Review Shibuku Japanese - Bicton

Yan
Visited for lunch, it was okay. The Unagi bento set was actually quite nice for $26, the assorted sides were tasty and the unagi was nicely sliced and perfectly cooked. The teriyaki beef bento for $18 was a little disappointing, it came with an egg sushi instead of salmon nigiri like the photo on the menu, and the teriyaki sauce had an odd flavour like it was cooked with butter. Tako karaage was very tasty though! Service was abrupt and minimal, and food took over half an hour to come out despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Overall it was okay but I wouldn't recommend it.

I reckon this place is ok only except for their deep fried food. Quite expensive. Staff is friendly though. Their deep fried food is very very nice, So make sure to order that. Sashimi is nice as well. Big space, good for large group gathering.

Was a very good experience, quality food which also looks and tastes healthy. I liked the silky tofu salad very much, especially the dressing was a delight. I’d say the sashimi and sushi would also be great options, however we skipped due to health conditions.

To me this place has been overrated. We ordered the spider roll last night and would definitely say this is the worse sushi roll that I ever had! The rice was overcooked and the whole dish was flavorless. Wouldn't want to come back again! Food just ok nothing special and over priced. There are many better japanese restaurants around.

Was quite excited to try this place. Although it has a lovely ambience for dining, overall experience was disappointing. As you can see from the photo, bento box was so simple that could easily be made and put together at home. Although there’s edamame beans, there’s no salad like other Japanese restaurants which I feel is essential for that refreshing meal experience. Sushi rice flavour was very bland and karage chicken was soggy and hard, not crispy at all. And rockmelon… 2 tiny pieces??? Come on… it just looks horrible in the empty square. Service was also disappointing, only one waitstaff on the floor which made it hard to try and get attention for service especially behind all the divider screens. Based on the experience and other reviews, don’t think I’ll been keen to return.

The food was ok, nothing amazing. Service by the wait staff was very nice even if their knowledge of the items of the menu was limited. The place seemed very busy and it felt like they didn't need your business. The sake options were generous but the discriptions didn't tell you anything about the polishing levels of the rice and the waiters couldn't help. They had kids cutlery and colouring in pens which was nice. We arent compelled to go back however.

We came because of the high evaluation on the Internet, and as a result, the meals were very ordinary and lacking in characteristics. We ordered two kinds of sushi rolls, beef and steamed eggs, which were all average. A serving of steamed eggs costs 12.5, but it is a small one. I think it is not directly proportional to the price. Two people ate almost 90 but we were not very full either. To put it simply, I think the price of the menu is too much higher than the quality of the meal.
Diana
Small portion, great taste, they charged extra for ginger, chilli , wasabi @1/ea.

So lucky to have this local restaurant - good prices, BYO and great Japanese food

The food was delicious

Mate and I were craving japanese noodle soup so we ordered take away on a Wednesday night. I ordered the chicken udon soup and she ordered the tofu ramen. 10 minutes later, we took our big bowls of hot noodles and extra chilli back to hers to enjoy. $15 each is quite well priced. The broth my udon came with was flavorful and very delicious. Not a lot of chicken in the serve. My friends tofu ramen had a little bit of soup but wasn't as soupy as mine. Hers was a very generous portion. I will return to try to gyoza and katsu curry as they are my usual favourites.

a bit disappointed. i ordered a veg curry, expected more veg than what i got. only got rice, curry sauce, a few bits of carrot and the rest was potato. maybe its meant to be just potato? but would have been nice if it said "potato curry" instead of veg, and only get potato pieces...

Where to start.... The guy that took my order couldn’t have cared less and wanted me off the phone quick as he could. ordered gyoza which said 8 serves but included 7. Teriyaki don bowls with hardly any teriyaki sauce.
Not great experience
Mimi
Great portion sizes! Very friendly staff, the small place was so cozy and nice, seemed clean. The food just delicious!! They attended to us straight away and it was a busy night, food came quick. Great affordable prices! Can't wait to go back!

Been here a couple of times. Today had the ramen and the karaage was too deep fried and the soup base had very little flavour. Big bowl and OK but will not come back for the ramen as it was very disappointing. Other items are ok. It's average for a takeaway jap place.

This is such a random place for a restaurant but it's a little gem. I love the dumplings and the sushi was super fresh also. Great after a nice walk along the river.

