Lovely setting in the 'middle of nowhere'. We got here by seaplane and it was a rather lovley way to arrive at the venue. All the seating were facing the window - very clever and shows that some thought had gone into the setting. Highlights: Great wait staff that knows the matching wines very well. Loved the Australian food/wine theme. The soup was Delish!
Lowlights: must admit the bathrooms were not what I expected for a place like this.
Absolutely wonderful afternoon. Scrumptious food, outstanding service. We opted for the 6 course degustation. The custard was a standout, but everything was delicious.
Vanessa: Waterfront dining on a Friday afternoon is nothing to be sniffed at, particularly when the location is the idyllic Berowra Waters Inn. Having been on the list to try for many years, we were delighted to accept an invitation to experience the venue and modern Australian menu the restaurant is well-known for. With a glimmer in my eye I bid adieu to Baby V, whom I left in the care of his grandmother, whilst I set off to meet Bianca for our highly anticipated luncheon.
A wonderful dining experience, showcasing Aussie seafood along Aussie waters!
We highly recommend the Moreton Bay Bug with caviar—cooked to perfection and full of that creamy flavour. We also enjoyed the beer ice cream.
Staff were cheerful and happy! Ferry was delayed by 15-20 minutes which made it a teensy bit unnerving especially because there’s no mobile service at the wharf!
This is my favourite fine dining place. I’ve been here three times already to try out the different season menu and I enjoyed all of them. I love the unique experience of arriving to the restaurant by boat.
The dining experience here at Berowra Waters Inn was wonderful. We went there to celebrate our anniversary. The boat ride was amazing and the driver was very welcoming and friendly. Overall service at the restaurant was marvelous not to mention the food itself- spectacular 👌🏻 we have already booked to come back again
Start with a very friendly boat captain, even though need to wait for a while at jetty due to limited people on board per time. But definitely not ruined any mood for the day. Friendly staffs with a pleasant and calm water view. Food are delicious too. An enjoyable lunch experience.
My partner took me to Berowra Waters Inn as a special surprise date and what a surprise it was! I loved the boat trip into the restaurant, as the view is beyond stunning (especially on the beautiful day we went). Seated with those views really takes your breath away and then the degustation begins!
With local ingredients, each plate was gorgeously presented and I appreciated the careful effort that went into each dish. Our wine glasses were never empty and the service was faultless, with the waiter knowing when to ask how the meal was and when to give us space to enjoy each other's company and the view.
Some of the flavours were extremely rich and the beetroot element on one dish was extremely over powering, which I think needed some more balance. However, it was a truly beautiful day out and I would recommend to anyone that has a special occasion coming up!
We flew here by Sydney Seaplanes which was beautiful. The restaurant is in a quiet, idyllic location with breathtaking views of the river.
The flavours of the food were really nice - we particularly enjoyed the kingfish. There were 7 courses but each portion was quite small. We would’ve preferred an extra savoury course instead of 3 dessert courses, however overall the experience was lovely and memorable.
My boyfriend took me there for my birthday this year. The food is really nice, really love the wagyu beef and desert. We had 8 course degustation menu - perfect for a date
This is the best fine dining restaurant that I've tried in Australia(probably syd), my boyfriend and i celebrated his 25th birthday in there which was a wonderful and unforgettable memory for us. There is sceneic that deserves a day trip.
I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday with a lunch at picturesque Berowra Waters Inn. The restaurant is in secluded location, only accessible by water with the short private ferry ride adding to the whole experience. . I've enjoyed the view of Berowra Waters many times during my bushwalking expeditions, but this was completely another level - the restaurant, service, and food were all spectacular, making this my favourite Sydney fine dining restaurant.

I was whisked away to Sydney for the weekend by my partner to celebrate our five-year anniversary. We decided to splurge a bit and dined at the Berowra Waters Inn on a Saturday night. There is only one menu option at this inn and that’s an eight course degustation at $185 p/person. Although, to be more accurate it’s six courses and two amuse-bouches. I don’t think an amuse bouche should be counted as a course!
We booked for our wedding anniversary for lunch after hearing so much about this pretty location. We drove up to Berowra (about 45-60 minutes from Sydney) and after a long and winding road down to the water, we parked in the visitor parking area near the private wharf. It was only a minute before our private ferry arrived to take us to the restaurant.
Whilst not of their doing, the weather was a stunning spring event with blue, sunny skies, still water and cool breeze which all made the event of dining there very special. We were quickly seated by the friendly staff near the window to enjoy the view with our meal.
The degustation offering ($155 per person for 6 six courses) was delightful with a lovely mix of light, white/red meat and seafood. The chef is obviously talented as we had some absolutely gorgeous dishes (check out the photos). They all had a lovely flavour with hints of surprise with the use of fresh herbs and flowers. It is also interesting to note the menu changes seasonally so you may get something entirely if you dine there in the future.
