Review Kingsland Chinese Restaurant - Boronia

Awful takeaway beef an black bean. Soggy broccoli, chewy beef and the sauce was like watery gravy. Not good. The special fried rice was ok, but very oily.

Could not wait to write this review. Not only was everything delicious, we also received a free home made dim sim and a free chicken and sweet corn soup. This place hands down has the tastiest lettuce cups I have ever had and even better they keep the lettuce separate so it's fresh and crisp! Very tasty traditional soup, honey chicken and rice was great and so is the special fried rice! This was our first time eating here and it definitley won't be the last! Only regret is we didn't try here sooner!

Although I've driven past Kingsland many times, yesterday was my first visit. And I liked it! We were warned that the kitchen would close soon, so that we needed to order quickly, but we could take our time eating. I ordered a vegetarian fried rice with extra egg (I'm vegetarian); my partner the combination meat without beef (which he doesn't eat). And a plate of vegetables in black bean sauce to share. It was all delicious. My one complaint would be the lack of vegetarian choices. Other than that, this is a terrific place, and the service was exemplary, even so late in the evening.

amazing food as always. have been going here for as long as I can remember and no other Chinese restaurant compares to their food. service is always lovely and food always served quick and hot no matter if you're getting take away or eating in.

Very friendly atmosphere and quite good food. The special fried rice could use some work though I've had much better. The prices have jumped significantly I don't think we'll be back, there are better places closer to home.

The food at Kingsland is beautiful and so are the team who work there. They are so welcoming. Such fantastic place to go out to for dinner.

Been here on multiple occasions, great food, great service, very cheap / value for money

I accidentally ordered from the wrong restaurant and thought "oh well, try somewhere new". I hate to say that this had to be the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Mongolian beef was thick, dry and looked like it was coated in something like a dog or breadcrumbs. Chicken with cashews had no flavour and the fried rice was claggy... So disappointed 😞 won't make that mistake again. 😕

Good decent food here and we always order delivery through ubereats as my partner loves the lemon chicken here. I’d say a little on the pricey side $25 without rice, i mean its just battered chicken. But it was tasty nonetheless so once a while is ok. I love the mongolian beef and fried rice here and its more worth value for money.
All and all good but nothing too special and food is a little pricey here.

Attend this place if you like to be burnt by hot soup. On fathers day we attended this place for a nice meal. There were 3 couples and one baby. each couple ordered the same banquet. The soup came out and the waitress places a bowl of soup in front of the 1 year old. Being a 1 year old, he grabs the bowl and burns his fingers. He is hysterical for about 15 minutes before the parents leave for the hospital. The waitress did not once come over to offer any help, the manager never came out. The only help we received was from the young man working there, but even that was just before we left for the hospital. They basically ignored us. They are taking no responsibility for what happened, they even tried to charge the remaining party for all 6 banquets when we had informed them that 2 people had left and they acknowledged and said they would only keep the banquet for the remaining party. They charged them for 5 people, claiming they 'thought the dad was coming back to eat'. Then they told the remaining party to never come back. It's a nice place until something happens, then they want nothing to do with you and kick you out. The 1 year olds burns took a week to heal on his fingers. His hand was red for a couple of days. Not sure yet if it will scar.

I wish there was a rating lower than 1. This place was absolutely appalling!!! We booked for Father’s Day for 6 adults and a baby. We arrived and sat down, it took the staff over half an hour to take our order, we figured because there were a few tables that they were semi busy so it didn’t really phase us too much. We ordered the banquet for all couples, they bought out the hot soup and the waitress put the soup right in front of the baby, obviously being a child the baby took hold of the bowl and it splashed over his hands. He was historically crying and would not stop, so the parents took him to the hospital. We decided not to point the finger at the waitress because we believed it was a mistake at first. We then asked the staff if we could cancel the rest of their banquet as they needed to leave for the hospital. They agreed to this so we thought that was really great. It then took over an hour to get our meals out (mind you we all had the same thing). We ate our meals even though there wasn’t much of it there and had our desserts. They then put down the bill where they had charged us for 5 people eating and told us they thought the father of the child would come back to eat and that they couldn’t take it off because they had cooked for 5 people not just 4, we said to them that he wasn’t there for the rest of the night and didn’t eat any of the food because he was at the hospital. The manager came out, we explained our situation and she told my dad to “be quiet, let me speak” whilst we were trying to explain that this was not okay. They eventually told us they would take it off the bill and told us to never return and to get out. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at any restaurant!! I would not recommend going there at all, unless you don’t mind rude staff.

