Review Crystal Seafood Restaurant - Blacktown

Nice ambience. Staff were a bit non responsive. And the food was ok. Out of what we ordered I would recommend the fried rice (mix vegetable with egg) and the braised chicken fillet with curry sauce. We asked them to make it spicy, but it wasn't at all. Even the 2 chilli tag on the menu is absolutely nothing.

Been to this Restaurant several times, mostly for the yum cha. Some of our favourites are the bbq pork pastry, taro pastry, pork ribs and egg tarts.Delicious! The Peking duck and the dinner menu are great too. Our favourite is the Shantung Chicken (pictured). The only down sides are the service and the price. Even though our table was already full with yum cha dishes, they kept offering us additional dishes. As with any other Asian Restaurants in general, some staffs speak very little English. And yum cha price is pretty expensive. $50+ for 6 dishes.

I am Gluten intolerant so it can be very hard to find dishes, especially within the Chinese culinary establishments out this side. The Manager is knowledgeable and accommodating even though it was during their rush hour, he went out of his way. Thank you very much for being so understanding and considerate, we truly appreciate you. Best regards, Mr. Wong

My favourite place for sweet and sour in the area. Everything we have ordered has tasted great although a little pricey but I appreciate they are part of our Entertainment Book Membership to receive 25% off. The yum cha is excellent

Just got out from the restaurant, a rip off place. Peking duck is $28 today on their menu. But it's only for an order with other overpriced meals. I doubt it's right. Council should check out if it's a kind of misleading.

My wife and I ate dinner here just before a movie. We were pushed for time and given how beautiful this restaurant looked we really wanted to try it out. We advised the waitress of our time restraint and we were looked after quickly. The food was delicious and although we could not eat it all, we were given containers to take our food away to enjoy at a later time. The restaurant was clean and presentable and would love to return for a longer dining experience.

Customer service was terrible! Will never come here again or recommend to anyone. Firstly our table was given away to someone else then the table we were given was not even cleaned properly. I cleaned the banquet table myself. Then we were given a teapot with a chipped mouth and when I asked for a different one, he blatantly lied!! And said they are ALL like that. We saw otherwise but if they were, it is unacceptable, they should be replaced. There was no variety in the food and hardly anyone came to our table. When we were leaving I saw other dishes on people's tables, which leads me to believe our table was just neglected. Was a very terrible way to spend my birthday. Very disappointed!!

A great place for Yumcha. Located on the 4th level of westpoint blacktown it caters to a good family crowd. Variety of options in the yumcha menu. Quick and attentivve service by the staff who really looked after each table. Really recommend their prawn varities in yumcha menu and mango pudding.<br/><br/>Service-5<br/>Taste-5<br/>Value for menu-5<br/>Ambience-5

I’ve been to this Restaurant several times, mostly for the yum cha. Some of our favourites are the bbq pork pastry, taro pastry, pork ribs and egg tarts. The Peking duck and the dinner menu are great too. My favourite is the Shantung Chicken. As with any other Asian Restaurants in general, some staffs speak very little English. The only downside is the price. Keep going up and up. I might think twice whether to come here again or not as the price is very expensive in my opinion.

3.5. Everything here is portioned well and doesn’t lack flavour. Have been coming here for years and have always been a big fan of their special fried rice and combination chow mein. Always satisfies hunger and a craving and is always consistent!! Large range of dishes to choose from and convenient location.

Authentic chinese cuisine! I can’t get enough of their yum cha - they offer a great selection of dimsum! Seafood is also served fresh and they can also customize the dishes based on your preference. Highly recommended!

Worst meal I’ve had in Sydney <br/>Over priced for what it is, was late to bring food out and was fatty pieces of meat <br/>Disgusting would not recommended eatting there ever! <br/><br/>Absolutely garbage made me sick!!

I don’t really like this restaurant. It’s slightly expensive (but expected). The lobster I ate over there tasted weird. Desserts are okay. Long waiting times are usual during the night when everyone is trying to eat dinner.

For Blacktown, its pretty impressive if you haven't gone out dining for a suburban outing. On the rooftop of the Westpoint Complex we had the private room for a family function for 20 people. Set menu of $32 was quite substantial of steamed asian greens, satay beef, salt and pepper calamari, sweet and sour pork and fried rice. The service was great when we got it, but at times were left a little abandoned as its quite a large space and after food was served we had to call for attention outside the private room for drink top ups at times. All in all a good experience and would come back.

