Review Sun's Burmese Kitchen - Blacktown

The food was delicious and authentic. The service was friendly albeit little chaotic due to the crowd. Unfortunately we waited two hours on our visit as it became apparent we wouldn't be able to get a table we chose the takeaway option. It was probably their busiet lunch day on a Sunday. Could do with a few more wait staff and perhaps double their kitchen capacity. So come on a less busy week day I think might be best.

My first time trying Burmese food and I absolutely loved it! The tea leaf salad is so damn good, a must order. It's such a comforting food choice. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but the service and food makes up for it. I don't really see a lot of Burmese restaurants around so the 50 minutes drive was worth it.

Very homely vibe with Lovley interiors. The food mild and wholesome, and vetted 'authentic' by my Burmese friend. Make sure you get a nice balance between rice, noodles, soup and entrees :)

I have no idea what to expect but it turn out to be so tasty. The dry curry chicken noodles is not the curry you are expecting. Is like chicken stew next level. The prawn and onions fritters is so good and the sauce is really something to die for.

Amazing food, will definitely be going back. Absolutely loved the teal leaf salad and barramundi curry! Good service too.

Always a nice meal at Sun's. Very friendly staff. Service can be slow on Saturday nights. But given the food is yummy and cheap, I don't mind the wait. Highly recommend their fried Pan Tay noodles and coconut noodles salad.

This truely is a hidden gem, as the food lived up to the rave reviews. From the outside you may feel skeptical, but the staff were friendly and accomadating. Make sure to make your orders at the counter as table service is challenging when they are busy, also note because they so popular some dishes sell out pretty quickly. So get your orders in early. tea leaf salad was unique and tasty, Baramundi curry was also a big hit, my fave was the goat curry as it was super tender and full of flavours. The portions are decent for the prices and also make sharing and trying different dishes more cost effective. I definately want to come back and explore more of their menu. dessert was amazing too, the rose drink with jelly. The onions with shrimp appetizer was amazing especially the sauce it comes with. I saw others rave about it, and it lived up to their praises. Great value, Definately make reservation as this place was packed within an hour of opening, it might not look like it would be at first glance, but the food is what sells this place.

This place has good food but awful service. Mohinga soup, pennywort salad, fried prawns and onion are recommended. You need a lot of patience in waiting for the food to arrive. The kichen process is an absolute mess and they need to improve the process between ordering and what is being prepared in the kitchen for customers. A short staff excuse is not acceptable for a poor process. They need to review and learn to be better! It is a truly disappointment because I like the food but will never come back due to its poor service.

Absolutely love this place. Great food, great service, reasonable pricing. Myself and a couple friends have become regulars here. I highly recommend the barramundi curry it is stunning with steamed rice.

We were there the first time last Saturday. The staff were very friendly. One of them kindly sat with us to introduce their menu! We had a chicken danbauk, the fish soup rice noodles, fried noodles with chicken, a mixed entree and the tea leaf salad. They were all very delicious and not expensive at all. Reservation is needed definitely. oh, the dishes are very child friendly too. They have a good selection of non-spicy dishes for kids! Will definitely return very soon!

Found this restaurant from google and tried it last night. The staff was super helpful as we had zero experience with Burmese food. The food she recommended was awesome and we couldn't believe even my 4 years old boy loved all dishes. Nothing was too spicy and we really enjoyed the meal.

Excellent food. A pretty good fusion of Indian and Chinese flavours. Very good service and a clean place. Loved it.

We live just around the corner and finally we had dinner there. We should have done it ages ago. The food was fantastic, the service was great and friendly and the place was packed with dinners. Definitely we'll be back!

Amazing authentic food with a signature taste experience like nothing else

Very poor customer service. Cannot manage timing of customer orders. Late arrival get food first. When food arrived they are tasteless. Don’t recommend this place.
Great food and amazing prices. Was looking for a genuine burmese place for a long time and really happy that I tried this place. I would recommend Lapathoe salad, chicken curry, chicken fried rice and mixed entree. Will try pork next time.

Amazing authentic Burmese food at a reasonable price! The food is very close to home and the staff are all so friendly. The servings aren’t too big, but it really gives you the chance to try a little bit of everything. Really glad I found this place as there aren’t many Burmese restaurants around that provide these authentic flavors.

There are not many Burmese Restaurant around. Sun’s Burmese is definitely one you should try. I had two main dishes and one dessert. Mohinga is one of the dish I tried. It’s traditional Burmese fish soup with rice noodles. Very unique. Next dish was the Fried Rice. Delicious! I’ll come back for this.
For dessert I had the Ice Salad. Very similar to other Asian shaved ice dessert. Pretty good and refreshing without going overly sweet.
They are closed after lunch and open again for dinner so you need to check out their daily trading hours. The food is budget friendly too.

