love the crispy beef, sizzling tofu and crispy noodle. very delicious meal. nice restaurant too spacious and easy to park. services is ok...fast and courteous.

Good choice for local zi char style chinese/straits chinese cooking. 烧鸭 (roast duck) is tasty and cooked well. The two-way fish is their signature dish and looks impressive but the taste is pretty average.
Authentic Chinese. The roast duck is good, but the standout dish was the hokkien tofu. It really surprised me. Silky smooth and with a great sauce to go with it. Vegetables were also cooked just right, a sign that the chef knows what they're doing. All in all a good meal.
Haven't been here for a while, and have been hearing food quality is up & down. Decided to give it a go last week, and am glad to say they restored my confidence!
Good points: Roast duck is the dish that every table orders. They did it well tonight, crispy skin and well presented. I also took a liking to their steamed chicken with ginger & shallot.
A tip, when booking a table, please enquire with the lady boss on the food you would have to pre-order. This is to avoid disappointment.
Took some Chinese friends to dinner and they were most impressed. Food is very authentic and service both attentive and respectful. Owner is very active in the business which is always a good sign. Highly recommended.

There is always that one restaurant every family would first consider whenever there is a family gathering or even catching up with friends, for many Asian families North Lake BBQ is that place, south of the river of Perth at the least. The owners of this place have history dating back of when they were the previous owners of Eureka Chinese Restaurant in Wilson, their star dish, the classic ‘roast duck’. Kitty, the owner, sold Eureka and moved to a bigger place here in Bibra Lake which many of its loyal customers like myself followed.
Excellent food and service! Dishes prepaid quickly and very yummy! Similar to what was Eureka restaurant in Wilson. I like the eggplant dish and the crispy chicken, among others.
The lovely ladies at Perth Food Enthusiasts invited me to a blogger dinner at North Lake BBQ which brought all those memories back to life!
The food at Chinese restaurants is designed for sharing. You should order steamed rice and heaps of dishes to spin around on the lazy Susan, plus your favourite Chinese tea.
Likes: combination mushrooms, Peking crispy beef, prawn toast (always
North Lake BBQ got an impressive venue, very big and looked luxurious. It's probably one of the biggest Chinese restaurants in town with lots of tables. Food came out pretty quick. Service was alright. I loved the Cereal Prawns, Sizzling Japanese Tofu, Fried Eggplants and Mongolian Beef. I disliked like the Roast Duck (Pre-ordered) though. It didn't have a lot of meat and quite fatty. Remaining dishes were ok. We weren't sure what temperature they put the air con on coz after a while the room got really hot and we all had to take our jackets off. My winter baby got heat rashes all over her body afterwards. And even though the venue is big and our table was far from kitchen, we got that smell all over after dinner. Yes the food were good but I'm a bit hesitant to go back for above reasons. Sorry Inexology , I know this is one of your favourite restaurants :(
Heard this place houses the original chef from Eureka Chinese Restaurant, so headed here to try out the dishes. Had to pre-order the Roast Duck and Fish 2-Ways. The duck was actually pretty good, not dry, meat well seasoned and plenty of meat on the duck - quite happy with it. The fish was ok, different but the 2 ways meant half of the meat was steamed with garlic and ginger and the other half battered and deep fried with chilli pepper seasoning. Prepared and looked appealing, but taste wise nothing unique. Other dishes ordered was the Golden Prawns, Peking Beef, Sambal Spinach, Sizzling Tofu and Honey Pepper Spare Ribs. Standard - though the prawns were below par and small portion for Chinese restaurant; and the Beef was quite nice with tangy sauce and fried well. Think the reputation more than taste is the attraction.
Love this place despite being located a bit far. I love their steamed chicken, its very moist and fragrant. Make sure you preorder the steamed chicken in advanced if you want it. The homemade tofu with hokkien sauce is also my favourite, along with crispy beef and crispy roast chicken. Service in general is really good, a rarity in Chinese restaurant these days. Staff are attentive and quite knowledgable with their menu. And I think they are very honest with their opinion. One time I tried to order a dish and the waiter told me that the dish is not that nice and we might not like it, so he recommended me another dish which we love :)
This was actually my first visit to North Lake BBQ as I don’t live near that area. My lovely friend EVA invited me and my wife for her birthday celebration there. I was actually very impressed with this restaurant.
First of all, while location is a bit far from city or suburb where I live, they have plenty of carpark. Located next to a gym allowing customers with additional carpark especially during dinner hour cause hey you need to eat after exercising right.
The food itself was amazing. The portion, oh let me talk to you about the portion which was super generous which was quite surprising considering the price on the menu. It was definitely worth it, especially when not only the portion was plenty, but the food was really really delicious. Love the duck, love the tofu, love the veges, love the roast chicken, love the prawn, especially love the beef, love love love it!!
