Review Icebergs Club Bistro - Bondi

Mario Paez
Great casual club located in One of Sydney's most Iconic beaches. Really well priced food menu with delicious lobster spring rolls, caeser salad and lamb rump. The beef burger and chips are also great. Good alcohol drink prices.

Went there on New year day, have had potatoe wedges and chicken wings. Didn't expect that I will get reheated over cooked Wings and Wedges were little bit over fried (not great quality potatoes either). Their local Chardonnay was nice though. Overall, it wasn't bad.

The food that I ordered was not really good, especially the taco. I only had one bite and couldn’t finish it. But the view was so good so.. I will visit again.

We just came to Bondi Icebergs for the view and it was incredible! We only came for a snack but the food was what you would expect it to be, nothing incredible but still very nice. This was a nice place and the view made it very worthwhile, would recommend!

Exotic view at the tip of bondi beach. The food and drinks are average. But the vibe was beautiful for a brunch day!

Great food and friendly staff. Had the special on the day Cioppino. It was really good and the ingredients were fresh.

You come here for the view, the drinks, the photos and social gatherings. Food is not amazing. Just average bistro menu and taste.

Unbelievable view of Sydney Had a coffee and kids swam. Reasonable entry fee. Lots of half naked people walking around…

The perfect place to chill and enjoy your lunch at Bondi.<br/>Trip to Sydney would be hard to forget because of all the amazing food relished.<br/>Icebergs Club was no exception. Chilli bean & Tomato Nachos wasn't very spicy and full of flavour. The Vegetarian Burger was just perfect. The grilled Portabello Mushroom added so much texture and meatiness to the burger that one cannot forget.<br/>Highly recommended for everyone visiting Bondi Beach.

This is world famous and the view is spectacular. If you’re lucky enough to snag a terrace table you probably won’t leave quickly. The drinks were cold and the nibbles, while basic, were tasty and hit the spot.

The coffee was surprisingly good. Service was ok too. The decor is nothing to celebrate but who cares as the view of the beach and ocean is peerless.

Genuine detailed review. Went few MONTHS ago. (still compelled to warn patrons) Great views are a given. However service was quite poor. As soon as I walked up to the reception to ask about pram access, I was confronted/demanded ID without even telling me what for or even asking why I was there. I was told it was access via stairs only, which meant I had to go back to my family and tell them to wake the baby and disassemble the stroller. Once done, with baby in arm and ID registered, she demands each family member sign in with ID while I have my baby in my arm abou to wake. Did she not see all this? It was obviously a massive inconvenice to do all that with a half sleeping baby and a dismantled stroller. Not to mention a long line behind us. We were very rushed without any knowledge of table arrangements. We get downstairs, to see a group of people coming down in a lift? Seriously? This 1 star review acts not as revenge, but in hope this will get noticed and service improves. After all, there are plenty of other places around. Food was OK though. Would go back to see if there is a different experience.

Came by with a friend yesterday. Required ID to get in as we did not have a reservation for next door. The ambience is nice and there are some beautiful views. Some people with better eyesight than us spotted whales and dolphins in the water.<br/><br/>My friend had fish and chips, which was a large portion and she seemed to enjoy it.<br/>I had the porterhouse steak cooked to medium. While the inside was medium, it was tough to cut and chew for some reason. I've had some pretty good steak at pubs before, so this was quite disappointing. The mushroom sauce was tasty, although a bit too salty. The broccolini was either overcooked or not that fresh. The best thing on the plate were the creamy scalloped potatoes..<br/>The meal was expensive, and considering the food, I would say we were paying for the views rather than quality of food. Probably wouldn't choose to come back.<br/>

