Review Boundary Hotel - Bentleigh

Sam Keir
Great place for groups particularly those celebrating birthdays with or without young kids as Boundary Hotel has great little indoor play centre for them. Food has to be ordered through their app which I hate particularly when you order items from entrees page and items from mains page and they bring everything out together. Why does every place where I have ordered through app do this? Why have entrees page if it doesn't mean food to be served before main meal? This is the 4th place where this has happened, yes 4th, I don't get it, does back of house think entrees and main mean same thing? Or what am I missing???? Coffees (soy latte, skinny mocha and flat whites) were good and kids loved their cokes. Kids had cheeseburger and mini steak while adults had fish 'n' chips, steak sandwich and vegetarian tacos. We also ordered dips and bread to share for starters, oops I mean as another main! Note the kids steak was full of gristle and fat and only half of it was edible. Kids had mini choc sundae and black forest cake for dessert. There is plenty of room here, plenty of parking and if you are so inclined plenty of opportunities to lose your money, in their gambling room next door. The Boundary Hotel is an institution and its great that over the years they have modernised their look and introduced more vegetarian options however their app ordering system, well you know what I think about that!

2nd time I've been here. The first time I came, I had the squid and I came back specifically for it. It's so rare at a pub to get thick, juicy and real squid! Plus it was soooo delicious. For main, I had the prosciutto wrapped chicken with pumpkin and goats cheese mousse which was a real winner. I had profiteroles and the sticky date and banana pudding for dessert. The pudding...amazing but the profiteroles were frozen in the middle. I wouldn't let that deter you though, everything else was so good. Will be back many times I'm sure!

Had the $18 express lunch today and was very impressed with our meals. Roast of the day (lamb) and fish and chips. Both meals were well presented and tasted great. Dessert was included with the $18 lunch and was an enjoyable treat to finish our meals. Service was really good too. I highly recommend if you haven't been for awhile to give it a try.

First time visiting this pub even though we've lived in the area for a couple of years and we really enjoyed the meal. Steak was delicious. Food took a bit longer than expected but it was Saturday night and it was worth the wait. Kids meal came out quickly which is more important. Kids play area was a hit with our toddler so I'm sure we will be back often.

Very well maintained and nice hotel. Their food quality and service was excellent. I heard from lots of people that their food is great. And that's true. The gaming room staff is nice and friendly too. Always enjoy my trips to boundary hotel.

Thank you for your outstanding service for my mother's 80th birthday. We had a fabulous time, the staff were attentive and friendly, the food was hot, fresh and with great flavours - I loved my rump steak, cooked to perfection. Thank you again, we will be back again soon.

A waste of time and money. Under staffed & RUDE staff, very average food, very poor service . So many other pubs in the area that are doing a great job and so much better. All my family used to love this pub and have supported it over several generations but it is the absolute bottom of the list now. Lets hope for a change of ownership/management to bring this great little pub back to what it has been for many centuries .

To the owner, your food is very average, I would be seeking better produce and addressing chef; I can only speak for what I ordered twice here before. Both time's (benefit of doubt first time) chicken parmigiana have a look at what is being presented to the table - some red cabbage muk tasteless salad thick roar chunks covered in muk. I worked restaurants, pups - head in kitchens, I wouldn't of had work if present these standards. That food makes a customer remember never to dine here again. 6.15 pm

freshly reopened and what a disappointment. The delicious parmy is now processed jelly meat ‘chicken’ snit. Was chewy. Slimy.
Service was good and the chips were great. We have been going to the boundary for many years, but won’t be heading back. Plus side, enjoyed a laugh naming said chicken.. jelicken, fhicken..

Great place for a parma with the fellas. We ordered a variety of tasty parmas served with crispy chips and refreshing salads. We even recieved free garlic bread for the table, which is a win in my books. Staff were just as great as the parmas. I highly recommend the boundary Hotel if you looking for a nice place to catch a feed with the gang.
Jarrad
Ordered the Parma. Standard price, come out within 15 minutes. Chips were unfortunately luke warm. Salad was very basic. The parma itself was average with a very small serving size. See the attached photo of it next to kids meal which is under half the prize.

