We love this place. Its such a treat. We love getting the Macho Nachos to share and we never finish it all so we take some home and can continue enjoying our meal later on. Great for spicy lovers. The extra hot hot sauce gives me a run for my money. But have also gone with family who have low tolerance to spicy and they had no problems. Both the cocktails and mocktails are spot on. The desserts are a little lack luster. I once ordered a tim tam dessert but it was coconut flavored tim tam which was not indicated on the menu and ruined the dessert for me. Staff are always friendly. Feel very welcome every time. The only problem I have is that I love it so much I think it should be open for lunch. I went there on my birthday expecting it to be open, there was even another customer waiting for them to open for lunch too. There was no clear signage and the young waiter just hurriedly blurted out 'we're not open for lunch' and went back inside without saying anything else or giving us a chance to respond. Even if they had a more simple lunch menu or were only open a few days for lunch.
I've been here a few times now, and each time it's been pleasant. The food isn't mind blowing, but it's good, the frijoles are yum. Not a big fan of the desserts though. The staff are friendly and accommodating. A good spot for a casual dinner out at a moderate price.
These guys were super great to us last night for my boyfriend's birthday celebrations! Unfortunately closer Mexican places closed and we read good reviews for Picked Cactus, so we booked a table for 8.30! Unfortunately I forgot to read that they were open until 8.45 but they didn't make a fuss at all! There was an ENTIRE separate vegan menu which substituted meals with vegan alternatives like vegan cheese & sour cream! The cocktails were great and the staff even better - they even bought out a little complimentary dessert while singing happy birthday! ☺️
Good consistent Mexican mostly get take aways so can't comment on the service. Not a massive fan of their salsa prefer the salsa at Casa Mexicana.
Was reluctant to go there after reading the reviews although it was recommended by a friend. We decided to try it as it close to home and it was great. Margaritas were yummy, we then had chicken wings and pork nacho's which were delicious. Mains were fish street taco and beef burrito-again both very tasty. It was a full house with a party out in the back room and the service was still good and staff were friendly.
Awesome restaurant. Yummy food, great vibe, owner was very friendly walking around chatting to everyone. Quick, efficient service.
Food was delicious, service was extremely friendly and kid friendly, and was not overpriced at all. Decent serves that didn't skimp on the taste. Would definitely recommend and be back if ever in the neighborhood again.
We ate there last night and the food was fantastic! My mate and I shared the hot buffalo wings and holy Hell they were hot! The kinda hot that burns your lips and makes you regret rubbing your eyes hours after you've touched the wings.. they were delicious though!
For main I shared the fajitas, HIGHLY recommend them, they came on a sizzling plate and you make them yourselves with all you need on another plate.
The service was fantastic and the owner Roz was great value. Can't wait to go back and try their chilli bowl challenge!
Kid friendly, the sombrero are a nice touch. Good service even though there was a mistake with my order but it was quickly fixed. Decent chimichangas, loved the Mexican punch esp. that you could buy it by the carafe. Decent food, fun night out.
Negra Modelo. Is the main reason I come here, other than the fantastic food of course. A bit on the pricey side (after all it is just Mexican Food) but easily the best Mexican on the coast and worth it in comparison.
Visiting from Melbourne my boyfriend and I are so sad we don't have this restaurant at home. This is the best Mexican food I've ever had in Australia. To boot the service was exceptional and I worked as a waitress in Canada for three years and expect service to be that way now but rarely receive it in Oz (sadly). Delicious!
So far so good. Went there recently for the first time and will definitely be heading back. Food was awesome, menu a little different than you get at most Mex restaurants, and service was outstanding. Attention to detail here, and the chef makes his own very delicious hot sauces. Two thumbs up from a Mex lover.
Loved it. Great place ! Friendly staff , great selection of imported Mexican beer! They brought out kids toys and coloring crayons to play with and keep them entertained ! You won't leave this place feeling hungry , they have huge portions ! The kids loved it ! Will deffinatly be back!
We ate here last night and it was fab! The staff were really friendly and went above and beyond! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely! The only negative is there is no toilet on the premises (there is access to them around the side of the shopping centre tho!) I would defiantly recommend visiting here!

Great food. Great service. Great Atmosphere. Every time.. The food is beautiful every time my partner and I have been there. The service is always lovely and friendly. Whenever I usually dine somewhere I always feel a little embarrassed and pressured when I order a meal as I have multiple severe allergies and am anaphalactic to the slightest trace of seafood, but the Pickled Cactus is the first restaurant on the Gold Coast to be both confident about preparing my meal and also more than happy to do so - to cater for people with severe allergies such as mine. And the atmoshere inside the restaurant is fun, friendly, and quite lovely - for the multiple occassions and celebrations I've had there, small or large. My partner and I have dined there quite a lot as it's just a great vibe and great food.
Yum!. Definitely the best Mexican I have had in Australia. I'm from the US and have been looking for good/legit Mexican food for awhile and I have finally found out! I had the beef enchiladas which were delicious. My friend was very happy with her beef fajitas and my boyfriend enjoyed his burrito!
Fajitas. I tried the Smokey BBQ Beef ones and found it absolutly wonderful.

What an amazing place! We are from America living in Australia now, and have been on the hunt for some great Mexican food...and we finally found it!! My family and I can't thank you enough for the incredible food and amazing atmosphere!!! Almost like being in Ixtapa Mexico!! Will be back again!!

Delicioso. Luckily we booked as there were no free tables and the place was buzzing when we arrived. The decor is authentic giving the restaurant a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food was deliciously tasty. Unless you like firey, don't try the extra hot! Medium is just right. Even though busy, the staff were friendly and the food was fresh and promptly served.
