I personally think the pho in Indochine is the best one in melbourne. Vietnamese coffee is also a good choice!
Cheap and cheerful, efficient and tasty fare. My favorite are their lemongrass beef bun, satay sticks and hanoi spring rolls. They get very busy though but worth the wait
A consistent go-to when we want chill cheap delicious eats !
The bun & pho are always a winner
Had a lovely dinner here for my brothers 18th birthday last night. Great service, from one waiter in particular, and delicious food as always
Ok, This place is busy most nights . This Cosy Vietnamese place serves authentic dishes. The Buns are so good! The noodles servings are big. I could never finish those things. I always have their lemongrass char grills. Such a staple for me. The spring rolls and prawn salad are so good. fresh and yum. Probably because the market is just beside it. They do have a good selection of drinks too. They have such a massive selection for their menu. So you are bound to find something you'd like in Indochine.
We found the serving sizes here to be super massive. Food had great flavours to it, and whilst the service was curt, it was speedy. The vermicelli and nem nuong was a highlight.
Great Food and Great staff service. Food arrived quickly and hot . Good quantity and excellent value and restaurant was full for a Wednesday night and great atmosphere

A great place for a casual, Chinese/Indonesian meal.
The interior is simple, but comfortable.
I love the bun here! I got the vegan version, because I had a lot of food on that day. It was exactly what I was craving. Yummy, crispy spring rolls, soft tofu, a lot of noodles on the bottom & a tasty sauce!
The service is really quick, even when it’s busy. So don’t expect to wait too long for a meal here!
This restaurant has been in boxhill for ages and still being very popular for the locals and visitors.
Friendly staff with extraordinary prompt service. Their homemade char gilled pork meatball, assorted spring rolls and stir fry are my favorites.
Classic beef pho at an affordable price. I feel like pho is always too big of a main for me, so it’s pretty normal I couldn’t finish this bowl. The service was efficient. The restaurant is reasonably big and comfortable.
Amazing food and customer service. Food was extremely fresh and tasted delicious. Friendly staff who were accommodating on a busy night. Will be back for sure.
This place is always super packed so make sure you book! Service is always very friendly and attentive without being overbearing if you get what I mean! Will come back to have their pho noodle soup!
Friendly and polite staff...busy restaurant opposite boxhill shopping complex. Good ambiance.
We ordered Singapore noodles and it was fresh, warm and very tasty.
Highly reccomend.
I’ve been here so many times because not only is the food delicious but their serving sizes are huge and for a really good price as well. This time I had the beef pho with rare sliced beef and my friends got the bun which looked very fresh and tasty
a busy and buzzing atmosphere, with extremely attentive service and seeming to be only seconds between ordering and receiving the meals. all of the staff were extremely pleasant and happy to help, meeting all requests but not hovering around as a bother. each of the dishes ordered were large portions that didn't compromise on flavour, all fresh with just enough kick of spice and tasting different depending on the ingredients.
definitely keen to return and try more of the menu.
Haven’t been here for at least 5 years but it seems that nothing has changed! And that’s a good thing. Popped in for a late lunch and it’s compulsory to order the spring rolls which are still juicy and fantastic. My favourite is the honey prawns on crispy noodles - sure it’s super sweet but the prawns are juicy and succulent and go perfectly with the crunchy noodles. The fried rice was also spot on. Hopefully this place always remains like this!
Returned here for a work lunch the other day. Got the mixed beef and chicken pho which came in a large portion and lots of meat that I couldn’t finish! Tastes good as well. My colleagues also enjoyed their meals.
Seriously the BEST Vietnamese restaurant!!!... friendly staff, excellent fast service, extensive food selection and it's taste and flavour is A-M-A-Z-I-N-GGGGGGG...... Faultless restaurant.... LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEE
Indochine is the best Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne. An establishment on its own right, it’s invested in it’s interiors and food unlike any other I’ve been to.
The broken rice there is a must- always go for the egg pâté over the fried egg, if not the special which has both! It comes with deliciously small tender grains of flavoursome broken rice to cleanse the palate, a grilled piece of marinated pork, a serving of special pork skin, julienned pickled carrots and sweet and sour Vietnamese dipping sauce. A fulfilling visit always from an understated, undercelebrated and overlooked restaurant.