Berowra Waters Inn is only accessible by boat or seaplane. When you make a reservation you are given a choice of two different wharfs where a boat will meet you and take you on a five or so minute trip out to the restaurant. Its not that far from the wharf but it really does feel like you are miles from anywhere. The place its self is an old style stone building that has been modernised with floor to ceiling glass, every table in the place has a great view.
Came here on a public holiday and these guys didn't charge any surcharge. Everyone was so nice from the boat driver to the wait staff. They told me the day I went that it was the first day of the new menu. There was no teething problems with the menu. The three savouries, the trout, the duck and the beef were so delicious. The views can not be beat of course. Can't wait to come back one day.
What a delightful experience! It's so exclusive, there is a private boat that takes you there. The atmosphere is so calm and relaxed, enhanced by the gorgeous water view, and the well-presented waitstaff. The set menu was incredibly refreshing and every bite was full of flavour.
A really nice restaurant and nice place for summer! A really good degustation. Suitable for summer lunches as the views won't be that impressive in the dark. Parking is extremely difficult on the weekends and don't go if you're in a rush because you wouldn't want to rush this meal.
Garnish your appetite in an elegant dining experience overlooking Berowa Creek at Berowra Waters Inn, accessible only via ferry pick up from the nearby wharf or opt for an extravagant experience by sea plane. Indulge in the delectable menu which will vary season to season, enjoyed in a daytime lunch setting or dine in an intimate sitting at night with that special someone. Dice your afternoon with the amuse-bouche, a light ginger based mousse balanced with a rich creamy soup side to cleanse our palates...
With Good Food Month raging all around Sydney, it's nice to just take a step back from the hustle, bustle and intensity and really sit back, relax and enjoy food for what it really is. That's why I was so excited to attend a Hat's Off Dinner at the luxurious Berowra Waters Inn.
Stunning location, stunning food...only let down was a haphazard and unpolished service. Really a place to just enjoy the day relaxing and looking out at the amazing view and eating fresh delicious produce. Wine pairing was really good, but portions were small for the price..maybe better to just order off the wine list and ask waiter to recommend a matching wine? A memorable experience nonetheless.
First time I came to Berowra Waters Inn was many years ago and had an amazing culinary experience. When I first heard they closed down I was absolutely guttered as memories of this place still lingered at the back of my mind. After hearing they had reopened with a new head chef, it was time to make another appearance by celebrating the fiancés 32nd birthday. As expected… the food was perfect in so many ways! See below for photos as it speaks for itself.
There are two ways to get to Berowra Waters Inn. One is by seaplane. The other is by private ferry. Of course there could be other ways. Rubber dinghy, canoe, paddle board and hovercraft are just some of the unconventional alternatives I consider as my private ferry pulls up to the restaurant. It’s a beautiful autumn day, not a cloud in the sky, as ripples of the Hawkesbury River lead me through beautiful bush land to one of the oldest dining institutions in the Sydney region.
Very good. Creative and tasty, a combination that seems hard to find at the moment.
et down by dessert which we found inconceivably boring despite the effort put in.
If you have wings and love swimming/flying then Berowra Waters Inn (Via East and West Pacific Wharves, Berowra Waters) would love to accommodate your visit (therefore you'll have to probably be a duck...ahahahahaha Bernard, nice one buddy, keep those ones coming). Only accessible via boat and seaplane, Berowra Waters Inn is a more than secluded restaurant hidden inside the bushes of the Hawkesbury and alongside Berowra Creek. For Patty's 21st Birthday I thought I'd surprise her (she found out before I even booked the place) with a romantic lunch. To make sure she doesn't break up with me any time soon the seaplane was the only option capable of accomplishing such a feat. Mister Seaplane Upon arrival we were greeted by the head chef himself, Mr Brian Geraghty and was lead to our table via the miniature wharf. There's quite limited seating inside so it get's a little quiet but the view is spectacular. Definitely recommend going during lunch. House made Tomato Butter Some smooth h
We make it to the tranquil and serene restaurant, manned by Irishman Brian Geraghty, of Quay and Bilson’s pedigree. The room is simple, serene, tranquil, and the staff are similarly serene and welcome us warmly. The menu is a 7 course degustation, priced at $175, and there is a wine matching option. But, in one of those rarities in fine dining land, they allow BYO (
Hat trick (n, sporting context): success achieved three times in the same game. In the cutthroat sport of restauranteering, three rounds of excellent results over multiple years of visits is something rarely achieved. But that’s exactly what Berowra Waters Inn has accomplished under Brian Geraghty in his stewardship of this remote restaurant. Sydney’s hidden gem remains as polished as ever.
