Sir And Mlady Dine Out

Yum cha has become a bit of a go to for us lately. we’ve always liked it, a lot, but nowadays it seems we are gravitating towards it more often than usual. We do love the variety it offers. We still know people who have never tried it too! If you haven’t - well, you should. Trolleys of entree sized servings of different dishes come around and you simply take al ook and say what you want. If that trolley doesn’t grab you, don’t stress. Another will be along shortly with more choices. Zilver has a good selection and the trolleys come around very regularly.
Situated conveniently inside Westfield Bondi Junction, Zilver is a contemporary Chinese restaurant to enjoy a nice lazy weekend yum cha feast. Most of the usual dumplings and other delights were available the trolleys which was pleasing. They also feature some adorable, cute dessert buns as well which were fun to try. I loved the salted egg yolk bun but the taro pearl one - the pearls were a bit too hard inside. Overall, a good dining experience.

Amazing Chinese delicacies ! 💥✨
Love the peking duck, shredded beef, crispy pork belly, and they have amazing dimsums.
Food comes around 10-20 mins.
Located in Westfield Bondi Junction in their restaurant precinct on the upper floor. Service can be direct but good nonetheless.
Started off with some steamed dumplings. Mix of vegetarian, seafood, and pork. Some were better than others. We had duck three ways which was served as a Peking Duck then as a Duck San Choy Bau then the remainder just as itself. It was all very tasty. We then got the Shantung Chicken With Pineapple (first time I’ve ever seen it served with pineapple) and also Fried Rice. There was more than enough food between us (large doggy bag required and they charge for containers for takeaway). Finished off with some steamed ‘Green Monster’ sesame buns. They were fun and quite tasty.
Overall the food is quite nice and a good dining option if you’re shopping or watching a movie within the area.
Seek for good yumcha in Sydney?!?!!!
Highly recommend come to try at Zilver Bondi then you would forget any other yumcha that you try in Sydney
Very good and tasty !!

Bursting back into Zilver Bondi three years after my last visit – yeah, okay, I don’t like shopping centres very much – it was exciting to see that this modern Chinese restaurant has continued to develop. The beautifully illustrated menu gives you an easy way to visualise dishes; and on this visit, by virtue of dining with a large and disparate group, I got to cover a lot of ground on it. We began our meal with a flood of dumplings, with most of the table descending into a frenzy of Piggy Steamed BBQ Pork Bun ($11.80/2) squeezing poses to increase their Instagram cache. Turns out cutest isn’t always best, with the ugly dumpling – a black-flecked, transparent and gelatinous Truffle King Prawn Dumpling ($9.50/4) – easily winning on flavour. While my Insta-famous table mates were busy filming stories featuring themselves seductively biting the heads off Swan Scallop and Taro Puffs ($12.80/3), I took a large bite out of a fried Hedgehog Bun ($7.80/2) only to be surprised with a sweet chocolate and red bean centre. Rookie mistake! While Zilver Bondi's lunchtime yum cha does come around on carts, there is...
In all honesty I'm usually a bit cynical of suburban yum cha offerings, preferring instead to go to Chinatown for "the real deal", but being a Bondi local (at the time) and wanting a quick fix, I decided to check this place out and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes. The har gows were jumbo-sized as were the prawns in the rice noodle rolls. Price was reasonable and service was good; looking forward to my next visit.
Love yum cha at Zilver because of their creative & cute dim sum. Not just the look, they also taste delicious. There are so many varieties to choose from, would love to go back to try them all. Every dish we ordered was tasty, they were fresh & good portions. Hollow Jian dui is a must, crispy yet chewy, it’s a delicious sesame seed coated hollow donut. 😋 Salt & pepper King prawns & Chicken feet are also recommended. 👍🏻
The service was rushed and lacking - not terrible but the one in the city is definitely best. Food was fine but also very expensive for what it is
Just magnificent yum cha in Shopping Centre setting. Light on MSG, fresh and hot and super tasty. Good ambience, old Chinese biddy's serving up the grub and promptly served Tsing Taos. Whoever Zilver is they should be bloody proud 👅
Zilver is a modern Chinese restaurant chain that has stores in both the Sydney city and Bondi Junction. Their cuisine features the best of Chinese food, the traditional classics that have been passed from generation to generation, as well as more modern fusion dishes and ingredients. We visited the Bondi store for yum cha for lunch, keen for a dumpling and steamed bun feast! This blog post will review 10 of my favourite dishes from the meal.
I am always a big fan of yum cha, no matter where and what time of the day.
I do believe good food it need to be able to eat any time!
So I went to silver this afternoon after movie, just right bellow the cinema at Bondi Westfield.
It used to be Kam Fook reataurant, if I remember correctly.
The did awesome transformation to make this Chinese reataurant looks more elegant.
Mind you, that the food also not coming cheap!
However, in my personal opinion, if you are a big fan, I don't think you should put price tag on the food you loves.
Waiter offered me tea, which I don't mind for rainy weather like today.
