Review Decisions Cafe - Birtinya

Hectic Sunday morning but we didn't wait too long to get our food. Great ambience with pretty interior design and outdoor dog-friendly dining area. Although most cooks/chefs/staff had straight faces, well-garnished food and cutie latte art coffee made us feel pleasant and welcome.

Best place to have coffee in Sunshine Coast :) Friendly staff, great size dishes, amazing coffee roast and fair prices. Eggs were cooked perfect and bacon crispy as should be. Best chefs in town. We were lucky enough that the chef brought your dishes to our table!! Highly recommended!

Pretty nice brunch spot with a really concept of offering a nice menu selection of both ‘superfood’ and ‘superjunk’. Coffee was ok and a bit on the pricy side but the food was pretty good.

I had the açai bowl and the vegetable sausage roll. Both were delicious and big servings. So worth it and vibes were good.

I was so impressed with Decisions cafe and was so glad to have booked this for my mother in-laws Sunday birthday breakfast. The ease of reserving a table, beautiful decor, friendly greeting upon arrival, waitstaff recleaned the table and high chair prior to us being seated (it was already visibly clean!), and the FOOD! The food did not disappoint, and my fussy 4yo thoroughly enjoyed her french toast. Beautifully presented, well priced AMAZING service. Definitely one of the best Sunday breakfast spots I have been too. Parking was plentiful too. Loved that we were greeted with warm smiles upon arrival, throughout food service and upon departure. Genuinely amazing cafe. Highly recommend.

Decisions is my go to breakfast/brunch restaurant in Birtinya. I have become a frequent customer and enjoy my experience every time I get to go in…whether I’m taking out or dining in, I am always satisfied. The customer service and kitchen staff are incredible and make me feel like family when I come in. Could not recommend this place more.

Called by this morning for breakfast. Nice spot close to SCUH, Sunshine Coast University Hospital while waiting on hubby's appointment. Nice open space. Indoor and outdoor dining. Friendly, hard working staff. Food came out in good time. I ordered the Greek Granola, Nutella Loaded Hot Choc, Vege Roll and Hot buttered pretzel donut. Mmm. Enjoyed it all. Tasty, fresh. I will be back!

The concept of this place is nice but thrown together in an awkward way. The big communal tables against the wall make it a nightmare for people getting in and out of and then act as a barrier for staff to clean whilst others are dining on the outer parts, meaning those still dining get to sit at a table with dirty dishes, kind of beats the purpose of going out and paying money to eat at a dirty table don't you think? The sweets looked delicious yet conveniently not priced or labeled (pricey brownies by the way). The display cabinet and food storage fridge at the front are very cutely done. Service was really very lacking and it really dampened my dining experience. I was made to feel rude for asking my eggs benny to be served on a plate and not in a metal roasting dish as I had seen it served up in. Plates are what humans like to eat off of not dog bowl styled dishes. Over priced meals and drinks, yes I know you pay more for eating out but when I pay $22 for an eggs benny I'd at least expect some happening flavours! Overall a place I was really looking forward to trying out and going back to, however wound up being a world of disappointment and sour taste. Get some staff who have personality and actually make people want to go back. Going out for a meal or a drink isn't just about the food it's a whole experience and it's a shame how much Decisions dropped the ball on that.

I was very excited to check this place out, but I was very disappointed by our experience. We sat outside because we brought our puppy along, but it was very hot and sunny, and when we asked a chef who was passing by if they had umbrellas he responded very rudely, and shrugged at us with unnecessary sarcasm. We then realized there was a rolled up awning, and when we asked about that, apparently it was broken. So it was very hot and uncomfortable for us to eat outside and accommodate our pet as well as ourselves. The food wasn't good either, my mum and I had a salad and it was extremely sour and unsatisfying. My sisters chicken burger was also quite mediocre. The tap water available also had some strange black particles floating around in all our cups. Very, very overpriced as well, especially for such lame service and bad food. Not what I expected, and I won't be returning.

I was really excited about coming to try this cafe after seeing how good it looks on Insta. The concept of the cafe is really cool, but the layout and service was terrible. No table service. Not enough seating. Too many big tables. The menu was really good, plenty of choices. The tables were not cleaned and we had dirty plates from the last people on our table until our food arrived. No napkins and no spoons. Service was really bad, they kept bringing the wrong food and drinks to us and kept sending ours to other tables. The food was average. I don't think I will return.