Few days ago, we did the coastal walk from coogee to bondi.<br/>Upon arrival, we decided to have lunch at Bondi Icebergs restaurant.<br/>As it was fully booked, we were directed to Icebergs Bistro next door.<br/>The lady receptionist asked us for ID.<br/>Some of us are tourists and showed them our overseas passports.<br/>My husband showed the lady his australian driving license .<br/>Upon inspecting, she told my hubby to pay AUD50 for membership before we are allowed to dine at Icebergs Bistro, as his driving license has a Coogee address.<br/><br/>I asked why?<br/>She brusquely told me off, “ we are a club house you know.”<br/>You live in Coogee, within 5 km radius. You need to pay 50 bucks for membership before you can dine here.<br/><br/>Hence, We decided to dine somewhere else.<br/>But my mind just couldnt help thinking, why would Icebergs allow overseas passport holders to dine without any conditions, but holders of australian driving license have to pay 50 bucks before being allowed to dine there? It just doesn’t make sense.<br/><br/>We have dined at Icebergs bar and restaurant before, and they never even asked for IDs.<br/><br/>Was it just her excuse yo get rid of us, as we are a group of 4 adults and 5 pre-teen kids.<br/><br/>Very frustrating and unpleasant experience with Bondi Icebergs Bistro, indeed.

Several visits this year for Tropfest, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, a Christmas work function and more recently a fancy date, the many reasons for a series of visits here not just by the editorial team but as the premium location to host nationally acclaimed events we celebrate their upcoming 90th Anniversary.

Fantastic views of Bondi Beach and swimmers below, if you manage to get a table outside! It was a beautiful day, couldn't ask for a better vibe. The food was average - expensive, glorified pub food. I guess you're paying for the view? Seafood platter was enjoyable, but not the fact that 1/3 of it was hot chips. Beef burger was average, steak was cooked well done despite our request for it to be cooked medium rare. Good cocktail jugs though!

Iconic location with fantastic views. And, obviously, that is what you’re paying for. <br/><br/>But really, this place is just your local RSL food. At the high end of the price scale. <br/><br/>The salt and pepper squid was overly peppered. That’s all you could taste. And it’s that dirty pepper, not the good kind. <br/><br/>The grilled harissa chicken was good. Cooked well with good flavour. But, similar to above, I feel the kitchen were a bit heavy handed in the chilli. I like chilli but this overpowered everything else. The menu also says it’s filled with prawns. Correct: prawn. One. <br/><br/>The steamed dim sums were probably he best thing. And they were clearly out of a packet. The accompanying sauce should be a dumpling sauce, as opposed to a hot sauce. <br/><br/>Staff were friendly and attentive.

Great views of the #Bondi famous pools. Went there with Dayane Feghaly and we had drinks after a long walk and lunch. Stopped for drinks and ice cream before ending the day.

An iconic Aussie tourist place to visit, we had lunch in the cafe, it’s who gets to the table first kind of cafe. No bookings so act quickly. When you have got your table you then line up to order your drinks, then line up for the food. Once this has been done you can sit back and enjoy the fabulous view it’s worth the hassle. I had the duck salad which was nice, it had a subtle Thai flavour and it was tender, hubs had the barramundi which he says was a bit tasteless. Overall it was worth the trip and I would recommend it.

Bondi iceberg is the iconic place at Bondi Beach, that’s for sure.<br/>Food is always comes with the beautiful view plus the price tags, that you have to pay.<br/>Food was absolutely good, view is awesome, can get any better than spend time here in the afternoon if you around Bondi <br/>

Ummm……we ordered seafood platter for share……but the seafood were not very fresh especially the oysters and prawn……will never come again……and don’t recommend others to come

Fine dining restaurant with ocean view, you can stay on the terrace or inside but you will still enjoy the amazing view of bondi beach and the ocean. The food is fantastic they over good choices of starters, pasta, risotto and fish. I’ ve tried one of the fish and the pork gnocchi- simply delicious. Good for lunchtime or romantic dinners.

I am so so disappointed in this place. The lady the at the door scanning ID’s was uninviting, unfriendly and rude. We walked down and asked for the next available table outside, the waitress had poor communication skills but managed to tell us that we could take a seat inside and as soon as one was available she would clear it and seat us. We sat inside and noticed that it had been quite a while, so we went outside to see what was going on and all of these people where taking all of the tables for themselves. The waitress forgot about us, ignored us and left us waiting around hungry. (I acknowledge that my next comment is not the restaurants fault) but the people around us were SO incredibly rude. We ended up leaving unfed, unattended to and went upstairs to the fine dining. It was not overly busy either.

Don’t do it. Oysters came with a dirty vinaigrette bottle that you spray. Service was foul except for the gentleman that greeted us. He’s the only good thing.

