Review Panama House - Bondi

Adrianna Morones
Food is great, great view of the ocean and staff are nice. I've been dying to try the Bottomless brunch, but have been unsuccessful. Panama House is just a few blocks away from me and I've always wanted to try it. I found them online and saw they do a bottomless brunch. The first time I went, they wouldn't allow me to do the bottomless brunch because we were a party of "2" and it needed to be 3 or more. This is not stated anywhere in the restaurant, online or on the menu. So we left out of frustration. The second time we came with 4 people and asked for the bottomless brunch and we were told we were to make a booking ahead of time if we want the bottomless brunch. Again, very annoyed. We ended up ordering off the regular menu and everything was delicious. I would recommend everything we ordered. Which includes: Huevos rancheros -flour and corn tortillas, scrambled eggs, cheese, beans, guac, sour cream, and pico de gallo. We also added a size of chorizo. Smoked corn fritters bourbon-smoked corn, avocado, poached egg, tomato relish, ranch dressing - very yummy Chicken ‘n waffles -crispy fried chicken, belgian waffles, bacon-jalapeno maple syrup, cilantro The Quesadilla, and Crispy prawn tacos were also great. Overall food is great, they have delicious coffee, and there's a great view but I'm a bit displeased with the experience.

Great food and great view! Nice view near the Bondi Beach with a balcony. Serving up a variety of food options and a bar this place is a nice place to have weekend feast. My favourite was the chicken wings and fried chicken and waffles. Flavours on the wings was on point and the fried chicken batter was so tasty! Mexican food here was really good and great with booze! Had a disappointing brunch here despite ok food in taste. All the food came out cold. Service by the waitress called Gigi was really lacklustre. Food took around 20 minutes per course to come out despite the restaurant not being that busy. No apologies we given. We were also not given any explanations of what the courses were as they arrived. No explanation of how the brunch worked. . that the bottomless brunch meant you could reorder the food on the menu. We waited patiently until another waiter came by to check after we complained no food was coming out. They didn't put through our coffees and had to be prompted again. Food overall was ok.... Unfortunately several items on the menu were not the same when they were served. The Barramundi on the banana leaf was in baking paper... The salad with broccolini and radish was just rocket salad with snow pea ( there was just 2 snow peas in the salad itself). I understand often there can be menu changes but it's a set menu why wouldn't you explain if one of them is changed? Considering we waited so long for each item of food, it wasn't worth the wait. We were really looking forward to this brunch for our friend's birthday and it left a bad taste in our mouths.

