too. Didn’t wait long for a table either considering how busy they were. Good job guys !

Stumbled across this neighbourhood cafe and we had a latte, flat white and prana Chai. Coffee was very good. The chai could have been a bit sweeter and in smaller cups.

We came on what we thought would be a quiet Friday morning but what we didn't notice was that there was a school opposite and it was like all the mother's came here after dropping off their kids for a catch up session. It was quite loud and busy. It did take a little wait for staff to notice us after which we were told to take any seat. We had the mexican breakfast and eggs benedict. It was an interesting take on the eggs benedict which used a rather large hash brown as a base...helps to fill you up I guess. Easy on the mexican breakfast if you don't prefer spicy/hot because the scrambled eggs on top was very much that. Customer service was alright.
Came here after a recommendation from my son, well it didn’t disappoint with great food & coffee. Enjoyed the Eggs Benedic & my partner had the fruit hot cake, coffees were on point.
The hot cakes are a must try. I had the Benedict, I felt the pork was a tad dry and the hash brown too oily. Having said that a solid cafe with great coffee and I’ll be back. They were super busy so can’t blame them for minor flaws.
Came here for a weekend brunch and it was pumping. Highlights included the Mexican breakfast, fruit hot cakes and giant mugs of coffee. Topped with friendly and attentive service.
Always can rely on this cafe to serve up a good brunch. The food is always tasty and the service is also great. Even if it is a busy morning, thy are usually able to sort out a table relatively quickly.

Most of the staff is very friendly save for one blonde waitress (who seem to have been annoyed by our presence).

"Mexican Breakfast"
This dish was unique and incredible. So tasty and all the ingredients enhanced each other. Although the avocado was a little brown which was disappointing. The service was really good and the place had a nice vibe to it. Would definitely recommend going for a good meal.
Although I am not a teenager no more, this lovely cafe is giving me young, bright energy every time I visit. I remember when they first open, the loud music and hip foods just a bit too much for me but nowadays you can forget all that. The food is now back to earth and beautifully presented. Loud music was gone I hope it’s everyday 😊 and their service is great. My dishes are Benny, Granola and Waffles.... of course with my beautiful long black as well. I sometimes love to avoid the crowd , District Brewer is perfect for me to go and if you live around Bentleigh or Brighton, give this cafe a shot. Highly recommended 👍
Went here for a late lunch with my sister. I love the fact that they are not only human friendly, but also dog friendly. Lovely service!
I was hoping to get the eggs bene with crispy pork belly, but they changed their menus, so i had the eggs bene with pulled pork and apple slaw instead. It was pretty darn good! The hash was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The eggs were runny, and the hollandaise sauce were light and creamy at the same time.
My sister got their burgers, it was huge! She loved it!

Outstanding. Their coffee game is strong, with both the espresso and cold drip absolutely delicious. The food is interesting and really really tasty. The ham hock and pea soup was a generous size, and full of ham. The super salad is also a winner, fresh and tasty. Great spot.

I had the Mexican omelette. Could've been better, lime would've been a better garnish, the egg wasn't fully seasoned overall. The chips I thought we're a bit out of place but the beef, cheese, and guac centre was good.
The eggs benny with pork belly was pretty good. The house-made hash was crunchy, pork belly was soft and moist, eggs poached well, and hollandaise complemented the dish. Though DB has to really set the game higher with their pork rind.
There's some room for improvement and they also offer a cheeseburger. I may have to come back for that.

The District Brewer is a very well presented cafe in a quiet location which allows for ease of parking.
Bright comfortable seating.

Popped in on Easter Sunday for a first rate coffee and arguably the world's greatest doughnut: almond and vanilla, light and full of flavour. Went back for lunch a few days later. I had the chicken Waldorf sandwich which is old fashioned doorstop slices of white bread filled with a crisp and creamy Waldorf. My friend had the sautéed mushrooms cooked in wine and cream with poached eggs, served with a crunchy polenta wedge. Sadly they were out of doughnuts but it was 3pm and I was just being greedy (but they are SO good). With two coffees our lunch bill came to $42. Bentleigh residents must be delighted to have such a good cafe on their doorstep.
I'm really loving these great new cafe's that are popping up in the middle of suburban Melbourne, including this new brunch spot on Bentleigh's Brewer Road.

