Review La Piadina - Bondi

Angela Laughlin
Warm, friendly service with Italian charm. The staff were passionate about the food and wine which only added to the experience. The Cacio e Pepe, Meatballs and Pappardelle were sensational as was the house-made focaccia and chilli oil. Thank you for a wonderful meal. We’ll be back on our next visit to Sydney

Came for Sunday lunch and sat at the big table for the 3 course meal. Everything was perfect. The food was authentic and very well made. Reminds me of my Nonna's pasta. The Service was excellent and everyone was very professional and knowledgeable. Watching the pasta being made from scratch at the other end of the table is a treat! Highly recommended for fans of Italian cuisine.

Super delicious pappadelle. Takeaway preferred. Staff are excessively busy, absolutely blasted. Losing one star because of the understaffing, which results in slower service. Our drink was waiting on the counter for ages. We waited a while to order. Rest of the food was okay. Someone who dined here last week got 3 zucchini flowers but we got 2?

We had lunch at this cosy restaurant in early May during our visit to Bondi. The pasta was made in-house so it was very fresh. Their wagyu beef pappardelle (pappardelle con ragu di manzo e rafano) came highly recommended and we couldn't agree less. Also had calamari friti which tasted different from the usuals. The calamari was cut into thicker ring and the batter was somehow soft with slight crunch. After we finished our meal, I had the pleasure to watch the chef made fresh pasta. Interesting visit and would definitely recommend to friends. The staff were very friendly too.

Possibly my favorite dessert in sydney. I come here for my Cremino craving. Getting hungry just writing this. The pasta is also fresh, delicious and cooked well

beautiful pasta its was delicious, just wished there were more options on the menu and translate the menu in English for dummies like me.. otherwise both pastas we ordered were beautiful 👌 and great service.

Such a great place. Great food. Great service. Great drinks. One of the most consistently excellent places in Sydney. Never had a bad meal or bad service in either the Bondi one or the Darlinghurst one. Simply Italian food - simply delicious! If you haven't been - Go! If you haven't been for a while - go back! And leave room for dessert!

We had a wonderful experience. Food and service were exceptional. We were there with friends and between the good food and wine our time together flew.

Wow fresh piadina is great (not like the hard stuff I got once from a food truck, which must have been quite old). It's like a firmer crepe and it held the pile of ingredients well. It's quite expensive (a similar manoosh might be half the price) but also big and I wish I'd shared mine with someone. Great coffee too, rich and rough and creamy, reminded me of Rome.

Great coffee. Very consistent, it’s obvious that the owners really care. However- please cook the crostata as the dough is raw. (Thank you). Keep up the good work

Piadina is one of my favourite dishes, it’s something simple but it’s hard to find a place in Sydney who makes them; so I was really happy to go there.
My piadina was not the best I’ve ever eaten in my life, but it was ok.
I think I had too much expectation and the location was not the top as well.
The good thing is that they also sell few Italian products.

The food here is always so yummy but their coffee is our favourite in Bondi. The baristas here always make the best coffee and are super quick as well. The food can be pricey but it is worth it. They also quite recently expanded so now there is a lot more seating too.

It was 3:30 in the afternoon and pouring rain outside, in need of a coffee fix & somewhere to hide from the rain. It took me a while to find a place still open & serving coffee, which is La Piadina. Had no idea what piadina was before this visit, the menu sounded interesting, as well as funky decor. But I was too full from lunch still & just needed a warm drink, so just got the coffee. It was good, smooth & not too bitter, just what I needed. Will be back to try the piadina next time.

La Piadina is a quaint cafe at the corner of Bondi Beach which pays pilgrimage to piadina, a thin Italian flatbread filled with a variety of savoury and sometimes sweet ingredients. The chefs prepared the dough fresh (in front of the diners) using a special machine and cooked them over a flat black iron stove

I tried their smoked ham provolone and Nutella piadina. On the one hand, The tiny bite-sized Nutellino piadina topped with icing sugar is crispy, delectable and "guilt-free." Nothing can go wrong with nutella! On the other hand, the smoked ham provolone tasted unsatisfactory raw and cold (the exterior was hot and interior was just cold).

This one is not on the beach road. So one would have to walk through a couple of streets across from there to get here. Definitely worth it though. They serve up some really nice Piadinas. The seating was nice and hosts were friendly too. Can't recommend this place enough.

LOVE THIS PLACE!

Simple, tasty food done well. No fuss, no pomp, just quality- exactly the way it should be.

Added bonus - they have gluten free options. Winning!

Across from the Beach Road Hotel near Bondi Beach. I had heard about this place from a friend, I was in the area and decided to visit. An unassuming place with a few outdoor tables, some seating inside and a bench table at the front of the shop, great for watching the action of Bondi.
They have a simple menu, serving an Italian style house made flatbread(piadina) they fill the flat bread with quality ingtedients. I went the Italian sausage with Mozzarella, mushrooms and rocket. Simple fresh and quality ingredients, making for a delicious meal.
It was a hot evening when I stopped by, so I decided to order a spritz. They do aperol and campari, a nice refreshing drink - perfect with la piadina.
A great spot if in the area, perfect for a spritz a bite to eat and to take in Bondeye.

