When the mushrooms run out at daybreak on a wintry Bondi morn, one can take solace in the knowledge that local stalwart "BIlls" will provide sustenance and shelter. Invigorated by the suggestion of breakfast mimosas, my hardy companions and I slunk into the refined surrounds of the Hall St location and tried not to perspire all over our table. First established in the early-nineties, it's apparent that Bills didn't subscribe to the Nirvana-inspired punk rock ethos of the period. Boasting multiple locations, the restaurants are well-appointed if a little ascetic, a lot like the wait staff if the truth be told. It's more Pacifico-Stockholm than 90's Seattle but I was hoping on this occasion for something more than meatballs and flatpacks, so to speak. Our attempts to coerce the waiter into serving champagne and orange at 7.45 AM were soundly rebuffed by the no-nonsense maître d' so we settled on scrambled eggs and green juices all round like scolded muntins. The steady hum of muted conversation and deft crockery handling served as a pleasant backdrop to the overcast vista south across Bondi. Some rare moments of adulthood envelop you like a warm, fluffy Bills pancake or, at least, we like to remember them that way. The wait for our food was just long enough for us to negotiate the last channel of our slanted, deltaic conversation. Purportedly, Vladimir Putin had been denied entry to Berghain during his tenure in the KGB as a foreign agent. In retribution, Putin had returned later on and defecated in the queue out the front of the club. Talk about controversially laying a cable into Europe! Such demented blathering did nothing to put us off our meal, in as disembodied a state as we each were. Say what you will about their acquiescence to archaic licensing laws and loose, millennial-style jean trends, Bills know how to cook the shit out of their scrambled eggs. I haven't fully partaken of the menu but the eggs and green juice have piqued my interest sufficiently to explore further in future. We tipped to account for our beastly presence and wandered out into the salty, moist air. We'd cleared the delta and it was time for us to each face the sea again alone.
Bill's is certainly quite unique and unlike other restaurants. It's set in a beautiful area right next to Bondi Beach. It's definitely worth going to and I loved it.
The ricotta hotcakes are the only thing I get when I go to Bills... they are hotcake perfection; fluffy, fat, and moist with chunks of ricotta through them. there is a slab of honeycomb butter on top and you get a jug of maple syrup on the side.. it also comes with a banana sliced which makes you feel like you’re eating something kind of healthy. The cafe looks nice and it wasn’t too busy around 8:10am.
Sunny day at Bondi and we decided to rock up at this place last minute. Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long as soon as we arrived and I have to say, I was quite satisfied with their service. Adequate waiting time for table, ordering and food! Quite a big feat especially since it was a busy Saturday lunch!
This is a great find along Hall Street in Bondi! As an appetizer, the semolina-crusted Calamari is exquisite. But the highlight probably is their yellow fish curry which is probably the best of its kind that i have tasted! The flavour is just well defined that you just get to enjoy every bits. The place gives you a hippster feel, perfectly suited with the cool cafes along Hall street. Attentive staff, with such positive vibe, gives unbiased opinion and recomendation on their dishes. Overall, the place gives such a happy mood and satisfied craving. Go enjoy Bondi and make a dinner stop at Bills to cap the experience!
This place holds a special place in my heart as it’s where I decided on my first apartment in Sydney, along with my current flatmate (also our first meal together!), so the rating might be a little biased. However, part of me feels like there cannot be a better place to mark this occasion because of the classic coastal living vibe that you would expect from Bondi, along with its excellent food. It’s the type of restaurant where everyone in it seems to be genuinely happy. We absolutely loved the fish curry and would definitely come back for more.
Generous portions of delicious food and excellent service explain the almost full house at 9am. Ricotta hot cakes and the absolutely best scrambled eggs are a must try, but there are numerous interest piquing items on the menu. Waitstaff are attentive and polite. Service is quick but not harried. Coffee is outstanding. A place you would want to keep going back to.
Great menu, able to accommodate to a dairy & egg allergy and make substitutions.
Great decor & attentive switched on hospitable experienced wait staff.
This place is fantastic. We ordered from the classics: banana hotcakes, corn fritters (added the avo salsa), and the scrambled eggs (added avo & haloumi). Each was amazing, the most delicious breakfast my friends and I have eaten in recent times. We went back today for BLTs and the big breakfast as were just as impressed. Staff were nice too, chai latte fab, and the atmosphere and decor is lovely. Highly recommended. Fleur Cameron
Ate here twice with a party of 7. Every single meal met or exceeded expectations. Not cheap, but better value than other restaurants in Bondi beach and absolutely worth it for what you get.
Had a lovely lunch in Bondi at Bills. Had the Salmon bowl which had corn, edamame, beetroot, Asian slaw, cooked trout, cucumber and tomato. The kids had chips and toast.
Good happening place. Not cheap.
I went to Bill's for his famous banana hot cakes & yes everyone is right they are amazing! Pancake perfection!
The waiter suggested the watermelon frappe & it was so refreshing & delicious. Yum yum
Can't wait to go back & hit repeat!
Photo: coconut bread toasted w butter, the aussie (?)