Went in a group for lunch and was pleasantly suprised. There were a few oldies at our table so I managed to have a seniors meal ordered for me, $16 Scotch fillet The size was good value considering the quality of the steak and accompanying pepper sauce and chips. Also a small salad. Staff were lovely, so was the coffee and the desserts which I didn't try were generous servings and enjoyed by those who ordered them.
I don't do many reviews but thought the current low score for this hotel is not a true reflection of the meal that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Paid $3.50 per oyster for Oysters kilpat. Tasted ok but it should have for that price.

Paid $23 for a gelatinous mass masquerading as spaghetti marinara. Two tiny prawns, some adequately cooked mussels , and some inferiorly fried dried out fish pieces.

But the parts were better than the sum - the preparation, presentation and consistency was HORRENDOUS - real Myers Cafe standard with an over reliance on the glutenous ‘napoli’ sauce....which may as well have been tomato relish.

A $14 bar meal - prepared by a toilet hygene operative.
I came here on New Years Eve when they opened.
Staff were generally friendly and greeted us.
We ordered the Fish and Chips as well as the Spaghetti Marinara which ended up costing $50; which I think is relatively decent.

We waited about 20 minutes for our food and were given sharing plates. These plates were not cleaned properly as you could see the grease on the plates.

The fish and chips were good but I personally though the spaghetti marinara was okay. I think what gave me an unpleasant experience were the dirty plates.
Sarah
I didn’t have huge expectations after the reviews.. but this was the best parma I’ve had in Melbourne! A group of us went for Tuesday trivia which was also better than other pubs in the area. Plus you can get a parma and chips for $4.90 to chow down with your Tuesday trivia. Too good!
Dine And Dash
I came here with my family tonight. Walking in was our first mistake but we were greeted by a friendly staff member who showed us to our table. It was on the late side but the restaurant was quite empty - I was soon to find out why and it was nothing to do with the time. The pub also has a gamer's room and a kid's playground. We went up to the counter and ordered the Garlic Bread with cheese and the Soup of the Day which was Mixed Vege Soup and Grazier's Porterhouse steaks for our main courses. The Cheesy Garlic Bread was admittedly a generous serving with 4 large pieces but there was way too much cheese on them which made them soggy and worse still, they were cold!! The soup was watery, flavourless and can you believe it? - cold! The main dishes, our steaks, came out very quickly which was completely inconvenient as we hadn't finished our garlic bread entree and to make things worse the soup came out at the same time - who has a steak with a side of soup?!! Terrible kitchen organisation - were they just in a hurry to get rid of us? The steaks weren't cooked well - mine was definitely not medium rare. It was not only overcooked but chewy and tough. The salad was the one redeeming feature - it was fresh and tasty. The chips were dry and overcooked. I mean, I'm not talking fine dining here - what chef can't cook steak and chips? The Boundary Hotel needs to up its game if it wants to get any kind of positive feedback on the customer satisfaction cards they leave on the tables. Eat there at your own risk. Ugh.
Chris
We've eaten here twice before in the past and generally found the food and prices reasonable. Went with a friend on Saturday night. Ordered entrees and mains. Asked for the entrees to be sent out before the mains. Mine came out quickly. My friend's came out after his main. Main meals took over an hour to arrive (the place was packed, though). I ordered the seafood basket and the seafood was very oily and rubbery. The fish was dry. My friend had the eye fillet, which was dry and tasteless. Overall, we didn't have a good experience and it appears the quality of the food has decreased.
The Dear Luncher
The Dear Luncher expected his return to The Boundary Hotel to be awful. Not the case. A few years back a horrible counter meal was had. This time, in the bistro... an improvement. Service was exemplary, the chicken burger experienced was reasonable. Certainly not the most awesome place to eat but good enough for some pub grub. Surprisingly good beer choices as well with Monteith's XPA and 4 Pines Pale on tap.