I think if you’re lucky enough to go when they’re not that busy, you’ll be fine in getting great service and quick and attentive service. Inevitably it’ll be easier to speak to them if you can speak mandarin or Cantonese, but it’s not too big of an issue. Food taste good, prices are quite expensive though. Yum cha carts roll around very quickly, so you can get all your favourite foods quite quickly too.

Our food was late , it did not taste good as well. We had to go to the counter to get some one to our table including to get someone to give us our bill. Food was not nice. Would not recommend.

Had lunch today experience was terrible, there isn't a word to describe how bad they food was but that wasn't the worst part of the experience the customer service was appalling. Waited 10 minutes on tea, apair of chopsticks, and chilli sauce. If you are planning on eating here just save your money and go to breadtop.

I am surprised how did they get their license? Not many words to talk about this restaurant here because you can google it. A rip off place and mislead to the customers. Blacktown council and/or Fair Trading should check this restaurant and shut it down so that better one can come in.

Had lunch today. Love how the ladies bring the wagon around filled with food and you can pick from it. First time I have tried chicken feet. they were delicious, The second dish I tried not sure what it called. wasn't a really fan of it.  My son had the fried rice and honey chicken which was amazing. The staff were friendly and lovely. A great lunch. Thanks guys.

I have been coming here for years now. From time to time, I get invited for a sit down dinner by Pharmaceutical companies to eat here for free while listening to their talks. I also go here when I get invited for a birthday lunch and whenever I feel like having yumcha, as this is the closest yumcha joint from where I live. Over the years, I saw their interiors change from outdated to a more modern looking Chinese restaurant. I have seen their prices increase as well. Service time varies on the time of day you choose to dine in, it can be really slow or quick. Language barrier sometimes come into play as some of the staff do not speak English. My favourite tofu and eggplant yumcha changed in flavour recently, I don't know what happened but, I liked their previous version. I do recommend ordering their Mango pancake as the crepe is thin and packed with filling.

I have been dining in this restaurant from day 1. The food is superb especially their chicken fried rice and of course my all time favourite, chicken feet which is usually available during yumcha time. However, whether it's yumcha time or not, as when I want to have chicken feet, they will take time to make one serving for me which is great. <br/><br/>The most expensive food I ever ordered here were Sweet Chili Crab (which is heavenly awesome in taste and appearance). I eat with my eyes first of course. The other pricey is their deep fried whole fish (of your choice) with a sauce (of your choice). I just feast on it on its own and truly satisfying each time.  Their deep fried calamari is great which is available during Yumcha time. <br/><br/>The teapot is not free so keep an eye on the bill that it does not appear there, if you did not order it, otherwise, $4.00 will show up on your bill whether you have ordered it or not. Other than this tiny hiccup, I cannot simply find humongous faults. The restaurant is clean. The cutlery is spot on. The service is great and they are prompt in making sure the table is free of unnecessary plates, cups etc. <br/><br/>If it's dining you're after, whether for lunch or dinner, this place is great.

The restaurant has a nice vibe and decor, but the service is horrible. The ambience is the only thing that separates this from a cheaper Chinese restaurant. There is low availability for live seafood, particularly lobster, and when available, the quality of cook doesn't make it worth your money.

Really crap service. Arrived at 7pm. Quite night, roughly 5 tables taken. Ordered our food shortly thereafter. Waited till 8pm to question them why the food wasn't ready. Turns out they had missed our order! Really unbelievable, especially with the amount of staff. They should have come around to ask if our food has been ordered or better yet check themselves. Can't say I've ever been to a place and had our order forgotten.

Good for yum Cha but the dinner menu needs improvement. <br/>As a tip: ask for the things you want directly. Depending where you are sested things can be unavailable or slow to arrive. <br/>Variety is alright and so is the value.

Feel like chinese today so we came to eat here again ,its a decent place for a casual dine out. Food is decent and service is good but todays crispy skin chicken was raw so we had to return it overall a good place to dine out <br/>