Coffee: 6/10 one latte came with way too much froth and bubbly, other was was okay.
Service was friendly and quite professional, was looked after well from start to finish
Food: the aussie is pricey, simple, filling, but was nothing extraordinary. Coconut bread was a bit dry, but the butter was a good balance.
Vibe: nice fit out, spacious and modern, lots of natural light near the windows!
This cafe was terrific. The staff were so warming, accomodating and attentive. The food was GREAT, terrific variety of food. I was very happy and impressed with this cafe, I would highly recommend!
This place is so busy but I had to try it. Lucky for us we weren't in a big group and just a mate & myself.
The pulled pork was amazing and tender, busting with flavors! The korean fried chicken was crisp on the outside and looked amazing to the eyes. Coffee was good too...
Service was wonderful as they were quick to seat us and take our orders. I guess the one thing that might be a good thing but also a bad too, was the tables were so close I could hear everyone's conversations. The only good outcome to having such close seating to other tables were the fact that you'd get a better look on the food thats being dished out to those tables. Which made me want to eat those dishes too.
Had breakfast on a Fri and there was a queue to get a table, the wait was worthwhile. Service was good although the coffees took a while to come out. The Almond milk cap was delicious amd the "Fresh Aussie" was very tasty, perfectly poached eggs.
Went here for dinner with my girlfriends (had a discount voucher). The food took more than 30-40mins late, however the staff was very apologetic and also gave us free desserts. The food was good. I loved the chicken broth and the salmon! Would come again but was a very expensive.

On a beautiful, sunny winter's day, I thought Bill's would be perfect for brunch. After many years of wanting to try but never making the effort to wait for long, I prepared myself this time. At the peak hour time of 10am on a Sunday, the wait was half an hour. The place was open, modern & buzzy, filled with hipsters, trendy exercisers, people on dates & families. Service was friendly & efficient despite being so busy. The coffees were good & I had to try their infamous ricotta hotcakes that I had heard so much about. It was fluffy & light, so I loved the texture. In terms of taste, it was a bit too eggy for me but this was disguised when paired with the generous amounts of maple butter & maple syrup. You can definitely taste the ricotta though which is good although I'd still prefer a fluffy buttermilk pancake. The Full Aussie, or their version of big breakfast was good. Not so greasy like some, it was a delicious taster of bacon, pork, chilli & fennel sausage, cumin tomato, muso mushrooms, scrambled eggs & sourdough. Each element was delicious particularly the sausage & loved their scrambled eggs which was silky without being overly creamy. It was a pleasant brunch with good food, but pricey for what it is, to me a bit over hyped & the effort & cost to park & wait for a table wont see me running back in a hurry.
A fabulous breakfast! After a 15km walk we were hungry and dying for a great coffee.....we were not disappointed. The corn fritters were amazing (the best I've ever had), the hot cakes were popular with our party too. The coffee was great quality and the service even more so........a special mention to our awesome waitress Marijke, you are very lucky to have her Bill!!
Always busy so be prepared to wait 20-30mins for a table at busy times on weekends. Gorgeous design and furniture. All of the classic Bills dishes are here plus some new ones. Can't go past the creamy scrambled eggs and the corn fritters. The full Aussie will suit ravenous guys nursing a hangover. Great coffee too!
Raw smoothie and the granola- every time without fail... 3 times this last week actually. Staff are good, nice to sit outside and watch the people do the things- it's all time.

Still one of my fave places to get a good breakfast. I've always been a fan of the scrambled eggs at all Bills locations but in recent times they've expanded to make everything in my opinion good.
It is always a nightmare to find a place to eat without reservation on Friday night. Lucky enough, we have a table @Bills😊 I like the decoration, I like the low lighting, and I like the people sitting around me! We start from main. My curry dish was fantastic and the snapper dish was average. The desert tasted better than it was presented. Nice place, good enough food for romance.
Probably the best of the Bills outlets (nice decor, good location, and comfy fitout). The service is efficient and friendly and the food is consistent. The scrambled eggs are always delicious . Hot cakes were average (a bit thick and stodgy/undercooked plus lacking flavour - well overpriced at $22). Drinks are average and expensive ($7.50 for a small, watery "freshly squeezed" OJ? Don't mind paying that for a juice if it's decent but this was far from). Overall really pleasant though and worth it for egg lovers :)
Next door to the hotel I stayed at and looked impressive... Sat outside and a beautiful spot, the coffee very good and the pancakes the bomb..really good can't fault it...
Came here for lunch around 1pm and the weather it's quiet good. This restaurant have a very good interior I like the big window and it made the light can go though inside. I came here with my friends and we ordered
- prawn linguine it is 24.50 taste 4/5
- ricotta hot cakes with banana and honeycomb butter it is 21 taste 3/5
- sweet corn fitters with roast tomato, spinach, and avocado salsa my friend add some smoked salmon it is 26 taste 4/5
Overall it's good and I think I'll comeback again next time to try other food 👍🏻
Food was fresh and delicious and quick to come out. Would recommend the raw tuna and brown rice bowl! The pineapple, kale and coconut water juice was also great. Friendly service and a lovely space. A great spot for lunch on a sunny day.