This morning I took myself for breakfast for an infamous 'acai bowl' even though the place was packed, the staff were still friendly and happy, the food perfect and the wait time almost non existent. Thank you decisions cafe for allowing me to start my Sunday right

Going to Decisions every sat and sunday for at least 6 months now and absolutely love the place. Food is amazing, fresh and healthy produce. Great combinations of raw food. Love the coffee always consistent and great blend. Tried the cappuccino smoothie yesterday and inhaled it was absolutely delicious. My friend is addicted to the acai bowl which looks amazing. Monica always makes us feel welcome and has our order ready to go. Only complaint now everybody has discovered the place and is busy. Lucky like to go early. Love love love!

Had been wanting to check this place out for awhile and I must say it didnt do much for me. Staff were not exactly friendly and i was gobsmacked at the price for the mango &coconut bowl... $16.90!! Was absolutely delicious but $16.90 seriously!!??!! I'll have to keep making these at home myself at that price! Perhaps it was just the afternoon i went in but the place had no vibe whatsoever, the waitress looked like she didnt want to be there, one of gentleman just about walked into me, and when my bowl was ready they called out the wrong thing. When i stepped out of the car to go in there was a horrible rotten egg smell wafting towards me. Sorry guys but first impressions last!

If you are after something healthy or something naughty, this little Cafe is the place to go. The acai bowls and the scrambled eggs are to die for. A Cafe I will go back to regularly. Well done to all the staff and the owners you have made a unqiue venue on the coast.

I got so hype about these acai bowls - my friends had been talking them up all week. Then when I finally ordered one, the presentation looked nothing like it did in the photos I had seen and there was an ice chunk the size of my fist in the smoothie. Didn't think it was worth the money, but I'd give it another shot.

Went and finally checked this place out after much hype, actually pretty darn disappointed. Had the classic burger and I may as well have gone to McDonald's and gotten a quarter pounder with fries because I could not tell the difference! Not worth the $17 charged. The environment has a half-finished feel to it, needs more single tables so customers don't get drowned out by others conversations. However the donuts and display cases looked amazing and staff seemed nice.

First time at Decisions and lunch was delicious - loved the Nutella shake and burgers. Think the super raw/ super junk style menu is fab. Will be back to try everything else on menu and the amazing looking cronuts!
Alison Jagoe
Ridiculously over priced and food took forever. Asked for our table to be wiped down as it was filthy and dirty dishes everywhere in the cafe. No one ever wiped it down even by the end of our meal. Poor service, horrible food - avocado in my smashed avo was brown, music way too loud and no shade outside.

Awesome amazing delicious food my fave place

I was so excited to come here because it looks so delish on Insta! It specifically says 'open until 5pm over easter'. When we get there at 3pm we were turned away as food service had finished... Should probably mention that somewhere. Also staff was not very attentive, we were not greeted and all we were spoken to about was 'no more food' .. Great..
Mary Mold
Good food but definately staff needs training for good customer service, I've asked for a teaspoon for when my coffee arrived apparently no teaspoon is available or you guys didn't have any whilst my friends had one each ?? also cutlery needs to be cleaned as when my delicious breaky came all the cutlery that was on table was abit eggy and non of the staff came back with the clean cutlery or at least apologised ..good breaky tho

NAUGHT OR NICE?

Which one would you choose?

Absolutely loved revisiting one of the first ever cafes that I have visited at the Sunshine Coast a few years back! Oh man, how time and flown by and things have changed!

But one it hasn’t is my all time advice about food: having a flexible attitude towards food is better for your mental health and your overall life.

You don’t need to eliminate food groups. ⁣
You don’t need to fear fats or carbs. Ever. You can have a balanced diet and honour what you want to eat more, instead of just restricting and regretting it later.

And another thing that hasn’t changed is how perfect Decisions cafe is! It has it all! You actually won't find a 'Breakfast' or 'Lunch' section on their menu and it's simply split into 2 all day dining options #SUPERFOOD (healthy) and #SUPERJUNK (not so healthy).

And the Decision is all yours! If you are craving something more wholesome and nourishing, today, go for it. And if you want to eat some delicious and less-nutrient foods, every now and then, you’re okay too. ⁣

You know where you’ll find me today hey 😈😂👌

Here’s what I tried this time, from their new menu!