(June 2018) Edit: Downgraded to a 2 after one of the worst steaks ever experienced. This scotch fillet wasn't even finished. And ridiculously priced at $28. A real let down. Tough, tasteless, over cooked. If this was the first ever visit the grading would be a 1.

Pretty poor dining experience. Ate here last night (saturday). The free bread was tossed onto the table by a waitress that couldn't care less. The staff members chatted in the bar area, literally doing nothing for a good amount of 20 minutes and after a while we finally got their attention to order we were told there wasn't any table service (could have mentioned that when we were seated!). .
While ordering a steak for over $30 you expect the service to be included in the price but this place don't care. The steak was cooked well inside but tasted of charcoal on the outside. Chips were carelessly mixed into the steamed vegetables, so they were all soggy.
Won't be coming back here.. went somewhere else to spend our money on drinks afterwards.
Burgers Of Melbourne
It was hard to find anything good about this place besides the free bread rolls. A very expensive meal for a very small portion and not the greatest quality food. This hotel used to give you value for money, but now the quality is shocking, they are trying to be trendy but have miserably failed. On the never again list unfortunately :(

Really nice pub / bar. Came on a Wednesday steak night ...$20porterhouse steak... hmmm it was good but I gave it three stars cus they didn't have dinner rolls .. plenty of butter and jam.. but no dinner rolls. I like my dinner rolls!!! Also the dude at bar didn't let me have a taste of a particularly beer I never tried. The side of chips I got was aged and soggy ... WIR?? Yeah will give it one more go..

I dine quite a great deal in our local area this has got to be the worst pub ihave been too. No matter how many times i come. Never again for me i dont even know where to start. I much prefer Bentleigh RSL Mckinnon Sandbelt.

APPALLING!!! We're locals and have tried to support this place over the years but each visit has been more disappointing than the last. Tonight was the worst experience we've had at a pub. We ordered 2 scotch fillet medium. They came out burnt. Mine was tough, grey and a cheap sinewy cut. Hubby's was slightly better. I sent mine back and asked to upgrade to eye fillet and I'd pay the difference. First I was told they wouldn't do it and the manager argued with us that it wasn't black just grey! Really! After half an hour when hubby had long finished his meal we decided to leave and get our money back for mine. The manager argued with us again saying it was still cooking and to wait!!! Bad food bad service and rude staff. NEVER EVER AGAIN AND WE WILL SPREAD THE WORD.

We tried this again today after a break due to frustration at our last visit. It's our local and I would like to patronise it more. The room is quite pleasant and the seniors meals weren't bad. But the wait for dessert was interminable. Finally we approached the counter and asked for our dessert money back as we had to be somewhere else. Apparently the long wait was our fault as the girl informed us that we needed to tell a staff member when we were ready for dessert. She portrayed this as normal procedure. I commented that she must have received many complaints but she said "No, not one, ever!" We've dined in many pubs and NEVER had to tell staff when we were ready for the next course.

Our last few visits have all been a shambles as far as service goes. Clearly they need to pay a supervisor to see that service is running smoothly and people are not sitting there feeling completely ignored.
Eric L
The price/value equation is only fair when paying full price at this bistro and rises to good on a shop-a-docket voucher. Variation across items is significant with your parmigiana OK one day and dry, over-cooked the next. Steaks are average price for a pub and again the chances of the kitchen delivering your steak cooked how you asked for it (rare, medium etc) seems a random process outcome.
John
I've been coming here for over a year, the food is fine, management and staff are lacking in customer service and hotel appearance, not a place I enjoy going to anymore, such a decline on a place that use to thrive. Unless there are serious changes I don't see myself and many people coming here.

Went there for Sunday dinner with 2 families. The play area was very clean good for young children. We went to place our order. Nick at the counter served us. He was unfriendly and unwelcoming. No greetings no smiles and asked 'what do you want?' Three families went separately but all came back shocked with his rudeness!

