Review Gabby's Cafe - Bondi

After our walk between Bronte beach and Bondi beach (2.5 km) we were welcomed at Gabbys cafe for lunch. We were interested by their menu because they proposed food our kids were ok to eat (you know how difficult it can be). And I must say we were not disappointed. The food was tasty and the kids ate it all which is to me a good indicator of the tastiness. Pay attention to the size of the dish which in some cases can be shared. The service was as expected.

Great Eggs Benny , and Mixed Berry smoothie. Friendly staff. Good area , but not good views today.

Terrible place, highly recommend to avoid it by all means! The waitress was very rude, she scratched my friend with her long nails when getting menus from our table and hit my chair several times without any apologies. When asked to bring some water, she suggested we go and get it ourselves. We ordered pancakes and gozleme. There were just few people, but we had to wait for 25 min for the pancakes to arrive. They were awful - chewy and not fluffy at all, tasted like they were made from a cheap pancake mix. We waited for 40 minutes for the gozleme, asking staff what took so long to bring the order. The only thing we heard from them was "I guess it will be soon". We didn't get our gozleme in 50!!! minutes and just left. Really, avoid this place - the service is just absent and the food (or at least the pancakes that they managed to cook in 25 min) is of a very low quality!

Do yourself a favour and walk further down the road. This place is only in business because of it's ideal location. The service was terrible, making you wait to order and even longer to even get your drink or food. We waited for almost 30 min for our coffees and it wasn't even busy. In addition, the coffee was rubbish. Another 30 minutes later our food came and it was extremely average. Pancakes taste like ready-made mix and you can get better, for cheaper at McDonald's.

I WOULD NEVER recommend this cafe!! Went there for lunch everyone who ordered after us had a 45 minute wait. We waited over an hour and never got our meals. We went in to speak to the staff asking where are meals are at, they told us ours is up next and we waited another 15 minutes. We then decided to go in and tell them we won't be having our meals and we explained our experience. They then began to speak in a different language and began arguing, their answer back was they are busy and they lose their meal dockets regularly, the owner added "this makes me very mad at my staff." We didn't get offered anything, had to pay for our coffees, we didn't even receive a sorry. A couple behind us who was paying for the order was also complaining on the service and didn't enjoy their experience. I do not recommend this cafe and we will NOT be going back

Don’t bother coming here. Unfriendly staff - we asked to change our order before the waitress had left us and she said it wasn’t possible because it would put her behind. Terrible (cold) food that took over 45 minutes to arrive. My Eggs Benedict arrived without hollandaise sauce and when I asked about it, it was a major inconvenience for them to drizzle the cold, bottled, sauce over my food and bring it back. Every table around us was complaining about something and being answered with a sour face and a half hearted solution.

Its great food but home delivery a let down, after 2 good deliveries the 3rd had no dipping saurce for fries and they left out my supreme pizza! That was $ 22.50!, When i googled number, was told wrong number and hung up on😕 ended up having to make a complaint to uber eats on line

I haven’t even been able to rate my food, as I am on a one hour wait time for my breakfast, when it is NOT busy. I now understand why this cafe was nearly empty on a Sunday. KEEP WALKING. I have worked in hospitality and this is absolutely unacceptable. You can do so much better. Utterly disappointed.

Too slow. Full of excuses. They claim they ran out of napkins as they are open from 6am. <br/>Tab water tasted disgusting. <br/>Too much of attitude and complete lack of service!!!<br/>Pizza was your average kebab shop one. But too small and expensive!!! <br/>Then magically napkins appeared as we were about to leave. <br/>What a shame!!!

Warm & friendly cafe with fantastic service. Food is very tasty & reasonably priced. They even had protein balls for my health conscious son. Will be coming back again<br/>

BEST GOZLEME I’VE EVER HAD 😊😊😊 had it filled with spinach, mushrooms and cheese! Was so nice for bfast :) also had a dirty chai with some pretty amazing cinnamon/spice/chai mix!! Yummmm<br/>Staff were extremely friendly and made it a pleasant experience! <br/>A bit of a long wait time for food but was happy to chat :)

Worst food I've had in my life, cold, cafe full of excuses, there were three other occupants and meals still took over an hour. Wish we had checked reviews before wasting money here. Food was way over priced for the quality :( wouldn't even trust them to butter toast.

***ing disgraceful ! !! What to say about that place, I've rated one star but it doesn't even deserve it !!! Worst cafe I ever eaten with my wife ! Service was not great , rude , impolite,.. we waited 25 minutes.. brought the wrong plate. bruschetta was not even bigger than my hand. After seeing the plate we canceled our food , came to till and we still had to pay forrhe food we didn't end up getting. She even threaten us by saying we call the POLICE ! decided to still get the plate my wife got little bit of everything and was still hungry and we paid almost $45 for tiny food ! Should be closed or bankrupt that place DISGRACE !!!

