This place is somerthing else... Suggestion: Grab a Mama’s Burger with extra bacon, a nice bottle of “Cane Cola” and share a salmon fillet with a friend. Really is heavenly.
We were very pleasantly surprised by this place. We had thin crust pizzas which were great, proper thin crust.
The real joy was the chocolate mousse dessert, easily the best chocolate dessert I've had in a long time.
Staff were friendly and the food arrived quickly, we will be back soon to try the burgers.
Very generous portion. Pulled lamb burger was excellent. We also ordered a pasta which was easily enough for 2 people. Will be returning here soon.
An excessively long menu always fills me with wary dread. Because no one's good at everything. But these reviews aren't wrong, this haloumi burger was good!
Came here tonight and the experience was pleasant. Fantastic customer service and the food came out very quickly, which was good. The halloumi was beautiful, I do think it was a bit thick for my liking. The salad that we ordered was delicious, one of the best I have ever had. However, the GF pizza was very disappointing. In such a nice area such as Black Rock I expected a better quality pizza with proper ham but I received shredded ham that you get in the super market. I only had 2 slices of my pizza and believe it was very very over priced for what I ordered. I will be returning to try other things on the menu as I do believe I must have ordered the wrong meal and pizzas must not be there specialty!
Second time visiting mama's kitchen and I was impressed yet dissapointed at the same time.
Grain salad with "souva" chicken was amazing. Real good flavour combos.
gf pizza was terrible. Probably one of the worst gf pizzas I have had. Cheap string ham from probably from Woolworth's down the road... Seriously scrap the pizzas off the menu.
Haloumi was again great! Very big serving, the pita was fluffy and warm. Probably just needed abit more lemon considering the size Of The Haloumi.
Probably the most upsetting part of the night was when the waitress took my stone and wood away when it was still half full!! I felt bad as she was only young so i just let her go. Probably next time ensure wait staff ask before taking drinks.
I will return, for the salads, not for the pizza.
I've ordered for burgers from this place on Menulog plenty of times. Really love their singature Mama Burger. Pretty filling - But they always deliver on time. Great work guys, will come visit one day!

Ordered a couple of times take away and really enjoyed the burger. This is one of the best burgers around. I order usually the extra paddy meat, it is a massive burger!!!

Mama's kitchen - cool vibes to dine in, also do delivery. The burgers and souvlakis are so good (chips already in a pulled lamb souvlaki? Obviously some smart mama's!) Their haloumi in the burgers is a nice thick portion and was cooked perfectly! Calamari is lovely, and the pizzas are nice too. Will go again, great menu variety if you have a group who all want different things - burgers, healthy salads, pizza, antipasto, and pasta.
The burgers and chips are fantastic, pizza is just average. Chicken wings good. Calamari ok. Pulled souvs OK, pulled meat is a bit soggy.
Some of the fried stuff could really be drained a bit more, obviously it's deep fried so it will be oily but sometimes it's just excessive and you're left with pools of oil on the bottom of your chip and chicken wing container, I'd rather wait a few more minutes and have it sit a bit longer.
Also a bit expensive, it's good quality but a bit of a price gouge if you ask me. Look at the the price for a pulled burger! Wow! They're not THAT good.
Overall not bad, will go back for the burgers but nothing else to rave about.
Tried this today for the 1st time - II'll be back! VERY tasty burgers with good quality ingredients and a good size. I had the Mamas burger- delightful to eat. The others ate the pulled lamb and the pulled port burgers and say they were fantastic. Chips are good. Hosts are very friendly and nice. Cant wait to eat there again.
Our favourite family run restaurant in Black Rock. The menu is not large but everything is so well prepared and always delicious. The servings are substantial and you never leave this place hungry. The prices are way under all the local opposition food places. Best of all the owners are great hosts and great cooks. This place is a undiscovered gem in the Bayside area ,you really should try it when you are near the area.
Beautiful food and people, the Chicken Parma Burger is unbelievable. Fantastic spot to grab a bite to eat, come hungry the serving sizes are huge!!
Amazing! 😋 we ordered the pulled lamb burger and added jalapenos, the sweet potato fries, and the chicken schnitzel burger and added bacon, cheese and an egg. Although they forgot the jalapenos in the pulled lamb burger, I can't complain. The food was so yummy! My partner also loved his burger. We were both so full! The restaurant itself was nice and the tables were clean - one of my pet peeves. We could only see the one man behind the counter and serving us. He was friendly. :) far from a negative experience!
One of the best burger places we've been to!
The Miso Salmon was perhaps the most beautifully prepared piece of fish I’ve ever had. The slight charring on the outer skin contrasted well with the buttery smooth inner, where the exceedingly juicy and tender protein literally melted away in your mouth with each bite. The Miso flavour was forward and aromatic, and permeated through the beautifully fresh taste of salmon without being overbearing. The flavour profile and balance in texture was simply divine and just begged for a second bite.
If for nothing else, it’s definitely worth the trek down just to try their Miso Salmon, as I dare say it ranks amongst the best of any fine dining establishment.
....had some burgers & garlic bread delivered. Great quality! Then noticed the ordered but not paid 4 serves of fries were missing, called them & they got them over to us super fast without charging! Very impressed! Great food, great service, thank you!

