Review Ototo Fresh Japanese Food - Bondi Junction

Small tiny Japanese eatery tucked away on Oxford Street. Blink and you'll miss it. Great lunch options and everything is fresh and tasty. Bento boxes offer great variety (chicken karaage yum!), and the chicken sando is delicious! Very limited seating (6) so it's not a place for a big group.

I really like their spicy fish udon soup, very tasty and simple. I wish they didn’t have to use single use bowls and cutlery though.

Cute casual Japanese home cooking in Bondi Junction. Freshly looked and tasty. During busy lunch times, the wait might be 20 minutes. Lots of Uber eat pickups.

Hidden gem in Bondi! Best japanese curry I’ve ever had. 1000/10 would recommend!

Visited in 2020.4. Very horrible and upset service! The waiter rudely stopped me from entering the restaurant to get the food because the food was placed outside. She could have been much more polite. There is no reason that the waiter pour her anger to me because of the lockdown.

Slow service, curry is more like a soup curry rather than a thick curry and very salty. Cute place but I'd avoid lunch rush if you're looking for something quick. Karaage is v good

I ate the Chicken Kara-Age (Curry), my sister ate Katsu-Don and they are delicious with a relatively cheap price here. However, the Spicy Chili Chicken Rice Ball that my wife ordered was the best one. I will come to this place again if I visit Bondi in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Deceptive pricing on stupidly expensive nigiri sushi, a pic showing 2 with a price of $3.50 but that's the price for one. I fell for it and an elderly gentleman was being confused by it while I was eating.) Lovely little restaurant, tasty food, just reduce the price of your nigiri!

This is the best food in Bondi Junction. Polite owners who make brilliant food and the service is top shelf. Do yourself a favour and go there and if you cant stay at least order take away. Spicy Fish Soup with Udon noodles ... you can't get better

I resided 15 years in Japan..Ototo is one of a few "Japanese food" places myself and family frequent on returning to Sydney..The husband and wife team from Osaka, Japan are real, and the food is made to order and with pride, passion, experience, and love..Highly recommend..desu !

No star given the service is bad, Reservation guy is very rude on the phone. Not recommend. One star more than enough for this restaurant.

I really wanted to like this place after reading the reviews about this being a husband and wife restaurant. Staff were friendly and very polite and there was no extra charge for ordering brown rice. We had two spicy fish and one teriyaki chicken bento boxes. The flavours of the meats were good. The only issue was that all the fried items were a tad too greasy, like the spicy fish, teriyaki chicken, vegetable spring rolls, and vegetable tempura. Some paper towel to soak up the excess oil before serving would have scored a higher rating. I'm sure they would have accommodated if we'd asked but 1 - we didn't know it was going to come out greasy. 2 - I was too hungry at the time and it wasn't worth the trouble for a $15 meal to send it back. I wouldn't say it was terrible, but certainly not as good as I'd hoped.

As I now live nearby and love Japanese food, my friend and I decided to check this place out for lunch with our kids in tow. When you enter the shop looks very small with a few tables but they have more seating upstairs. It's cash only and food is ordered at the counter and then they will bring it up to you.

I tried their lunch bento box with spicy chicken and ordered my son teriyaki chicken miso udon. Bento box wasn't too bad with no extra charge for brown rice and it was filling. My son managed to nearly finish his udon. This place would be good a good option for take away and I'm glad it's just down the road from me!

Delicious, simple, no frills Japanese home cooking. Love the katsu curry, I believe they use a secret ingredient. Also the prices are very reasonable

one of my favourite places to eat. the husband & wife duo who run this joint are some of the nicest heart-warming people you'll meet. ridiculously tasty & straightforward food. the entire menu is delicious; whatever you order, you're going to have a good time in your mouth.