Have been going here for over 20 years yeh the restaurant probably needs an update but the food has always been good and cheap and friendly staff and the best Mongolian beef in Melbourne nowhere else even comes close

I seeiously wonder about the positive reviews on this place... either people who think the food s good have never had real chinese meals or they're friends of the owners..
If you like chinese for white people maybe it's for you. . But its very greasy, cheap cuts of meat in bland sauces with so much oil and grease it makes a fat gel as it cools down.
Totally revolting.

Got takeaway delivered to Kilsyth through Menulog. Delivery was quicker than anticipated and the prices are pretty good. Food was a bit bland and average - needed more spice and more flavour. Nothing memorable.

Having dined with Kingsland for over 20 years, it has never failed to impress and has consistently been of the highest quality in food, service and dining experience.

The staff at Kingsland have always been diligent in providing the customer with prompt, friendly and helpful service.

The food remains one of, if not the best Chinese I've had, where the portions are generous and the prices are excellent value.

Kingsland's home delivery service has also been a favourite of mine for years, with reliable, speedy service delivering fresh, piping-hot Chinese to the door.

It is certainly no surprise that Kingsland continues to stand the test of time and remain a top restaurant in an ever-growing competitive market.

It is the perfect place for any occasion, where Kingsland brings out the best in family dining in a calm, peaceful and welcoming environment.

Last night we ordered takeaway after a hectic day. The gentleman who served us was very friendly and polite. The food was tasty and all our family enjoyed it very much. When visiting my parent's we will definitely order from here again.

We've been coming here for years and always find the food fresh, tasty and very affordable. No need to bring your own alcohol as Kingsland offers a good selection of wines, beers and spirits at very low prices per glass.
The service is always fast and friendly and the atmosphere bright and pleasant. Take-away service is good and home delivery fast and reliable. A treasured restaurant in Boronia!

Over the past 16 years we have tried every Chinese restaurant in a wide radius around Boronia and Kingsland stands out as the best. The food is spectacular and the service is outstanding. When we order take-away, it is always ready on time and home deliveries are fast. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant when we dine in. Highly recommended :)
The WORST meal ever!
Dim sims were awful - even our dogs wouldn't touch them.
Sauces were the consistency of concrete and bland.
Won tons were over cooked.
Delivery was extremely slow.
Very overpriced for what we got!
Save your time and money - don't order from here.

We have been coming to this place for about 10 years. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and welcoming. We have never had a bad dish here, and it is priced good. everything about it is great.

By golly gosh what a little gem this place turned out to be! Must recommend splitting a 4 man banquet between 3. Well worth the squirts that are sure to follow. The crispy birds nest has a bit o look at me about it but the Mandarin pork is real winner. Don't skip the Chinese tea as it must be tasted to be believed!!
Food 10/10
Service 10/10
Atmosphere 我 /我

Our family had take away for the first time from here as a change from our usual Thai restaurant. The food was sickly sweet and pretty disappointing. Not much veggies added. I had stomach cramps all night so something didn't agree. I wonder if they add MSG as this would upset my stomach. One other member of my family felt ordinary too but the other three were ok. As a result however, we'll be sticking with Mountain Thai or Thai Tables.

Our local "go to" chinese takeaway/delivery. Food is always quick, fresh and plentiful. Never made any mistakes with our orders. Definitely will continue as our fav local chinese delivery restaurant!