Finally, this is what shock me the most, the staffs were very attentive! Okay, seriously speaking, in many of my recent post on Chinese restaurant, you probably could tell that I was very disappointed with the staffs. Many were really poor (ie take long time in coming up with my request / ignoring my hand waving up in the air), BUT NORTH Lake BBQ Staffs were actually super awesome, they came quickly the moment they saw my hand up in the air, and they actually came back with my order almost immediately! Not once did I have to ask twice for anything, be it tap water, refill on rice, or even the cut chilli! I was really impressed. Really.
I will come back again. No matter how far, I will come back again. Mark my word.
You should too.
Came here for Chinese new year dinner with family. The cny banquet was great! The 10 dishes were not too heavy and were traditional Chinese food (no deep fried foods). It included the cny ginger and salmon salad, soup, whole fish, pan fried vegetables, mushroom dish, duck, chicken, red bean dessert and more! Would recommend this place!
The best dish would be the roast duck! So tasty, crispy and good portion size.. service would be the downfall.. Was hard to get a waitress and their english isnt really good too.. Ordered then sizzling tofu but it wasnt as good as uncle billy.. They use the cheaper tofu and sauce was soury?
North Lake BBQ is my new favourite Chinese restaurant for many reasons:
1. Close to where I live.
2. Their specialty roast duck is one of the best I've ever had in Australia. You have to pre-order at least 24 hrs in advance.
3. Nice ambience. Big and spacey. Great for functions.
4. Good value, reasonably priced.
5. Generous serving.
6. Plenty of free parking.
7. If you are organising a big function, they are happy to discuss banquet options that will suit your budget.
The roast duck is the main attraction of this restaurant. Food was delicious and at a reasonable price too. However, service is very poor when there are many people. The waiters/waitresses tend to ignore you even if you have your hands raised up high. This happened with me a few times and I had to get up and walk to them. It would have been fine if the spaces between the tables were spacious enough without the need to keep bumping to other customers. There was also once, when one of the waiters served us steamed chicken in sauce and his whole thumb was dipped into the sauce. However, this only happened once. So, if you are looking for chinese food with reasonable prices, this is a place to go. But be sure you're ready to put up with the service.
Some food need to be pre-ordered.
Could this be Perth's best roast duck? It's on the other side of the city, and a pre order is required; so an element of pre meditation is essential. It's a generous serve, half is missing from the pictured plate, all gobbled within moments. The notable thing is the flesh - still with a blush of pink and generously moist, quite unlike those Northbridge ducks that have been drying out under lights for the whole day.
My mother-in-law has been mentioned this restaurant for a while and actually bought takeaway food for us, they were great, tasty and delicious! BUT wait until you go to the restaurant and eat it yourselves!!
We went there for Thursday dinner, preordered roast duck and steam chicken. Then on the menu we ordered sambal long beans, homemade tofu and spicy prawn + vermicelli (if you want to grade how spicy it is,its medium)
If you know the Eureka in Wilson where is the famous for roast duck, this restaurant is the original owner of there. My mil recognised the lady owner.
- Roast duck was just juicy in the meat and crispy on the skin. Some fat in between but not ridiculous sickening thick. I love chicken thigh but not duck thigh as most roast duck thigh were a bit dry, this one is acceptable moist. Still duck breast is the best!
- Steam chicken they really can make into Hainanese chicken if they want to. Soft and melt into your mouth. Chicken thigh~~ yum
- Spicy prawn + vermicelli claypot (the Chinese mung bean vermiclle – we were originally want prawn as main dishes but seems like the vermicelli is the main highlight. Spicy sauce + shrimp fried in claypot which we just pushed the prawns aside and ate the vermicelli first
- Vege the same…quite nice with the flavour
- Homemade tofu unfortunately you can ignore this. We are a big fan of tofu but quite a disappointment because the sauce a letdown. I think because all other meal taste so strong the tofu is just the last thing to finish it.
On the other hand the restaurant is quite good, very spacious and airy. You find it funny the wall have different wallpaper in each section – funny setup but very comfy
And if you find bored, go there on Thursday (or most Thursday according the sign ) – there is a live band - 1 singer singing chinese songs. It's a bit loud when we thing to have a conversation...... You feel like you are in asian country when having a meal there.
My favorite place so far............
Ever since this place was taken over by the previous eureka owner, it has greatly improved! Came here before eureka took over and I was disappointed. So glad we know where the eureka owners have moved too! One of our favourite dishes is the roast duck, ( you have to pre-order it and I highly recommend it). It's always crispy and does not have the "duck smell". We also love the fried eggplant dish and crispy beef. Lovely place for a hearty chinese feed!
I visited this place with the family on a Thursday night. On Thursdays there is live entertainment provided by talented Andrew Chai who performs a selection of chinese and English classics on his keyboard.
We ordered 7 dishes to be shared between 10 people (along with white rice). Service was quick and reasonable.