Nice establishment, we didn’t make a reservation but was able to get our table right away. The staff was attentive and helpful. My daughter food contained eggs which we didn’t know. They replaced her meal right away.
The only thing that was off for me was flavouring maybe I’m just used to a different tastebud? The bun bo hoe was on the sweeter side and the spring roll filling was a little bland. My kids food came out perfect and they enjoyed it. Perhaps I need to go again and try different dishes. It’s a nice restaurant regardless and I would recommend this place to others.
Quality has been well maintained since it starts many years ago.
Size does drop a bit but still reasonable.
Services not great but reasonable.
I went here on Tuesday night with my family for my sister’s birthday. I have been here in the past and enjoyed it, apparently they changed owners. I miss the old owner, he was so friendly. We were so surprised with how busy Indochine was on a Tuesday night but luckily we booked. It was very noisy inside too which made it a bit hard to talk to my family.
We all ordered a meal each to share. My brother ordered the pork meatballs with rice paper wrapping. He couldn’t wrap them so the waiter helped him but the waiter dropped it on the ground, he was very apologetic but it would’ve been nice if he replaced that meatball, they tasted good though. The rice paper for my brother’s dish came in a strange contraption but it was handy. My sister ordered the special beef pho, it wasn’t my favourite pho as it had a strong clove flavour but it was still nice. Mum ordered the ginger prawn stir fry which was ok. Dad ordered the chicken coconut curry which was delicious but it was a small serve. The birthday girl ordered the bánh xèo (Vietnamese crepe) which was nice but had too many bean shoots, I think this dish always has too much bean shoots. I ordered the spicy salt and pepper calamari which was my favourite dish of the night. I was going to order the bun with friends but they ran out.
My dad ordered banana fritter for dessert which was recommended by his friend, he enjoyed it a lot. My sister ordered the pistachio praline ice cream which she loved. My mum and sister ordered the coconut lychee ice cream which was nice and refreshing. I had the most expensive dessert which was the salted caramel deep fried ice cream, it was nice but I think it would have been just as good with vanilla ice cream. The people working here were very friendly but I still miss the old manager. I’ll come back and try the broken rice.
Four people were starving, we made decision to find some foods with big portions.
My friend recommended us to Indochine, we like the table near the window, the staff are friendly with quick service. We decided to order all dishes to share. After we ordering, it came in 10 minutes.
1. The broken rice with fried chicken and fried egg, the broken rice is actually attractive, I like the fried egg with the thin rice noodles inside the most.
2. The rice noodles soup with rare & tendons beef is average for me, but still better than some shops because of less and less MSG. That is good for us doesn't feel thirsty after meal.
3. Unfortunately, the chicken with lemongrass and fresh cut chili was not my expectation, we thought it should be came with dry and maybe a little bit crispy. However, it was juicy and couldn't taste the lemongrass.
4. The soy sauce pan fried chicken flat noodles is our favorite, it doesn't like other restaurants, fried it greasy texture.
Various food options with fair price, dried noodles are better than soup noodles. Side dishes are good as well. Will come back probably once a week
Overrated, and a bit over priced in my opinion. We came all the way here because of a friend's recommendation, and while actually the dishes tasted good, it was not up to my expectations. We ordered broken rice, bunh, and fried rice. Surprisingly the fried rice was the best one from the lot. The meats were somewhat dry especially the sliced ones but it tasted pretty good. There were too much vermicelli though and by the end of it, we felt like there wasn't enough meat. Oh and their lemon tea was very sweet, not in bad way though.
Pad thai and Bun was terrific. Really tasty for both. We had spring rolls for starters and they were also incredibly tasty. However we also had a wok tossed chicken with chilli jam and basil. The chicken was bland and tasted like very cheap cuts of meat. Additionally service while very quick had a few faults. We waited for a long time to get our drinks and had to ask twice for them. Also we found it very hard to get out waiters attention for water, napkin etc All over I think the rating of 3.8 is appropriate.