We came here for the view. You get to dine with the most amazing view of Bondi beach. However the food was a little mediocre and over priced. We ordered pasta, prawns, sword fish, potatoes and a few drinks. This is a nice place to go to for a few drinks/catch up with friends to enjoy the view.
Nicolatche
Mediocre food with an amazing view. The fish and chips here used to be really good! Sadly, not any more. Second rate fish, limp salad, below ordinary dressing and tartare sauce... the chips were good though. The music is commercial radio style, making it feel like an undersized RSL Club. If you sit outside that's not a problem... you don't really hear the music and the view is fabulous. And the Coopers is just fine.
Kdub
First of all they ask for your card as soon as you ordered and your long waiting time for your food begins. They don't wash ingredients when preparing, had food there once, can clearly see leafs with residue mud on it. I can confidently say from experiences the food are less quality than other 'luxurious' restaurants and are not professionally up to standard in customer services. The view is good but the restaurant is Highly NOT recommended! 80% paid for the view, 10% for food, 10% paid for poor/arrogant customer services.. What a disappointment!
The Naked Food Addict
Beautiful view, food was quite nice too. We ordered the "iceburgs seafood platter for two" which had cooked prawns, natural oysters, beer battered flathead fillets, salt and pepper squid, half shell scallpops with melted cheese, mussels in tomato with garlic and chilli and fries. I thought it was a great selection and the price was really decent too. I wouldn't say it is the best seafood i've ever had, but it was still really tasty :) Would recommend booking for a table outside so you can enjoy the view. They also do a really good chai latte also!

Spaghetti al Nero e Granchio and Maiale con Verdure al Cartoccio. Delicious food accompanied with a spectacular view of Bondi beach. Great spot to have a wine and catch up with the girls or a romantic afternoon date.
@benchorburgers
If you want to experience a bun that tastes like cardboard (burnt cardboard), a patty that reminds you of a desert and vegetables that suit the burger as little as Asian men suit black girls, make sure to visit this place. Oh yeah, and the burger had no freaking sauce inside...who does that!!! A taste that made me completely forget about the view 😣😤 The best part was getting free parking because all the ticket machines were broken.<br/>Gave it a 2 because the pasta was decent.
Good Food Good Mood
Icebergs personifies Sydney. It is an absolute Bondi icon and I always stop by for lunch and a jug of pimms whenever I'm in town. The food becomes almost irrelevant because it's all about the views but there's probably nothing you could order from the menu that wouldn't be amazing. The atmosphere is unparalleled if you are lucky enough to score a seat outside with the phenomenal view. An absolute must do at least once
Simmyeats.Melb
Great views but good luck trying to find a seat! We really felt like seagulls at a picnic, stalking and waiting to swoop on the first available seats and table! Felt quite desperate actually lol but once we found a seat we ordered our meals.  We saw the specials after we ordered which was disappointing as we saw some nicer items on the menu that we would of ordered.  I did have a look inside the menu to see if there were any specials but there wasn't anything in there.  The special board was missed by us but it would make sense to have them included in the menu. My duck salad was tasty and delicious, duck was cooked perfectly however the chicken dish my other half ordered wasn't the best.  I would recommend this place for a drink but I wouldn't go as far as saying that you must eat here.  I also feel it is expensive for what you get considering there is no table service.
Winedineslumber
The view...!!! This is Australia. <br/><br/>Half the price as it's upstairs neighbour, but with the same stunning views of Bondi. Nothing glam about the venue itself... it's an RSL, the food is still a bit expensive for what it is, but enjoyable enough. Great for taking tourists and families for a bit of casual lunch with something a little special.
The Foodie
hey guys! today i enjoyed a meal at bondi iceburg's club with my family. here's my review... prior to our outing we called up and asked to book a reservation for a table - knowing that on a sunny sunday in sydney would be a popular time to go to the club. the operator said that they don't take booking, and suggested we should "walk in". we did so and found our selves searching for a good 10 minutes looking for a table for 4. the atmosphere was very RSL/typical australian club sort. especially at the front door. although the view was spectacular. the service was pretty average. i ordered the beef burger. it took 40 minutes to get my meal, the chips were served soggy. i had very high expectations, which the club failed to meet. we sat by the glass balcony at a table of 4 and immediately a waitress came to clean our table. i gotta say it was overrated but i did enjoy the few. inserted are a few pics from my day. - TF
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
"This scene is iconically Australian and we wanted to share two Australian icons with you today," said Australian Pork Limited Marketing Manager, Mitch Edwards. The first Aussie icon he was referring to was visible through the wide glass windows: the iconic Bondi Beach. However it was the alluring smell, and wonderful appearance of the second icon that had actually caused us to gather at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar... It’s Australian Ham Week, a week that celebrates Australian ham, and effectively launches the Xmas ham season. Cracking the ham was always a big moment at our house. For most households, a bone-in leg ham represents a significant spend, so everyone wants to get this purchase right. We'd hang over it waiting for the first slice, asking will it have the right balance of flavour, smoke, aroma and texture? Well if you live in Toowoomba, you can be assured that Westridge Meats have got the goods. Taking out the overall artisan and best boneless ham, this family-owned butcher shop is one of three stores run by John and Lynette Yeo. “We source all our ham locally from Clifton just outside Toowoomba - the Jones - they've been running that piggery for years," said John as he collected his second award, having first taken out the trophy in 2011. He tells me that his resident master smallgoods maker, Kerry Brisbane, will be turning out nearly 1800 handcrafted hams using his own secret recipe this year, with most going to the lucky folk in Toowoomba. Winning an award like this one – or even taking out second prize as they did in 2013 – is good for business. “We got lots of customers who email and then drive 4-6 hours to come in," explained Lynette. They arrived in Sydney from Toowoomba earlier this morning, carting down packets of their leg ham so guests like me could try their-award winning leg ham. Executive Chef of Icebergs, Monty Koludrovic, kept guests entertained with tantilising tastes of...