Let me guess, it’s only Tuesday and you’re already hanging out for the weekend? Make yourself feel better by booking in for a bottomless boozy brunch facing the famous Bondi Beach at Panama House. Now that I have your attention, the brunch part, which is also bottomless, is yours to be had for $35 or $45 per head, depending upon whether you want to kick off in the breakfast or lunch part of the day. It includes tea or coffee, though if you’re more a Mimosas kind of gal, the ‘bottomless’ 2-hour booze package is a worthwhile fifty-buck add-on. While the drinks list also includes the brekky cocktail of champions, the Bloody Mary, plus a Mexican Michelada that blends beer, lime juice, seasonings and tomato juice, Mexican Tecate beer, and rosé, you won’t be allowed to double-park. Drink up and blame the Liberal Government, like the rest of the Wentworth electorate you're sitting in. Speaking of sitting, you’re going to be eating and drinking in comfort. Hovering one-floor above Campbell Parade with a sweeping view of the crashing surf, Panama House is an attractive space. I entered through the leafy concrete courtyard of the rebadged QT Hotel, and was mighty impressed. While the balcony would undoubtedly be heaving on a sunny day, the interior gives you more luxurious seating. Reclaimed brick walls with a white panel provide a through-line to Panama House’s earlier incarnation on Bondi Road. In this space, local stylist Jason Grant has employed a coastal colour palate of blues and earthy browns across ironbark hardwood tables, comfortable tub chairs and leather banquettes, including some cool high-backed booths for groups. An efficient kitchen under the new stewardship of Head Chef Ben Fitton - a man who has cooked at The Fish Shop, Café del Mar and Macleay Street Bistro - gets us rollin’ with a heaving plate of quesadillas straight away. They’re filled with mole verde chicken (a green mole made with pumpkin seeds and green chillies) and served with pico de gallo (fresh tomato salsa), guacamole and lashings of ranch dressing, and make for compelling eating. In case you haven’t guessed, the menu is broadly Central American, though the dishes have been re-interpreted with a contemporary, Aussie palate in mind. Chilaquiles verde is a great example of this, with corn totopos employed to modernise the dish for diners who prefer texture. As personable Bar Manager Jake Sherab explains, with a story of travelling to Mexico on an authentic alcohol recognisance mission, this classic Mexican breakfast is normally fried tortilla bathed in salsa verde until tender (read: mush). Sherab also gifts us three condiments in habanero, jalapeno and pineapple, explaining quickly that they’re all very accessible. While personally, I was disappointed there was nothing with any heat, my misery was tempered by watching my non-chilli eating dining companion hoeing into the habanero but avoiding the jalapeno because she knew they were hot. After I explained the red chillies actually are ten times hotter on the Scoville scale, she happily ate all three. The corned beef hash croquettes are something of a Panama House signature. They’re made on silverside that has been marinated for 4-5 hours and creamy potatoes, and served on a line of smoked garlic aioli – which salsa you add, is entirely up to you. By the time we hit a skillet of baked eggs served in a black lake of frijoles adobo, I'm starting to hit the wall. I meander through the crisp kale leaves and try the beans on the accompanying sourdough, wishing for some hard-core chilli to get my endorphins flowing and allow me to push through. Sadly it was not to be, and the heaped meat platter teaming Andouille sausage (the Creole version rather than the French original) and maple-cured bacon went virtually untouched. I did like that they brought the meat at the end though, against lovely hazelnut, pepita and sunflower seed-covered hunks of roasted pumpkin.

Love this place, definitely one of the best options in Bondi. Nice little balcony and view towards the beach. Comfortable furniture and great food options. I really enjoyed the burrito, however portion size for the fish tacos was a bit tight(2) they were delicious.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant, in an amazing spot in the heart of Bondi. The drink selection was fantastic, I had some craft beers that were very good. The night I went in the kitchen accommodated very late for us and made some food and despite the trouble we made for them it was spectacular. This is a must for the Bondi area!

Airy resto with nice views of the beach. I’m only giving it 3 stars because our food came so late—about 40 minutes! The food was pretty good though. We ordered the fish tacos and the fajitas! DJ was playing some nice beats as well. We went on a Saturday.
Gavin Bateman
Love the new venue and menu. The octopus and pork belly were amazing. We really enjoyed our spot on the balcony, sipping Panama margaritas. Thanks, will be back soon.

(3.5 stars)
As the liar from the Shire might enquire: how good is Bondi’s off-season? Being able to find a parking space resurrects Bondi Beach as a dining destination, though I wish Waverley Council would support their local restaurants with appropriate off-season rates on their wallet-gouging parking fees. It set us back over twenty bucks to park for the duration of a one-course dinner. To be honest, I should have used a ride-share vehicle anyway: Panama House has an amazing tequila collection, and – across two separate visits – knowledgeable bar staff who can really do it justice. The El Jolgorio Espadin ($38/90ml carafe), made with agave Espadin from growers who wait until their agave plants are eight to ten years old before they harvest them, has so much going on it stretches my mezcal vocabulary. Panama house is a Central American restaurant located on the second level of Campbell Parade’s The Pacific Building, above the esplanade. The restaurant has a great view overlooking Bondi beach. Panama house is famous for its Latin American fare at any time of the day, be it brunch, lunch or dinner. Whilst it’s winter, drop in and let them warm you up with Sunday Roast.

Is it crazy that I’ve never had a Sunday roast before? Seems un-Australian but thank goodness for Panama House and Supper Club Sundays for changing that!