I bought an agedashi tofu and large sashimi platter to takeaway. Personally I prefer my agedashi crunchy with the sauce separate for dipping, although a lot of Japanese food outlets I've noticed combine the two. That's fine if you have large pieces of tofu and a small amount of sauce. In this case small cubes of tofu swimming in a tub of sauce made it all a bit sloppy. It tasted nice but lacked that yummy crunch factor I look for. The sashimi platter ... well put it this way, I could have done better myself with some sashimi grade tuna from Woolies. Usually sushi chefs serve sashimi like a little garden, with curled up slices of ginger, elegantly sliced pieces of cucumber and carrot ... wasabi artfully placed. This was just just bits of sliced cabbage with raw fish on the top. The fish was fresh and properly cut, just lacking in presentation. The restaurant itself looked nice enough for dine-in, however there needs to be more prominent signage regarding parking options.

Terrible! $18 bucks for a Chicken Katsu box which is just microwaved Woolworths schnitzel, rice, cheap coleslaw and mayo. If you want a meal which is better quality, greater variety and cheaper head 1km up the road to Silver Sushi. Not perfect but alot better!
Lei Zhang
Possibly the worst Japanese I've ever had in Perth. If you went to woollies and bought a frozen chicken schnitzel, bought some peri peri mayonnaise and made some rice, that would be better that the chicken katsu don I ordered.
The salmon teriyaki was over cooked and the salad that comes with the Bento was drenched in sauce.
Shoey Kay
I ordered two items, gyoza, and teriyaki chicken sushi roll, at a cost of $16.50. I have never been more disappointed in my life.
The gyoza, apparently freshly cooked, was luke warm and soggy, with all this fried crap stuck to the bases.
The sushi was foul. There was no evidence of teriyaki glaze or marination, the sushi was soft and fell apart, and strangely, there was coleslaw inside the sushi roll.
I had a similar experience here 8 months ago, and thought I'd give them a second chance. I ordered the same items and honestly, it was far worse this time around and I just couldn't eat it.

The food is amazing but as a frequent customer, I feel that a loyalty card system would be more rewarding for the customers and provide more of an incentive to come back!
Thanks a bunch

Love this place! Service is great, they've even brought it out to me in my car. Really high quality produce used and perfectly cooked each time. Highly rate the ramen and affordable pricing :)

Portions are small, but it's cheap compared to similar offerings in the area. I've only had takeaway - the restaurant area isn't that inviting, quite frankly.

The food is tasty, no doubt. But some other factors could have been better.
The serving size is not very generous. Some other Japanese restaurants give a lot more for the same price. Location, decoration, cleanliness nothing is too great. The parts of kitchen which are visible looked a bit filthy. Sometimesa bad odor comes from somewhere, source unknown.
It takes really long for them to serve food during pick hour.
They serve very small amount of condiment like ginger/ Wasabi. They will charge more and serve a little amount if you ask for some extra.
If they improve these factors, they will become a very good eatery.

Average food with a cheap price and small portions. Nothing really outstanding here. Not a really clean place. Service was ok. Don't know what more we can say here.
Naomi
Great little local.
Ask for soft shell crab not in a sushi roll, yum!
Vegemicated
A little local place that serves reasonably priced Japanese food. Food is good for a casual meal and the staff are friendly. They offer a few vegetarian options but are lacking in vegan options. They do offer more vegetarian options than most Japanese restaurants in the area. Worth a try. BYO if your dining in.

Fantastic service, quality and fresh food. Come here all the time and highly recommend it. Not expensive. Recommend gyoza, shibuku sashimi and Himalayan chicken rolls!
Not what I expected. I have been to a few Japanese restaurants, this one looked dirty. The counter was unclean, removed gloves laying around, iphones charging in food preparation areas at the front. The staff were very slow to acknowledge we had entered the restaurant. Then had to wait 20 mins for the waitress to take our order, it wasnt busy. Food arrived fairly quickly, but was cold and not very impressive.
They need to take a big look at themselves and how they present their business. I would rate 30%.

1st time diner. Great meal, friendly service.... will definitely be going back again.

Absolutely beautiful food with friendly efficient service. The agadashi tofu is superb. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Unassuming decor hides incredible food & service. Shibuku doesn't look like much when you step in but the food really is amazing. Even a lot of Japanese places don't do sushi very well but Shibuku's is really fresh & the rice is cooked perfectly. Friendly service and they always seem to know who I am even though I've only been three or four times. Best Japanese food this side of Freo.