I love coming to eat at Indochine. The food is excellent and the service is warm and attentive. I've never had a bad meal here and i've been eating here for years.
We usually have saigon spring roll, prawn rice paper roll and salad and extra dished. The service could be slow depending on the day and time.
I love Vietnam food and this place is very good.
Rather busy around dinner time, but the food makes up for it. The food is delicious, although not outstanding, you get what you pay for. The staff were friendly and the interior has a warm ambience.
Went here for lunch with my Dad and son. Unfortunately they don't have a high chair but they were able to accommodate us at the back with space for son to move around and sit comfortably. We had the Special Beef Rice Noodle Soup ($13.80) and Rice Noodle Soup with Beef Brisket ($12.50). Great servings and delicious soup for lunch.
Nice restaurant with clean authentic pho. Would recommend the lemongrass pork/beef/chicken bún, the best I've ever tasted. Always a good place to enjoy a meal.
I ordered the rice vermicelli with lemongrass chicken and spring rolls. The dish came out looking beautiful. The meats with spring rolls were fresh and warm while the noodles and veges were cold and refreshing. Exactly how you want your Bun to always be served! The Vietnamese coffee smelled so good upon arrival with strong notes of toffee. Loved it! Perfect amount of bitter to sweetness from the condensed milk!
I've been to this restaurant.
I love to Vietnam stew and chicken grill
My kids love spring roll and cold noodle.
But too many people come over and please, make booking before go the restaurant.
Terrific quality Vietnamese! Highlights are the chargrilled meats (beef, chicken,..) on rice or with vermicelli (bun). So tender and taste great! Food here just lacks chilli - so I always ask for some fresh chilli as a side and they bring immediately at no cost.
Had a quick dinner at Indochine tonight. Been there a few times, the food seems to have gone done a little. The dish is getting smaller and presentation has gone down hill. However this is one of the better restaurant in the area. Friendly and fun staff always happy to serve. The restaurant is a little crowded and noisy with tables being too close.

was mighty fine place :) had really nice staff and food came out in 3 minutes on a busy night in luvvv - good vegetarian options as well. highly recommended
Dined here with mum on Wednesday. According to her Indochine was "very good" so I thought that if the chef said it was good then it must be good. I got the chicken Pad Thai and the spring roles were to share. Firstly the spring roles were quite good. So how it works (iirc) is that you wrap the spring roll with the lettuce, place some of the noddles (which are conveniently hiding in the photo) on top of the spring roll wrapped with lettuce, place some coriander on the noodles and lastly drizzle some sweet chili sauce on top of all that. It was unbelievably fresh and unbelievably good. The only improvement I can list is that the spring rolls probably needed to be thicker, but then again, they are probably only meant to be consumed by one person. The chicken Pad Thai was quite flavourful. A bit too spicy for my liking. But it was nice. This is the second time I've had Pad Thai and I really liked how the noddles were a little firm. The decor was very appealing to the eye, and the music playing in the background was very classy sounding. I can't say much on the service. It was friendly if not a little unenthusiastic. I have read some of the reviews on Zomato about the service which seems to be the biggest criticism, but it didn't seem bad at the time. It's been almost a year since I last ate something at Box Hill, and I know I'll be coming back very soon.
An authentic busy Vietnamese restaurant which a majority order pho, broken rice or bún. I normally get the rare beef pho and sometimes the grilled lemongrass beef bún. The service is pretty well for a busy place and they have quite alot of staff working. There is a reasonable amount of meat in both dishes and the pho broth is sweet and tasty, with no MSG. To add a bit more flavouring, you can add in chilli or sweet onion, with complimentary basil, bean shoots and lemon. Great viet fix for a regular price of $11.50 but would be better if they could add a tad more noodles.
Box Hill would not cross my mind when I think of Vietnamese food. Due to my hectic work schedule coupled by the need to hit the gym as much as possible, dinner time is usually a bit later for me and so, very rarely do I get the opportunity to head to Springvale for good Vietnamese food. Vaguely remembering a decent Vietnamese restaurant visit in Box Hill with a few friends last year, I suggested this place to WL and now, it seems to be one of my favourite places to go, much to his displease :p
Walked in off the street, place was packed and we were greeted by the friendliest, most flamboyant host who instantly had us grinning!