Food was average. Beef burgers were massive! Good value if you are very hungry. Chicken Parma was very big also. Fish and chips can't be grilled fish. Batter was very thick. Steak was a bit dry. Kids meals were not big portion. The baskets were filled mostly with chips and lettuce. The chicken burger was decent size for bigger kids, but the child had it said it wasn't very much flavour in the chicken.

Kids dessert didn't come after we finished main. When we went to the counter to collect, again, Nick was there. He told us he will order through the kitchen. We waited another 15 minutes, still nothing. We entry again and asked another waiter and was given and estimated time, and came out within 5 minutes.

When we went to pay the bill we expressed our dissatisfaction with Nick's service to Daniel. Daniel apologized for our experience and was polite. Not sure if we would go back again... Probably not...
Emily
It's very average pub food. A good place for young families because of the kids area but otherwise I'd go somewhere else. The Parma was nice the chips were okay.

Worst. Experience. Ever.

I am pretty okay with places that make you order at the counter. Unfortunately, this place fails on both counts.

Came back to here after a hiatus because they reintroduced oysters onto the menu (which is one of the main reasons I pick a venue for myself (and my parents). Somehow, magically, they were out of oysters AT 12PM on a SUNDAY. Seriously!?!
Waiter didn't even bat an eyelid as if it was a rehearsed response.

Then I learned that the beef ribs, as advertised on their website, the tables and their counter had been cancelled for OVER FOUR WEEKS. Hello!! Change your advertising which only changed after I complained.

Speaking of which, I have had numerous communications with Desi the Venue Manager whose only response was that it was the supplier's fault. Seriously, guys, when did the tail start wagging the dog??

I was even forwarded a $50 voucher. But just go somewhere where they can offer what's on the menu. At the Boundary, you are simply taking pot luck.

Shawn

Terrible and being a local, will never step foot in the place. Last 3 times I've been there ( not by my choice), had to wait 20 mins to place an order as only one staff on meal till, then placed order and had to wait a further 15 mins at bar as only one staff pouring and serving drinks..... Went for a class room school dinner so surely they knew big crowd.... Not a one off either, never have enough staff to cater for patrons.... Received half our meals asked for where sides were and told they probably went to another table due to large booking. I asked what's the point of giving table number and the manager keep telling me there were plenty of side orders in the other table.... As stated, not a first where received average meals and not a first I've spent time ( over 35 mins) ordering food and drink. You go out for a meal to socialise with friends, not having to spend the majority getting some type of poor service.....
Sam
For a pub this place is making a really good effort but it's definitely still pub grub and not gastro pub territory but I would love to see it step up. Plenty of options on the menu which is great to see.
Nicole Tyler
If I could give it a 0 I would.
Decided to give it a go, and what a mistake.
Price of the meals for the below average quality and cleanliness are just a tip of the iceberg that need major attention.
Very very disappointed.
Tanya James
To start of our night we waited 10 minutes to be seated, while two floor staff were setting up a table. The line was out the door of waiting customers. The main meals we were very pleasant, expect for the bbq ribs which were too tough and the garlic bread taking an awful long time to come out. Then when it came to dessert time the night went down hill. For some simple desserts it took half an hour. We ordered some banana splits, which were more like melted sundaes with a bit of topping and half a banana. The other desserts were very ordinary. To make up for our inconvenience we were giving a voucher.

$66 to feed a hungry family. Pretty cheap for dinner, but then again it felt and tasted cheap too. Whilst it had potential with a family playground, the food we ordered wasn't that great. My wife's salmon salad and my crispy skin salmon were two attempts at cooking fish in two different ways - both overcooked / dry. My "avocado and orange salsa" was actually just chunks of avocado and orange with nothing else - definitely not what I'd call a salsa.