Visited Crystal Seafood in a group of four. For entree, we ordered Steamed Dim Sim, Prawn Toast, and Ham & Chicken Rolls. Dim Sims had a beautiful flavour and texture. The Prawn Toast was good (is it ever bad anywhere though?), and the Ham & Chicken Rolls were different to ones I've had before. They had a thin sheet of nori under the batter, gave it a different texture which was nice. <br/><br/>When it came to our mains, we were disappointed with 3 dishes. I'll start with the Special Fried Rice... It was woeful. There was a burnt oil flavour through it, and you couldn't taste anything else. We also found that the ingredients that usually make Special Fried Rice 'special' were very sparse. Fried Duck in Plum Sauce - the Plum Sauce was awesome, but unfortunately the duck was overcooked. Salt & Pepper Squid - some pieces were tough, and others perfect. The issue was the lack of seasoning, and one particular bit of squid I had housed a pocket of oil and five spice which was a bit of a shock to the system. Honey Chicken - good amount of honey and chicken was very tender and moist, no complaints there. Mongolian Lamb was also good, but not as spicy as I like. Lamb was incredibly tender though. <br/><br/>In terms of service, the staff aren't that great. We had to wait for the Mongolian Lamb as they brought out an incorrect dish, and we'd pretty much finished and were full by the time the Mongolian came out. Two of the four people weren't chopstick users, and the waitress seemed to be very inconvenienced by the fact that we asked for a couple of forks - she brought a little basket that had 15 in it and literally dumped it on the table. One of us also ended up wearing our drink after the same waitress tipped it over. Couldn't get over the fact that the guy at the register asked for a tip when we went to pay, even when we gave feedback. Wanted to try Crystal for a long time, and now that I have I doubt I'll give it a second visit, it's nothing to write home about.

Its a pretty decent yumcha place and for dinner its pretty good too. Service is pretty good, standard yumcha type of stuff (dim sims, spring rolls etc). Recommend if ure craving yumcha out west, points added for being one of the few yumcha places available.
Sarah&Gluttony
Being the only yum-cha in Blacktown, i guess you'd expect to wait forever, for a seat and service. Then this crappy chain reaction starts... with cold/stale food, angry staff, and crap service. That's what i think of, when i hear "crystal seafood restaurant".

Been here numerous times for yum cha lunch and dinner. Food is good. There are just a few times staff forget our order of fried rice but otherwise service is good. The downfall is they dont have a long table to fit my big family when we book for a family dinner. We have to sit in 2 tables separately. Restaurant has just been renovated and it looks good.

First time here for Yum Cha on Saturday mid morning. Overall not bad, not as busy as Marigold Chinatown or Phoenix Parramatta but food quality is ok not great. Prawn dumpling skin is too thick and a bit chewy, not thin and translucent as it is supposed to. Ditto with Chong fan. The rest are so so.

Before the renovation, this place was OK. Went tonight for a family birthday and staff just seemed a bit abrupt. We also asked for dishes to come in a particular order, which didn't happen. What really disappointed was the Shantung/ drunken chicken - almost no breast meat, drumstick or thigh meat, it just seemed to be a pile of chicken offcuts. Disappointing, as it should otherwise be an easy Chinese restaurant to take my family to when I come out to visit. Might have to investigate other options for next time.

Bad taste. We ate here one night and had the banquet. The food is defiantly not upto standard. Despite complaining about the food tasting so bad that we could not eat it we were still forced to pay the bill. Forced to pay for food we could not eat due to the taste being so bad! We are not fussy eaters however I would highly recommend not going to this resturant.

Took my partner out for his birthday and was very disappointed. Ordered the spring rolls, they were served cold and were the ones for aldi, the San choy bowl had no flavour. The crispy chicken was ok apart from the raw bits. The <br/>Slizzling magolian lamb was way tooo sweet. The service was good and very polite very clean restaurant but don't think I'll go there again

The worst yum cha I've ever had!!!! Over priced and the dumplings are the worst. Will never come back again!!!!!!!!!

Overpriced, bad service and not tasty. Disgustingly overpriced. Ordered two standard dishes lemon chicken and shredded beef with small rice to take away today lunch. $51.00. To top it off it was not nice and very bland. Was thinking of doing yum chat here one day......not now
Mike
Pricey, service bad , food taste bad.<br/>This go for yum cha & dinner

Not bad for Chinese out in the west. We usually go to the one in Strathfield which is more authentic, but our dinner there ticked all the boxes and even my 83 year old Chinese grandmother enjoyed it.

Where did my previous review go?. OH yum cha in Blacktown,it must be the furthest yum cha out west!!<br/>Its up to standard, and there is a take away section where you can have yum cha on the go and also cheap take away food court type stuff. Thats what i usually come for,its good value for money

The bat duck I have ever experienced! This place is fantastic for dinner and also yum cha is fresh and fast. Service is unbeatable, friendly and very welcoming. 10 our of 10. Happy repeat customers.