Big serves - our kids share a Cheeseburger and chips and its plenty! The Grain Salad is yum and can be a meal if you want to be a little healthier.
Pizzas are good too. Thin crust, good topping choices from traditional to gourmets.
I haven't tried the Souvas - but heard from friends they are great too. Maybe next time!

The perfectly cooked thick beef patty, generous slices of bacon, melted cheese with lettuce, tomato, red onion accompanied with an amazing 'mamas special' sauce was absolute perfection! The burger alone is 5/5
The side chips portion is huge, which comes with two sauces. The mamas fried chicken wings were nice with a homemade KFC like coating but I was just so full from the huge burger, we had to get the leftovers in a takeaway bag; Which brings me to my next point..they do takeaway!!!
This burger bar/restaurant has a cute cafe like feel to it l, with a large menu and really friendly service! A must try venue for people in the area looking to try one of those popular South East burger joints!
That was one of the best Greek calamari we've ever had, the Greek salad had green capsicum & I've officially turned. I now like green capsicum. Hip, hip hooray finally some decent takeaway at Black Rock. Thanks guys, good job.
Delicious grain salad, get it with pulled lamb!! Also the dessert, forgot the name, it was like a Greek golden gaytime was amazing, couldn't stop eating it. Chilled vibe but can get loud at the back of the restaurant but overall generous servings and great food!

OMG okok! I just finished eating Mama's Burger and I want another!!! It was the perfect burger! Decent size on a nicely toasted brioche bun. It wasn't a loose brioche and contained the juices really well!! The patty was medium rare bit more to medium but that was alright.
Without taking it apart ... my first bite was like "oh wow"!!! What have I just tasted? Why the f&rk is it soooo good??? The sauce? The cheese? I looked at it and going top down.. brioch, sauce, melted cheese, onion,tomatoe, patty, lettuce (more like flatten salad if some kind) then bottom of brioche.
The sauce along with the patty and cheese really made it for me. It was savoury combined with sweetness of the sauce (mix of mayo like BBQ sauce?)?? Proprietor wouldn't say. It was daaaaamn GOOD!
What also did the trick was the selection of the brioche.. It was heavy enough to hold it all together. Some other saucy burgers I have had in the past just fell apart. Not Mama's!! I was able to enjoy biting through each of the layers per mouthful till the end! Now that's how a burger should be!! Am definitely a fan!

Absolutely awesome!! Went here on a beautiful sunny day after the beach and was not disappointed in the slightest! The grain salad is insane, full of all the good stuff and perfectly dressed, the wings are delicious, perfectly coasted with a garlic and soy marinade and the bigger was super juicy... The staff are incredibly nice and helpful and not too expensive! Would definitely go back!!
I've only tried the grain salad (twice) but oh my it is delicious. Vegetarian and without yoghurt, it's vegan. Made to order so super fresh. The lovely owner is so accommodating and welcoming. Lentil sauce with pasta is next on my list. A great addition to Black Rock.
The staff here are such a pleasure they will kill you with kindness! Nothing is too much trouble. When you dine here the little Italian doughnuts are a must!
Such reasonably priced good food. We do takeaways with these guys and they are so lovely when they serve you. They also throw in little treats for us for after our meals as a bonus. Very sweet. LOVE your pizzas too.
Delicious food and HUGE servings. This is my second time here and I love the gentleman that serves us. Great, friendly smile and obviously proud of his establishment. Meals were great and a massive range too. Looking forward to trying the desserts next time. My gyros was perfect, that perfect pita and pulled lamb, also decided to sample the saganaki. Wow. Love this place!! We work right near there and they always look after us, and even deliver to our office when we are too flat put to go down to pick it up! Best service ever, and food to match! The italian pizzas are awesome, as are the souvas, but theres so many other choices as well. A perfect take away place with a menu that would take months to try everything! The best thing to happen in black rock since true south opened!
As soon as I saw this new "mama's kitchen" place pop up, I thought I'd better check it out. I am a big fan of a good burger.....and a good burger is what I got. Slow cooked pulled lamb burger was on the specials board, and that's what I went for. Added a healthy grain salad and lunch was made. The burger was great! The soft, decadent, brioche bun tops it off! That bit of class that makes it special. The salad was pretty good also. Great, fresh crunch with a good mixture of ingredients really hit the spot. The chunks of onion could have been diced a little finer, but if that's the only thing I can find to complain about, I can surely say that I would happily return for more.
I'd never been to the restaurant so I can't comment on the ambiance and service, but everytime I visit my sister at her place we always order food from here, as the portions are massive and prices reasonable. The chicken bianco is just amazing, the mushroom sauce with chips were just to die for. The pollo pasta was also great, though it was basically chicken bianco with pasta. The peanut butter parfait was also very addictive. The food is good, portions generous, and they're guaranteed to make you fat!
Wow, this is the best hamburger I have ever eaten. It was delicious. Picked up 2 burgers and sweet potato fries, my partner and I walked to the beach and watched the sunset. Service was great, plenty of parking. Will be back for sure.