Service had a cheap feel as well where we had to order at the bar, get a token for the drink, move 3 metres to get served the drink (by the same guy). Quick service but no warmth to it.
Tony Messenger
Ordinary pub in reality, reminds me of RSL's in the 1990's. A seniors menu of "roast & veg" says it all. Not a single vegan choice and from a menu of 20 odd items there's one vegetarian choice "gnocchi ratatouille". Wine is fairly priced though which is a plus.
Notice Me Senpai
Not my kind of establishment at all. There is a reason why dog leashes were invented for young children too.

Very noisy dining area with subpar food.

Way too expensive for what you get.

A group of four of us were not happy with our food. Undercooked chips, soggy paella, overcooked and undercooked steaks around the table.

No refund, but we were offered a free dessert each, and that was sadly the best part of the meal.

Do not waste your time here. Better offerings close by, even if it is Domino's.

Went for lunch today (Saturday). Ordered the Chef's special - Pork Schnitzel. The 2 Schnitzels were enormous, accompanied by the delicious salad and light beer battered chips.
Andrew CW
Pretty average food, way too expensive, food came relatively quick. Stick to the basic foods like your burgers, parmas and calamari. There is minimal staff on,Good for the kids, they love the play ground.
Golly
Deserves a better score than 2.2!!! My partner had the soup of day which was served with some crusty bread. I had the steak and even though it wasn't cheap it was cooked as requested.
Nelly
The benefit of this place is the children's play area. Especially if you have little kids.

Apparently you can even have kids parties in the play area. But remember this is a pub, because the party area is near the bar and overlooking the pokey machines. Let's get those kids gambling early perhaps? Or drunk? Ah no, I don't think I'll go either option.

There is ample parking but for dinner I found this place very dull. The food ordered at the counter, your given a number to place at your table. Then it eventually turns up looking like something I might make at home. Why is it $30 for this. Fine I might plate it a little messier than this but $30? Eek.

Look I have definitely had worst. The eating area is never full, or even close to being well occupied. They really are busier around the bar or the pokies. Food is just there because they have the room. But seems to be like an empty space which no one know what to do with.

Lunch April 4 2015. I generally do not reviews about restaurants or their food but as I worked for this Hotel some years ago as the Head Chef & have been a customer for 20 years. I have bought more than 30 customers to this establishment. I need to say that I am very disappointed in the lunch my mother grand daughter & I had.
You can tell that there has been a change in guard in the kitchen.
The specials were not the normal array of quality tempting morsels.
The pulled pork roll was sweet & liken to a Hungry Jacks meal.
I was not offered the complimentary drink.
My Mother had the senior Fish which was prebattered fishy stuff.
The floor Manager offered a complimentary dessert or coffee & said that they were trying to sort out their suppliers re-excuse for the fish.
i think that they need to take down there sign saying they are sustainable kitchen the food needs to be reviewed.

You don't have my support after 20 years. I'm not going to bother eating there again.

Went on a Saturday night and managed to get the last free table. Mainly went to make use of the playground and that part was good. Everything else not so much. 55 min wait for meals, watching people who came after us eating things we had ordered before us. No kids drink supplied with kids menu - $8 for two terrible snags and chips btw. Wasn't given the specials menu. Meals finally came out 10 mins after asking after them and the steak was overcooked and no veggies came with the other meal. The table beside us went to order dessert and in the interim staff gave the table away! The manager took our feedback well and gave us a free drink and voucher to smooth it over which was nice and I didn't leave feeling too annoyed but disappointing all round as the first dinner out in ages

Simple and delicious!. Lovely simple pub food. Good assortment of seasonal vegetables.

We ate the veal scollopini and seniors porterhouse. Veg included pumpkin, mash, parsnip and carrots, also Chinese broccoli. Veal was tender and steak cooked well.

Cheesey garlic bread worth every cent!! Yumm!!

Service was great and staff are friendly. Bar area is quiet and posh.

Thoroughly enjoyable night out with nan.