We ate rice paper rolls which were fresh and full of flavour, then beef red curry, garlic greens and combination noodles!
Everything was brought out so quickly and tasted amazing!
The portions were big enough for us to share between 4 (with rice)! The red curry was a table favourite but unfortunately the smallest of the meals (but still plenty)
Despite us staying until closing time, the staff were extremely friendly and professional and we felt the price was extremely reasonable for the food and service we received, BYOW is a huge plus for us uni students also!
We'll definitely visit again but will call ahead to avoid potential disappointment!
Been going here pretty much my whole life and the quality of the pho has not changed at all. It's always been amazingly delicious. Portion size is pretty big and the price is cheap.
I grew up eating here and it's also the place where I had my first exposure to Vietnamese food. Love all the food! I could never get sick of it!
When we were in Melbourne a couple of months ago, we met up with two of my friends from primary school (who moved to Melbourne the first chance they got). One of them suggested meeting at either a pizzeria or Vietnamese, and I voted for Vietnamese food without hesitation. Located in Box Hill, Indochine has been operating for many years, gaining a good reputation and building up a loyal customer base. Service was efficient and the food we ordered was delicious. Price was reasonable too, so I can see why Indochine is a popular choice.
Best bun cha in Melbourne by far. I have tried so many. The lemongrass pork with spring rolls. Have been coming here for years, always the same great taste. Excellent service, fast, fresh and friendly
When i need a quick fix of viet food, especially vermicelli cold noodle, i come here all the time. Quick serving great service reasonable price consistency of food quality and great location for locals to taste viet food! Whatelse would I be able to expect it!? ;)
This place is one of my favorite viet restaurants. Not all the dishes are a hit, but if you know what to order then you're in for an amazing meal.
Must try are the hanoi springrolls, either on their own or with vermicelli noodles and grilled beef/pork bowls. The grilled meats with banh hoi are also amazing, we had the meatballs this time and I absolutely loved the dipping sauce.
I'm not a fan of the soup pho, but the stir fry version is quite tasty. We had the pineapple squid and it was ok, definitely needed more pineapple and seasoning.
There are enough staples here, not to mention the friendly front of house, to make this place a regular for me.
Booked a table for dinner on a Saturday night. When we walked in at 7.30 there were a few empty tables and chairs but that changed after a few minutes, and they were soon packed. The staff are so friendly, and very attentive. Whilst we were waiting to order a staff member came running from the back wall, waving, as he knew we were ready to order. We ordered spring rolls to share and seperate main each. The food came out very quickly. And the chicken and tarot spring rolls were crispy and full of flavour, as was the lemon grass chicken bun. Definitely recommend and will be coming back again.
Came here with 2 friends and ordered:1 x Pho Tai (rare slice beef)1 x Bun Bo Hue
1 x Prawn Tom Yum Soup
1 x Bo La Lot (Beef in Betel Leaf)1 x Chicken Springrolls
The bill came to approx $70.I came here because a friend recommended the pho broth but mine was pretty shit and the noodles were way too soft. The BBH was 4/10, lacking flavour and spice. Chicken springrolls were overcooked and a little burnt but still pretty tasty. Tom Yum soup had a decent amount of flavour but the serving was quite small. The Bo La Lot was so fkn yum WOULD RECOMMEND.

The Hanoi spring rolls are delicious~love the deep fried rice paper pastry but definitely can use a few more pieces of lettuce haha! Fried chicken pho had quite a generous serve of fried chicken~noodles were lovely and soft. The pork chop in special broken rice wasn't really marinated enough but overall was yum.
Never disappointed either food. Nice pho and pak mor
Always one of my favour restaurants in Box Hill. Great lunch place.
A great place for delicious traditional Vietnamese cuisine!
Had a delicious "Bun Imperial", rice vermicelli with ground prawns wrapped around sugar cane sticks and Hanoi prawn spring rolls!😀👍