Never judge a book by its cover! This place is definitely a hidden gem and worth giving a go! Authentic Burmese food with friendly service! Prices are very reasonable and fresh! Will definitely be back again

Blind as a bat when it comes to burmese food, i ventured here with an open mind. What drove me here was their fish soup with rice noodles. I miss tio chiu style clear fish (fillet) soup. I know, i know, burmese and tio chiu cuisines are hardly similar 😜.

Dan bauk chicken with rice cooked in spices 4/5, came with drumstick n thigh which was tender and throughly spiced. Berry nice. Ditto the spiced rice. The accompanying condiments didnt disappoint either (see pic).

Fish soup with rice noodles 3.25/5 was a bit of a let down. There was no discernible fish in sight.. tasted good nevertheless.

Homely polite service, seemed to thrive on pre-ordered takeaways as well with the burmese community. Drop in if you are in the area.

It used to be soo good when they were not busy and popular. Still good but not good as it used to be. the owner / chef is obviously know how to cook. hopefully he know how to train his apprentices because the food itself show not up to standard that they used to be.

Sun’s Burmese Kitchen is located in the inner Western suburb of Blacktown on Tulloch Street. We finished a meeting nearby one Saturday afternoon and decided to head there for lunch. The hubby and MiL had been previously and thought the food was good. I have never been to a Burmese restaurant before back in Perth, so it was a good chance to check out the food!

Food : 😍 Amazing
Dessert : 😍 Amazing
Service : 😍 Amazing

Love love love this place. I can't fault it. I love Burmese food and most of there dishes are really authentic. The desserts are a wow factor with plenty of colour and they taste so damn good. The service is great. Everyone smiles and has outstanding manners. I've been here so many times and it's always been a great experience. Food is affordable and fulfilling. This place gets busy so get there early or make a booking 😊

This restaurant serves good food at very reasonable prices. Food could have been better if it was hotter and had a bit more meat but you get what you pay for. Just don't order the special barramundi curry, the size is miniature, an entree size at best. Furthermore, the barramundi was plain and simple, lacking proper ingredients.

Tasty local Burmese food!

The restaurant was small and pretty hidden so i was surprised that there were quite a bit of customers.

Ordered the deep fried prawn and onion as a starter. It was crispy and the sauce was soo good. We ordered the rice and chicken special and it exceeded my expectations. It was so flavoursome! We also ordered the beef curry. It looked small but it was actually filling especially with the rice and chicken dish. The beef curry was yummy too.

I've never had Burmese food so I wouldn't know if this was authentic but all I know is that it was yummy. $35 Great value for money! Definitely recommend

Suns Burmese offers an array of delicious dishes at affordable prices. It's become a regular for my family and I. The servings are big and the staff are very helpful. The prawn and onion fritters are moreish, but what I love is the fried pork chitterlings. It's a hidden gem.

The food here is very good. The ambience is alright what though doesn't work is that smell that keeps circulating through the restaurant. Well though a look inside and you realise it's not a fancy joint and no it's not. The food here is cheap and considering the sydney standards dirt cheap. The portions are also huge and is definitely recommended for an occasional Burmese binge.

What a cheap and very delicious authentic Burmese cuisine! Ordered the mix entree and everything was golden brown and crispy hot and that's only for less than $10! Must try the Preserved Tea Leaf Salad as its got lots of texture and crunches. The dried shrimps as a side is just perfect to go with the rice and curry. The Chicken Rural Curry was however abit overcooked and less tender than expected. Was great to finish my meal off with the house made tea as its got the aromas that's made from the fresh tea leafs and clean my palate . Will definitely come back again and try the other dishes in the menu! Perfect food for the freezing cold weather!

One of my favourite s. The food here is very authentic and flavors are great. The Chicken Dunbark and Goat Curry being my fav's. You will be hard presses to find better bang for buck anywhere else in Sydney. I love this place and it's a must eat for the curry lover's.

I have to admit, I have experienced ok service but mostly good service. I personally think it's a mixture of the language barrier and how busy this place gets but they will always be trying hard to give good service. The food is easily worth a wait when they are really really busy.

This local restaurant although remotely located in a local gem, that punches well above its weight in terms of value, authenticity and customer service...