Absolutely delicious salami pizza. Nice presentation too. And tastes super fresh. Only took 5-10 minutes to come out. Pretty good coffee too!

Popped in for a quick stop to rest my weary legs - got a skim cappuccino and a nutella bombolini to tide me over till lunch. Its in a busy little laneway. Such a great culture in the commu

Came here last night for a quick bite to eat and really enjoyed my prosciutto piadina. It's a little pricey for a glorified quesadilla, but it was still good. I also wish they accepted credit cards without a surcharge as I always find restaurants pushing the cost of business to their customers a bit petty. If you're charging $15 for a piadina you might as well bake the 3% credit fee straight into there and save the awkwardness and inconvenience.
Manon Dallee
The menu is numbered, like a Chinese restaurant and hosts a range of the traditional ( tomato, buffalo mozzarella ) to the not so traditional ( speck, sweet gorgonzola and raddicchio ), ranging from about $9-$15. But no Italian trattoria would be complete without a Campari.

Great little spot. Always c.... Great little spot.
Always come in for the Njuda piadina

A must!. One of my favourite places in Sydney. Coffee is excellent, piadina is so good. They are introducing lot of new specials, so I can try something different and amazing every time. They now open on monday, have almond milk and gluten free/vegan options - so exciting.
Staff is helpful, always smiling. Recommended

This hole in the wall does things a little differently. Behind the counter is a large cabinet with a delicious looking selection of cured meats and delicious cheeses, which are sliced right in front of you before being placed in their fold over pizza pockets. They are the perfect portion, ideal for curing a craving without feeling like a porky pig. They have a nice little wine menu, or BYO – the optimum spot for a casual dinner, but not with too many pigs because seating is limited.

Overall, it’s hard not to love this Italian hole in the wall. The service whilst slow, I am assured they are ridiculously friendly. I really like the attitude of the café, the look and feel, to me, gets the Bondi with a bullseye. The food looks great, although I did not try it, but would be down for a sneaky piadinas or two in future (keen Saava?) and the coffee captures the perfect Italian style roast. Whilst this kind of roast is ridiculously out of favour at present in Australia, any true coffee nerd would love the cheekiness of the flavours that emerges from this bean. It’s not my favourite coffee, but then again I am an urban yuppie and like less roast and more bean to my coffee. I do rate this as the best Italian Roast I’ve had to date.

...excellent hole in the wall cafe. This place allows you to grab a bite to eat, a coffee or even a spirit away from the crowds that you can't avoid at the water. Not worth it!. Don't get me wrong, the piadina the guys do is actually really good, the dough is fresh and ingredients are great quality. The problem is that is EMPTY!!!! Not enough ingredients and too pricy - they should become more generous with portions. Service is ok but can highly improve. Totally overrated. Piadina is a simple dish you can make at home, and put as much prosciutto as you want in it!

La piadina is....... Piadina. Being an italian big fan of piadine of the riviera romagnola, were the piadina is a very famous regional dish, eaten by anyone at anytime and with great historical gastronomic value I thought this piadineria in Bondi wouldn't get even close to the "real" one.. I was wrong!
I've to say that these guys did a great job.
One of the brothers explains to me that the dough is made fresh every day,
Using just simple but superior quality ingredients. The water for the dough is filtered and they use a special unprocessed salt too.
Also I was very impressed when he told me that the piadine aren't precooked but individually opened with an electric rolling pin, cooked on a big gas hotplate and garnished to order. It takes more time but its much better!!
The quality of the salumi and cheeses was impressive too.
From the prosciutto di Parma to the speck to the taleggio and stracchino too!!
I had a traditional number 3 with prosciutto, stracchino and rocket. for drink a bottle of menabrea....i was in even.
ALSO: they make piadina with kamut which is very big in Italy and a healthy alternative.
Grazie guys for keeping up the tradition even so far from where it originated.
Very inspiring
Just one request:
OPEN IN MELBOURNE!!!!!!!!!!

Disappointing. Food is ok, nothing spectacular. The owner needs to acquire a better attitude, he seems to look down on his customers, very gruff and bitter. We wont be going back.

Perfect Pizza. Cute, low key hole in the wall that does great pizza made from cured meats shaved right in front of you. Staff are always friendly and food never disappoints.

Some of the best coffee in Bondi!! Always great. The piadinas are delicious and if your lucky they have awesome tarts and pies for dessert. Great atmosphere!! I will never get tired of hanging out there, a favourite spot in Bondi for sure!! Worth a visit

Top quality produce. So I travel really far to go and eat la piadina, but now I found out it's more worthwhile because they're using Pino's small goods in there.. and they use special salt in there too (the himalayan stuff). totally worth the travel, even if finding parking in bondi is a pain!
