Review Pho Pasteur - Blacktown

Kathy Lin
Well, I would say I had a really not pleasurable experience tonight and ended up not finishing my meal. The manager/boss seem to ignore us from the get go when we stepped into the restaurant, whether unsure becoz he was racist or im a single mum with kids. He tends to ignore my request for cups for water after ordering and plates for kids to share after food arrival. He clearly does not take priority in customer service . Our food sitting there cold unable to share because we were a table with kids. He went to other tables, asking if they need anything else whilst me staring at him after telling him we need cups and bowls for the 3rd time. He dropped it infront of us with no words of apologies. I do not recommend this restaurant, over priced too. If you want good quality and service viet food, go to Colebee Viet run by Ken, friendly small family ran and always have quality food 👌

Bad customer service, we walked in and got seated. The waitress served other people that walked in after us. We waited more than mins 15 mins no one came to our side they just kept checking people on the other side. I had to go up and place our orders. When they bought the food out they had to keep asking people if that's what they ordered, very unorganised. Food wasn't wort the amount. Tom yum seafood soup barely had any seafood in it, worst soup I've ever had. Combination fried rice meat looks like it was shredded.

This place has very unprofessional customer service. After being seated for 10 mins, no one brought us the menu. I tried to call the waiter and she pointed me to the table that has the menu's on it. But then after another 15 mins waiting for service, still no one came to our table. Again I tried to look around and waived any waitresses there, but they seemed to ignore us. And I noticed that they took the order from other table which came in the restaurant after us. It was Sat evening and there was just 1 young waitress and 1 old lady (maybe the boss). We ended up going to another restaurant after being ignored :((. 1 star for customer service.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT We have ordered from this restaurant around 3 to 4 times. On at least two occasions items were left off the menu. In order to let them know and get the item, we attempted to contact them. NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE OR RETURNS CALLS and we are unable to get a refund on quite expensive items. We will not be ordering from this restaurant again. Highly disappointed. No customer care or respect.

$20 for a mediocre bowl of pho that took over 30 mins to come, waiter didn’t even know what we ordered and had to ask us twice to confirm what we ordered. My bowl never came and my partner had already finished theirs. Let’s say save your time and go elsewhere.

Getting bad to worse. Thought I gave this place a chance to redeem themselves but just another BIG disappointment. The serving portions have gotten ridiculously small but they are still charging a premium for their special pork chop rice. Tried to pay at the counter and the staff in there was trying to push responsibility to the waitering staff to collect the bill. Beware when u collect your change as the lady cashier short changed me. You will get better value for your money at Canely Heights or Cabramatta instead.

A month ago I went back for another bowl of pho and it was my second time visit to this place; this time the service was mediocre and I also realised the price has gone up and it’s alright for me but what it isn’t alright for me was the food and the price was not proportional to each other. What I mean by that was you raised the price but you don’t give me enough meat, I’m very unhappy with that.

As a Vietnamese person myself, I’m disappointed. I havent heard of this place in the region my mother and I live in Vietnam so I decided to try it. Before I get into it. I enjoyed the hot tea they served on the table. It was steaming hot and was not diluted. It was an enjoyable combination of green and camomile tea. I ordered the mango drink for my partner and the sweet drink for me (sweet was the name on the menu) and it got filled to the absolute brim with ice and barely any drink. My partner expressed how the mango drink left his throat itchy which is not normal. When the food came out, I immediately noticed the bo kho (beef stew) was watered down. Its supposed to be thick and coat the back of your spoon (like a stew, not a soup). I ordered the com dac biet (special rice combination). There was a lot of rice but not a lot of sides. I wouldve expected more meat if I was going to be paying $19 for it. The meat was small, smaller than the fried egg. When we finished, we went up to the counter and they didn't realise, but I heard and understood the conversation between the lady (manager) and the cashier. The cashier asked if the sweet drink (as I mentioned earlier) as $6. She said no, make it $8. In front of me. We were forced to pay $8 for a drink that was basically only ice. Check the prices if you decide to try here and do not let them increase the price in front of you. Bring the menu up if you have to. I will not come here again. There are many other small Vietnamese businesses who serve so much more for so much cheaper. If you’re looking for Vietnamese food with cheaper prices and are generous with portions, look elsewhere. Because any other business is more generous than this.

I’ve been coming here many times, for dine in and also takeaway. Located on level 4 in Westpoint Blacktown, it’s one of my favourite places in Blacktown.
I especially love their salted fish fried rice. One of the best! It is a bit oily sometimes so I ask for ‘less oil’ :) The only thing is the price. It went up several times already during the last few years.
Other dishes that I normally order are deep fried spring roll, special beef noodle soup, noodle with pork chop and crispy egg noodles with gravy.
They charge 50 cents for a takeaway box btw.