Acai Flow - it’s impossible not to love Acai Flow and no matter what size or shape it comes, the taste, consistency and overall final product is always outstanding. I have to say that I would have loved to have had this in an actual ceramic bowl not only because it would make it way more interesting but actually because I do think they deserve that presentation due to the quality and being so popular and loved amongst people. It is a soft serve whipped pure acai that comes served in a paper recyclable and compostable cup and topped with vegan GF granola, seasonal fruits and coconut chips. The granola was great and I want to highlight how good the bukinis were on it, taking it to a new level. Portion size of the acai was good considering how it comes but to be honest I would have preferred to have seen this type of acai in a bigger serving like they have with the acai bowl made from sachets from another brand. I think they could benefit a lot from a better presentation as I have seen many acaiflow bowls bowls both in ceramics and coconut bowls and it is always more Instagramable meal versus what we had here. Still give this a 10/10 and a must try!

Acai Cup - quite disappointed with this bowl to be honest. Actually when we arrived I noticed that there was a table where people left, unfinished, a huge ceramic bowl with what it seemed a watery pink smoothie bowl without toppings. Little did I know that that was actually this same acai bowl that I asked for and that unfortunately I don’t think I would recommend (specially in comparison to acaiflow). It is a blend of frozen acai puree mixed frozen berries and frozen banana, all blended with coconut water and not only it was very watery but the actual taste was very sour and acidic and I struggled to have it all, for sure, which never happens. Not the worst bowl I’ve had but definitely not even an average bowl. It came topped with house made nut free granola, that even I who loved granola, think it was too much, and missing crunchiness, sweetness and diversity in the granola (looked more like a very basic muesli without any nuts or dried fruits) and it came with some fresh seasonal fruits and coconut chips that were the highlight of the bowl to be honest. I actually did not report back to the team what I thought about it but in case they read this, I would leave my food blogger friendly suggestion to definitely change this bowl as the place has great potencial to make this WAY better than what it is.

Sushi Bowl - this was was a win for sure and it was a mix of black rice, baby spinach, avocado, cucumber, edamame, seaweed, a soft boiled egg, pickled rashest and carrots. It also came with some kewpie mayo and ponzu and it is a true sushi bowl for sure even with those limited toppings! You have the option to add another protein source like chicken or salmon, bu to presented it as a more simple way and see it the bowl itself was well achieved and resembled Asian vibes, I opted to not have it with anything else. Quite filling and nourishing and great combo that I wouldn’t change anything as it’s absolutely perfect 👌 but I think next time I would definitely add the salmon to bring more richness to the meal and I do recommend trying and having this one, for sure!

Flash Hash - my friend had this meal and it was somebaked house made hash with roasted capsicum, baby potato, sautéed kale, 2 runny fried eggs, fresh herbs, with feta and morrazella on top. The place it on the oven and the cheese melts on top, making it extra glorious and incredible in terms of taste and looks. It is quite a filling meal and the overall seasoning is good 👌 would recommend adding some bacon to it like we did or some mushrooms to make it even more extra!

Loaded Chilly Waffle Fries *daily special* - my friend had this one too and it was a daily special that has been massively popular apparently! I have to say it looked very mouthdrooling indeed and the fries were beautiful in their cute waffle shape and it came loaded with melted cheese that would make everyone envious of not having a bite! I sure did! I i do think that they could benefit from having vegan cheese in some of their normal menu options as I think that it would interest many others and bring more costumers!

Loaded Smash with mushrooms - the classic avocado toast with an extra touch! They actually have both items on the menu and for those that prefer a more simple option that’s also possible with the avocado toast item! But if you’re feeling hungry and think that you need a little more on the Tory, they have Th is option that is toasted sourdough with smashed avo, cherry tomatoes, grilled halloumi, roasted corn salsa and chive sour cream. You can obviously add even more if you feel like it or substitute any item!

Sausage Roll - they have also come up in their menu with some snack items! Perfect if you’re not too hungry and one of them are sausage rolls! They have two types - meaty and veggie - and while I would have personally prefer to have had the veggie one with pumpkin inside, my friend I wanted to really try the meat one and he really liked it which made me happy.

Oat Matcha Latte - to drink, we opted not to have a smoothie although I have to say that if you’re thinking about having one, have in mind that they are massive! And delish! And so were the wellness lattes we picked! The matcha wasn’t overpowering and it blended very nicely with the mix. It is also vegan friendly and I would say that if you’re trying matcha for the first time, you’ll probably be better by having one of these options and you won’t feel a very strong taste. My friend had this one and personally he would have preferred it to be stronger in taste but I found it quite smoothing and pleasant when I tried it!