Our final dish on the menu is Hazelnut, Mandarin, Milk Sorbet. The hazelnut tastes like Ferrero Rocher but is wonderfully soft and airy like a cross between a mousse and a marshmallow. The combination of the citrusy mandarin gel, milk sorbet and malt crumbles reminds me of breakfast (orange juice, milk and Ovaltine). I wish I could wake up to this every morning.
We chose to arrive in style by seaplane from Rose Bay, a high flying start to the day! Our original delight at the restaurant's location, and our wonderful window seat,

This is the type of fine dining restaurant food I love best, where the natural flavours of the food is the star and the food looks simple but is cooked with so much care. Definitely a place to share with the one you love.
On the first bite, I knew we were going to be in for a special afternoon. Dietmar Sawyere and his team have transformed the inn into a welcoming and spacious dining room. The inn was extensively refurbished in 2007. I love the limestone, the wooden floorb
A trip to Berowra Waters Inn is a journey, you might even call it a pilgrimage almost. It takes commitment and planning. Located along the Hawkesbury River, it’s a one hour drive north of Sydney leaving the confines of suburbia. Even when you get there, the journey is not quite over. The only way to get to the front door of this place is by boat, or if you have the cash to burn, by seaplane. And if its location doesn’t say ‘exclusive’ enough, to top it off, it’s only open for lunch on Friday-Saturday, and dinner for Friday and Saturday.
As the trip to the restaurant requires a bit of committment, but you can make the special occasion even more memorable by staying the night! The restaurant offers accommodation in their gorgeous B&B guesthouse overlooking Berowra Waters and the daily tari

This is where I experienced the best. Berowra Waters Inn gave me the best experience of dining in my life. The food was stunning, the service was amazing, and the ambience was warm and relaxing. I have been to many restaurants around the world including those with Michelin Stars and this place beats them all. It is a real destination for a dining experience.
My partner took me there on our holiday in Sydney. The good experience already started from the journey to a restaurant. It is located in a national park area, which has the stunning view. The restaurant is only accessible through water. So, there is this boat waiting for us when we arrived at the area to take us to the restaurant. Once we arrived, we was greeted by the staff, Carla and Michael (if I got their names right), who are amazingly friendly and helpful. They are another important part of my best experience here. Many restaurants I have been, though has delicious food, the service can be poor and made the whole dining experience less satisfied. But the service level we have experienced at Berowra Waters Inn is outstanding and consistent from the start to the end.
When come down to the food, we tried the degustation menu of 7 dishes. Every dish is beautifully done and taste amazing. My favourite dish was the Tooth fish & Pea while my partner fell in love with the dish called Scampi, Cucumber, Lime. The amount of food was just right that it didn't leave me too full or still feel hungry. The dishes and desserts were also well thought in term of ingredients and tastes to match with a rather hot, humid days. The taste of all the dishes was so good that it is still lingering on my lip... emmmm Yumm!
My experience at Berowra Waters Inn will be very difficult to be toppled by another restaurant in the future!
Sensational Experience. I'd heard so much about Berowra Waters Inn and just recently got to experience it myself. My expectations were exceeded. A beautiful scenery, wonderfully attentive service and the food was to die for!!! Brian, the chef and owner, has created a unique food experience since his recent take over. I had a 7 course degustation with matching wines. The place is a unique treat and well worth it for the value and quality. Very difficult to choose a favourite of the moreish degustation but the first course: Oyster, Squid and Cucumber with fresh, clean and clear flavours... I'll be dreaming about if for a long time!
Quite amazing. We arrived 45 minutes late due to an unforeseen delay - but the punt was waiting to ship us across to the restaurant and the head chef waiting to greet us. The degustation menu was sublime, we didn't do the matching wines ( being a Sunday) but that hardly detracted - a few glasses of the excellent wine line sufficed. The great achievement here is the amazing technique producing simpl foods..... Every morsel was cooked to perfection, every sauce brilliant. We kept thinking "wow" every time something arrived and it never disappointed - from the divine foamed vichyssoise, beatiful white asparagus, the roasted eggplant, the amazing razor clam and mud crab spaghettini, the super fresh scallops, the quail with mushrooms and cauliflower, the fab wagyu sirloin and the truly off the chart oxtail croustillant, the lemon and goats cheese cheese cake, and the amazing white choice panacotta. Just amazing and I can not recommend highly enough for the food and the experience. It would be the perfect spot to spend the coldest, rainiest, windiest, worst day of winter. I'm just happy to be able to say I have been there. You should too.
Absolutely awesome. had the 8 course menu with matching wines and was very impressed.
