As part of my neighbourhood’s ongoing effort to support out local and favourite restaurants, we decided to check out Mountain Thai. We all put in an order, and one person went and collected it all. And here’s what I have come to love about this place. Located in the leafy suburbs of Boronia, there is ample of parking around the outside. However, in this time of COVID-19, parking and picking up is your best bet.
Grabbed some takeaway Thai from here last night. I got pad Thai with tofu and veggies and it was really yum! The tofu with satay sauce was good too
A new favourite. Tried by dining in tonight and can't rate it high enough. Small local place but the staff are efficient, the ambience lovely and the food stunning. I'm now trying to find a reason to go back again as soon as possible.
Great food at an affordable price. Beef mussaman with peanut satay roti is my favourite! Very friendly service also. What more could you want.

I recently noticed this Thai restaurant in Alchester Village, and decided I would check it out one evening. On this occasion I opted for takeaway rather than dining in. The decor comprises exposed timber beams and a dark timber lined ceiling. Lantern style lighting is suspended from the ceiling, and the walls are adorned with SE Asian seascape scenes. The table settings consisted of chunky dark timber chairs, and faux walnut tabletops. The restaurant, though, was a little lacking in atmosphere, apart from sounds from the kitchen and the hum of the air conditioner - some suitable Thai background music would enhance the ambience. The menu included fairly standard Thai fare, with vegetarian variants of curries and noodle dishes. I selected vegetable spring rolls, "yum tofu" – a medley of tofu, onion, mushrooms, baby corn, spinach, carrot and capsicum - and “Pud Thai” noodles with vegetables. They were attractive in appearance, and very appetizing. The service was friendly and the takeaway was prepared very promptly. A good standard of fare from this little Thai venue.
Excellent, well presented, friendly, great food! Great range of Thai dishes from soups through entrees, salads to noodles, and good range of drinks to go with meal.
I love this place!! The food tastes so fresh. The sizzling tofu is awesome. I always get mountain Thai cravings. Can't wait to visit again!!

Delicious. The curries here are amazing! Generous servings, beautifully presented food, reasonable prices, polite service. It's always busy, even on weeknights, which says a lot considering it's just a little place in the outer east.
My mate has been to Thailand and he thinks the food here is better.
I come here most weeks, the food is amazing, the staff are awesome and the atmosphere is perfect.
Fabulous food. We had the banquet, it was tasty and filling, yum yum!
Ambience was nice and cozy. We ordered Crying Tiger, Special Menu Garlic Prawn, and Kao Pad. It was perfecto, crying tiger was quite spicy, but still taste very good.
Definitely recommended!
Love this restaurant. Always get takeaway when my friends are around and they rave about it every time. Crying tiger is the best Thai beef salad I've had and the curries taste really authentic. Definately recommend!
Traditional & original Thai. My wife & I are Thai food tragics, we have been to Thai cooking class & make our own pastes & stocks & cook at home.
We have been to most popularly rated Thai restaurants in the area and visited Mountain Thai on the recommendation of friends.
This is without doubt the best Thai food I have ever had, their satay sauce and their curries are sensational and it is obvious everything including the curry pastes & stocks are made fresh on the day.
I would dearly like to get their recipes for their satay and their curries but no such luck.
But thats ok we intend to dine their on a regular basis.
Great Thai Food. We have just had another wonderful dinner at Mountain Thai. The food is fresh, authentic and reasonably priced. All ingredients are great quality and perfectly cooked. We have eaten at many Thai restaurants and the food here is as good as any and half the price. And the young waiter is charming. Highly recommended.
Great Thai. It is fantastic to have such a great Thai restaurant near our home. Saying that I would travel to come here too.
The food is fantastic and the prawn salad is amazing, like a flavor explosion. I don't ever eat salads except for here.
There is a bottleshop across the road in case you want to BYO.
I have been here plenty of times, since it opened and although the service was a bit off at the start they have worked on it and fixed it up.
Best Thai cousine in Melbourne so far!. This place is great. Since I found Mountain Thai, Ive been taking friends and family for dinner. All impressed by quality foods and great atmosphere. My favorite place when having visitors from overseas. Very much so recommended!!

Delicious. Friendly. Simple.. After falling in love with the cuisine in Thailand, we struggled to find traditional Thai food in Melbourne - but this family run business has combined family recipes with friendly service and made something great. We dined at Mountain Thai last night and experienced great service and hot, fresh, delicious dishes from a traditional menu of Thai favourites.
The restaurant is understated and there is a clear pride taken in cleanliness and quality. There is obvious care taken to make every aspect of your dining experience a pleasure.
We'll be back!