I visited Pho Pasteur 4 years ago but wasn’t impressed with the food and the service. Came back recently to try Vietnamese food in Blacktown, and under new management, Pho Pasteur has significantly improved. We ordered pho, vermicelli salad, crispy pancakes, and fried spring rolls. I love the bánh xèo/ crispy pancakes because it was crispy, flavourful and contained lots of prawns. The pricing is still considered more expensive compared to Vietnamese food in other suburbs, but I’m glad to see such big improvement here.
The service was prompt and friendly.

The waitresses acknowledged us, and knew we weren't served, but still continues to ignore us for around 25 minutes or so. Out of frustration, i entered the restaurant as we were originally say outside, and laughed when we came in, additionally laughing while we were sitting outside and starting at us. The restaurant was not busy at all. This is the worst service ever and we expected more from then as we come here often. Never coming here again. Learn some proper customer service, sincerely from a hospitality student.

Also to add on, they have a violation from council for cross contamination relating to deep fried ice cream. Its bad on their part since it was displayed on the payment area towards the customers.
Kthxbye
0 stars! This is my third strike with Pho Pasteur Westpoint Blacktown under their new management (post renovation) Strike 1: gave pork instead of chicken on the vermicelli noodle salad (couldn’t eat it). Strike 2: avocado shake was a white sugary milky drink with barely any avocado. It was disgusting. Strike 3 (Deliveroo photo): missing soup for toddler’s egg noodles (too dry for him and he couldn’t eat it) and missing vermicelli noodles for the noodle salad (only gave the spring rolls and some leaves lol). In general the food is very poor quality now, their service is horrible and their dishes cost more so don’t get fooled by the fancy renovation. Definitely miss the old owners and chefs, a time when we were monthly regulars. These guys have zero attention to detail. Unfortunately they have struck out with us. After many years, we will never be going back. #kthxbye

Foods are substandard, oily and wired taste. Place isn't clean and comfortable, service isn't good. I tried this place for a couple times 8 years ago, there wasn't many choices for eating out in Blacktown. These days many restaurants open in Westpoint, but gave a try again on windy and cold day, I'm surprised this restaurant still existed.

Haven’t been back to Pho Pasteur since they renovated but went to try it again to see if anything changed. The food it more or less the same which is good. Usually order the fried pork chops with rice and sometimes they undercook the pork chop but this time it was cooked beautifully. Also ordered prawn and chicken deep fried spring rolls and they were amazing however a little pricey but worth it. The grilled lemongrass chicken with rice was nice too. Overall, a good Vietnamese restaurant.

After the renovation, Pho Pasteur looks a lot more hospitable. However, the food is more or less the same. Very average and does not try to innovate. A large bowl of pho will always hit the spot, which is why it’s still such a popular restaurant amongst the locals.

A typical dining experience - don’t expect good service BUT it has improved.
Supersabroso
Decent food, average quality, nothing special. Pork chops were wet instead of ultra yummy like at many other Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants. I'd go elsewhere for better food. This is really just a pho joint only, all other food is very average.

Total disappointment. We came here thinking it would be som good Vietnamese like their city location but it was just a waste of money and calories.

Pork and prawn rice paper rolls had hardly and filling so not worth $10 for 3, beef pho soup wasn't bad but the noodles texture was wrong hence my son refused to eat it. My husband's vermicelli noodles with pork and spring roll was stingy with the meat.

We hardly come to this area and I do regret coming here.
The Hippy Foodie
Overpriced for average Vietnamese food. Would much rather drive to Canley Heights/Cabramatta for dinner. The meals are decently sized, but that's what you'd hope for considering how expensive it is here.

Pho shocking as you enter the restaurant. This restaurant is the worst pho restaurant that I have encountered.

As you enter the restaurant, the waitress or waiter ignore you and once you got a seat. You wait for another 30 minutes to get served. The food was bland, specially if you get the pho. There's little to no flavour. You are paying around 18 - 20 dollars a pho which is a ripped off, there's a few better restaurants that serve pho under 15 dollars and they are pretty good.

I would recommend to not go to this restaurant, terrible customer service, bland food and overpriced food.
Parramatta Foodie
The service here is definitely not the best and while the pho is not the best I've tasted it does hit the spot when I can't be bothered travelling for it.

They do good rice paper rolls as well.

I have been dining in this restaurant from day 1. Originally, I had to travel to Parramatta either across the Parramatta Train Station (which now closed) and the one along Church Street to have their Special Beef Rice noodle and Spring Rolls. They are to die for. But I am glad that they opened a branch in WestPoint Blacktown. It's a place to bring a family to have a good meal together.