Mother's day lunch 10/05/15. I have just taken my mum and my partner to kingsland chinese restaurant and would like to make the following review :-

from the moment we walked in we were greeted in an extremely friendly and professional manner. we were quickly seated and were left to decide on what we would eat. a bottle of water arrived at the table and napkins were unfolded on placed on our laps. after ordering our meals it only felt like a couple of minutes and the meals were placed on the table piping hot. all were delicious. i have eaten all over the world and indeed at the flower drum here in melbourne many times and the service and attention to detail certainly matched that of the flower drum. i cannot praise the mostly young staff highly enough. you guys are like a breath of fresh air and should be proud of your service that you provide. PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, POLITE. and you looked after my mum who is 90 with great dignity and respect.

THANK YOU FOR AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE

Terry Hooper

Best Chinese I have ever had. Ever!. We had our meal dine in. The restaurant inside was tidy and clean. Beautiful decor. The staff were so attentive to everything, always coming around and getting rid of plates, asking if we were okay, topping up drinks, etc. Food was speedy and when it arrived, was hot and tasted amazing. Better than any other Chinese food Ive ever eaten. They were very polite. Overall a great experience. Highly recommended!!!

Worst chinese takeaway. This was the worst chinese takeway we have ever had. They forgot to give us the sweet & sour sauce for our pork. The spring rolls taste better from our local fish & chip shop. The fried rice was disgusting and the chicken and sweet corn soup was watery and tasted bland. I would never go back to this restaurant again.

Visit on the 20th February 2015 for dinner. Great service with great food. Happy staffs. Fresh food. Chinese bake duck is one of the best. 8/10. Will definitely visit again.

Love it.. My wife and I have frequently visited for a Sunday evening meal over many years, as we have found it to be ever pleasant. The food is delicious and the staff will assist with your food selection, and make any appropriate changes to the dishes that you require and always with a smile. What more can one say? The service is good, the food delicious and the staff 'uber-friendly'.

We regularly visit this restaurant so visited it again in Feb 2014 and had our best meal ever. Ordered a banquet and even changed a dish within banquet without any problem. The lemon chicken was simply delicious. The staff very friendly and extremely helpful and efficient. A thoroughly enjoyable night and would recommend this excellent Chinese Restaurant to everyone

Shocking. Walked in to the restaurant for a take away and checked with the restaurant owner, who took a while to come out of the kitchen, the reason for the limited range of food for take away and I was blatantly told by the owner that the restaurant only caters to CAUCASIAN!!!

Horrible. I have never had a worse take out experience.
It was the first time our family has ordered from here and will surely be the last.

The soup was okay but very bland.
The wong tongs were possibly the smallest I have ever seen, with little meat.
The lemon chicken was thin meat with the batter falling off it. Parts were soggy and others crispy.
The worst part was the spring rolls, they were disgusting and the same as what you can get at a fish and chip shop.

So very disappointed.

The most westernized "Chinese" restaurant in town. Pros: amazing, but only IF you have never really been to anywhere genuinely Chinese. You'll like it if your idea of great Chinese food is spring rolls, sweet and sour pork, and fried rice. Fresh ingredients, friendly (aussie born Vietnamese) waiters who don't actually speak a word of Chinese... But i could not fault them for a good time and genuine friendliness. Cons: well... It's western friendly... It's watered down Chinese. Example - instead of using noodles for birds nest they use potato chips/strips. Interesting, but its like opening an aussie restaurant in China and putting soy sauce on the steaks. If the locals would venture out to Box Hill or Glen Waverley they would get some "real" Chinese. But, I admit, the service would be nowhere near as good as at Kingsland and the waiters would speak broken English.. And the spring rolls would probably be not as expected. Wir: yes I would but only for a chit chat. An interesting dichotomy and an interesting place.

Great little hidden secret. Ate here for lunch today, and personal service couldn't have been better. We had the lettuce wrap, wontons and chicken satay sticks for entrée, with Cantonese beef (sizzling), chicken with curry sauce and special fried rice for main. The quality of the chicken was questionable but the sauces were great. The sizzling beef was cooked perfectly and the sauce was fantastic. MUST TRY the special fried rice - couldn't get enough of this.