Came with a group of six. Not one person was satisfied. Eggs were terrible. One friend ordered pancakes, looked as if they were made out of a packet mix. Do not recommend at all. Would recommend McDonalds over this place.

Busy City2Surf post run, we spotted a table, asked if we could take it, one of the staff passing by nods so we sit... and waited... and waited some more. Only one person taking orders by the looks and staff frantic. We expected delayed service.. but after 15 minutes, having to get our own menu's, grab one of the staff's attention passing by to ask someone to please take our order when they can.. and then we wait some more. <br/><br/>So after a really long wait, we got up and left. <br/><br/>Seems to be a common thing with the reviews for this cafe.<br/><br/>This place is chaos. Went up the road to Bondi Trattoria, immediately greeted, seated, water on table, order taken in under 10 minutes. Happily spent $90 on a breakfast. We will remember Gabby's and wont go back there. <br/><br/>Go there if you don't mind being ignored and forgotten about.

The location is decent with a good view. However, the food does not do justice to the price. I ordered their Brekky special.The scrambled egg had absolutely no seasoning and the quantity of bacon was a joke in itself.<br/><br/>

Beware of this place. Coffee came out spilled all over the cup and dish, the waitress said she would clean it up however it was brought back minutes later looking much the same. Coffee was cold and bad. My partner and i both ordered the "Famous Breaky Special". It looked as though one rasher of bacon had been used for both our meals and cut into quarters on small pieces of toast and poached eggs that more resembled hard boiled eggs. After drawing this to the attention of the waitress she brought us over some more bacon. I felt bad for the waitress as she was obviously trying her best at the command of a useless kitchen and owner. A service fee will also be charged. Will not be returning. Very very insulted by the actions of the staff and then the owner of the business we got kicked out of the restaurant after sitting down because we only ordered 3 coffees.The owner said his very busy and he was only going to serve us coffee if we ordered food .This place is a supposed to be a cafe I don't understand.Would never ever go here again .

Ate there out of necessity as every cafe in Bondi was full thanks to Sculpture by the Sea.<br/><br/>Very basic fare but what do you expect for $12 for bacon and eggs. However food was ok. I know that the portion was good however in a time when we get masses of food on our plates - it all seemed a bit... underwhelming.<br/><br/>Biggest gripe - coffee was late and so f**king hot that I burnt the roof of my mouth. <br/><br/>Won't be back.

I came here a lot while at Bondi. The food was great, no matter what we ordered. The staff were awesome and remembered what we liked (latte refills, etc) and always remembered my substitute for meat. The view is amazing, and you can see the ocean whether you sit inside or outside in their tent-like covered<br/> patio.

My girlfriend and I ordered 'The Lot' and 'Pancakes' and they were OK. Not the best but not bad. The ambience is great with the view of Bondi beach.

There were plenty of bad reviews for Gabby's but decided to try it nonetheless. <br/><br/>The service was ok. The guy standing outside playing on his phone while waiting for someone to walk in. He was friendly enough but didn't seem to really want to be there. <br/><br/>I ordered the vegetarian breakfast which was somewhere between ok and good. Pretty basic in presentation and substance. I'm pretty sure the hash brown was straight out of a packet. The eggs had zero seasoning but I did like the big avocado serving. <br/><br/>I had low expectations for the quality of the coffee and those expectations were easily met. <br/><br/>Oh and they charge $1 extra to pay with credit card

We popped into Gabby's for breakfast on a quiet Sunday morning. Great location and friendly staff. The menu is basic and absolutely no extras are included. The food lacked seasoning however, it was kind of nice to go back to the basics. There are so many great places for breakfast in Bondi, so I think Gabby's needs to step up their game to compete.

Worst meal ever. Not sure why they receive FIVE star ratings in the TripAdvisor. Went there on the long Easter wkend, Saturday. My son ordered vanilla milkshake and he refused to have second sip because it tasted awful. His pancake looked pale & not appealing. My partner ordered The Lot, again it was lack of taste. I believe they only cooked One egg because the scramble egg looked so tiny. The mushroom tasted like sand and they also used mix herbs as seasoning. Then the Italian owner, a middle age man stopped a waitress who was taking the order from us and asked her to only do cleaning. I felt sorry for her, he didn't even apologize to us for interrupting. That's so rude! I wish I could put a sign near there saying 'Go eat elsewhere'. Good luck for those who havent read the review and enjoy the yummiest food on earth.

Worst. Place. Ever. If you think 2 slices of homebrand bread and 2 eggs is worth $15 than this is it. Took 30 mins for them to bring out something as simple as eggs and toast, and on top of that they still stuff up the order. And a small bowl of fruit was 13.50! AND they charge a service fee... just dont come here.