Since I was lived in China for some years, ( and also have Chinese blood in me), I do know some rules regarding "tea manner" on dinning table.
So the pointy neck from your tea pot shouldn't be facing you or the guess on the table, old Chinese say it is hoping for some bad thing to happen for the person that "pointed" with it.
I was but shock that they didn't notice this thing, as I'm not 'gweilo' I'm expecting they know this tea manner thing.
Well, soup coming with $8.80 price tag, I know.... So Chinese, right! 8 represent a good number in Chinese myth.
Tasting platter not so bad, all came in good flavour, the only thing is ( again, my personal opinion) need to steam a little longer, a minute I supposed, because I still can fill the rawness of skin that wrapping those dumpling.
But hey.. I did enjoyed the food!
It located at Bondi Westfield Shopping Centre, the closest Chinese Yum Cha from my place, serves great food. And I have to say it's more clean and tidy then most of the Chinese restaurants in Chinatown
Spontaneous lunch at Bondi Junction lead us here. Was surprised there was no line but pleased we could walk right in. We were seated immediately and offered tea. The food then started coming. Dumplings were hot and delicious. The garlic and prawn one was yum with chunky bits of prawn. Chinese broccoli was good as was salt and pepper squid. We noticed another table eating crab. We got food envy so ordered the same. It came out after 20min piping hot done salt and pepper style. The crab was delicious but a little fiddly to eat. Love getting messy with crab but this one particularly was difficult to eat.
Anywho, enjoyed it here. Glad we came and decided here instead of the food court. Will revisit.
crispy and yummy!!! 😍🦆// SWAN SCALLOPS & TARO PIE // also on the table: HK egg tarts, Siomay, Fried Dumplings, BBQ Pork Buns... 😋👍🏼 ⋅▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️⋅⋅

I walked pass it without realising it's a Chinese restaurant, it is a fancy, modern Asian fusion restaurant. Maybe that is why it mainly attracting Western people or none Chinese customers.
The menu looks pretty traditional Chinese, major in fresh seafood dishes. However, the menu was way too big, oversize to the point that two menus together can't fit in one 2-people table 😅😅
Food was pretty tasty, good food presentation, i enjoyed every bit of it. Although food was pretty expensive... as expected.
Good customer service, felt like we had a one on one waiter service, maybe it wasn't busy at the time?!
My wife's friends were visiting from Germany for this Christmas holiday period, and they were craving Peking Duck, as apparently its virtually impossible to get it over in the town they live in over there. They found a Groupon for a set menu banquet with the prime feature of Peking Duck. The Groupon ticket was a $28/per person cost, and had Peking Duck (Pancake, 3x per person, 1x San choi bao), Dim Sims (Prawn, Sui Mai, Spinach and prawn), Fried rice (with chopped up duck in it), the remainder of the duck, and a desert. The set menu also included a glass of wine.
We substituted the wine for tea, and instead of the set menu desert (not even sure what it was meant to be), we subbed that out also for mango pancakes instead from their yum cha carts.
The food was not bad. The peking duck was crispy, pancakes thin, good crunch on the cucumber, though the hoisin sauce was a touch on the salty side. The san choi bao was a little bland, it smelt better than it tasted with the wonderful fragrance of preserved bamboo. The dim sims were fairly standard, as you would expect from yum cha service. The fried rice was a touch on the dry side, and could have had a bit better seasoning in salt and pepper. The remainder of the duck was pretty good, and came with a plum sauce. The mango pancakes were relatively fresh, the pancakes soft and pliable, the cream cool, and not too over-ripened mango piece inside.
Service was a bit of a mixed bag. We had reasonably good care from on person who seemed to be a head-wait staff, but other people kept coming over and doubling up on the action. One of them actually got told off by the head waitperson looking after our table! It wasn't really something you should do infront of customers. In addition to this, whenever we wanted something extra from the set menu, we were reminded constantly that we had to pay for it.... One of our table had a beer, bottle, tsingdao beer, and it was $9! Steep.
The crockery was also a bit worn, my tea cup had chips in the lip of it, and the tea pot on the table also had chips broken off the spout. If you've read my other reviews, you'll know that broken ceramics is a big no-no for me.
At the end of the day, 3.5 is the score I gave due to the quality of the peking duck, and that they were willing to sub items on the menu being flexible. It wasn't a higher score due to the service squabbling and poor communications, plus the chipped ceramics.
Would I go again? Possibly, though more likely to go to try the yum cha, as a peking duck full course (2 ways) is $72, which, wow, you could probably get a lot cheaper elsewhere and it probably would be just as good, like in Bankstown or Cabramatta etc.
Excellent good and service. Duck tastes professional. Staff are friendly. Don't hesitate to treat your stomach well there. Amazing place for party.
