There's no wonder Forage Food Store offers the best coffee in this area. As a regular customer, Forage Food Store has never let me down. I'm always impressed by their warm and welcoming customer service, also their tasty dishes and innovative menus. Ever since they changed the new chef, the food quality has become even better.
I also noticed recently there are some unreasonable 1 star reviews which were always posted by new accounts, and they are usually repeated fake, evidence-lacking comments been put on both Google and Zomato at same time, which is very weird. I strongly doubt there is someone attacking this shop deliberately. Because I really love this place, I want to stand up for them and wish everyone don't be fooled by some ill-intentioned individuals.
Great food, coffee and service. Warm atmosphere. Perfect place to catch up with friends or family. Homemade cakes are to die for. Food is delicious and not overly expensive.

I've been meaning to write a review of Forage for ages now. I've not eaten there yet, so this is only a review of the coffee. Which is absolutely fantastic! Cannot compliment their standards highly enough. I always order a strong latté and my partner always orders an iced latté (no matter the weather!) Consistently smooth and strong, never bitter and never burnt. This is our go to place for coffees, even if we're heading in the opposite direction for work. The service is always friendly and efficient too.
Give them a try. I promise you won't regret it!
I decided to have the ‘French Toast – banana, strawberries, maple, ginger crumble and double cream ($16.50)’. The golden French toast was smothered in luscious cream which went perfectly with the ginger crumble.

Had a really nice lunch there today: crispy salmon with zucchini, truss tomatoes and crisp broccoli - it was delicious. Service was attentive and the surroundings rustic and clean. Highly recommend this place.
This place is divine. Great decor, lovely service, amazing food. I cannot for the life of me understamd why their rating is only 3.3. On my first visit today I struggled to pick from their delicious sounding menu. Had the egg white omlette and was not disappointed. In fact, one of the yummiest meals i've ever had! Will be back regularly to try everything! Would have rated higher, but their coffee is so-so (almond decaf) and it was a little chilly despite sitting directly under the heater. The food makes up for all though
Service is friendly and generally pretty quick. Coffee is my favourite in all of the eastern suburbs. Food is worth the wait as this cafe is busy most of the time. Love the atmosphere. Very trendy and delicious! Always returning for more 👌🏻
Porridge + soy latte = $20! This place was packed on a Saturday morning but the service was quick and attentive. Coffees were really good. The porridge was YUM and really, really filling!
Brunch here was lovely. Big space with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were attentive, friendly without being in your face and service was fast. Coffee was fine but a bit hot and bitter. There's a nice range of food on offer including all day breakfast and a vegan pizza option I'd love to try next time! The range could be bigger and a bit more inventive, but the price point, execution and speed of what is on offer is fine so it's not problematic. I grabbed the smashed avo and the boy got the club, on both the toast was way too crunchy - a weird criticism but we were both having to really wrestle with our food to eat it. Servings were good sized and tasty, so not a deal breaker. It was also a little cold despite being inside under the heater. It is a Melbourne winter and I get that, but I'd like it to be a bit more accommodating especially for the outside diners and their furry friends. Overall a well needed addition to the area and I'd be happy to go again.
I often come here at about 3pm as it's the one of the only places in the area that's still open and happy to serve coffee til about 3.45. The staff are always friendly and the coffee is decent, although I don't often eat here it's my local go-to place later on in the day.
Food and coffee are always great but the service is always bad. I have to leg tackle staff to take my order and food is slow to arrive. Mother's Day was 1.5 hours to get our food but that's much worse than normal of course.

A modern and trendy café in an area that appears to be devoid of upmarket cafes. I was given a cheerful welcome and prompt attention, with water and a menu provided soon after being seated. The café is on a corner location with a glass facade all around. There are plenty of outside tables under a large awning with a canvass shade. Inside are two large dining areas which are bright and spacious. The décor features a polished concrete floor, and a white colour scheme, with planter boxes and framed artwork on the walls. The table settings are in timber, with minimalist wooden and steel framed chairs. The service counter sports weathered timber panelling, and there is a faux hedge archway into one of the dining spaces. I simply had fruit toast and coffee, both of which were good, but I checked out the menu, which included veggie items such as the big veggie breakfast and smashed avo, and the lunch menu included field mushrooms, ricotta fritters and a vegan pizza! It has a pleasant and relaxing ambience, apart from the screaming infant that was plonked next to my table (why always me?), swamping the light background music. Worth checking out. I’ll be back for the vegan pizza.
First time visit yesterday, and we had a very good experience there. The service was friendly and fast and the coffees were all excellent. My son's nuggets and chips and kid's milkshake were well presented and our scrambled eggs were cooked just right. Will definitely go again when in the area.
So got smashed with avocado this morning n couldn't ask for more Avo,corn,Feta,tomato,and who knows what ... it's was fresh n well presented.