How to review a great cafe -- which I didn't like very much?
Many people will love this little coffee and breakfast place. Just not me.
I'd driven past a number of times on my way to the Nepean Highway and the tables on the footpath seemed always bustling and lively. Better advertising than a sandwich board. I've been meaning to try it out.
The staff were friendly, felt unhurried, and awfully efficient. My extra hot large flat white arrived within what seemed like three minutes. I like my coffee but I can't claim to be a coffee gourmand of refined taste. You would love it.
What didn't I like? But which you may love ...
The supreme mushroom eggs dish arrived ... in a dish! This smallish high-sided dish on a serviette on a plate felt a bit awkward and affected to me. Nevertheless tasty, and might I say healthy.
The tables out back -- which was atmospheric bordering on the side street with a gentle breeze through high windows -- all seemed to have metal chairs. Mine didn't even have a back on it. Great for practising good posture, though. My stay was 26 minutes. I just don't appreciate metal stools, unless I've been dining on ball bearings.
And as I approached the cafe along that side street I could hear the joyful sounds of people eating and drinking out the back.
Look, everyone there looked happy and delighted. Just not me. So ignore my negatives, just as I try to, and try it out.
Great service with a smile, and a great range of menu options. I had a delicious super food salad, which was around $16. It was a large serving size and they didn't charge extra for the haloumi on top. You can get salmon or chicken added for a small fee. Coffees were great, seating areas both indoors and outdoors- all comfortable. Staff were happy to split bill. Will be back for sure!
I live close to this cafe and finally got around to trying it on the weekend. Wandered in around 2pm for a late lunch. It was a bit difficult finding a clean table inside so we headed out the back where it is was also somewhat quieter. Service was friendly and prompt. My wife ordered the chicken burger which was good but the chicken could have been seasoned a bit better. I had the beef burger which was very tasty, if a little messy. All-in-all a good place in Bentleigh to come for breakfast or lunch and we will be back soon.
On trend but understated, with beautiful friendly young things serving best coffee in Bentleigh. Food is great. Omelette, pork belly benedict and Chia pudding all fab.

Was fairly busy early on a Sunday morning when we went, and service was energetic and happy. Service was quick, and food came out fairly quickly.
Bebz loved the mushroom d'lux, but I personally think my dish could have gone for more chili. But then again, I'm an absolute chili fiend, so maybe don't take my word on that one. Eggs perfectly poached - oozing yolk 👌
Really good ambience, and beautifully presented food. Coffee and chai was also really great. Absolute gem in Bentleigh off the main shopping strip.
DO: The eggs Benny, Mexican cheeseburger and I can't believe I'm saying this, given that I'm Vietnamese, the Vietnamese burger.
DON'T: You dare leave without ordering a cup of coffee. The coffees here are on point. If you don't want any of the suggestions up top, ask Elliot or the friendly staff and they'll sort you out.
TIP: If sharing, let the wait staff know. The awesome executive chef will split the serving in two to avoid messy splits at the table. Classy!
I was out on the road and stubbled upon this little gem. The coffee was great extracted perfectly. I'll be sure to drop in for lunch when I have more time on my hands. Well done guys keep up the good work✌🏼️
Came here nice and early on a public holiday and got to choose a nice table out the back. Friendly welcome paired with attentive service. I ordered the greens super salad and added chicken; it was yum but I personally would've liked a bigger meal with more of a greens to grains ratio, I also would've liked a little more chicken. But it was an all round good dish. I think my boyfriend ordered eggs or a big breakfast and added a number of sides which cost him a fortune but it was big enough which was good. We sat at the table for a while afterward and we're not rushed which was nice. Will be back.
We hit the JACKPOT!!!!! I wanted to try this place for awhile but nothing off the menu never really grabbed me. They changed it as of yesterday and I'm so glad they did. Started with a long black which was perfect! Right amount of water. Not too much and not to little. Coffee very flavoursome and smooth. I ordered the broccolinni and prawn on smashed peas all I have to say is YES YES YES!!!! Just enough crunch from the snowpeas and brocolinni a sprinkling of quinoa through the mixed with PERFECTLY 👌🏽 cooked prawn all on top of a smear of smashed peas with a hint of mint through it. The touch of chilli 🌶 through it was brilliant!!! This was a total hit. Hubby had the eggs bene which he liked but found that it was quite heavy for a morning with full on flavours. I on the other hand thought it was amazing! This is a must try cafe hidden away in bentleigh. All staff were lovely and very hipster. Can not wait to come back!!!
Love the food here! It's so yummy and everything is 100% instagram worthy which is a huge plus! Staff are lovely and it's really vibrant but in a quiet area.
Have only ever had positive experiences here. We've brought in friends and family as well, and the food has always been delicious. In particular the mushroom d'luxe is my fave on a chilly winters morning and my partner is pretty keen on both the Benedict & Mexican breakfasts.
As an added bonus, they make the best golden latte I've had to date, hands down. As someone who misses her daily coffee (so much!) it's great to have an alternative that's actually really tasty and not priced off the charts.

