Dim sims here are the best In Melbourne. Nothing else I have had here is great but I keep going back for the dim sims.
I have been going for over 20 years and it is the same owner. Always amazing food. Love the salt and pepper squid and rainbow beef. Do yourself a favour and eat here.
Often come here for birthdays and other celebrations. Very nice staff and delicious food at a reasonable price. They do very good spring rolls, lemon chicken and sizzling mongolian beef.
This has been one of my family's and my favourite Chinese restaurant. We've been coming here for years and also get takeaway as well.
The decor is nice and typically Chinese. There's a wall dividing those sitting waiting for their takeaway and those in the restaurant which is good so you don't have people watching you while you eat. However, the toilets are down a dimly lit back alley past the kitchen which is a bit spooky - try and hold on till you get home!!!!
I ordered the Vegetarian Lettuce Delight, Rice Paper Duck Rolls and Chicken Rolls and Vegetarian Spring Rolls for entrée plus the Chicken Long Soup. All of it was great - but the standouts were the Lettuce delight which was fresh, crunchy and so tasty. The duck rolls are to die for packed with flavour and full of duck and mushrooms. They can be on the oily side but who cares! The Spring Rolls are piping hot, crunchy and great with the sweet chilli dipping sauce. For main I had my favourite dish from here which is the Honey Glazed Duck. It's is listed under the Chef's recommendations. Crispy skin, deboned and lots of delicious sauce on a bed of Bok Choy or sometimes I change it and have it with Snow Peas. Other dishes that are worth considering are their Satay sticks, Crispy Rainbow Beef and Cantonese Fillet Steak. There are the usual Chinese desserts and the Pineapple Fritters are pretty good.
Takeaway or eat in - it's great either way and you always get complimentary prawn chips as well.
As usual, I was more than happy with my experience - they never let me down.
Seven Starts has been a long time favourite of mine. The family who own and run this place are passionate about the quality of their food, and the relationships with their customers.
Entrees:
The Dim Sims and Spring Rolls are fantastic! If you're a fan of a sweeter dim sim, I believe these are the best in town.
Soups:
The Short soup is very nice. The soup itself has a strong base (not too weak). The dumplings are delicious, and plentiful.
Mains:
The sizzling dishes are the best. Especially my most recent chicken, ginger and veggies.
Noodle and rice dishes are great also.
I don’t particularly like the other stir fry's - only because I find them a bit watery.
Service:
I found the service to be outstanding, and friendly. Without being a regular, they still know my preferences to dishes (especially entrees).
Just had take away have be.... Just had take away have
been driving past it for 20 years never
Was amazingly good lovely service i will be back thank you
Impressed. PROS: Best Chinese joint I've been to in a long time. Friendly and efficient service, impeccable food and all for a very economical price. Has a lovely relaxing family atmosphere. Is definitely a keeper!
CONS: Went on a Saturday night and the place was packed so was a bit of a wait but was well worth it.
Additionally, the waitress who served us was extremely pleasant - didn't try to oversell and made the dinner very accommodating.
Food was great! Friendly staff, reasonably priced, will be going back again!
Seven stars. The dumplings are sooo delicious......also, I can highly recommend the honey duck.yumm
Have been coming here for thirty years - still love the food the service and the great service
Service was quick and the food was absolutely delicious. The presentation was beautiful, extravagant but still modest. Fried Icecream has always been a favourite dish of mine and this place did not disappoint.
Looking at the other dishes being served, I’m sure the other customers were very pleased with their food! Everything looked so amazing, and I loved seeing the food come out still sizzling and hot.
The servers were very polite, talkative and friendly. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone :D
We visited today on Mother’s Day, the service was very personable especially wishing us a happy Mother’s Day on arrival. One thing we can’t stand is when a waitress takes all your order down in their head without pen and paper only for them get it wrong but the lady that served us was impressive. She remembered everything! The food was nice although the fried rice was a bit bland, it was forgotten with the delicious banana fritter. Top service and would visit again.
Hands down the best dim sims in Melbourne. They may be a bit smaller than your average Marathon or SMM but that just means you can eat more! Do yourself a favour.
We had lunch for two here today (Tuesday). The restaurent was empty except for ourselves, but there were a few takeout orders over the time of our stay.
We ordered from the daily specials board and asked if there were any other kitchen specials. Deepfried dumplings, a dimsum steamed assortment, herbed fried whitebait, steamed rice and wasabi beef with julienned vegetables, were recommended to us by the charming, helpful and well informed hostess, and so we chose.
Every single mouthful was absolutely delicious.
To be honest we were a little surprised by the seriously excellent quality of each dish. Even the jasmine tea was of high quality and most refreshing. Everthing arrived piping hot, and mouth wateringly aromatic, each ingredient fresh and clear on the palate, either with a complementary dipping sauce, or in it's cooking juices. We greedily ate every last molecule. The dishes we ordered were exactly the right number and variety to provide a very satisfying meal. But we were so eager to taste each dish that we forgot to take photos of our first three choices.
This modest restaurent sits very unobtrusively in a strip mall in East Bentleigh, on Centre Road, near the corner of Tucker Street, and neither of us had heard of it before. It was a very lucky off the cuff choice.
Total cost was $64.
There is absolutely no doubt that we will make the Seven Stars a regular part of our eat in and takeout schedule. This is definitely a neighbourhood gem.
Great traditional Chinese food served with a smile.
The pork dim sims are THE best I have had.
A hidden gem in Bentleigh East our first take away won't be our last meal from here. Our choices Seven Star Special Awesome choice, Pork Ribs in special sauce yummy, Peking prawns WOW that sauce and a special fried rice. Having tried nearly all the Chinese restaurants in Hampton, Sandringham and Bentleigh East this is a stand out and well worth a visit