Great cafe. Had the smashed avocado a couple of times - really good. Good serving size, generous serving of avocado, well seasoned, fresh and tasty. Coffee is really good. Service is friendly and quick. Really nice decor. Lovely place.

Last time we dropped by it was under renovation and the kitchen was closed . Today we had a latte ( my husband loves it), a grey deluxe for me , I love the tea when the shops is not stingy about the tea leafs and milk. A ham & cheese croissant (a bit dry but acceptable) , my husband ordered a stuffed mushroom which was really good , and I needa say the hummingbird cake I had today was awesome . It's actually quite sweet but it's delicious with a great price. The beverage is definitely above average, and we will definitely come back next time for the home made hush browns. Hurray for a good cafe in this area ! Lol
Coffee is amazing! Delicious muffins. Seating is scarce during "brunch" and afternoons but seating inside and out gives options. The shop can get a bit loud & echoing when they are full, but all the more reason to drown it out with a good conversation.

Came here on a Sunday morning for brunch with my husband. Place was packed but luckily we got a table within a couple of minutes. Wait staff were efficient, gave us a bottle of water without us asking and took our orders promptly. Food came out quickly, but it did come out a few minutes before even receiving our coffee and hot chocolate. The potato Rosti with salmon was nice but serve was a bit small as only 1 poached egg. The big meat breakfast was good but prefer better quality sausage and only got a small piece of hash brown. Coffee was good, strong and good flavour. Wait Staff were overall friendly but guy on the cash register wasn't friendly at all, just grabbed at the money with no smile or eye contact. Not the greatest last impression, but this place is by far the nicest cafe in boronia. Trendy, modern atmosphere, well presented and tasty food. Would recommend to friends and would look forward to coming back again.
We stopped in on a whim one day and I'm so glad we found it. The staff were really friendly, cute artwork, great variety and the food was beautiful! Definitely recommend it!
"WOW" The food is amazing great, the coffee was really good perect temp and strength. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and staff are really friendly and nothing was a problem. My wife and i and two kids really enjoyed our lunch well priced and delicious, i had the pulled pork burger and my wife had the beef burger and they were both great, kids had pancakes and loved them. We will be back again soon.
Enjoyed our first visit for breakfast, food was good, service was good. Disappointed we were charged $1.50 for a baby chino, which was basically a teaspoon worth of froth and a sprinkle of chocolate powder. No milk. Couldn't believe we were charged for that even after spending $60 on breakfast. Should be free.
Seated quickly by a friendly waiter, waited a few minutes for menus and then had to call them over to order coffee. When my (what was meant to be soy) coffee arrived it was absolutely almond milk. As I told the waiter he didn't take me seriously and said the barista said it was soy. I had my mum take a sip and we agreed it was almond milk. I then walked it to the counter, waited for someone to see me and had them remake it. The second coffee (once it arrived) was perfect! I didn't appreciate the waiter not taking it seriously as that mistake could be harmful to those allergic to almonds. The food (potato rosti) was very good. I would still come back but will now always be very cautious to ensure they give me soy.
Definitely one of my go to cafes. Consistently awesome & the smashed avo is always a winner - especially with the pomegranate. Great coffee also, but my order has been stuffed up a few times. Regardless, love it!
Modern industrial design Cafe with a welcoming atmosphere. The menu is really big and has heaps of breakfast favourites. I love when you go to a Cafe and you don't know what to order! Our meals were misplaced but we were met with extremely friendly service and offered complete money back for our meals. I was beyond impressed! The meals flavour was amazing as well! Will return

Morning coffee and breakfast 3 days a week and have only had one day where the wait time was excessive. Now they see us pull up outside and the coffee is waiting for us when we snag the big table at the back.

Forage is a little gem, great coffee ( also for the soy drinkers), lovely feel and always lovely staff, and the food never disappoints, I've been there several times with, my partner, you could now call it our local. We also like to take not only friends as well as family. A great place for breakfast or lunch.
Great food, had the smashed avocado on toast with bacon on the side. Delicious and a generous serving. Coffee was awesome too, which is a big call when you live in Melbourne! Service was very friendly and prompt enough. Ambience was a good vibe with a clean and modern environment. Will recommend!