The star dish of the night was the roast duck. It was crispy and tasty. Most importantly, it was prepared fresh and not the reheated ducks that most restaurants serve when the turn over isn't quick.
Other dishes were sizzling Japanese tofu with salted chicken, battered snapper in Thai style, kai lan with salted and century egg, crispy chicken, salt and pepper spare ribs, and sizzling beef. These dishes were similar to most popular chinese restaurants in perth.
Unlike other chinese restaurants, this restaurant isn't too busy so it provided a pleasant non crowded environment for family dinners.
Rather than going into northbridge for that standard chinese food, this place is worth visiting to avoid parking difficulties particularly if you live south of the river. Quality and pricing is reasonable. If you're craving for some good roast duck, this place is worth a visit.

This place is run by the previous Eureka owner - very good roast duck, at least my Favourite in Perth. Was so glad we found the Eureka roast duck again 😋
I went here with a group of friends every Friday due to their cheap lunch special menu and some meals were so tasty! The top meals that we always ordered were Sanxi Fried Noodle and Satay Beef with Special Fried Rice, we never forgot to ask them for cut chili too. I have a feeling that one day we will be able to get through the whole lunch special menu and put photos of each dish here.
Kitty, the owner, was always so welcoming and friendly. She liked to introduce us to new menu that the North Lake BBQ has such as the Shanghai dumplings and BBQ Pork with rice / noodle. The lunch special menu was really recommended if you work around the Bibra Lake area and tried to find another option to dine at.
The restaurant was formerly known as Serai Dining and located nearby the Adventure World. It's very spacious and will be suitable for group dining or even to be booked as a function.
GR8 Chinese food. I just love the freshness of the food served here, cooked to perfection....the roast duck and steamed ginger garlic chicken is so delicious and the service is excellent. Order these two dishes the day B4.Booking is essential because it is always FULL. The attentiveness of the "Boss Lady" is really a credit to this restaurant and I will give it a 5**** keep up the good work!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED++++
First time customer. Ordered takeaway from the website, easy to use and intuitive. The food......the food was amazing. Hands down best I have had. BBQ pork was succulent and flavourful, the sauce on the lemon grass chilli beef was perfectly balanced and the bean sprout noodles were perfect. Not mention polite and friendly service. I don't often tell people I'm a chef of 20 years but as a proffesional chef I HIGHLY recommend this place. First time customer, now a customer for life. Thank you North Lake BBQ.
Someone told me after the previous owner had moved out, the quality of the food here had dropped. Not so, cause the $10 lunch special lemongrass chicken with fried rice was delicious. The chicken was so tender and it gave grill-BBQ taste and wonderful aroma. We enjoyed this meal. We liked the well-roasted $11 fried vermicelli with hot egg sauce. We had added soy sauce to the less salty egg sauce. And we gave our feedback to the staff to add more egg sauce in future. Good lunch though. (2021-10)
I think I've found the best Chinese food in Perth ...
Great service ... Great food ...
Last time special Sweet and sour pork with fried rice pork was so tender and easy to eat and my friend had sweet sour fish cooked beautifully and we also got the spring rolls done perfectly
I really liked the old-style Chinese setup and how helpful the staff were on the day I dropped in on a whim. Having just moved into the area, it reminded me of many similar places in Melbourne where I grew up and was relaxed and comfortable from the get-go although I dined in alone. Great choices for lunch specials and would very much return and would like to see how big the regular menu servings are, given the lunch special was more than plenty! Everything was great and fairly cheap on the wallet. Would recommend anyone to drop in and give them a go for sure... can't wait to return for a dinner sometime soon - may add another star if it's just as good!
My favourite Chinese near my house doesn't deliver but the good news is that North Lake BBQ Chinese does! I like the charred taste of the noodles, like they have been cooked in a super hot wok like Asian street food tastes. Definitely a close second from me! 😊
(24 Jan 2020) I am back here again for Chinese New year reunion dinner. I just felt that I have to add comments here again. I called to reserved the table somewhere in early January and Kitty said that she will text me the confirmation and menu. However, it took me a while to reply as I was away but she remembered my reservation and had been following up with me. A good service. On the actual day, the restaurant was super busy and Kitty again remember me when I told her who I was and the food is superb. But I want to come t again that nice food without positive customer experience does not mean anything. The service was excellent even though the restaurant was pack and everyone was super busy. This proof that my posting review about good service was correct and kudos to the owner for continuing to main the high quality of service and also the food.
===================================
(1st posting) Food is nice and ambience is great. The service of the waitress is excellent. Location is easy to find.
Delicious and good quality food,. This restaurant famous with the roast duck and last night we ordered it. The roast duck really good and crispy! A lot of Chinese restaurants using a cheap rice, but this restaurant is different. The steam rice really good! The price itself very reasonable. The salt and pepper flounder and crispy beef is my recommendation beside the roast duck, you will like it!