Almond Turmeric Latte - I personally had a turmeric latte and have to say that it was perfect and definitely recommend. Not too strong taste, just right in terms of blend, this was fantastic 👌

Of course that I have to say again that I obviously recommend visiting. I don’t usually visit the same place twice unless it is quite special to me and these guys sure are! When it comes to menu preferences and my friendly suggestions, that’s always personal and just something I would personally enjoy but it doesn’t take away that fact that these guys are legends! Great team, great environment and energy!

Decided to stop here for brunch on a saturday morning. I forgot what my dish was called (oops!) But it consisted of some sort of brocolli/potato hash, halloumi, rocket and walnut salad with some hummus and a poached egg as a side. Safe to say that my plate was finished up all clean. Atmosphere and service was great, will be back next time were in town!

Rubbish everywhere. When we first arrived we were greeted by tables of finished dirty plates and no attempt by any staff to acknowlede us. Despite the place being only half full we were only able to find one little spot in the corner due to other tables being occupied by old plates of food. It was only until we had finished our food that plates were starting to be cleared away...even though they had 5 staff behind the counter. However the food came quickly, although didnt taste very fresh. My meal of chicken came only slightly warm and the sushi bowl was honestly just a bowl of leaves and a little pork. Lets just say i willdefinitely not be coming back.

Plastic Plastic??
Thought we would try this place for coffee.
Ordered mug of coffee came in mug with plastic spoon. Had to wait a while for coffee
This place has good looking food . They put that in cardboard take away boxes great .
But please the plastic smoothie containers and straws for people dining in not necessary .

the food was yummy (little pricey) but the coffee had good prices. unfortunately though, i noticed the staff did not treat their coworkers very nice.

Fantastic place.Great food and milk shakes. Love the fact that you can choose between Healthy and Junk food!! Will definitely come back when we are on the Sunny coast next.
Spice Dad
Nice place that gives you the option between healthy and junk! very interesting. I couldn't look past the Buddha bowl for some reason and don't regret my choice, such a fresh and tasty and beautiful creation. The only thing I don't love here is the location in a fairly sterile shopping center with a lot of traffic noise.

So happy to be in this place! I can go crazy with the green and healthy style for the day by having a buddha bowl or I can just be a naughty kid for a day having the greasy burger.

So the place not just instagram-worthy with neon lights and pink wall and white tiles, but also food is delicious!

Nasi goreng is a must order I reckon, is a healthy style of Nasi goreng! with a fried egg, with healthy brown rice even kid can have that =)

Had a beautiful breakfast here (avocado on toast and partner had the fritters) and would’ve given that experience a 5/5...however came back next day and was a bit disappointed. Admittedly it was Father’s Day and staff completely overwhelmed. Same meal came out differently. Coffee is great though!

Great cafe! From the moment you enter, you know it’s gonna be great. The shop looks amazing, bustling with customers. Food is not only insta-worthy, it’s also got great flavour! It sells both superfood and superjunk, hence, your boyfriend will not complain food is boring or plain. Great serving size too. It’s situated in an area with great parking availability. Can’t wait to go back and try other things.
Sarah
Unfortunately they ran out of banana’s so couldn’t offer any of the smoothies on the menu or açai bowls on the menu - that was ok as I changed my order to juice. They then forgot to charge me for my food order. These things happen but they then made me wait while they served other customers before fixing my order. Customer service was not great.

Breakfast at this spot on my first morning in Sunshine Coast. Place is open and inviting however direction of seating/ordering are not. No direction if table service or bistro ordering system and nobody said anything about seating, it was extremely strange and awkward. Coffee was absolutely banging and food was nice but a bit too oily. I had the eggs Benedict with bacon. Bread had nice texture but had too much butter, in house hollandaise was nice and bacon was a bit under cooked for my liking. Together dish was nice. I would come back again to this place if I was in the area. Thanks guys.
Sarah
Love this cafe! Plenty of delicious food to choose from! The wait can be a bit long on a busy morning but at the moment is tolerable and the food certainly makes up for it!
Matt Schimke
Omg! I had the pork belly eggs Benedict and I think I went to heaven! Be prepared for a huge meal though! You could probably share it. Coffee is great too.
Dazza
Food and coffee were great. Wouldn't hurt the waitress to smile when delivering the food and coffee. Just drops them on the table and walks off. Other then that, a lovely place and would recommend a visit. I will be back. Cheers