The food was actually delicious BUT the restaurant is SO SO SO dirty. When we arrived I was horrified however stayed as we were having dinner with friends. If it was just us we would have walked out. The glasses, cutlery and table were filthy - makes me not want to think about what the kitchen may look like. But have to say the the food was good.

Kaarage chicken entree. Yum!

Awesome food. We had octopus balls, fish teryiaki, sashimi salad and miso soup, all was amazing! very nice atmosphere and staff too. sashimi was top quality, melting in mouth, we highly recommend :)

Have been here for dine in & take away countless times to order katsu chicken don (with extra mayonnaise). The service is quick and pretty much know my order off by heart now! Will not stop coming back as the food is great for a quick bite to eat and always filled with people! Only thing I would recommend is for the water to be chilled/cold not room temperature!

Worth every cent !!!!! , some of the best Japanese food I have eaten , brilliant atmosphere would recommend dining in , service was impecable and very friendly staff . Food was very fresh , would recommend this to everyone

Ugly facade hides hidden treasure. Well on first impression it's not much on the outside, and the parking is limited and awkward. However inside this basic looking restaurant the service is great, sooooo polite and helpful, and the food is fantastic. My favourites are the teriyaki tofu, pork gyoza , love the finely shredded salads and of course delicious fresh sushi cut in nice thick slices- very substantial. Shibuku's prices are very reasonable compared to other Japanese restaurants I've been to. I will certainly be eating here again.

This is my first time to every write a review. Shibuku is just so delicious that I just had to write one. I get takeaway from them every week and they are consistently so good. My favorite, must try dishes are the prawn sushi and beef teriyaki.

Not worth the money. Very rarely do I bother with these reviews, but this was by far one of the most disappointing Japanese meals I've ever had. I know Japanese is expensive at the best of times, but for $17 for a Katsu Chicken Curry, you would expect something amazing, seeing as some of the best Japanese places in Perth charge much, much less. But this was clearly a straight from the packet job and the chicken taken from a packet. Nothing that would render a $17 price tag.

When I get food from a restaurant and pay good money, I expect better quality than I could get from a $4 packet of Japanese Curry from the shops.

Also the 13 year old behind the till in his pyjamas (not a joke) got annoyed at me because he misheard my order and tried to charge me $10 more than what I owed them.

Shibuku is the shizz!. We are in love with the food here - it is a little on the pricey side, but well worth the extra $$$ to be served fresh, authentic, delicious Japanese. They have freshly made the sushi for me every tine I have ordered (great Katsu Chicken!) and the other half loves his bento boxes every time. The staff are sweet and friendly, and there has never been much of a wait when we go to grab take-away. If you dine in I think it is BYO :)
KutsikFood
Food is yummy. Service is fr.... Food is great, service is friendly although not efficient. It was a full restaurant - we were the first to arrive. Everyone at my table had nearly finished eating their main when my main was brought out. It was worth the wait though!

Great sushi made fresh!. Great little place making lovely fresh sushi to order. Also loving the $4 house salad and their delicious miso soup. Highly recommended for some nice cheap Japanese food.

Best Japanese in town. Love the chicken karage. staff are always very friendly and polite. this place deserves all accolades.
arrogato!

I am perplexed by the rave reviews of this "Japanese" restaurant. My prawn katsu curry was a size of a kid's meal and prawn katsu was something like you get in a box in the frozen section of woolies. The rice was nuked to the point it was hard. The curry was just average, like exactly what you get from a box. And I paid $17 for this sub par meal!? The teriyaki was just average. I've had Japanese food all my life( in Japan and over seas)and no where comes close as sub par as this place. The restaurant has no air conditioning so it was stinking hot inside and table was sticky. The little kid that was serving people their meal was touching his nose and stuff, someone's gotta teach that kid some hygiene practices. Won't be back ever. I'll stick to an authentic Japanese restaurant ;)
Dee
It's not fantastic! The service was very lousy. I was so upset with the chef for wiping miso soup off the table and not seeing the drops of soup fall inside the Karage chicken without caring that my friend may get food poisoning. Who knows if his cloth is clean? I won't go there as he has no reason, unfair and bad bad hospitality.