Came here on a Sunday evening with the significant other. We were actually planning on heading to Mr Moustache but they were shut, so came to bills for dinner instead. Got there 8 mins before the kitchen shut and the food was just delicious. We ordered three share plates: the dumpling, side green salad, and kimchi fried chicken and they were all really delicious! I had a caprioska, and Rosé. The boyfriend had a martini and Irish whiskey on the rocks! It was a nice dining experience, but seeing that it was the end of the night, we took a while and I think the wait staff were ready to go home. Shall try again!
I've been wanted to visit Bills in Sydney. It's very
popular in Japan, I normally wait for more than
an hour to get in. Me&my friend ordered Ricotta Cheese Pancake and Wagyu burger. 3pc of Pancake for a plate, was more tasty having with melthing butter and yum maple shrup! Wagyu is great. Well cooked, served with fries, tomato sauce and the special sauce. Taste nicer if you have the burger with the special sauce and lettuce. The price will be $30 per person for drink and main.
Bills was always a sure bet for breakfast if you wanted to impress people from out of town. They nail their coffee (that's a positive thing), but you can't go past their scrambled eggs.
Seriously - I don't know how much cream they use - and nor do I want to - but their scrambie eggs are the TITS!
Their HR dept should be commended, as I've literally dined at Bills 100+ times over the years, and not once received bad service.
It was only in the past 18 months that I tried Bills for dinner.
I'm kicking myself for not doing this sooner, as the food is fantastic.
The menu offers some great Australasian fusion and a couple of go-to dishes include the Chicken Fat Fried Rice (like a bibimbap) or the Cauliflower & Tofu Curry.
The wine list ticks all the boxes, and it's no wonder the Bills model works.
Fine job by all involved!
I am still happy to say that the big breakfast is the best big breakfast I have had so the 3.5 is for the breakfast menu. With this in mind 3 of us went for lunch today hoping for the same quality for their lunch menu.
Between us for lunch we ordered the wagyu burger, hot cakes and I had the pesto. The pesto had an interesting mix of tastes but was a bit light and not very filling. The other dishes were ok but unfortunately didn't match the big breakfast standard that we had hoped. The meals and drinks are pricey so with that in mind just keep this place as a breakfast option.
The staff are extremely polite and helpful and they really enjoy explaining and recommending the menu. So for lunch it would be a 3.0 but leaning very close to a 2.5
The food is always enjoyable at Bills and the Bondi outlet maintains the standard. Everyone enjoyed their dish. For me it was the avocado with lime and coriander matched with a poach egg. The lime and chilli flakes add a nice zingy to the dish and make for a refreshing start to the day.
I was disappointed by the service. It was friendly and courtesy when it someone was in attendance, however there was plenty of time in between. We waited at the door several minutes upon arrival, to order and to pay the bill.
I always enjoy the food however so will be back to a Bills somewhere at some point.
Before visiting Sydney and I read numerous blogs related to must visit restaurants, Bills was listed there.
Friends, the location is absolutely majestic, sea beach just 500m away, quite area with no pollution of any kind, hence dining outside the restaurant or outdoor seating is much in demand and if you are lucky, you will get a table, and yay I was lucky ;)
I ordered Full Aussie under Classic category, please refer the menu attached. Now, I hate pork but I loved the other items in this option. Here comes the best part, I requested to replace pork with chicken and they did that with open heart. Scrambled eggs are their speciality and they didn't disappoint me at all. Every bite, I enjoyed thoroughly. Don't miss it folks at any cost.
Happy Dining!!!
Nothing to fault. The food was amazing and the service was fabulous. Very popular place. Waiting for a table may be required but most definitely worth the wait.
Great service with extremely attentive and caring waiters/waitresses. I recommend the green tea noodles with smoked ocean trout. Delicious!
Went in for dinner on a Sunday night and ordered the snapper and the pork belly. Both were exceptional!! We received really great attentive service from Georgina - she accommodated my difficult dietary requirements without any fuss and we were very pleased overall. On this basis we ended up going back 2 nights later. Again our meals were delicious and Georgina provided the same great service. Love the decor as well!
A really cute place on the popular Hall St. We ordered a few breakfast dishes and shared. The star of all the dishes were the little extras like honeycomb butter for the ricotta pancakes. Defintely a place to visit again and definitely a place to take an out of towner - Sydney brunch scene on the iconic Bondi Beach.
Beautifully cooked breakfast. The avocado salsa and salmon gravlax were particularly amazing. The food and drinks were frustratingly slow to come out. The service was friendly and attentive.
Beautiful modern Australian food.
Good, attentive service and nice ambience.
Hibiscus and lime soda was delicious! Stick Chilli Pork Belly and Salad was amazing.
Will definitely be back.
Nice food. Raw tuna and avocado with brown rice was Delicious. I also tried their special hot chocolate and asked for almond milk, first time was delicious, second time was not hot enough But not a big deal. Staff was helpful and friendly. Recommended