Dont borher. Rubbish service slow slow slow daggy interior pokies are terrible ice been there 5 times never won yet awful place again

Disappointing. Very disappointing. To start the evening the table was dirty and we sat next to the window which had filthy blinds and food on the window ledge. Yuck. The $3 kids frog in the pond came without the frog! Won't be coming back here.
Andrew
Overpriced, not good value. Terrible interiors. Staff were friendly, but meals came out super far apart. I recommend you give this place a miss, unless you like feeling regret after going out to dinner and spending your hard earned on rubbish.
Jasmine
Disgusting food disgusting service!. We took the family out to celebrate my sons bday, we had always driven past the place and thought we should try it out some day! What a mistake never again!! the food was an absolute disgrace the kids meals had sand in the veggies, the Parmas were cold and bread crumbs raw! The fish and chips were soaked in oil. The customer service was crap. When we complained about the food and asked for a refund we were refused!! As they said the food was fine when they took it into the kitchen to inspect! They told us we could only get a vochure, we refused as we were not going to come back again and said to bring out the food and check it again. When the manager went back into the kitchen she said they had thrown it out. (Obviously bcos it was crap) we demanded a refund and finally got one! Never again we will be going there!!
Paulweiss00
Total Joke. I was asked to leave the pub while dinning with my wife and 3 kids, I had never been to the boundry hotel before and never again. I was told that i was barred and that my wife and 3 kids could stay. I wasnt offered a refund and was told i was drunk, I DONT DRINK. I couldnt believe how rude the manager was. I was totaly embrassed in front of my whole family. We went to leave but had paid over $100 for 2 adults and 3 kids meals which she refused to refund. Cant leave a review about food as i didnt have any !!!! My family ate as fast as they could and didnt enjoy the first night out that we had had in months. VERY DISAPPOINTING !!!!!!! STAY AWAY
Helen
Food was very average and poor value for money. Also the carpet was filthy as was the children's playground - so much so that I didn't want my child playing in it. Also the table was sticky.
David
David. My wife and I returned to this pub on Monday after a giving it a miss 18months ago because of the poor standard of food & service. Nothing has changed My wife had the crumbed cutlets (4) undercooked and overpriced and the crumbs tasted liked burnt deep fried oil. I had the lamb shanks, cold and more fat than meat again had a very oily unpleasant taste. Bar service is very slow. On the way out we spoke to a diner who also had the lamb shanks and she experienced the same awful taste I did she left the whole meal uneaten. This is one very ordinary pub never again. Back to Oakleigh central for me for the same price at watch this space you get 7 beautifully cooked cutlets with a great salad chips. ( Hey Boundary send your chef there to see how top quality food is prepared & served )

Did not seem to comply with conditions of Shop A Docket discount coupon. The meals are not great but we have been willing to overlook that by using a Shop A Docket offer which reduces the second meal ordered to $8.

Unfortunately to our surprise (though it does not seem to be mentioned on the offer coupon) we were told the offer does not apply to specials on the board. Only to meals ordered from the menu. Hmm.

We went ahead and ordered from the menu, but we left with unpleasant the taste in our mouth of having been tricked.

Don't even bother !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Don't waste your calories and your money on this rubbish !!!!!!

Went for dinner on Tuesday night, worst service I have ever come across and the food was over cooked and dry (we had the chicken parmas) the salad was swimming in oil and the chips were sloppy!!! The staff didn't seem to be very Untrained!!! And the manager had no idea how to do his job!!! Will never go there again to eat.....do disappointed.........
Yattering
Don't bother. Plain lousy on all levels. Received food twenty minutes after everyone else on the table and when it did arrive i felt i needed a chainsaw to get through the overcooked crumbing on my kiev. Ordered dessert for the kids and had to remind staff after waiting twenty minutes. When it did arrive it was some store bought icy poles and ice creams. Never again.
CamberwellGirl
Have come here with the kids several times on a Thursday night, and it has gone downhill so much that we won't be coming back. Food was tasteless, gravy was watered down gravox and cost an extra $2. Usually is packed with families on Thursday nights, this time we were the only ones here and now I know why. Leaving very unsatisfied.
MelbFoodie
Pleasantly surprised for lunch today. Swordfish was a corker.
Good pub grub

Gorgeous little cider bar, shady and relaxing. They have some awesome ciders on tap too, if your a cider lover stuck in the suburbs check it out.