Out Of This World!. The most amazing dining experience ever. The location is to die for and the food is exquisite.

Divine. From the moment we drove into Berowra Waters we knew we were in for something special throughtout our 4 night stay.......there is something quite magical about the place.
Berowra Waters Inn was nothing short of sensational.....it oozes style and romance.
The staff were sincere, well informed, professional and courteous......nothing was a problem
The degustation left you in foodie heaven.....those oysters were simply stunning.
The ambience in the dining room was wonderful and you could feel the vibe......
As the sea planes departed we adjorned to the deck to sip another Pedro (on the house) and indulged in the view......4 or 5 hours of utter indulgence......memories made.
A dining highlight of the year.
The quintessential Australian experience. Extraordinary.
I went there for celebrating my birthday with my partner today. Everything we have eaten was amazing! Highly recommend to choose the classic wine pairing, the stuff will introduce each of the history behind the wine which is something I never experienced in other fine dining, and I found very interesting to listen to as well. Love all the wine, and I could tell it has taken bit of time to select the best wine to match with the meals. Will definitely come back when there’s a new course menu:) Wonderful experience!
We gastronomically welcomed in the new year with a 6 -course degistation menu at Berowra waters inn, which i can confirm is firmly in good hands at least for the next 15 years .
Although its only an hour’s drive or fast seaplane flight from Sydney to the beautiful Hawkesbury, Beeowra waters.
We opted to stay on a house boat for theee days and soak in the scenery . For dinner we were collected from our house on the river by a small boat, captianed by friendly Darryl.
The Inn itself is a beautiful 1800’s sandstone building reinvented by Glenn Murcutt- It has an iconically Australian look, which i love. Large floor to ceiling glass lovre windows, give you a front row seat to a river scene like a McCubbin painting, swooping birds, and Australian bush reflected in the sparkling Berowra waters.
The somillier Darcy was easy to talk to and full of knowledge, and found us the perfect wine .
The menu is very carefully considered and has incredible clean, precise and joyful dishes, which is a credit to the talented kitchen team.
We had some gorgeous houredervesthat started with a teaspoon mouthful size smoked Flathead beignet, a tiny ceramic cup of pea consommè with mint, then a delightful little fresh cucumber toped with kangaroo pastrami with a centre of cottage cheese.
The next dish flawed me, a crab and miso custard, the sweetest silk i have ever eaten.
Then the performance really got started, with Kingfish, Coconut & Cucumber.
A sweet little brioche loaf with tomato butter, was fluffy and so cute.
Then the nicest Murray cod piece seasoned expertly with yuzu and pepper, delicately succulent duck slice, served with blueberries flavoured with lavender.
The perfect amount of Lamb, topped with Chickpea.
Here we were offerd an extra cheese course of Holy goat cheve, but we declined, already wondering of we would be able to fit in desert.
The desert really impressed me, the rhubarb, with yoghurt and davidson plum, was akin to some kind of cheffing alchemy, plated like a flowering pink sea urchin, with slithered dried rhubarb perfectly placed that then dissolved like tart fairyfloss in my mouth, exceptional cooking.
To finish was a glossy little unasumming round of dark chocolate tart, with a pairing of fresh berries and cream. This was so well balanced and with the lightest thinest pastry
This is a magnificent magical dining experience. I highly recommend going. 10/10
Thank you Berowra Waters Inn for a memorable experience. Daryl was fantastic, such a relaxed and friendly captain. We were running slightly late and he immediately made us feel relaxed upon arrival. He also called to check in and provided handy directions.
Each dish was so creative combining fresh ingredients in such unique ways and plating them very beautifully. I appreciated the kitchen factors dietary requirements to create an inclusive experience. Well done to all the chefs!
The wait staff were an absolute delight, genuinely friendly, hospitable and pleasant to be around. It's a special hidden gem and I'm so glad I got to experience it!
Wonderful experience together with delicious food to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. We came here 10 years ago, could have been under a different management but it is still just as good an experience. Private ferry picks up from wharf. View is lovely, good service and nice calm relaxing view of the river
Lovely place, nice food, excellent services and ferry ride is a bonus!
One of the best fine dining experiences one can have in Australia.Quid Erat Demonstrandum.
This place is exceptionally well rounded. I loved atmosphere, service, food, and wine pairing. Getting there by a boat is also an experience. Every food was very detail oriented and intentional. Course flow was quite rhythmic and your expectations will go high as the course continues and this place will not let you down. I'm really excited for its next season menu. I humbly say this is the best one that I've been in Sydney.
Beautiful restaurant with beautiful food and impeccable service. Exactly what you expect from such an establishment, but you pay for that experience as well. Highly recommend the juice pairing, as well as the discovery wine pairing. Innovative and very clever.