Totally digging the rustic vibes and homeliness of a rotisserie. The Argentinian herb chicken was succulent and had a beautiful depth of flavour. The corn purée mellowed out the saltiness of the chicken by providing some sweetness. The Kurobuta pork neck was served in a massive baking dish decorated with fruit and veggies. The pork itself was a little dry but otherwise the flavour combination worked well. Roast kipfler potatoes were seasoned perfectly and the sautéed cavolo nero was a nice complement to a heavy meal.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

My thanks to Panama House and Push Play Media for the invite.
Excuse Me Waiter
The stylish Panama House sits on a second floor perch inside the modern Pacific complex, with a balcony overlooking Bondi Beach and comfortable leather booth seating options inside. We dropped in for dinner to try out their Central American menu and started off with some drinks to enjoy the laidback ambience. From their summer spritz menu, the Susie Got Your Number cocktail is a refreshing blend of Bloody Shiraz Gin, strawberry aperitif, berry shrub and sparkling wine that would be the perfect beverage during warmer months. As the weather has been a bit cooler lately, we also tried their Casa Silva Carmenere, a Chilean red with distinctive smoky, spicy aromas.

Would highly recommend the cauliflower, Mac and cheese and salt and pepper squid. Tacos were definitely a let down. Cocktails were great and overall cute vibe and gorgeous view of Bondi.

Really loved this place, made me fee so welcome and relaxed from the moment I stepped inside. The food was fantastic and well prepared with the right seasoning and flavor combos. The drinks were incredible, good selection and perfectly balanced with the food.

Went here with 3 girlfriends for a birthday brunch. The wait staff took our order without writing anything down, and 3 out of 4 orders turned up incorrect. Additionally I paid in cash, and was short changed by 5c because they didn’t have enough cash in the til, which I thought was odd. The food was fine but I probably won’t be returning.
Love At First Bite
Panama House is a modern Mexican restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner menus right by Bondi Beach with great views of the beach. The ambiance is the place is lovely, it is modern and open and perfect for warm summer days. I came here with a group of friends for brunch on weekend, keen to relax and unwind.

***Was only here for Melbourne Cup***
Their Melbourne Cup Lunch menu consist of 3 snacks, 4 entrees, 3 mains, 2 sides and 1 dessert, all designed to be shared. The salt and pepper squid was delicious, tender and well seasoned. The ceviche was fresh. Of the mains, I enjoyed the snapper the most, it was cooked just right, and the basil matched the flavours of the fish really well.

Overall the food was beautiful and nicely presented, staff was helpful in serving us. Note that my experience was from this special occasion, and I haven't been to Panama House on a 'normal' day. Keen to come back and try their brunch menu though and see what it's like.

Panama House sits in such an idyllic location - upstairs gazing out across the road right on to Bondi Beach. The views are spectacular and it is no surprise that they take full advantage of them. High floor to ceiling glass lets the light and outside views in to the room. There’s also a pretty balcony with heaters for cooler evenings. These spots go quickly.

Best food on bondi hands down. Awesome atmosphere and amazing staff and service. Love it.
Recommend the salt and pepper squid and grass fed sirloin.

Any restaurant that can make you feel like you’re on holiday has a big tick from me. And put me in a kaftan because Panama House has this affect.

Good food and good service. Interesting having a DJ at brunch. Music was a bit noisy and took away from the mood. Food was great though. Well priced.

Went with my mom and boyfriend and the food was so nice. The mixture in flavours was amazing. They have tapas style so we could taste different dishes. I will def recommend this place. :)

Really sad to see this place decline so much, it used to be awesome all around and never failed to deliver great friendly service and great food. The last few times I've gone been met with outright rude or flippant staff who clearly don't want to be there and just look ill and hungover, I have also been really disappointed by the food. Today I ordered avo on toast (what could possibly go wrong with that?) there was no avocado so had to ask for some on the side, the bread was soggy and cold and and the eggs cold also, I sent it back after a few mouthfuls. I also had a dirty glass with lipstick on, I quietly and with no fuss pointed this out and asked for clean one. She forgot so I got up and got my own clean glass. When asked if my food was good when paying the bill I said no it wasn't I sent it back they just shrugged their shoulders and I didn't take it off the bill, no apology. I watched someone else also send back the same breakfast while I was paying. 18 dollars for returned breakfast, I had to go next door and buy something from the bakers. Really appalling, such a shame, this was my go to local breakfast and lunch place. I used to go 2-3 times a month, won't be going back ever again. Bring back the old manager and chef.

