Review Stones Patisserie Berrima - Berrima

Great café located on the main road through Berrima. Nice selection of cakes and savoury options to choose from. Nicely decorated with lounges and high back armchairs. Customer service was friendly and food was prepared quickly.

Closed Wednesdays. Great pies in cosy location in the heart of Berrima. Recenty won the 2018 award for NSW best pie. It has outdoor seating on the verandah, good for lunch on a sunny day. Also has tables tucked away in many corners of the cosy interior. Staff a friendly and all around a good dining experience.

Scones were ok. Didn't seem overly fresh and a little bit bland. They were ok I guess, just not outstanding. Service was friendly and the place seemed busy. Prices were a little high but not too bad.

Didn't clear our table from the people before. Food took forever. Not even warmed. No table water till we asked 4 times. Very expensive. Food was decent when it came out.

Terrible services, very overpriced food $56 for 2 pies and 2 sausage rolls that took over 40 mins to come out and they were cold, very dry and disgusting. Beef done in red wine tasted like curry to be told by the waitress that they don’t really put much wine because they serve to children. Manager couldn’t care less about the poor service of her staff. Tables not cleaned. Saved yourself the trip and do not go to this pie shop. Lord knows how they won the best pie for 2018. Just read the other reviews seems everyone has same experience.

I made 2 mistakes and both were going to this bakery twice. The coffee was good but the food and service was terrible. The chicken and leek pie terrible the beef and something was awful a spinach thing tasted bland and I sent back a hot cross bun. The staff well they were just unskilled school kids. The best was the coffee and my $3.50 refund

Stopped for coffee between Canberra and Sydney. Quaint little place with great food, friendly staff and cosy atmosphere.

I had a high tea today I was thoroughly disappointed. The scones were hard and cold. The meringue was overcooked and not sweet at all. The pastry fell apart and was soggy. The lemon curd was not at all lemony. The macarons were stale and had far too much icing in the middle - that's all you could taste. The brownies were sticky and probably undercooked. Very disappointing, not what I would call high tea nor was it worth the money spent. Would not recommend it to anybody.

Lamb pie was fantastic! full of lots of meat and the pastry was light and flakey Well worth the drive
The chicken and the beef pies also got a thumbs up
Overall good service too

Beef mushroom and red wine pie had good flavour and tender meat pieces. Pork, thyme and garlic confit sausage roll was well-flavoured. Don't get the fries next time but ask for aoili. Reasonable speedy service. Chai pot was too milky. Double choc brownie was nice. Choc bread and butter pudding could have more chocolate.
I love their pies and sausage rolls, quality pastry and ingredients used. Scones are also scrumptious and the chai is a must for anyone who loves chai. I always drop in to Stone when I visit Berrima.

The plan was to have a pie 'face off' with Gumnut but we ran out of meal windows on our 3 days!
For Stones we selected the beef/red wine and the lamb/potato. Both had excellent tasty and well seasoned filling. The rosemary really added to the lamb pie and there was a deep richness to the beef.
Pastry was however disappointing. Not sure what happened but there was a distinct lack of crispness. It wasn't soggy as it held form all the way through but lack that crunch. The top was a little more to expectations but still not there. The case itself was impressively thin and even so it was a shame that we didn't see the whole pie at its best. No doubt on the filling though and look forward to getting the next one closer to noon than 5pm next time.

My partner told me about this place as she had stopped there previously on her way back from Sydney to Canberra. So on Good Friday I decided to drive up and see for myself. We ordered bread and butter pudding and also I was persuaded to spend $16 on a chicken pie. The pudding arrived first and was sweet, buttery and enjoyable. However after some considerable wait the other food did not arrive. Having to leave we approached staff and we're informed there was a glitch in the kitchen.
We were never informed of this so subsequently, after a refund, left disappointed. Sorry if you are going to charge premium dollars then you have to offer appropriate service. It is unfortunate that, given this experience, I won't bother to try it again.

Berrima is a quaint little town in New South Wales’ Southern Highlands that plays host to numerous jam shops, the stunning Berkelouw Book Barn, and Stones Patisserie. On weekends, the shop is filled with locals catching up with each other over coffee and some cakes. They stock pretty much everything you need for a tea party.Along one of the walls are shelves and baskets of fresh baked bread, artisan jams, and organic chocolates. Another counter next to the entrance holds jars of strawberry meringues and a towering Christmas tree made of numerous sweets.

Unexpected stop on return from Melbourne to Sydney - couldn't resist a pastry (or 2..). Both strawberry and pear tarts were lovely, the pear tart seemed to contain an entire pear - both had just the right balance, great textures, and fortunately no chocolate lining in the strawberry tart. Ambience excellent, sandstone building, possibly the best bathroom I've ever been in. All pastries made on site, and a fantastic selection. The owner was friendly and helpful, I'll definitely be back next time I'm nearby, and I'd like to explore Berrima further too.

So yes, I am a pie connoisseur and I travel far and wide for pies. Stones Patisserie has by far the best pies in the country - and I have had MANY pies from all over NSW and VIC. Crunchy and fluffy pastry with a slow-cooked beef and mushroom filling! Not too saucy. Not dry. But perfect!

Incredible scones too and a great almond-milk cappuccino!

Thanks Stones Patisserie!!

Wonderful staff, service, atmosphere and excellent food, my fave place in Berrima to eat at the moment! The lemon meringue tart and fudgey chocolate peanut butter cookies are a must.

Stones represents all that is good about the historic town of Berrima. The sandstone facade and paving mades outdoor dining a little tricky but gives the cafe a lovely atmosphere. Inside, the cabinets of sweets and pastries are mouth-watering and I defy you to show any self restraint!

I had the slow cooked lamb salad for lunch which was the best decision i've ever made. The lamb was succulent and plentiful! Mum had the chicken pie which was delicious and came with a large green salad on the side. My chai latte came ready brewed in a teapot and was spicy and sweet.

True to form, I went back for a lunch dessert (whicb is definitely a thing by the way) and I had the cherry and apple bread and butter pudding. While it wasn't quite heatec all the way through, the apples and cherries were delicious amd I inhaled this!

Run, don't walk!

Went here for a quick morning break and decided to order their Beef Gourmet Pie and a sweet treat from their display cabinet..
Beef Pie was good and aromatic with chunky beef, mushrooms and gravy sauce with hints of red wine flavour.. But I was disappointed with the Raspberry and Cream Cake! Being priced at $12.5, it was frozen when it came on my table and couldn't taste any flavour other than sweet.

Got there around 2.30pm on a saturday afternoon and it wasn't too busy.

They have a large variety of cakes and pies on offer.

We only got to sample their coffee and tarts. We tried the cherry and custard tart as well as the strawberry and custard tart!

Loved the strawberry - had a huge strawberries on top and still tasted fresh.

Order and pay at the counter and they will bring the items to your table (you will have to let them know which table you are sitting at in advance - there is numbers on the table)

Very helpful staff with a lot of patience as you may take your time deciding due to the many tasty treats on offer!

Great Brunch. My wife and I were just passing through Berrima looking for brunch, and came across this place. Fantastic bacon and eggs with balsamic glazed mushrooms, with a good, strong flat white. Amazing array of baked goods, and if we're ever down this way again, we'll be stopping by!

Disappointing service. Regularly drop in here on our way to Canberra. Seems they have new management. Food is good but service is terrible and will not return. Charged us for things they did not provide. Ignored our requests. Ignored customers who ended up leaving without ordering. Unpleasant experience.