Very fragrant and tasty. Ordered the banquet for 4. Lots of filling and wonderfully frangrant fresh flavours. Very quiet sunday evening with prompt friendly service. Very nice that they allowed us to take home what we could not finish. No need to go into CBD for a great Thai meal when you have Mountain Thai so close by. Will definitely go back
This restaurant is delicious! I had never tried Thai before and now I wonder why not! The roti and peanut sauce kick off as a beautul entree followed by some mouth watering mains. Desserts look delish- butt there is never enough room! I'll be back for sure!
Mountain That - Our Most Favourite Thai Restaurant. Mountain Thai is by far our most favourite Thai restaurant. The freshness of the food and the consistency of spices and tastes are fabulous.
Steve and his Family have created a wonderful dining experience with quality friendly service where nothing is too much trouble.
We highly recommend Mountain Thai to anyone wanting extraordinary Thai food in a beautifully crafted environment.

Taste Sensation. I discovered Mountain Thai in January this year,I joined friends for dinner.......WOW what a find and just around the corner from home.
My husband and I have travelled to Thailand many times because we love the food, people and culure of the land of smiles. Do yourself a favour and dine at Mountain Thai, Steve will makeyou very welcome and his lovely wife is an amazing chef. If you love authentic Thai go and try this reasturant, always frsh ingredients and the flavours burst in your mouth......I have and will continue to highly recommend Mountain Thai
Great Thai Food. I love Thai food and you get it from this restaurant. Four dishes and all very good. Friendly service as well, which makes a very pleasant nights dinning.
FANTASTIC. A delightful experience from the minute youre welcomed at the door. A warm atmosphere enhanced with beautiful decor. Great service from friendly staff make you feel like the only diners. Great choice of menu at very reasonable prices. If you love satay, you must try it. Its just awesome.
If you want a quality dining experience, do yourself a favour and experience the delights at mountain Thai.
My husband and I chose this restaurant based on the good reviews (not locals) and we're glad we did. We felt like a nice Thai meal (not satisfied with our local choice) and that's exactly what we got. The manager was very welcoming and friendly but the table service was a bit slow/unattentive. The decor is lovely and prices are very reasonable. Also very handy to have bottleshop across the road for BYO. We'll be back.
Excellent flavour in all three dishes we had: duck curry, beef curry & pud thai. Outstanding value for money.
Mountain Thai is awesome. Myself and my family love Mountain Thai,its the sort of restaurant we love to take friends to,they always come away having had a great thai experience, the staff are very friendly and the food is always a taste sensation, the satay and roti are delicious as all the food is.great job guys and girls, keep up the fantastic work.
The banquet. Diner here on a Sunday and after reading reviews found it bizarre to see the restaurant empty. We were one of only 2 tables to dine here for the evening. Decided to order banquet and tastes were amazing. Really accommodating and altered food for us. Heaps of food and plenty of rice to serve with the delicious red curry! Beautiful interior, even if waiter was ... Interesting.
Perfect memorable. We dined at this restaurant for our anniversary last week and thought the food and service was terrific! The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was charming. Prices are averege and we will definately be returning. We recommend to anyone looking for a Thai experience.
A great Thai restaurant. I have dined Mountain Thai twice for the past two weeks and they have never fail to produce authentic Thai dishes. I have been to Thailand a number of times and I have work experience in a Thai restaurant as well, however, curries at Mountain Thai is truly home made style of the chefs home. Don't be too alarmed if you can't handle too much chillies- they aren't overly hot so I can recommended to anyone to go to Mountain Thai to experience real Thai food. I have to mention about the interior which is also designed by the owner and looks fantastic.
Katnalan love mountain thai. Mountain thai would have to be by far the best thai restaurant in town.the food is 10/10 every time and the staff are the warmest welcoming and friendliest. No other thai restaurant could compare.It's a Must go to. We go at least twice a week knowing we are never let down.
Satay heaven. I was really looking forward to trying Mountain Thai but after all the glowing reveiws I was worried my high expectations wouldn't be met. However, the food was delicious. For satay lovers, I particularly recommend the Pad Num Satay, which was sublime.
Up there with the best !!!!. Just recently I went to Mountain Thai with my family and was most impressed.The staff were very friendly and made you feel very relaxed in the warm comfortable atmosphere.

I have travelled,worked and lived in Thailand for over 35 years.and Mountain Thai is up there with the Best.
Its cuisine is similar to the Jitpochina in Bangkok which was regarded the Best in Thailand.

Awesome!!!!!!. Went last night with a party of 9. This little restaurant was buzzing! Great food and great value. (I only hope this does not change over time like other local restaurants) Do not be put off by the Australian male answering calls or greeting customers- he is front of shop only. (Meaning it is not an Australian trying to cook Thai) The food was awesome and the wait staff very polite and helpful. Mountain Thai fried rice was yum yum but then again so were the other 6 mains we ordered. Mountain Thai is my new favourite restaurant!
Went again last night (21/7) and it was excellent again.....Keep up the great work!
Finally a quality Thai restaurant in Boronia! The Satay Chicken was lovely, chicken beast chargrilled with home made satay sauce. The Green Curry with chicken was exactly what I expected an authentic Thai curry to taste like. An entree & main for one cost $20. Very impressed and will be returning.