Have been here twice. It's always packed and on Sundays you might even have to wait for a table. The food is generally good, staff are friendly, coffee is great, restaurant itself is very clean and aesthetically pleasing.
My main gripe is that the wait staff have messed up my order both times I have been. The first time there was no bacon in my beef burger which I had asked for as an extra, so I wasn't charged for one of my coffees. My girlfriend's chicken burger was too full of chicken breast in a double-layer, which made it boring and tasteless. The second time I received poached eggs instead of scrambled, whilst my girlfriend had no egg at all with her smashed avo, so she took my eggs and the waiter quickly returned with some scrambled ones for me and I suppose we got away with a free egg.
Also the wait staff have almost mistakenly given us somebody else's food both times. Small issues but it adds up.
I'm happy to go back, would just like to see the wait staff going to the correct tables and bringing out the food exactly as I ordered it.
Food was really well prepared but the first time we came here it was quite slow on the service. The soy capp was greatly enjoyed with lovely frothed milk. Had the baked eggs and was a little disappointed, seemed like just two poached eggs in some beans with sauce... Didn't seem baked like I expected. Overall though it was a lovely spot and good food
Love this place. Fresh and exiting. Wait times can be Huge during rush periods but it's because it's such an awesome place.

I have been to Forage a number of times now and the food is fabulous! Always using fresh ingredients which you can definitely taste throughout the meal. The service is great, food and drinks don't take long to arrive which is always a positive. I highly recommend the grilled chicken burger for lunch - it's divine.
This is a busy place. It is on the main road so easy to spot. The food is good. It just takes a while to come out and the service is not the most efficient.
Menu - Great menu so many options to choose from that are all nice and healthy!!

Atmosphere - vibrant and great Decor in the cafe!! Very well designed with perfect furniture pieces used throughout!
Food/ Coffee - AMAZING!! Green tea was fantastic loved how it is served in a glass!!! Poached eggs cooked to perfection with yummy sides!! Coffee was lovely also!

Friendly, city style brunch place. Wide variety on menu, however if you want a 'big breaky' style plate, it's a bit expensive as you pay for each item after your basic eggs on toast. A few teething issues, wait staff a little slow at times. And it can be cold during winter, with the door always opening & closing as people come in. ? no heating. Pickiness aside, the meals are great & I've been there several times now. A new favourite local.
Finally got around to trying the lunch menu.
Beef burger with chips. Pretty good. Standard kind of cafe Burger really but no complaints.
Coffee is always good here so that's a plus.
Speed of service was decent for food and coffee coming out. Staff were friendly but not all that attentive, took a while after seating to come and take coffee/drink orders.
Enjoy it here and will continue to return.
Those with sensitive ears may find it a little hard to hear at times. Concrete floors, big windows and not many soft furnishings to absorb sound.
There are a few (two I think) high chairs for those with little kids.
Really good food and nice atmosphere. I've been here twice and both times the food was excellent. We had a few teething hiccups with our orders both times, once the belgium waffles were overcooked and had to be returned, and the next time, a part of the order was missing.
However, staff were apologetic and quick to fix the problems. I feel like the owners and staff are passionate about the restaurant succeeding and I really hope it does. Boronia needs more restaurants like Forage!
I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict, beautifully poached egg on juicy ham with a light, perfectly executed Hollondaise sauce. The baked eggs are also delicious, with the yoghurt adding a richness that offsets the acidity of the tomato.
Will definitely be back!

I really love this little place. The food and coffee are thoroughly enjoyable and we especially appreciated the great kids menu, which offers a good variety of options at reasonable prices for the little ones.
Finally a decent cafe in Boronia! Coffee's decent, food's tasty and atmosphere is great. Only con I can think of is they've chosen form over function for some of the seating and there's maybe not enough space on the outside tables, as well as a couple of inside spots. Definitely going back and hopefully this encourages a few more places to pop up around the area.
Amazing crative chilled place where you can enjoy some GREAT coffee and food! Staff are ever so lovely and rock a groovy apron. Great selection of food for the family and kid friendly meals also. I love this place and would really recommend it a visit!
Forage is new to boronia and brings with it an atmosphere and style not too common in the area. On our first visit the service was great, despite the place being packed to the rafters. The food and coffee was great. Unfortunately when it came time to pay there was seemingly no process - confusion reigned and it was clear they had no idea what our table had actually ordered. Time to invest in an electronic POS & ordering solution then you will be 10/10!

Best BLT ever!. I ordered the BLT on a baguette. It arrived quickly with a decorative string around it (A bit kitsch) but was delicious. Plenty of fillings and real avocado, not that mushed up stuff. Friendly staff and great service. I will go back.

Great new cafe for Boronia!. Really good to see a trendy new cafe in Boronia! Great food - Smashed Avocado with pomegranates was delicious, coffee fantastic. My daughter had the Bircher Muesli which she loved. Decor, atmosphere and friendly staff a winner. Definitely be coming back.
Finally a decent place to have breakfast in Boronia! It feels like an inner city cafe. The food was delicious and all the staff we're really friendly. I think this will be our new regular for breakfast.
I recently stopped at Forage for breakfast, after a morning swim with my son. It's really big for a cafe, but the service is still very quick and friendly. There's a great menu with options for everyone. It's a really family friendly place, so good for the kiddos. They also seem to do a roaring trade in take away coffee, if you don't have time to sit down
