I think we've found our go to Japanese now! Tried heaps of them over the years - can't fault this one. Presentation is lovely - simple, not fussy, lovely earthenware crockery pieces, stylish! Staff are so helpful and always alert and smiling and happy to assist. The menu is so extensive that if I had to fault something, I'd say it is a tad hard to navigate because of choice and possibly the layout of the tri-fold back/front menu style. The food on offer is magic. Sort of borderline Fusion. There's something to please every palate and everything is done with attention to detail. The most divine melt in the mouth salmon carpaccio I've ever encountered. I could simply order 5 dishes of that and have nothing else. Prices not high and not low - very fair for produce that is being served.
Beautiful Sushi, so fresh and tasty! The Teriyaki Salmon melts in your mouth. Super fast service, best Sushi around by far! Superior to chain store Sushi
A lovely, cozy, local Japanese restaurant that gives off a high end feel. There is lot of variety and all the dishes are presented very nicely. Last time I ordered a chicken bento which was reasonably priced, filling and delicious.
I always love coming here, great atmosphere, classy restaurant space and great food! Their dons and bentos are amazing and can be perfect for takeaway, and their okonomiyaki is delicious! I usually get takeaway and the max I've waited was 15 minutes and that was for a few meals. I have 0 qualms with this place, the workers are very kind and welcoming
I go here regularly as it's a great resturant. Its by far one of the best in bentliegh. The sushi here is amazing and new types pop up now and then. I personally recommend the don bowls, the bentos and thr supurb gyoza, very good value for really good food. However, the miso soup I ordered was very watery and didnt taste great. Other than that i love this place
I spent $26 for ordered Ramen Noodle soup with Chicken Katsu, fried Dumplings, Matcha Ice cream, Fresh Sushi 6 big slices, Absolutely cheap and all food Yummy!!
Friendly stuff, place bit small or too small for family with Toodler but clean. Only if they serve Red Ginger, Washabi, Chilli powder, Soy sauce on the table I will give 5stars

Happy to see this little Japanese place on the Bentleigh shopping strip, their staff are always very helpful and friendly.Their sushi are fresh and delicious, if you have a craving for Japanese food, this will be the one in Bentleigh area.
If you’re after a great mid week cheap Japanese feed then this is the place to be! We have been coming to koi since it opened and were so delighted to have a decent Japanese go to in the area. The food doesn’t disappoint and the menu is so large that there is always something for everyone. Love the soft shell crab rolls!
The Luncher Clan enjoy Koi thanks to the freshness of their offerings and the swiftness of their service. The chicken gyoza were not world-class, but certainly within acceptable zones. Mrs Luncher adores the sushi packs and the Little Luncher's smash down the avocado and tuna rolls. A winning venue this one.
We love this place... have been coming here for take-away dinners for quite a while now! We always place our order over the phone & they are very quick, friendly & efficient with their service; our orders have always been ready in a timely manner. The food is amazing; we tend to order different chicken dishes and they are always fresh and tasty. Great pricing too!
I’m giving this place 5 stars not because its a 5 star restaurant but because the quality of the food for the price is phenomenal!!! I've been to a lot of classy Japanese places that charge an arm and a leg and this place is right up there in the food department. Clean restaurant and fast friendly service.
Friendly staff and quick service. Katsu is good however rice is dry and curry needs a bit more sauce. Udon soup needs more veggies and the chicken stock needs more flavour. I did however like how you could choose your stock, noodles and meal. Never seen that before and I think it’s a great idea. Not too bad for the money spent and will return to try other things.
I drove by and noticed the new place, which was full of diners so I thought I'd give it a try. Well, I was so pleased to discover a new local that offers simple, fresh and tasty Japanese food at extremely reasonable prices. I ordered the Udon with tasty chicken shoyu broth, as well as the 'ocean' sushi roll. Both were extremely fresh and flavourful. It's a lovely interior if I was inclined to dine in, but they were very speedy with my takeaway. Service was prompt and pleasant. Highly recommend and I'll definitely be back.
New restaurant in Bentleigh suburb.
Very fresh ingredients, nice n tasty.
Good value.
Elegant restaurant decor.
Definitely will come back again.
This place is now my favourite little casual Japanese restaurant. They have so many options at such good prices and everything just tastes so amazing 💖👌🏼 already been here two days in a row, got my friends hooked too. Definitely recommend 💯
Best Japanese in the area. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was efficient. Will definitely be going back there, thoroughly enjoyed it.
What a fantastic addition to the very average Japanese options available on Centre Rd. The food is fresh and imaginative. The service was efficient and friendly. And to top it off it's all very reasonable. The place was absolutely packed but they managed to run things quite smoothly. We'll be back!
Very nice Japanese food that is very affordable! Nice ambience as well. Sushi tasted very nice and the Bento boxes had a bit of everything as well!
Welcome Koi, the latest addition on Centre Rd Bentleigh. This review is based on my personal experience here and please keep in mind this is only their first or second week so lets get into it. The fit out here is really nice and cosy , probably the best among all Japanese restaurants in the suburb. Service ...really nice and friendly. The food...bangs for the bucks and tasty. It costs us around $12-13 per meal which is reasonable to me and seriously I quite like it here. I’m well aware that they just opened couple of weeks ago and there is still room to improve. I do wish them all the best and will definitely return to try some more soon. 👍
It’s hard to find a good sashimi
Place who do dine in and take away and I was so impressed with the choice, value and presentation 👌🏻🥰✨🍣🍜🍤
Obviously very popular, this little Japanese restaurant has an extensive menu and the dishes we chose were good. Will definitely return.
Amazing food. One of my new faves. Cute decor. Not cheap but not overly classy, more cafe style than restaurant style - love the homey feel the wooden tables and chairs give. Nice and tidy and food is served looking fresh and clean and tasting great. $10 minimum to use card, just as an FYI for anybody that is anal about paying smaller amounts with card.
Other than that, well priced for the quality of food you get and the sizes of the dish. I have paid a lot more at other places for a lot less, so I think $16 for a plate of food that actually fills you is decent.
Also thought the staff were quick to clean up after us and they were super friendly. Love a place that thanks you when you leave as well. Love it!
Located opposite Bentleigh station, Koi is a convenient pit stop for commuters. With cooked to order hot food, and the choice of pre-made or made to order sushi available, the menu is actually much more varied that I expected.
The tuna and avocado sushi was decent and a good snack for when you’re feeling peckish. After whetting my appetite with the sushi, I dived straight in to the Pork Katsu Ramen with Chicken Shoyu broth. The broth was flavourful, but did made me thirsty after. The ramen was cooked to the optimal springy, chewy and slightly firm texture, and the pork katsu came with a thin and crisped batter.
The Curry Chicken Katsu Don was accompanied by little chunks of peas, carrots and corn which may or may not be of the frozen or canned variety. The curry sauce was nothing to write home about but as tasty enough. The chicken katsu was similar to the pork katsu – lovely batter and well-seasoned.
A sensible option for a quick and cheerful meal in the area.
Small and cosy little local restaurant. Fast service and quality japanese food that tastes great. Decent serving sizes and well priced. The menu is wide enough to have something for everyone in the family. We’ve added Koi to our list of regular local dining destinations!!
