Review Wattle Cafe - Blackheath

I've been to this cafe a few times now. From the moment you step through the doors of this cafe you feel instantly relaxed and welcomed. The staff is so very caring, friendly, and genuinely nice. The coffee that I ordered arrived within moments. The food is fresh and tasty. I had ordered a bacon and egg roll. What was served up in front of me was a meaty and juicy roll the size of a dinner plate. In an additional note, every so often you will hear peals of laughter coming from the kitchen. Maybe that's why the food tastes so good; the staff is also well looked after. I love this place.

On our way to Bathurst last week, we stopped I'm at this Cafe for a lunch. The staff were very accommodating as there was 20 of us, mostly kids. We may have disrupted abit of the peace. The food came in timely and was very tasty. Even though there was a slight mix up in the order the manager made it up to us. Highly recommend this easily accessible en route cafe to anyone in the area. Great service and good quality food!!

Very nice food I’d like to start off, that is for the 1 star. However, customer service was appalling. There was a miscommunication when ordering our meals. When an extra meal was given to our table we said we did not order it. At the counter they put it in a takeaway box and told us we have to pay. After explaining that we changed the order, a staff member verbally abused us calling us “disgusting”. No customer should be called or spoken to in the manner that that staff member spoke to us. Needless to say, we will not return.

Fantastic burgers & coffee but very noisy!! The combination of the front door open directly onto the busy highway, the loud music & the constant loud long banging to empty the used coffee - sadly made it difficult to enjoy the yummy burger.

Lovely staff here! The young people managing the place when we stopped in for breakfast were so chipper! It was a super crisp morning when we came in, so we were very happy to see a warm fire burning in the middle of the cafe. The menu has some funky twists on the standard bacon and egg breakfast options. They also do some good vegetarian options. The coffee was nice, but I tend to like something a little stronger than most. The prices were fairly standard for the area, meals between $15-22. The staff are also willing to make alterations to menu items, if you ask.

We come here all the time. Since the new management took over the Wattle Cafè has massively improved. Great food. Great service. A top place for breakfast or lunch.

Bought the tropical chicken and chilli chicken burgers with chips! Was delicious and the burgers were so filling. My partner couldn’t get enough of the fresh roll we would definitely would recommend! Thank you

Being from out of town, I was pleased to see how busy this cafe was; it must have been a good place if it was that popular! I didn't particularly appreciate being barked at to find my own table (it being my first time there I wasn't sure what the cafe protocols were and I didn't know if we had to order at the counter) but it was alright as I chose a table that was nice and close to the wood fire stove. It was definitely nice and cozy there! The French toast and hot chocolate that I ate for breakfast were absolutely delicious - best French toast I've had in a long time. It was also fairly priced and very filling. However, being told 'if you'd just stop talking and let me finish' when I enquired if they had any bottled water truly shocked me. I understand that the cafe was very busy and there was a lot of pressure to serve customers promptly, but the waitress' sudden explosive behavior was, to me, unacceptable. Tossing menus onto the table without even smiling let alone acknowledging us, giving us only a minute to peruse the menu and then speaking so rudely to us was very surprising to me and thanks to my social anxiety, it's stuck with me since and I simply cannot get her glaring face out of my mind. Thankfully, there was another waitress who displayed exemplary service and the atmosphere and food at this establishment was superb, otherwise I'd be forced to rate this cafe rather differently than I have. "Everyone you meet today is fighting a battle that you know nothing about. Be kind." I'm proud that if she couldn't show kindness to others, then at least I was able to extend that consideration to her.

Has become my regular when in the mountains for work - the staff are always welcoming and quick to take your order. Food is great, fresh juices are good and the fire is always welcome on a chilly morning:)

Absolutely brilliant food - club sandwich and custom made salad so huge that you couldn't jump over! Warm log fire and super friendly and great service!! I have loads of food allergies & intolerances and they were more than accomodating in making lunch to suit. Thanks for one of the best cafe lunches ever!!

I stumbled upon the Wattle Cafe after a morning hiking in the Blackheath area, on what was a beautiful, sunny winters day with a cool chill in the air. The first thing that literally warmed me to the place was the well-stoked fire pleasantly crackling away in the corner. The next thing was the good ol' fashioned table service, with a smile and warmth that was very personable and genuine. Add to that good coffee and a bacon and egg roll fit for a king, and it was a most welcome stay to relax and recharge, ready to continue more Blue Mountains adventures. *A side note I'd like to add is a commendation for Tegan, whose genuine warmth, positivity and personal interest as she worked was really refreshing to come across. It won me back for an afternoon snack of a fresh juice and scone with jam and cream. Even as the cafe filled up and with some large orders coming through, and pressure on, she carried out her service with a smile that is often lacking in the customer service industry. Well done Tegan! Lovely to meet you, you're a valuable asset to your employer :)