However, my only criticism few months back was when I noticed how slack they were in washing up their dishes particularly their cups. I gathered they are still doing this especially during busy hours. They also slack (big time) with the cleaning of their tea pots. That was the downside of this restaurant. I called their attention about this on numerous occasions in the past. They will replace it with another tea pot full of tea but still looks slimey or filthy inside. They updated their plates, mugs and cutlery. But more like downsize the sizes of their plates, bowls, etc. Just need to be cautious as when you dine there, to take time to check the insides of the teapot on your table, and also wipe the cutlery you are going to use before using them.

After doing so, enjoy the food, as they are truly tasty.

The service, cleanliness and food quality has definitely decreased in the past year or two. I have been to Pho Pasteur since it opened, and regularly dropped by the older Pho Pasteur in the city/Parramatta whenever I was in the area.

The Blacktown restaurant oddly feels dirty and older than the original Parramatta outlet (not the one in front of the bus stands). The tea dispensers and utensils are in dire need of being replaced and feel dirty regardless of how many times you try to wipe it with the always near-empty tissue box on the table. Youre better off getting sushi or Thai next door to save disappointment.

Terrible pho. I would not recommend going - have your meal elsewhere. The broth was bland and the noodles just broke apart - they did not seem fresh at all. There was hardly any meat in their "special beef" noodle soup. And to top it off, the service was bad. Waitstaff was inattentive and the older lady (possibly the owner) was downright rude. When I tried to wave down her attention, she dismissed me and said she was too busy and never came back and didn't ask anyone to come. It took almost the end of the meal to get the can of coke we ordered at the beginning. Bad food. Bad service
I would give this place a zero or even a minus for service but there was option too. Place is filthy and service is like trying to hail a taxi at Bon Jovi concert. Food quality and portion was absolutely appalling. Recommend your worst enemy to come here!

Salt and Pepper Calamari a must try for first timers. All the fruit shakes were thick and creamy... go for the avocado and apple custard fruit shake #yum! There are a variety of Phos to try... service is quick, ingredients are fresh... 😊

not good , dirty restaurant . rude staffs and expensive food for what you get. There's one vietnamese restraunt in Good Luck Chinese shopping centre . much cheaper than them.
Food Is Really Great
Generous portions considering the priceyness: the fried noodles in particular were loaded with vegetables and sauce. The place isn't super clean and the tea lacks flavour, but at least staff are attentive.
The Happy Tummy
Decent tasting beef pho and decent service. I had a large special beef with all the meaty goodness. Nothing special really but can't complain anything.

Come on guys! Where did my review go?! I eat here almost every fortnight! Though my opinion about this place hasn't changed. It's dirty, the food is alright but extremely affordable.
Thanks for agreeing with me! I think that quiet guy stopped working there.

No stars. I can't bring myself to give this place even half a star but the website said I had to give it one so my review would be published.

I am shocked. My husband and I went out for what we hoped would be a nice meal and some us time, we ended up walking out with our plates 98% full as the food was nothing short of slop. The satay chicken my husband got was nothing at all like a satay, it was more like a turmeric chicken, the San Chou bow I got tasted like it had been made from a home brand packet, my chicken and cashew nuts was in a word, disgusting....... How can people trade like this???!! The waiters were serving people with their thumbs in the food!, the plastic chop sticks were very used looking with dirty ends and all the sauce bottles on the tables had blobs of build up around the nozzles...... Our entree plates sat on the edge of our small wobbly table the whole time with countless waiters and waitresses walking straight past them, no one asked if we wanted water or drinks or anything really, the service was non existent let alone terrible..... To top it all off once the fella at the desk sifted through the pile of orders strewn across the front desk to find ours, we had to fork out a whopping $84 of our precious dollars for is awful experience. We both feel sick as if something wasn't right about the small amount of food we did stomach and we are here now warning everyone we can to stay away from this place, it feels unhygenic, thrown together, it's loud and not somewhere to go for a good meal and a pleasant night out. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I BEG YOU, DONT GO THERE!! Stay at home and eat your pets food, trust me it will be a better experience..........

*The waiters barely speak English, the guy at the counter barely talks at all though, no attempt made either.
*I understand they're a small business and pass on the merchant fee on to the customers wishing to pay via the credit card or paywave option, but stick by your own policies and not try to scheme an extra 30c from a customer for the CC surcharge, it is the principal here.
*As for the food it's okay - though I did have a fish bone in my dish.............

Very bad service, when we started to order food the waitress asking us to wait for a while as we can see she is just arranging the table. When she approaching us, her attitude is really bad, seems like we owed her the whole world. The food is below expectation. The water jug is too dirty yet it still there serving tea and the spoon is still with dirt. Overall, i will not come here anymore.