Rude Manager bad food and bad attitude. Went there on Monday night, few diners so the service could have been good. Unfortunately it was awful. My husband ordered the special T Bone as medium. It arrived rare. He sent it back to get it just a little more done. 20 minutes later there was no sign of it. It was difficult to get any staff member to make eye contact. Finally I called out across the room to a waitress and asked her to inquire. After several more moments she arrived with the meal. The mash was totally cold and the extremely well done (charred) steak only just warm. Obviously it had been sitting in the kitchen forgotten. My husband refused the meal and asked for a refund. The Manager was called for. He arrived with no apology but with an arrogant "What's your problem?" This is appallingly bad service and unnecessary rudeness. We told him that this is not the first time we have had an experience like this at the Boundary but he shrugged and mumbled something and walked off to get our refund. Still no apology. As we were leaving the manager stormed out of the kitchen and told my husband "he had just stuck his finger in the food and it was hot." Besides this being untrue there was no need for this aggressive challenge. Also, the other food served to our party was bland. My sister ordered the pumpkin soup which was pale in colour, very watery with chunks of garlic floating in it. It had an unusually spicy taste for pumpkin soup. The plate was less than half full. If you can't make pumpkin soup or serve a hot steak you shouldn't be in business. But the attitude and rudeness of the so called manager was unacceptable. Word gets around............

Didnt like it at all!. In the area my partner and i thought we would enjoy some nice pub food...i got the parma (usually the safe option) and she got the chicken ceasar salad and pumpkin soup too..the soup was quite thin and flavorless - the chicken ceasar didn't have any egg OR croutons on it and only 2 small pieces of chicken and mayo as dressing instead of proper ceasar dressing!!! The parma seemed like a store bought chicken schnitzel with toppings(so not a meaty chunk of chicken just a batter and some chicken in the middle)

Would not recommend to anyone - really disappointed as it was quite expensive too!
Nikita Bayros
Worst meal ever! Food very bland, soup watered down, soggy Parma, and they made a ceaser salad with mayo??? Not ceaser dressing. So disappointed
Chris
Terrible. Very unpleasant experience. I ordered a hamburger whilst my friend ordered a medium rare steak. After waiting an hour for our food, we enquired and were told food would arrive shortly. After several further requests our food arrived, it had taken over 90 minutes. When I told the waiter that we had been waiting for our food for so long he told me arrogantly and without any remorse "all is fine". The meat on the hamburger was totally burnt and not edible. As for the steak it was charcoal, not to mention very small and thin. I demanded my money back and then left. DO NOT EAT THERE, and I am a local.

Congratulations & thank you for a truly great Christmas day lunch! Lenny & his staff did a brilliant & faultless job: fantasic menu choices & yummy food; tasteful decorations & music ...a really pleasant meal! We were really impressed! Well done! A big thank you to all the staff for making a great lunch possible!

Fabulous Service Wonderful Pub Food. I went there this week for the first time (my dad's neighbour's had recommend the pub) and was pleasantly surprised. The dining area has been renovated recently and the decor is very modern. My partner and I ordered the lamb souvlaki and salad, my dad tried the outback chicken parmigiana. We were very happy with our meals, which were quite generous, no skimping here. The lamb souvlaki was cooked to perfection and was wrapped in a pitta bread with yoghurt sauce. My dad loved the parmigiana, so all round a great experience. Not sure who actually served us, but he was a guy probably in his mid thirties, with dark hair, must say he displayed the best customer service I have experienced in a long time. Now we have made a booking for Christmas lunch, so looking forward to it, as I know that we won't be disappointed.