For our table of five we choose a 2.008 kg Salt and Pepper Lobster ($477.90, $238/kg). They've done us proud here and we're happy. The 2014 Rock Bare The Clare Riesling ($40) seems to have been a good choice to enjoy with the lobster with some nice buttery notes and not being overly sweet. Steamed oysters with soy sauce, ginger, shallots ($8.50 each) are huge. Maybe a little too large as they're bigger than a mouthful to try and eat but flavours were good. We've had the Peking Style Shredded Beef ($24.80) here before and happy again with it. Nice amount of crispy batter without being to thick and a tasty sauce. Stir fried scallops and vegetables with xo sauce ($42.80) have plump scallops in a tasty sauce that goes well with the Zilver special fried rice with crab meat, fried scallop, crab roe and egg ($24.80). We had to get nicely made Steamed BBQ Pork Buns ($8) for the Mrs as this is one of her favourite yum cha dishes. Fruit platter ($18) ended up being served complimentary and we had to get a Deep fried ice cream with caramel sauce ($9.80) for some nostalgic dining.
Since Zilver took over they have really brought the China Town yum Cha experience to Bondi Junction. My 3 legendary friends and myself can honestly say this is the best yum Cha we have had. Quality of food, service and the chilli sauce was next level. It was a great way to spend a rainy Saturday. Thanks Zilver
We'd been meaning to check this place out as soon as it went in at Bondi Junction. We were able grab some dinner before a movie at the cinema and ordered the prawn dumplings, fried rice, prawns and snow peas, and hot and sour soup.
The dumping, main dish, and fried rice were very good and came out extremely quickly. The service was also excellent.
I do not recommend the hot and sour soup, though. It was neither hot nor sour which is too bad because I love hot and hour soup.
Came here for dinner , really enjoyed their food. My favourite was the stir fried lobster ginger and shallots with e-fu noodles, seafood was good nicely. However service was a let down, maybe something they need to work on.
Zilver is the latest yum cha incarnation at Westfield Bondi Junction. We were a group of 9 Westerners so our choices were not pushing any envelopes. The yum Cha selection was quite good, with well made dumplings and greens. The service varied greatly by wait staff - the younger waiter clearly wasn't interested but his older colleague was much better. All up a pretty good yum Cha and an improvement on the previous mob.
My family came here for an early dinner to celebrate CNY and initially we were left waiting in the queue for ages even though the restaurant was basically empty and there was a lot of staff walking around.
Once we were seated, the staff did look after us as my MIL arrived and as she is a regular they looked after us. We ordered their crispy pork belly, scallops with XO sauce, beef with wasabi and vegetables with garlic. We were also surprised at how reasonable the wine prices were.
I would like to come back here to try their yum cha.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy Zilver quite as much as I did. The staff was excellent, very friendly, overly attentive and really accommodating to the kids in the group. The food was delicious and plentiful. We dined on the $45 seafood experience which included giant scallops, juicy prawns and perfectly cooked white bait. I'd definitely recommend Zilver for an intimate or larger gathering.
I absolutely love the yum cha at Zilver Chinatown - with more than 10x visits for so many different occasions.. when I heard that Zilver opened up at Westfield Bondi, I was so ecstatic as it's closer to home, which means less of a hassle to get to, and also weekend yum cha instead of in-between work yum cha! Woohoo!
Being here twice already, their menu tastes exactly the same as Zilver Chinatown, the hierarchical service is completely the same too - just the location and room atmosphere is different- a lot more natural lighting at the Bondi Zilver with its big glass windows.. So I actually prefer this one because of the room & location.
There's also one lady who served our table with yum cha options, she is super friendly and really has the best service - most of them are the typical shove-the-plate-on-your-table-and-make-you-pay-for-it ladies, but this one is really nice and always has a big smile on her face. Good service really makes a difference!
The food is great - ahhh and it's very drool-worthy, I don't find the yum cha too expensive as it's all very delicious all the time, compared to other yum cha restaurants I've tried in Sydney.. I always end a Zilver yum cha with their delicious mango puddings (with extra milk!), my meal is never complete without it now at Zilver.
Looking forward to the next return!!!
Had a good meal here. We had the roast duck, as pancakes and then San chow bow. Also had the Peking shredded beef.
The food was good but expensive. Also the service was a little lacklustre. Took awhile for them to take an order, and then the food came out of order as well. Even had to wait for rice.
A bit on the pricier side for yumcha but well worth it! We went at around 1pm on a Sunday and didn't have to wait.
🌟 What we ordered:
King prawn dumplings
Taro pies with minced chicken
Steamed pork rib
Chicken feet
BBQ pork pies
Prawn & chives dumplings
Egg tarts
I definitely recommend the taro pies (they were the best I've had in sydney!) and the BBQ pork pies. The prawn dumplings had the biggest, juciest pieces of prawn so I defs recommend :)
Delicious food, a bit pricey when you have to pay $20 extra for vermicelli noodles on top of pippies. Peking duck was perfect, really enjoyed that. The yum cha is good quality.
Quality is ok to good, pricey for what it is, the service is all over the place and the pork not much flavour, the duck was tasteless and the chicken even worst. They bring you the rice first and then the meats 20 minutes later, not on guys, you need to learn to at least bring two dishes together, what you see in the picture for lunch no wine just bear over $150, pricey.
