Review Zen Oasis Vegetarian Restaurant - Berrima

We returned with our neighbour after our great dinning experience on Christmas Day with family. Big improvement in selection of dishes. Our neighbour was very happy with the dinning experience in terms of spacious environment and the quality of food. Highly recommended if you are looking for some delicious vegetarian cuisines in the Southern Highlands !

Gorgeous setting an hour and a half drive from Sydney. There is plenty of parking. Beautiful playground as well. The gardens and sculptures are gorgeous, it’s beautiful and lush. They’ve recently renovated. The newly renovated restaurant is very modern and clean. They’ve also got function rooms where are versatile. We had yum cha here on Christmas day. The food is all handmade so it's worth the price. The dumplings are the best and the deep fried enoki mushrooms are a MUST! All of the dishes are beautifully presented. The sago mango pudding is the best. The service was very friendly and happy.

It's so glad to see the restaurant re opens. So many new things to see. Great landscape, native plants garden, kids play ground, extended walk pathway, new decking & pergola with fabulous lake view. My Mom loves the tofu particularly, we took three dishes. Nice smoothie and ice chocolate 😋! As expected there was long queue "full house" but worth the wait 😌! The yum cha taste really fresh! Coming back next week on weekday to try out Cafe! Hope it will be amazing too!

It's delicious 😋! Came with my sisters and kids. Staffs were very friendly and set up the tables for us. The vegetarian lasagna tastes beautiful! We ordered an extra for takeaway. Thank you Zen Oasis!

Great place IF you are vegan or vego. If not it's just fake yum cha so not worth the price or drive. Good but different. The green spaces outside are really nice however the dinning room feels like a funeral place. Seeing all the empty function rooms makes the place look like it is closing down.

I'm not a vegetarian but the food here is amazing that I've eaten here 3 times. Traveling 90km one way for lunch. I would definitely visit again. The food is exquisite, very well prepared that the food even has the texture and appearance of meat. Watch out for the wildlife! Plenty of roos about

Quite underwhelmed by this place, I didn't take any photos of the food. Once upon a time it was a buffet and the food was fresher, hotter and better value for money. This time it was expensive, and things came on the trolley or you had to order. Some dishes were too salty, otherwise not hot.... The positive was the nice grounds the restaurant is in. Nice short stroll with some sculptures and good space for kids to run around in. I hope post-covid they'll bring back the buffet and keep food piping hot

Not the same as before… 😔 bring back buffet… food isn’t that good… but the garden is very nice… 3 stars because of that… ⭐️⭐️Bring back buffet 😔😔⭐️⭐️

A perfect get away from the busy city, everything was calm and people are not rushing for anything, they took their time to appreciate the food, the people they are with and the tranquillity of the place. The food is absolutely amazing and staff are genuinely there to please and make your experience memorable, i felt relaxed and at peace with everything... highly recommended...

Great food (esp being all vegetarian), lovely atmosphere and an excuse to get out of Sydney once in a while. Been here several times and the food options does change. Variety is the spice of life. They have a huge garden that features a lake, where you can burn or calories afterwards.

This is one of my favourite vegetarian place. I first visited it back 10 years ago and would spend the whole day driving there had lunch and driving back to Sydney. Food so tasty and freshly prepared. And the lake and trees surrounding it are just divine! I probably go once a year but later started to take my babies (now kids) there and they would have a good time running around the area. Looked at the cows, running in the maze. Really miss this place. Now we are in Melbourne it's way too far to go back but next time we drive back to Sydney I would love to go again

Buffet! Who doesn't love buffets! Unfortunately I only had 1 hr to eat and this was not enough because I left half full. ☹ Normally it is 2 hours if you arrive at 11:30 as the session ends at 1:30 but alas we were late and they start closing lids to the food at 1:15.<br/><br/>Still got to try a bunch of vegan dishes but there still were far too many vegetarian. Kinda thought it would be mostly vegan.<br/><br/>The food was a bit hit and miss - the nice ones were delicious but the average ones were well, average.<br/><br/>I'd still go back again maybe a few months later as it is a 1.5 hour drive. There is a lovely garden which you can explore as well and take a bunch of photos. It was very touristy and they even had large tour buses parked in the car park.

A fantastic vegetarian buffet. A gem in middle of no where. I was bit worried to try it since there were no other choices around the area, but I was so great. All staff were extremely friendly and there were so much variations of food! Will be back again~

Beautiful location in Berrima. So peaceful and tranquil. Love the variety of Asian style vegetarian foods including delicious desserts! The service is fantastic! Highly recommended!