Fresh and relaxed lunch in the packed and popular Panama House. Chicken and beef fajitas, a prawn salad with green tea soba and guacamole with multi-coloured corn chips. All delicious options....and hip and happening tunes to match! Fun!

New owners took over recently and the quality has jumped so much! Great coffee and food, super friendly staff. This is my local and I'm glad to see it doing well.

Uh oh had a pretty bad experience! We were seated, coffee order taken, meal order taken, my friends hot chocolate cane out ... no coffee for me, wasn't bothered figured it would make it, then out came breakfast, nothing to write home about but fed us after our run, still wasn't upset that my coffee hadn't arrived but by the time we had finished breakfast I was aware they must have made a mistake, let the brunette girl know she didn't seem to care so I asked her if I could just the coffee take away. Yep no worries she talked to the barista all seemed good waited for 10 minutes saw other people who had arrived after us get their coffee but they just had no sense of urgency around fixing their mistake, I finally asked the brunette girl for a refund who again didn't care at all was very dismissive and walked off!!! I then caught the attention of the blonde girl who served me and took the coffee and breakfast order advised her what had happened requested a refund, then!!!! Got a $3 refund instead of the $4 they charged me!!! totally terrible experience don't go here the food wasn't great the service was fine until there was a problem then they were downright rude. I didn't even get cranky u til I got ignored repeatedly!
LOVE this place! Have come here a few times now and it's definitely up there as one of my fave's. The sourdough with berries and a side serve of bacon is my guilty pleasure, but the healthy side of me definitely says the breakfast bowl. I will be back!

I have been here twice. Loved it the first time. Tried the corned beef hash and huevos rancheros, which were both very good. The second time was not as good. Had the fajitas and the Mexican big breakfast , but both didn't have much flavor and were cold. The service was also very poor. I usually don't make negative reviews on service but there were probably as many workers as customers and we were never approached for food, drinks or bill

A cosy bar! Very good food, salad is light and tasteful, yummy beef cheese burgers! Very good music, you will be very relaxed when you sit inside. A bit slow serve but it is worth waiting.

Excellent fair! Really loved the tacos and choice of 4 house-made chilli sauces! Po'boys here are so damn good! Used to get them takeaway all the time.
Cocktails are great and ideal to enjoy with the menu line-up.

Price is decent but you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality and taste!
YUM!

Delicious delicious delicious. The vege burger was one of the best that I've ever had. The patty was flavoursome and spiced to perfection. I've found that spices can be very hard to perfect with vegetarian food - a very fine line. My friend had the Augusta salad and said that it was one of the very best salads that she had had in a very long time. I highly, highly recommend Panama House for beautiful, fresh food.

Superb, friendly and accommodating service, and good with the kids. Top coffee and delicious breakfasts with a nice mildly spicy Latin tinge to the menu that works a treat. Perfect eggs and tasty bread to top it off. Definite recommendation. Pic: Divine huevos rancheros with enough spice to make things interesting but room to adapt to your own taste buds. Superb.

This place was such a good find - we came here for a special friends dinner as a surprise birthday - and everyone absolutely loved the food and atmosphere here.

Every single shareable dish that came out on the table was delicious - and the waiter who also served our table was extremely nice and went through the entire menu like a tour group leader. He was really good at explaining how the whole shareable menu worked, and how many dishes to order for our table size (we had 7 people) so he recommended us to have at least 6 dishes to share amongst us.

The deconstructed fajitas is a must, it's so much fun assembling all the delicious fillings in the supplied tortillas. What stood out though was actually the brussel sprouts - definitely order this if you see it on the menu!! I wouldn't of ordered it if it wasn't for a friend on the table who liked brussel sprouts.. And we were really glad she ordered it because it tasted soooo good!!!!

Also for cocktails - I really really liked their Banana Colada, I had to order two of those. the Pisco Sour was quite nice too, as well as their passionfruit cocktail.

Definitely enjoyed our visit at Panama House - it's the combination of great food, great service, and great location as well being so close to Bondi Beach. We strolled there right after dinner (only 10 minutes) to catch sunset and ice cream by the beach. I'll be back though again soon to try out more of their menu, as well as their desserts!!