So happy to have stopped here. Ordered their chicken burger, special of the beef burger and a side of chips. Both burgers were outstanding! And their peanut butter pretzel slice was a must try. Loved the outdoor seating, location of the place and how attentive and friendly the staff were. Would highly recommend

Quiet peaceful location way from Main Street Bentleigh, walk inside to pumping tunes and ultra cool ultra nice tatoo clad young staff all in black. The cafe has a grungy vibe. My husband and I loved it. Food was great serious food: manly burgers, reuben sandwiches (of course equally fit for a queen) and Vietnamese iced coffee was the 💣👌
Brunching. Will have to return for more food. Menu was a great variety. The cold forest floor oats looked sooo pwetty on the plate but it's an acquired taste. Was not something I'd keep going back for. The soldiers with vegemite is great if you love vegemite. The burger with slow cooked pork neck was really good - my husband finished the whole thing. Staff were great - very friendly and accommodating. Great awesome coffees too.
Came here a few weeks back. I ordered a salad and my girlfriends orders the Reuben sandwich and toast with bacon and avo. Let's not get into the toast with bacon and avo. That says enough for itself.
My friend enjoyed the Reuben. It was just right to her liking. The salad however, wasn't doing any justice for me. It got a sickening after a few mouth fulls. I couldn't exactly grasp what didn't work with it. Whether it was the dressing or what was in the salad. I'm not sure, but I definitely wasn't enjoying this dish. The service however is great. They forgot our chai latte so they took that off the bill which was very nice of them and unexpected.

Good little find, very close to home. Had the Mexican breakfast which did not disappoint. Included all my favourite things. Eggs, salsa, avo.. What more could you want? Great combination of textures and the perfect amount of spice. Really enjoyed my meal and my friend was happy with hers as well. Coffee and staff are both lovely

Both dishes were absolutely delicious and satisfying. I cannot even think of anything negative when it came to this brunch date. My partner and I enjoyed the food and cleaned our plates cleaned. Highly recommend both dishes; it was the first time that I had my French toast very warm and it made the dish a million times more satisfying than it already was! For the Mexican breakfast, mix all the ingredients together for the perfect taste and bursts of flavours.
One of our favourite local brunch spots (and there are heaps to try in the area) but we keep going back to District Brewer for the consistently great coffee, friendly staff and a menu that combines all the brunch classics with a dash of flair. Hard to pick just one favourite, but the Black Forest Bircher is pretty wonderful!
Stopped by at this beautiful cafe on my way to Brighton beach. It's actually pretty close to the beach. We had mushrooms d'luxe and southern fried chicken burger. Both were super delicious. However the Mexican breakfast was disappointing, smashed avocado had turned dark when served. It looked unappealing. Chai latte by District Brewer is highly recommended

Coffee was average. Food presentation was good. The burgers were delicious with generous serving of shoe string fries. Mr Benedict was ok, nice tender beef cheeks, with interesting curry hollandaise sauce.
I find the ambience better than the food.

I come here at least once a week, it wasn't love at first sight but this place is now a favourite. Great breakfast dishes, quality coffee , the staff is sometimes too relaxed but then again this is what is so fun about this place.
Came here for brunch with friends and we had such a great time! Staff are friendly and eager to please, and the food is beyond delicious. Do try their take on the classic eggs benedict and the Mexican eggs! Amazing!
We have been there today, we order three dishes for share. Black Forest Bircher was very nice! However the Pear yogurt is not good enough, the nuts taste not fresh.

Had my first visit here this morning, the Mexican breakfast was delicious. Loaded with cheese and avocado, so you can't really go wrong! However service was slow, we waited a long time to order before finally the variety noticed us waiting and told one of the wait staff to take our order. When our meals did arrive, mine was delicious but they forgot my friend's avocado side. They did bring it out but we atill had very high expectations of DB after friend reviews. They serve Prana chai for their chai latte :) Weirdly, you can buy DB "merch" t-shirts. Ha. Food is delicious, service could be better.

Came for brunch on Easter Monday, we had to wait 40 minutes after which we we seated outside (we wanted inside but the wait would be even longer).

Went to this place when it first opened to try it out. The food was delicious and the menu offered some really interesting items to try. Although the food is fantastic the reason I go back there almost every week is the great service. You can tell that everyone who works there loves what they do and they are all keen for a chat but are definitely not in your face in any way. The coffee is equally as amazing as the food. So good I even buy their beans for my own coffee machine at home. Overall great food, great coffee, great people and overall awesome atmosphere!