Burmese food tastes like a mix of Chinese, Indian and Thai with the extensive use of fish products like fish sauce. Our lunch was cheap, delicious and flavourful. Anyone who likes spicy, salty and tangy food will surely love this exotic cuisine. The countries that border Myanmar like China, India and Thailand, have influenced Burmese cuisine. Good Food, Good Value "Hsa Ba" Please eat. Burmese Appetisers This one delights me most- Balachaung or Crisp Shrimp Relish (on the right buttom). It tasted like dried "bagoong" or Filipino shrimp paste. It is so addictive! Hot and Spicy Chicken Rural Curry comes with rice and soup Chicken Curry served with rice and soup Shredded Feather-back Fish Salad Sun's Chicken "Danbauk / Danpauk" or Burmese Biryani is a popular dish eaten by the locals in Myanmar. It's the Burmese adaptation of Indian Biryani. Typically, the chicken is cooked with the rice and mixed with cashew nuts, raisins, yoghurt, peas, cloves, cinnamon, saffron and baylea

Delicious Food. Great traditional food - a mix between Asian and curry dishes, large portions, extremely cheap, friendly attentive staff, popular restaurant. Recommend arriving early ;)

Cheap but delicious food. Been to the place twice and ordered take away 3 times. Love all the noodles dishes and my 18 months old love the fried rice and faluda!!

The service was awesome and super friendly. I'm not sure what the others were complaining about. All the food was under $10. I guess maybe they were expecting a pho on the menu or something?

Cheap food, cheaper service.. What a bloody waste of time, gave us the wrong order, waited almost an hour for the food to come out after that, argumentative waiter. Whats all the buzz about? did i come on a bad day?

This has probably got to be one of the worst places I have ever been to in terms of service. We drove an hour to get here to check out this place, went inside and weren't greeted (as you would expect from a local "sleepy suburban" restaurant). Waited 5 minutes before we were given a menu (had to flag down a waiter for this to actually happen). Whilst ordering, the waiter (possibly owner, due to his condescending mannerism) actually stopped us mid-sentence while ordering & said "that's enough, enough food". We waited 50 minutes to eat, and took 10 minutes to finish it.. and it was not enough. The waiter then forgot my change after I paid. This place is an absolute joke.

Terrible service. Waited 45 minutes for a curry. Average food. Would not travel here ever again

Excellent. Arrived at the restaurant just after a rainy day to be greeted with such a satisfying and fulfilling food. The customer service was excellent the young man that served us polite and offered us complimentary Pratha with my meal. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to many. Worth the drive from any direction.

Delicious, cheap food definitelty ticks my boxes. The surroundings and decor are humble but don't be put off, if anything its very authentically Burmese. You definitely cannot judge a book by its cover. Anyone who's ever tried Burmese food will know that the food here is tippy top - fresh, clean and tasty. The speed of service can be hit and miss depending on the busyness but everything is delivered with a smile. As other reviews have said its definitely a mum & dad gig so there is the need to be conscious of that but I've never been put off as the food is always worth the wait. Love dropping by here when I visit the family nearby, I've tried most of the dishes on the menu and all are great but recommend the Panthay Kauk Sway - curried chicken and noodles think like Malaysian chicken curry on hokkien noodles, something called Mee Shay - pork belly and Chinese pickle, a lovely blend of sour, salty and sweet flavours. Danbauk which is Burmese biriyani, puts any Indian biriyani I've had to shame, the rice is reminiscent of Persian rice and the chicken is tender and flavourful. Salads here are great too, highly recommend the fish cake salad - I think it's strangely named feather back fish on the menu. Also recommend the tomato salad, simple ingredients but full of flavour. Highly recommend for people who are adventurous enough to try new cuisine and value good honest food.

Unique food with great service. If it hadn't been for Sydneyguyrojoe's review (see below), we wouldn't have discovered this gem. Rojoe is always discovering new places. He has over 400 reviews and I've been trusting his recommendations for years. I don't always see eye to eye with him, but I like the fact that his reviews are not made up.
At Sun's Burmese Kitchen, we enjoyed great food, plus courteous & speedy service. The portions are generous and nothing is priced over 10. AND the mains come with free soup and rice, what more could one ask for? Unbelievable!
It's a Mum and Pop establishment. I love such joints! The lady patiently explained the dishes in their unusual menu. We ordered Chicken Danbauk, (like a Biryani), Panthay (stirfried chicken with spicy noodles), Pennywort Salad, Oh-No Chicken Curry Noodles, Naan, Faluda and Coconut Juice. Our check was only 38.50.
Everything was nice, including the salad and the free Rosella soup. The highlight was the funny sounding Oh-No Chicken Noodle Dish, which is like Laksa. Say YES to OH-NO!
And don't leave without trying the Faluda, which is kind of a milk shake dessert, with ice cream, pieces of jelly and cake.

Very cheap food, WORTH coming too!!. Soon to be close to the not yet built KFC this restaurant is located and hidden with a few other shops in a corner

When you look at the menu, i didnt see anything over $10!!
The menu though is limited

It reminds me of indonesian with a mix of indian food

What i tried was flavoursome, the non pork main was ok but the $5 noodles were great

Ambience wise there isnt much of it but at least you can sit down for dinner

Service the food took a little while to come out

I would come back here to try other items, really cheap food i cant emphasises that enough!!