Lucky locals! We had the scallop ceviche and Fremantle octopus tostada to start. Both were fresh, perfect size & a great entree to the evening.
We follow that with the fajitas and prawn risotto which was not rice but pearl barley. Again two fabulous dishes.
We could not fault the food nor the service which was delivered in sparkling style by our hostess, this restaurant would be the envy in any suburb.

Came here for a late lunch with a friend. Was rather keen going off the other reviews and was pleased to see quite a number of other patrons. Good international beer menu which is a nice little touch. Not a whole lot on offer for food choices as we were just to late for the breakfast menu which is lengthy until 1pm. Went for the chicken and avocado roll that looks more or less like a burger. Unfortunately very bland taste and quite small definitely didn't suit the price tag. My friend ordered the brisket and thought it to be rather average. Both orders came with chips and aioli sauce and we left most of them on the plate. Breakfast menu looked a lot more promising and the tacos have been praised by my friends. Unless these guys have a burger revamp just go for the breakfast menu or tacos, way to many better burger joints in the area.

When the lovely waitress tells you the habanero relish will "kickstart your morning", she means "you will feel like you've deepthroated an enraged fire-ant".

Up to that point however, everything was exceedingly yummy. The breakfast taco was richly flavored and only required a *hint* of spice. I ordered this because the online menu is incorrect; there is no avocado and eggs. I've uploaded a new menu to the photos.

Also, the taco is served in a half-plate, half-bowl thing. A plowl, if you will. Which makes it difficult to use a knife to cut things. In the plowl.

Otherwise, cool industrial look; exposed brickwork, filament globes, friendly staff. Just avoid the habanero relish for breakfast.

Was really disappointed with the experience I had over the weekend, especially after reading all of these glowing reviews. Did I go to the same Panama House as all of you? My partner ordered the braised beef and creamy garlic mash. The creamy garlic mash wasn't creamy, garlicy, or mashed... Rather, it was powdered, plain and came from a packet....I ordered the steak, which was cooked well, but no different to something prepared on the BBQ at home.
Disappointing and won't be going back any time soon.
Chris Mohen
Love this place-chips are the best, burger is great! They are super friendly but not too over the top- sit in the window and watch the rabble roll past, summer or winter! So good! Brekkie to dinner they've got it all... Couldn't recommend enough
J.R.Hartley
Do you like hipsters and waiting for ages just to receive a menu? Do you like listening to the staff talking about some terrible sounding independent cinema nonsense when all you want is a coffee? Then stop the press, this place is for you. If this place was footwear it would be crocs. Personally, I hated it.
Miss_Ellie
Perfect food. Couldn't have asked for a better way to spend an anniversary than sharing three mains here with my boy
Ronin47
Huevos rancheros. Came here first thing for breakfast - they had just opened up. Had the huevos rancheros - corn tortilla, spiced black beans, sour cream , guacamole, salsa and a fried egg. I had got mixed up and actually ordered an extra side of the black beans which was really gigantic. Putting that aside the breakfast was really tasty and there were several condiments on offer as well. Service was friendly and great. A lady next to me kept varying her coffee order and wanted it just right and all these requirements were met.

Extremely moist and tender and a devilishly crunchy crust. A good helping of gumbo sauce moistens things up even more, accompanied by a breaded piece of okra all sitting on a bed of delicious creamed corn. This was one excellent dish packed with flavour. New Orleans Sticky Baby Back Rib This is a real “please sir… can i have some more’ moment. The perfectly cooked strap of rib falls apart and melts in your mouth. Smothered in a sweet, smokey sauce and garnished with a couple of buttermilk onions rings, I was literally left licking my fingers (and seriously considering the the same for the plate) Pulled Pork Po-Boy and Jerk Chicken Tacos What an amazing thing a Po-Boy is! Super soft lightly toasted break filled with mouthwatering pulled pork. A generous helping of coleslaw and a dollop of mayo and your good to go. The tacos are equally as good. The jerk chicken spicy and f

The Panama Burger…wow, I think it’s safe to say that this is definitely up there for one of the best burgers in Sydney. The patty to bun ratio (very important) was perfect and the cheese flavour was evident but not too overpowering. My favourite addition was the crispy onion rings creating an added texture to the burger that stole my heart. The parmesan chips were also a knock out...A great addition to the Bondi scene and once summer hits I will definitely be back to get the burger after a tiring day at the beach of doing nothing!