Don't get The Icebergs Club confused with the "Icebergs Dining Room" which is the biggest wank in Sydney.... Icebergs Club is the best starting point for any occasion, breaky, lunch, dinner or just drinks. The views are beautiful, casual and local vibes, yearly membership is only $25 and the best value for money, always providing good entertainment and extremely well priced food and bev. Cheaper than some of the other pubs in Bondi and way better... Lamb shanks are out of this world!
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Spectacular location to lunch or enjoy a drink. We dropped in for beverages and found a table on the tiny terrace. Whilst the coffee wasn't anything to write home about, it was a perfect spot to enjoy a gorgeous Sydney winter day.

During our visit to Sydney for the Easter weekend we ventured out (to see for ourselves) the amazing reviews of the coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte and on our travels we stumbled across the Icebergs Club so decided to stop, grab a meal and soak up the breathtaking views!! I had a late light lunch which entailed the 1/2 kg prawns with cocktail sauce! The prawns were sooo fresh it was as if they came straight of a boat! The only thing was they were so busy we had to keep an eye out for a table on the balcony to admire the scenery!

After seeing that Oprah made a stop here during her last visit down under I wanted to check this place out and see what the raving was all about. And what better excuse to come here then for my birthday. I tried to book a table but was told they don't take reservations during the weekend. We around after 1pm and the place was packed out due to the nice weather. As soon as we went to order we were told there was an 30 min to 45 min wait for food to be served which I said we were prepared to wait for. Decided to order the grilled barramundi with salad and fries. My friend got the beef burger and fries. Well after waiting around for a table out on the balcony we waited for 40 mins for the food to come out. First thing I must say was the fries were Luke warm and not even hot or fresh, same with the barramundi which I thought would be warm but it wasn't and had some bones left which I had to remove. The salad was OK but not that fresh either so I would really come back here for the food. This place would of gotten a 4 for the view alone especially on a nice sunny day but not the food.
The RnB Diary
I would give it 4.5 for the view but 2.5 for food, hence 3.5 average score. No doubt you pay for the view, the food is expensive but extremely mediocre. I once ordered a prawn linguini and the prawns were half raw and uneatable! Regardless how busy the restaurant is, there is no excuse to rush and serve undercooked food!
David Ernst
Coffee was burnt, corn fritters were straight out of a packet and the guacamole was like it was out of a jar. Reminded me of grannies cooking. However, the view was spectacular.
Lee Pownall
I think the location and view are the best thing about this restaurant. Food was minimal & service pretty poor. Overall a little disappointing.
Trent Pritchard
Says $60 for 2 on this app? Cost us $200 for 2 pastas, 2 entrees, and 4 drinks. $50 entree size pasta dish. Was a good view but not that good.
Peter Johnston
The view - spectacular , beer selection - what you would expect in a Club ,  ... the food - beyond average  ... how hard is it to make a decent burger ? I am clueless in the kitchen but am confident i could put together something superior to what was served up to my overseas guests and i recently ... truly embarrassing ... this place could and should be so much better ....
Shelley
I ordered the grilled barramundi and followed that up with a latte. Like before, the grilled barramundi was served with a fresh greens salad and chips (fries).
The Cuisinerd
The giant prawns and steamed muscles were perfect. In fact, I've not had anything but amazing when it comes to seafood in Australia - top notch people...top notch! The wine selection was lovely, focusing mainly on the Hunter and Yarra Valleys. I can see why travelers and locals alike enjoy this place: the view, the easy food... simple luxury wrapped up in a casual meeting spot.