Nice staff behind the bar. There are a few cigar varieties.
However the Parma is not great, and the chips are awful.

Overpriced, boring food cooked badly. Price - Way too much for just a pub in the burbs. They could cut prices across the board by about 40% to just bring it back to standard. The area could do with a good value pub rather than a pub reaching for top $ on each dish. Seriously, out in the burbs these prices are expensive for a place where you actually get service, but keep in mind that this is a pub - want food? Get up and order it. Thirsty? Get up and walk to the bar. Given that approach to service, the prices are a joke. Pubs closer to the city that have gone for premium pricing have proper table service.

Boring - One of the few places that I have been where there is almost nothing besides the standard steak + parma options that looks good. Just a really un-appealing menu. Needs re-vamping.

Food quality - Have tried it about 3 times, and probably won't go back. Each time, the food just hasn't been nice. Can't say more than that.

Do your kids like raw onion??. Wait at entry "please wait to be seated" and wait and wait....staff behind bar chit chatting so we walk up and waitress greeted us like we were a bother! A real drip of a girl even placing my sons food in the middke of the table not served to him
dirty carpets from lunch, dirty glasses left on side board including a dirty baby bottle - nice!
Ordered chicken satay - dry! Side salad boring no dressing
Kids chicken chips and salad - chicken was nice, salad full of raw onion
Never again

Bland...bland...bland. Had fish&chips, chicken parma, roast of the day.
Kid had chicken nugget&chips.
Generous portion but all so bland taste.

Fish was raw(from frozen & undercooked) so had to order again.
Roast of the day had some peices of pork and some vegetable.
Vegetable all from frozen state. Apple sauce taste like baby food.
Chicken parma, large portion but again just bland.

Seriously all food were so bland. Even desert. Looking good desert turned out bland as well.
Maybe their chefs not recovered from the recent robbery.

Not going back definitely!!!!

P.s. Table so sticky!!! They should use general portion of ajex

Used to be a great pub. Upper management only concerned about pokies. Food is terrible, service is appalling, staff are rude.

Bland and disappointing. We only had a small amount of time so ordered a few entrees - the bruschetta and pumpkin soup.

The bruschetta sounded impressive on the menu but it was basically bland, buttery garlic bread with a few slices of tomato, diced onion and some bocconcini cheese. Oily, greasy but with no flavour at all.

My wife had the pumpkin soup and she wasn't impressed.

If they can't get dishes as simple as these right, what hope do they have for the mains? The chef obviously has no passion for what he is doing by serving up low-par food like this.

We can only hope that the chef or management change very soon and give this place a much needed kick up the backside.

Quantum of Solace. OK so Monday night is a quiet night.
Party of 9 adults and 4 kids.
Place clean and with play area for the young ones.
Menu on line and a reasonable choice.
THad promo vouchers for free soup with main meals and ordered mains and soup. Took kids meals plates to bar as nobody appeared to remove them. After 25 minutes went and asked if the soup was ready, was told that none was ordered.
Then the mains and soup appeared at the same time. Noticed that the empty plates on tables remained uncollected. Of the 3 waitresses, one seemed to try to do everything, from taking orders, serving in the bar that was largely unstaffed to serving food. The other two arranged cutlery but nobody seemed to clear tables.
The soup was the best part of the meal.
My Graziers pie was nice, chunky beef and light pastry casing with mashed potato and the Adelaide horror of squashed peas.
Char siu style pork cutlet did no favour to the fatty pork cutlet, noodles and small amount of vegetables swimming in oil or East West relations.

Of the adults, it rated 5 out of 10 for the food.

We put all our used plates on an adjacent table, a practice I abhor but the staff did not do anything to clear plates, just walked by.
Boundary Hotel, at least make an effort.
Not that many people there so I guess the Boundary lives down to its reputation.

Nothing exceptional, but still worthy of a try. The boundary has standard pub food and good service - the perfect place for a family meal.