We stopped in at Panama house - a cosy cafe with the cutest blue cups and saucers. PZ enjoyed a cheesecake milkshake (a bit salty for me, but PZ was a big fan), while I enjoyed a nice pot of chai tea. The decor matched the style of Bondi - relaxed, beachy and too-cool-for-school - loved the combination of exposed brickwork and subway tiles. Great atmosphere - pity it was mid-morning and not food time (or wine time). Check them out here

The service is friendly and relaxed, just like the atmosphere. The exposed brick, white tiles, pendant lighting and brass detailing transforms from a light, airy cafe during the day to a dim-lit date spot at night. The narrow space works well with small tables running along one side, and seating at the bar on the other. Word on the street is they will be opening up the back court yard this summer for Sunday sessions and someone there to serenade you!

Here we are on Bondi Road on a wet Sunday, rubbing shoulders with folk that look like they’ve stepped out of a G-Star Raw catalogue. No pretense, just effortlessly too cool for school

My old stomping ground of Bondi is not an area we visit nearly as often as we should. The dining landscape has changed dramatically and it really is a suburb we need to be paying a lot more attention to. Panama House is one of newer establishments to hit the Bondi Road strip and what a welcome addition it is. Brought to us by the chaps behind 'shop & wine bar' and 'the corner house' - Panama House endeavours to take us on a culinary journey through Central & South America with a stopover in Mexico, on our way to good ol' Southern USA. We arrive around midday on a very busy Saturday afternoon. The long narrow room, with its denuded walls & industrial lighting (courtesy ici et la ) , looks deceptively small - but there is ample seating, thanks in part, to the bar that runs the length of the room and the stools dotted along it. The menu is extensive to say the least.

Breakfast at Panama. First impression....not good. Greeted by a soulless unenthusiastic waitress. Ordered our breakfast for 5 people, waited 1 hour then finally the coffee and food. The food was very good but not good enough for our return.

Sweet Corn Fritters with Tequila Spiced Ocean Trout. A really light and refreshing dish that you will love.

Fantastic food, friendly (if slow) service. Loved the authentic mexican food! 4 different salsas for the table, great flavours, just delicious!
service was a little slow/forgetful, but very friendly and walked us through the menu knowledgeably.
recommended!

Great burger!. I normally just have a taco here but was hungry enough to move up to a burger. And, outstanding! One of the best burgers I've had in some time and the parmesan fries amazing. Friendly, fun, great vibe. Becoming a favourite.

Great Reuben !. Lunch today ...coffee was good. Reuben was very very good...$14 but nice and big like they should be. Service super friendly .

Great find.. We stumbled upon you guys by accident a couple of weekends ago, it was brilliant. You know when you don't really know what to expect, earlier plans had fallen through, feeling over it, well that was our night. You surprised us and turned our evening into a very enjoyable one. Thanks guys, keep up the good work

Great Atmosphere. Visited on an evening with 2 friends, sat at the bar. The atmosphere is great, the barman very attentive. They seemed to do well with only 2 wait staff and a full restaurant. The Beef Carpaccio was delicious although I probably could have eaten it again. One of my friends thought her tacos were a bit bland. The salsas that they provide are awesome though - big flavour hit! Will go back for a light dinner or cocktails :)

Breakfast. Really not a bad breakfast, good coffee, and a change from the stock standard Bondi breakfast.
Portions pretty small, but good quality.
Service was good, so perhaps the problems are an evening thing?

Better options in Bondi Road. I followed the google search reviews and fell for it. It is an interesting menu, but the barista was rude and we felt ripped off. Knowing Bondi Road well, there are definitely better options close by, it felt like a Bondi tourist trap.

Sorry about the bad review, but this was my experience.

Fantastic. Intimate atmosphere, attentive floor staff and tasty, well presented food makes this spot definitely one you can recommend to your friends and family or keep in your mind for future business trips or holidays to Sydney. The highlight for me was the Banoffee Brulee. One word: AMAZING
Sara
The food is great cant say much about the service. There is an English chick with short hair who is so absolutely rude and needs to learn some manners. Won't be going back there again. Soo rude. Never had such rude service before

Tasty food, great atmosphere. Service a bit hit and miss and portions are small.