Great Little Find. Very basic setting but the food is excellent. The sashimi is melt in the mouth. Highly recommend,
Naomi
Great little find on a Monday night. I asked if they had the soft shell crab outside a sushi roll, which they then offered to make, amazeballs. They should add it to the menu. Also great edamame beans, karaage chicken and sashimi.
Heidi
Fantastic restaurant great fresh food, we had teriaki fish & tuna sushi, left full and satisfied. Service was excellent. Will definitely return.
Jac
A hidden gem of deliciousness!
The food is outstanding, as is the traditional service!
Lizz Clarke
Friendly and busy but there is better. Friendly little cafe style eatery, very busy with families on Sunday evening. air staff were brilliantly friendly and efficient. Relaxed atmosphere with the kids. We had the gyoza and edamame to start which we're amongst some of the best we have eaten.. Yum. However we each had beef teriyaki for main and it wasn't brilliant. The beef was great, fabulously thin and tender. However the teriyaki tasted like gravy, which in itself wasn't unpleasant just not nice teriyaki. The beef from here along with the sauce from taka at freo markets food court would be the a brilliant combination. Would maybe head back to try the sushi..?!
Chris Barnes
Amazing.. Hands down the best Japanese food I've ever tasted in Australia. The location is an absolute pain in the ass for parking, but the food more than makes up for it 10 times over!!
Chelsea
FANTASTIC! Will be back for sure! Beautiful food, lovely service :)

Excellent. This has to have the wackiest car parks in Perth, but they can't help that. The important bits like food, customer service and atmosphere are excellent. We had three dishes all were top notch. Also very good value.

Great work guys.
Thefoodinterview
The place was not well staffed and we had to wait close to 40mins for a sushi roll tht was not even made when I went to ask for it. In addition, the sashimi we ordered was not fresh (it was soooo soft) and there were bones in the salmon??

Worst part is when I spoke to the person, he nonchalantly just said OH and gave me a little discount..this was really surprising and quite unprofessional.

very slow very average to poor. wont be back.

Amazing food and service. Try the Ramen, delicious!

Amazing meal and the lady who served us was so lovely with just the right amount of attentiveness, not to much but perfect, we had the salmon sushi, gyoza, chicken udon and chicken katsu, we will deifinitly return again

Great little local eatery, no frills but good value
Karen
Lovely friendly sevice. Love this place, been a few times, food is good value and service is lovely and friendly. Only suggestion would be dim the lights a bit its very bright even a tea lite would be nice and maybe some background music, otherwise fab!
Carolyn
Great food. I thought the food was excellent, fresh and very well presented. I have been back several times and will continue to go
Justin
Just been again, just so good, fresh, service awsome, just brilliant. Find out for yourself, you wont be dissapointed.

Amazing fresh food, staff were awesome, nothing was to much bother def recommend this place

Disappointing quality - the sushi in particular was really bad. And stemmed expensive. Won't be coming back.
The Palmyra Foodie
Simple & Good. This is a simple little Japanese eatery with solid food and friendly staff. We went on a weekend night and had mainly cooked food - teriyaki chicken and beef, but also ordered a California sushi roll. Presentation of the sushi was modern rather than traditional but most importantly, the food was very good. The standard is as good as Ocean's in Freo and Ohnamiya in Applecross. Recommended.

Great food Great service. Went to Shibuku on Saturday night with my girl for dinner.
Great decor restaurant has a very relaxed and warm feel to it.
Ordered the Katsu Chicken rolls for entree, very tasty and for the price 8 rolls for $8.50 how could you go wrong. My girl ordered the Nigiri Sushi (Eel) which she devoured. Eel was super fresh and very well presented. On to the mains we both decided to try the Teriyaki Beef and Chicken which came with a salad, rice and Miso soup all for $15.50 each value for money was outstanding.
Both the Chicken and Beef were tender, juicy and succulant. The salad and rice were both also fantastic. On to the Miso, It came out piping hot which can be hard to find in most Japanese restaurants and was one of the tastiest misos i've tried in a while.
Along with the food the service was top notch, very friendly but not in your face service. All in all we left full to the gills and it didn't break the bank. Think we may have found our new favourite Japanese restaurant, Keep up the good work Shibuku!
Nobby
Sizeable meals for price Ha.... Sizeable meals for price
Handsome owner
I enjoyed my time there
Best place in Melville for Japanese
Useful and friendly staff
Kitchen had fresh food- in particular the salmon
U can't go wrong

Good but not great. Dishes we ordered came out ok, but nothing extraodinary. Tasted much better Jap food elsewhere. 2nd visit? Mayble not anytime soon..

Great new facelift for a tired old kebab shop! Really enjoyed our meal so much so I had to drive back for a second helping of salad! So good! Definitely give them a go, the owner is really lovely too!