A place where we have went back few times and have known that they have increased their price 3 times so far. Sitting in middle of no where, the restaurant is only open on weekends and preferably with bookings made prior to the visit to avoid disappointment. We love the array of food on buffet. Fried mushroom, kungpo mock meat, fried seaweed, lotus roots soup, burdock tea are some of our favourites. Some of the food will differ on different visit. There was even panda shaped sushi. You can go as many rounds as you can within 11.30am-1.30pm. Their motto is eat as much as you can as long as there is no food wastage. Before we leave, we will buy burdock tea. Once loaded with food, one can walk around the compound to relieve the extra weight. *wink

Zen Oasis is the name and it's exactly what they aim to achieve. We headed for a long drive out with my wife's family to Berrima aka middle of nowhere, to dine at an All-You-Can-Eat Vegetarian Buffet. I know... doesn't sound all too amazing...but we were in for a treat.<br/><br/>As they only offer a two hour dining session open to the public... we chose to get there earlier... and it seems like all the other people had the same idea. With twenty minutes to kill, like everyone else, we wandered in the cold around their lake, gardens and sculptures... taking pictures and freezing our faces off.<br/><br/>Finally the line started building at the door and everyone calmly made their way in. Inside you'll be greeted by polite and hospitable Asian servers (I was just as shocked writing that statement as seeing it first hand).<br/><br/>Also it was warm and had the feel of a cabin with an open fireplace and calming "zen" music echoing through the restaurant.<br/><br/>The restaurant is divided into three sections, entrees, mains and desserts with the drinks attached to the dessert section. The entrees mainly consisted of delicious deep fried goodies such as curry puffs, spring rolls, deep fried mushrooms and more.<br/><br/>The mains were more of a let down for me... mostly more simple, larger servings of edible vegetarian food... there was even a sushi section as well.<br/><br/>The fake chicken drumstick was definitely my favourite... and was a crowd pleaser as everytime I hit the buffet lines... this dish was always empty.<br/><br/>The dessert section were an assortment of sweets... all of which really did not tickle my fancy.<br/><br/>For a vegetarian buffet.. this had a large array of choices, the food was above average and I can see why people drive over an hour out of Sydney to just dine here and then probably drive back...

Zennnn yummmm. This restaurant is great! im not a vegetarian but mum has been a vegan for nearly 3 years so ive been out and about trying vego food and i gotta say this is 1 of the best vego places ive ever been to! the scenery was great to start with, i feel like i was in heaven! the staff wee great and had no problems with me taking photos of food. <br/><br/>most of the food was wonderful! REALLY loved their oyster mushroom, there was something about that crunchy batter that was so magical, and i loved the fact that the mushroom was bland, so that you can taste everything that was in the well-seasoned batter! not too much of a fan of the lemon chicken but the fried rice was also another popular dish!<br/><br/>their dessert menu was wonderful, my fave was definitely tiramisu! i wish i hadnt eaten too many pieces of sushi so that i could have eaten more tiramisu. another highlight was the sushi! the rice was well-seasoned with the right amount of vinegar and there were so many types to choose from. <br/><br/>loved the place, i wish it were closer to the city so that i could visit it more often whenever im in sydney!
Snapshots Of Food
What a lovely peaceful dining experience at Zen Oasis.  Before we stuffed ourselves with vegetarian food, we walked by 'Qiqi' the tilting utensil.  "Tilted when empty, uupright when half full; overturns when full. Which type of posture do you think you assume in everyday life? Full? Empty? Or, perhaps, super upright?" I poured mine half way :)  The view is so calming with a picturesque garden - it was simply breathtaking.  The welcome sign on the door created a Welcome Home feel (not that I have a welcoming sign or anything) but in movies, it's always home sweet home with a welcome sign (or doormatt). Since we traveled over an hour to get here, might as well be tourists! Truly a different dining experience - we're inside a bamboo house! Many cute displays around the restaurant (way too cute!!!!) Feature picture. There were lots of bonsai's at Zen Oasis!  The deep fried food section! There were curry puffs, spring rolls, sesame balls, wontons, wu gok, crispy sweet soy seaweed crackers (amazing, I had an entire plate). It was highly addictive! The service just started and as you can see, the deep fried section is a popular choice. Fried rice - This was an acquired taste. We didn't particularly enjoy the fried rice but everyone has different tastebuds! Dessert bar We have mochi, jelly, puddings, panacotta, yoghurt, cakes etc! Fruit platter Freshly made Sushi  Salad bar Crystal dumplings - loved the wrapper (it was quite chewy) and refreshing. Sui Mai Oyster mushroom fritters and the take on vegetarian fish. Miso Soup The lemon tea was highly addictive, refreshing, sweet and DELICOUS! MY FRIEND SAID THERE WAS A PANDA SUSHI. I didnt' know what she was on about.  Until I saw this. Below is the black sugar mochi Cute displays yet again!! Thank again Zen Oasis for the discounted buffet price. It was truly a different experience. Thank you

Today we are out here in Zen Oasis for our company EoFY trip, and the place is just absolutely gorgeous. Please note that this is a vegetarian restaurant. It is not vegan and definitely not gluten free. Gluten is what mock meat is made of .

Vegetables and mock tofu of sorts coated in a batter then fried to a golden brown. The mini spring rolls were really good and highly addictive.

Zen Oasis is a vegetarian buffet restaurant… It is only open on the weekends, and you MUST book! Their vegetarian Chinese food is top notch! Everything is made so delicately, and you can find most meat imitation dishes… From dim sims, to bbq pork, and many desserts ! The restaurant is around an hour away from Sydney, so perfect for a day-trip on a weekend! It’s an experience I think you can find no where else in Sydney

This has got to be one of the most unusual buffet restaurants I've been to. For one thing, it's situated one and a half hours away from Sydney, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Literally. All you can see around here is lots of plain, empty land. The

The entrance to Zen Oasis is a long gravel road lined with crisp scented pine trees. The restaurant itself, is a large wooden lodge surrounded by gorgeous landscaped gardens and rolling green hills. To complete the scene, there's even a picturesque lake.