Super tasty and creative food. Friendly helpful welcoming staff and great atmosphere. I've enjoyed breakfast lunch and dinner at Panama House and highly recommend it!

Good Food But Portions?. We went to Panama House for Lunch one day. We loved the rustic and cosy feel of the cafe and the staff were welcoming. We ordered a Pulled Pork Poh boy and a Southern Fried Chicken sandwich along with a cappucino. Totally loved the Poh Boy but the portion was very less. I wished at every bite that there should have been more.. My wife loved her sandwich as well. The coffee was outstanding as well. All in all a good cafe to pop into for a taste of the Americas. They have a decent bar as well..

Good food, poor service. The food tasts great. He the tacos a couple times. Love the home made condiments, especially the really spicy one, can't have enought.
Service however is average and what's the deal with the menus changing all the time. I came in one day craving some tacos and they told me they only do it on certain days on certain times. WTF...same goes for other parts of the menu. Seems like they only serve what they feel like serving not what the customer want.

Brilliant service. Great food. Been for breakfast and dinner and will keep going back. The fried chicken corn bread and gumbo with coleslaw was amazing. As is the truffle mac and cheese. What won me over though is the service. There is one guy who I don't know his name but recommended the perfect food and wine combos and was passionate about it too! Brilliant. Made the evening. Definitely a must go if you like tacos and southern new Orleans style food
Dan
Recommended. We've been here for breakfast and for dinner.
Excellent drinks both visits - coffee and cocktails are great, and the food is exceptional (with great variety) right throughout the day.
Housemade condiments are a terrific addition, as are the seasonal specials (we had braised beef cheeks... divine).
Doing a great job in a busy area of Bondi Rd... keep it up guys.
Tom
Awesome. Went there for breakfast yesterday. Coffee, was the best i had in years. We then had corn fritter & Breakfast taco with a bunch of sides....sooo yummy! We stuck around ha a few Panama Marys etc, the service was great the whole time. All in all. Great time and great value. these guys know what they are doing
Nat Caristo
Great food and wine. Portions were very generous. Definitely coming back here.

Ate here on Friday night and loved it. The service was great - both waitress and bartender were really attentive and helpful. My friend and I had the cerviche, the truffled mac n cheese, the seared tuna taco (special), and the pulled pork po boy, as well as some oysters for the entree. We then had banoffee brûlée for dessert. Everything was delicious.
Sarah
Complete avoid- overpriced for what it is. Service horrible!
Owen
Do yourself a favour and don't go! Staff seem more interested in hanging ten than serving and when you get the bill for two cocktails (that we waited for ten minutes were made totally incorect and by a poor guy just sitting in the bar because the person behind the bar had no clue) and a piece of cake the doosh proclaims that because of your terrible experience we have given you a 25% discount. Yet the bill still comes to $36 it's obvious they have no clue.

Total Service Fail!. We passed by Panama House earlier in the day and saw people outside eating delicious looking burgers and decided we'd head along later. It was a Sunday evening and we had a plane to catch at about 9pm. We sat down outside at about 6:15pm and ordered food & drinks about 10 minutes later. Well almost, one member of the party was completely overlooked when it came to ordering drinks. Next time we saw the waitress he reminded her he'd like a drink...still it never arrived and he had to ask a 3rd time! Meanwhile...we waited for our meals...now it was a relatively straightforward order...5 x Panama burgers...that's all! Well, we waited, and waited, and waited and....In all that time none of the wait staff were proactive enough to think, those guys that ordered 45 mins ago don't seem to have received any meals. Eventually one of our party went inside to ask...and it seemed our order had disappeared. We were given some corn chips & apologies. Finally about ONE HOUR after ordering some food started to hit the table. Clearly the kitchen had felt the pressure....5 x identical burgers plus the 3 rows of 3 chunky chips stacked on top of each other on each plate...well almost, one of the group only got 2 rows of 3! Another diner lost half their chips on the pavement when the meal was slammed down on the table...despite that being acknowledged, there was no replacement for the lost chips. I actually liked the burger but the other 4 were unimpressed. They offered us free dessert which of course we didn't have time to eat...in the end they deleted 2 of the burgers from the bill. Sure we were compensated, but the service was very, very poor!