Good pho but poor everything else. Overpriced for the portion they give. Very disappointed with the sugar cane grill prawn vermicelli for the price I paid, only came with 2 small sugar cane prawns and the prawn meat was dry and tasted like chicken. The veg in the vermicelli were in big chunks as well, as if they were too lazy to chop them up properly.

The pho soup was good but very expensive. Went for the large one and doesn't even feel big.

P.S. I hate their separated picture menu and text menu. The pictures were not very clear and ended up have to refer to text menu which is so confusing. The drinks are only shown on the picture menu and was very hard to figure out what they are.

Pho Pasteur is one of the most well known Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney and in particular, for their super tasty beef pho. I've only been to the the Pho Pasteur on George St in Haymarket, and was so was pleasantly surprised when wandering out west, looking for a place for dinner, we stumbled across it again on the top level of Westfields Parramatta. This top level hosted a whole bunch of restaurants and seemed to be the place to eat for locals as the carpark was packed and so were most of the restaurants on this Saturday night. Luckily, we were able to get ourselves a table. We decided to try share dishes and ordered a few from the menu. We wanted to order the Vietnamese pancakes but were informed that this would take 1 hour to prepare =( Chicken and prawn fried rice with XO sauce ~$18 - a huge plate of fried rice (not sure if we accidentally ordered a larger size or something) A bit spicy with

Beef Pho. Clean sweet broth with lits of flavour

Terrible service but good food. The title says it all.
We sat to order, but no one came up to us to take our orders. I had to physically go to the counter, ring the bell and ask for someone to take the order, Thats terrible customer service if you ask me.

When I ask to recommend the most popular, good food on the menu, they didnt know and gave little help.

Our order came in at a decent 10 - 15 minutes, and looked great. I love the crispy chicken, my favourite.
Even though the service was not up to standards, at least the food was great.
Foodie4lyf
Good, fast and friendly service. Reasonably priced. Although there were a fair few people there we did not have to wait long at all for our meals. Ordered Spring Rolls, Wonton Soup and Vietnamese Pancake to share and was plenty for the both of us with a little bit of room left for a shared dessert. Will definitely be back.
Edmond
Terrible service. .. only one waitress can speak english. ..waited for 45mins to get our first dish.... my wife Pho took more than an hr.... and my dish took an hr ... worst restaurant in Sydney
Reviewer
Nice. I've always enjoyed beef noodle soup. Service getting better.

Where did my previous review go?. Agree with Sarah, the guy behind the counter either is a mute (im not being offense by the way,ive never seen him talk to anyone, even staff) or a angry man who doesn like to talk. It's the only restaurant where the price of the meal is shown on a oversized calculator!!

This place may have the name but its quality is no where near its counter parts. Prices are high but im assuming its because of the rent they have to pay to the shipping centre.

Food wise, its below average, everything ive tried is not up to the standard.Portion sizes sometimes seem small also. Food can take a while to come out also even when there isnt many customers around

If you really want good Vietnamese, just travel down to Parramatta and eat at its counterparts!!
Riceflakes
Terrible staff, no customer service or hospitality at all. Food sometimes takes ages. Terrible laksa. Very average pho, the beef toppings aren't enough and too tiny, portions are tiny, ... Below average restaurant.
Johneating
They charge tea and at times they don't, depending if they want to make money off you. They're deep fried spring rolls are set priced on the menu but when you pay at the counter after you finish eating you pay $13 for burnt deep fried spring rolls. Special Beef was ok but the sprigs Asian basil that they gave was less in number and it seemed recycled from previous serve left overs. The mother is nice but the daughter of the owner has no customer service experience, she over charges on the bill. The waiters don't last long as employees except for one or two but customer service still does not improve with those waiters.
Juan
Extremely rude staff. The waiter shooed us away like animals because he "wasn't ready yet". Will never ever consider going to this place in the future.
Howard Poon
Dont visit.... Poor service, rude staff.... Had 5 people and asked for cups, returned with 3 cups and when we asked them for more cups nicely, the waiter exploded and blamed us for not telling him we had 5 ppl... Wth...

There's no doubt about the yummy food served here but when it comes down to peak hours, forget it!!! We love the food but it's not worth it due to the poor service. We dined there on a Thursday night, no other choice but to dine outside in the cold with a baby as no availability inside. Time was their complete enemy as the staff took forever to take our order, meals arrived late, one of the staff members was so flustered that he was sending out meals to the Wrong customers & acting surprise that the dish did not belong to them!!!
Carla
To crowded, service not great waiter had his thumb in my food & food felt like it had been sitting there for a while but on the up side we were in & out preaty quick.
