Review The One That Got Away - Bondi

The flavours and marinates are great and chips cooked well. The battered oysters were perfect however the grilled fish seemed overcooked.

The fish was pink and uncooked don't order from here, it was delivered at 8.10pm, they close at 8pm, perhaps they were in a rush to close and thought "Oh that will be cooked enough here you go" . Not good enough, don't accept orders if you are not going to cook the fish properly in a rush to close the shop. Very bad service and I am a Bondi Local.

I have been here multiple times and thought the fish was fresh at first, but a closer smell at the crab, fish and seafood once it was cooked revealed a tragic truth. The smell of chlorine permeated my nose and another persons as well to confirm it. Once the seafood was cooked and a closer inspection showed it had been washed in bleach. This happened to me twice. Once before was with blue swimmer crab, I thought to give them another go but won't ever be back again!! Horrible experience led to a stomach ache 😔

Great range of fish freshly cooked. Price of fish is high compared with the first market. Very nicely cooked and fresh

The freshest seafood! Owner is a champion and always recommends such amazing dishes and sauces. Always get the sashimi and prawns. Yum

We had the hoki and chips. Unfortunately the chips were dry and tasteless. At $5 For chips I would not recommend the combo. Stick to the fish by itself

We have been getting our fish and chips here for years. It's always been good. It just keeps getting better too. They have just changed their chips to hand cut. good choice. The fish burgers are great too. Keep up the good work.

Buyer beware. Bought 400g prawns but got 250g and paid for 150 grams of ice. Should really report to fair trading…

Great selection of seafood - I always get my cooked prawns from here. I've been going here for years but the staff are friendly and helpful - great customer service.

I've only ever had the fish and chips here which were mediocre - I wouldn't recommend. Something you'd find at most local fish and chip shops - chips are not crispy more on the soggy side and the different sizes makes it difficult to cook it all well so some are undercooked. The fish is nicely deep fried and flaky - they also have salad options to pick from!

Points go for the seafood 💪

We visited this restaurant as it was recommended to us by one of the locals. Its got an interesting name and we decide to visit it one evening after our trip to Bondi Beach. We walked to the restaurant from Bondi to further build up our appetite.

On arrival the restaurant looks like a wholesale shop selling fresh seafood with the front window offering a view of fresh seafood that beckons you to come in for a visit. As you enter the restaurant there is a long cooling display unit with an assortment of seafood on our side and some limited seating on the opposite side.

We were welcomed by the friendly staff who explained how the restaurant works. Most of the seafood has price tags of each item by the kg. One has to just choose the type of seafood, quantity in grams and they way you want it cooked. Then sit back and relax while you wait for your food to arrive. I would recommend eating in so you can taste it nice and piping hot once its prepared and always order more items as you go along.

There is many items to choose from and options of raw seafood (sahshimi) and oysters to cooked seafood (including some items which have been marinated) to some choice of salads.

We ordered 2 different set of oysters and it is reasonably priced with each set coming with a dozen oysters. Oysters tasted really fresh and creamy.

We then moved on to try a host of different fish each with its own marinate including sword fish an salmon. All the dishes were well marinated, tasted fresh and flavorful. Each item was grilled just right. We then added some prawns which were equally good as well. The marinates have a Asian flavor with mixture of spicy and sweet flavors.

I would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Sydney and looking for some really good seafood and having a good time without burning a hold in your pocket.