Great food, good service. Thank god I stumbled across this place! I am sucker for comfort food and originally reign from BRisbane where American food can only be bought at Maccas. Panama House has a menu that is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.

I started with the pulled pork pull boy sandwich, tender shredded pork on a soft sesame bun that melts in your mouth - perfection. The mains were great and took me back to my US travels enjoying crispy fried chicken, juicy hanger steaks, onion rings and corn bread.

Next time I think I will stick to sharing a few small plates with friends so I can get a taste of more things. The fish tacos my friend ordered gave me a severe case of food envy. My friends tell me the teething problems that existed after opening have been ironed out. Waitress forgot one drink order of many but was very apologetic and everything else was so good we didn't really care.

If this is what Panama is like, I need to book myself a ticket!

I used to love Panama house when it first opened! Service was great and food amazing! I now see what is triggering the bad reviews. Service FAIL

Efficient & Delicious. Checked this place out as my friends have been raving about it. We live on the North Side but the drive was totally worth it!! Service & food were both outstanding. The place had a good buzz about it. Really looking forward to returning.

Awesome. Went in Sat night, it was packed once we arrived, and we waited at the door for a few minutes. Once the waiter arrived, he promptly told us of a 30 -45 mins wait, was not ideal, but we had been looking forward to this place, so we opted to have a drink up the road. We were called after 25 mins, had a table waiting and thats when the night took off. We had some great cocktails...shooters and the food.... was great, all of it!!
The waiters were busy, but very efficient ( contrary to other reviews ) and we were never left wanting.
Oh, yes....best desert i have ever had. banoffee Brulee. I consider this place a must try

Amazing waitress not on tonight. Went in for dinner last night... SERVICE FAIL!!
Had dinner with a couple of mates a few Saturdays ago, our waitress was always smiling, very friendly and gave great service (to say the least). We were pumped to head back in for dinner last night and left with a sour taste All we got was rudeness and zero personality. The drinks were always empty, and took forever to arrive. received food we never ordered, and then charged for it on the bill, the cheek. You guys should have a sign on your door 'amazing waitress not in tonight come back tomorrow'

Very disappointing. The menu looks good, the decor looks good but the food and staff are very poor. The waitress apologised for what she described as 'numerous stuff ups' (we had to re-order, one meal arrived after all the others were finished, drinks didn't show...) but still presented the full bill !
Avoid.

Pretty damn good. On recognisance to Bondi to find my new abode, I was recommended this place by another restaurant that was fully booked on a Saturday night. Gotta love industry recommendations! Solo again, I sat at the bar, ordered a beer from the "surprise" list and wrapped my laughing gear around a few freshly shucked oysters. Good start! Onto the wine list next - which the staff were happy to offer a tasting to assist my Libran deliberation - and a flavour-packed atypical (served in a little lidded hot pot) stew from the specials board, with a side of grilled corn, and washed down with a few smooth Syrah/Malbecs. Casual, bubbly staff happy to have a chat and recommend the next venue for a tipple. The cool/relaxed atmosphere rewards the fit out. Enjoy.

Sad end to an amazing night. Undecided if I'll go back. Contrary to the other reviews I found the service great, it was super busy but we were accommodated well even though our group grew from 4 to 8 and we didn't have a booking. We were seated at the same time as 3 other tables so understandable so the food was a little slow to come out. I was actually amazing she remembered our order without writing it down considering there were 8 of us. The food was superb, I highly recommend the burger, ribs & truffle mac and cheese. The disappointment was when a couple of us stayed for a drink at sat at the bar only to receive total arrogance and attitude - we couldn't wait to get out.
If I do go back, it'll be for table service only.

Same issues as the other reviewers had - very promising place but rude and disorganised staff.

Great food, great potential. Just need to work on staffing - incorrect orders, confusion and delays with ordering and food delivery.

No warmth. Full of promise and busy enough. But unfortunately, there's no great vibe here, largely due to the staff being so deadpan and lacking any genuine warmth or heart. They seem to be trying a bit harder now but natural friendliness just clearly isn't their thing.