I ordered the Kastu Burger and my boyf got the D/Burger.
Nothing better than ordering something that is true to its name, it was not a knock off Katsu. Finally!! The (Katsu) Burger; with crispy chicken, curried sauce, pickled ginger and a slaw all on a brioche bun, i opted to add fries. Was a winner, the D'Burger looked just as good. I was lucky enough to grab a quick snap before my personal burger enthusiast and boyfriend devoured every last bite.
Loved the vibe of the place. Their menu is one of the biggest reasons as to why they are becoming a must go in the South Eastern Suburbs. All the classics but with an unusual twist, experimental. If you're open minded i'd recommend you give it a whirl..
Had brunch here today. This was a nice little local cafe with good food, service and coffee. Service was quick and friendly. I got the katsu burger, and my boyfriend got the Mexican breakfast. Both were tasty and filling. We will definitely come back again.
A cute little cafe, the courtyard has a nice atmosphere. Had the smashed avocado and the mexican style breakfast which were both tasty. Ordered the red and green juice, they tasted very average and were tiny for the price. I think they aren't made fresh. This cafe needs to offer some smoothies. Was over-charged by $10 at the end, told them this after I paid but they only gave me $5 back. Would go back but not in a rush
Having heard great thanks about District Brewer I was not disappointed. The coffee here is fantastic, some of the best in Bentleigh. While the menu is not extensive the porridge I order was deliciously different coming in quite a large portion it provided a twist to the usual mundane tastes associated with porridge. The service, decor and atmosphere all enhance the cafes friendliness making it more than welcome. The fries my girlfriend and I shared were nothing spectacular but were enjoyed as nibbles. Her eggs were again similar, nothing special but hit the spot.
If you're look for a quick coffee, District Brewer's is exceptional.
Both the food and coffee here is nice. Usually not too busy on weekdays, so nice for an afternoon meet up with some friends. Staff could be more attentive, but generally speaking the service is acceptable.
This is one of my favourite places to go. The menu is exciting and is a welcome change from most of the dated cafes in the area. The staff are always friendly, and the coffee and food is delicious. A++ District Brewer!

Foods and drinks always as good as i've normally had. I love the Sautéed mushroom on sourdough so bad. Coffee is ok except the vietnamese ice coffee. Good services too.
Do yourself a favour and drop by the District Brewer. Friendly staff, great coffee and awesome food. Seriously is a hidden gem and one place I always drop by when in the area, be it just for a coffee or something to eat also. Keep up the great work team!
Every meal I have had here has been pleasant, and I'll continue to come back, but there always seems to be one element that lets the meal down. The coffee is good but if they're pumping out a lot it can take longer than normal to get as there only seems to be one barista but service is always good and they are apologetic for all waits.

Wow I loved the burger selection, it was overwhelming. A young pretty blonde served me and she was just delightful. Her smile was warm and it made the made taste so much better! Will definitely return for another serotonin hit!

This fantastic suburban cafe ticks all the boxes: delicious food, super friendly staff, bright and cheery atmosphere. I strongly recommend visiting District Brewer as soon as possible while there are still no lines during peak time. Oh that Black Forest Bircher…I cannot wait to have it again.
Love this place. Best coffee going around the area. Really different / unique menu for brunch. Working through it but just can't go past the Rueben (one of the best in Melb). The team working here are really friendly, attentive and absolutely no attitude! Would consider relocating to be closer.
This place is awesome, i had a variation of eggs benedict i had was the best ive ever come across, coffee was decent too....... my new local
Had "The Benedict" and "The mushroom Benedict" both tasted awesome and definatley recommend. One other thing was their kids pancake, it's one of the most fluffy pancakes I've had before - it was completely finished up by my child - wish I ordered some for myself.
Friendly service. Nice coffee, we like our a touch stronger but would definitely come back. Nice atmosphere too.
Amazing experience! Service lighted up our day! Food was incredible and drinks were delivered super quickly. I would recommend this guys to everyone. We even had a problem with our bill that we just noticed later on and they were just amazing on helping us. 100/10

The food was great, coffee was average. I had the grain salad and was very happy with it. Overall worth checking out if you're in the neighbourhood!
Lovely cafe across the street from one of the primary schools. Great place to go before/after school starts. The staff is built up of kind and funny people who make you feel like you’re right at home. The food is great and they have hands down the best iced lattes I’ve had. Definitely worth a visit in the Bentleigh area.