I went to this cafe today with a few friends looking for a quick feed after swimming at Bondi beach. It was nearly full, so we thought it may have been a popular and nice place to eat out, however we were unaware of how wrong we were. The images displayed at the front counter show large servings indicating good value for money. The waitresses said the main meals were 'guarenteed' to fill us up. In reality, this was not the case. I had ordered a steak sandwich with salad and chips. The steak in the sandwich was tough and chewy, there were only about 10 chips on the plate, and the 'side salad' which would 'accompany' the meal (as stated by the menu), was a random handful of lettuce leaves and a few small square pieces of onion without any dressing. My friends ordered pancakes, which were 'too doughy', a chicken burger, where the chicken was raw and a replacement had to be issued, and yogurt and meusli which gave my friend a minor amount of food poisoning. The waitresses were hardly hospitable, and did not care to assist us while dining in. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this cafe, and was not surprised to learn that Waverley Council has has prosecuted the owner for three offences under the Food Act 2004, and ordered to pay $15,500 in fines and costs by the Downing Centre Local Court. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Even Maccas would have been a better option to go with for lunch.

We unfortunately stumbled across this cafe whilst hungry. As we arrived, one staff member was clearing a table whilst the staff member seating us took us to that table. He picked up a used serviette from the ground which we thought he was going to dispose of. Instead, he quickly 'wiped the table down' with that used serviette from the ground. After being utterly disgusted by his hygiene standards, I called him over and asked for my table to be properly wiped down from the people before us. To my horror, he used the same serviette but just did a more thorough wipe down of the whole table. This ordeal was only further amplified by the stench lingering around. Luckily one of the girls working smiled as she brought our food over, otherwise horrifying experience. Sorry but that one staff member just ruined your whole cafe for me

Average food. Scrambled eggs could be better. Had vegetarian breakfast and wasn't satisfied.

Revolting. I tried to go here for some brunch with friends. i ordered pancakes and the woman asked if i would like maple syrup with it, and i said yes so she brings out this bottle... i pour it but it turns out to be chilli sauce (i find it out after pouring).. pancakes ruined, i told them and they made me new ones, however they were all doughy and disgusting. the moment i stood up to pay a pigeon jumped on the table and starts eating my leftovers off the plate.. just disgusting. don't go here.

Not bad.. needs work.... Can't complain about the way the food was cooked - it was delicious... however there was no presentation on the plate. I ordered 'the lot' as a late breakfast - bacon, eggs (cooked how you like), toast, mushrooms and i ordered an extra hashbrown instead of sausage. Everything was kind of just plopped on the plate and tbh didn't look very appealing. However everything was cooked beautifully and tasted great. When I finished eating a waiter brought food to a table in front of me, I was surprised when he returned to the cafe without clearing anything from any of the other tables (not just mine).. So maybe just a couple of nitpicky things that could possibly be improved :p overall a pretty good experience here and I would recommend it :)<br/><br/>P.s - they don't serve baileys even though it's on the menu ;P

Poor service and excessive card fees. Service at this place is very poor. Waitresses were inattentive and we had to ask twice to get our drinks out. I observed 3 tables around us also getting drinks late, after meals had arrived. <br/><br/>Food was okay but ruined by poor staff. Credit card charges were excessive at 2 dollars, regardless of whether using credit, debit or bank card - this is ridiculous and clearly a rort.

Heading to Bondi with an expectation of something tasty for breakfast might seem a reasonable thought. In fact thousands flock there everyday for that extract purpose. It is this fact alone that keeps places like Gabby's open. Tourism is kind like that. Because its nature is transient and establishments such as the afore mentioned Gabby's do not depend on repeat customers. If they did, they would simply go under unless they changed their concept of what they feel is reasonable service and a decent meal. But to be fair to them Gabby's are not on there own. Countless cafe's and eateries are getting away with it. Making good money serving up less than average goop! Please sir, can we have some quality?

Terrible service, overpriced bad quality food. Don't go here, there are much nicer places in bondi, eg vue or bondi hardware.

Very poor standard of food,went for breakfast and ordered big breakfast I honestly could do a better job in my house and would of saved money.located on bondi beach I pity tourists who visit this cafe as it is very poor try paris cafe on hall st excellent cafe :)

Very disgusting restaurant. I understand it's by the beach and you're not supposed to expect much, but even my lowest standards were not met. Don't come here, even Macca ought to have better value.

It's cheap, no frills breakfast. Exactly what we were after!

Delicious. I had the pancakes with icing sugar, maple syrup and cream. Absolutely delicious!!! Sipped a tasty chai latte afterwards.... then ordered another one....<br/>Not the most glamorous of seating, but yummy food nonetheless!

Really great BLT, will definantly come back!