One of the things often said about Sydney is that it is a smaller version of London with more sun, more beaches and definitely more rain. With such astute observations, it isn't hard to imagine why so many Londoners flock to the other side of the world. I

Poor experience. Doesn't live up to the hype. Disappointed.. Extremely poor service, even though restaurant was filled staff still allowed people in, creating a crowded and stuffy environment. After finding a seat was told there is a half hour wait until the bistro was reopened, after waiting was told the delay is going to be extended and extended again until over an hour past and my group and I left. Waiter's reason for the delay was "We got busy". Really ?! So unless you like drinking over priced beer and watching others have fun come visit this place as I won't be bothering again.
Lanawood
A really bad experience - how sad for what used to be a great venue. I have never written a restaurant or bar review before but I cannot help myself in this instance. What a horrible drinks and dining experience.<br/><br/>My friends and I had drinks accidentally thrown on us by waitstaff, with little or no apology.<br/><br/>Food was ok, certainly not great, and provided with no silverware or plates for sharing - odd given all our plates were sharing plates.<br/><br/>Staff were generally rude and incompetent. Particularly surprising given we had ordered French champagne. <br/><br/>As a frequent diner in Sydney's Eastern Suburb and City eateries I was bitterly disappointed with this experience.<br/><br/>Icebergs was once upon a time a magical place to spend an afternoon - now nothing but a basic hovel with a good view. Pick up your socks.

Fabulous views over Bondi Beach and Icebergs pool. Good value for money and friendly wait staff. Very enjoyable breakfast. Disappointed that the chef did not stock gluten free bread as the vegetarian breakfast was not the same without toast!
Sean Kennaway
Great value for money in Bondi. 25 bucks for a very nice piece of barramundi is outstanding. Likewise the special penne boscaola. If you get on the balcony this is sensational value. Just come expecting RSL type environment and service inside and you will be happy.
Calum Walters
The view is great. Food is terrible. Was told 30 minute wait for food, waited an hour. If the sachet of sauce on the seafood platter is the highlight, they're doing something wrong. Beetroot and pumpkin salad had 3 pieces of pumpkin and 3 Beetroot.
4chillies
Great views. We went for a drink and the views. The place was packed but it had a great atmopshere. If you're visiting this is great place to while away a couple of hours.

We dined her accidentally as we inadvertently bypassed the dining room upstairs, however this bistro did not disappoint. We both ordered the Angus Rump Steak. We had requested it be cooked medium, when it arrived it cutted and tasted more like medium-well to well-done, but tasted like a decent steak should. The chips were nicely cooked and thick cut, and the mild aioli was a nice compliment to them. The salad was fresh but a bit bland. Overall, a good place to eat a hearty meal, with good prompt service and a marvelous view of Bondi Beach.

Bondi & the rain. We went for breakfast on a raining Saturday morning. There wasn't a chance in hell of even venturing out onto the balcony but were very happy & cosy sitting inside taking in the waves whilst having our bacon & eggs. Go for the view & the banter coming from the locals behind the counter.
