Cheap and cheerful dumplings and XLB. Really enjoyed their shanghai noodles too. Service is really friendly and they take card too which are both reasonably rare in Box Hill so I will definitely be returning!
I would normally come to DC Dumplings for the pan fried pork dumplings which are insanely good being a generous quick serve. Tonight however I had the cravings for a more delicate dumpling. I tried the soup filled Xiaolongbao style dumplings. These came out super hot so I had to patiently wait for them to cool down. The soup filling was tasty and I managed to avoid tearing the casing on all but one. We also tried the prawn toast and KD had a hearty warming spicy soup. We finished off our meal with sweet custard buns.
This is my favourite go-to dumplings place. Their dumplings are the best especially during the colder days. Friendly staffs. Highly recommended.
I have been to DC Dumpling many times. Decided to visit on a quiet Friday night. I felt the spicy ox tripe could have had more punch to it. The fried pumpkin cakes had a delicious coating with chewy texture. As always, the pan fried chicken and prawn dumplings were a winner. Also, service was excellent.
Been delighted to dine at DC Dumplings time and time again! Food is yet to disappoint! Quaint aesthetics, family vibe. With lots of parking nearby, would recommend DC Dumplings for a quiet family night.
We can here and had to try their steamed and fried dumplings along with the zhao long bao. Their food was tasty but just lacking something. Not sure what, but just something is missing...might be back to try other dishes, but not sure.

Some of the best dumplings in Melbourne - especially if you live in the eastern suburbs. Quick service and plenty of vegetarian options. Pan friend vegetarian dumplings are a must.
I ordered online and got the crispy skin fried chicken, pan fried pork dumplings, pan fried beef dumplings and the satay chicken on rice. Taste wise, it was really good, seasoned well and enjoyable. Presentation wise, could slightly be much better. They did give me free plain rice as it wasn’t on the online menu!! Definitely will be coming back!
I went around lunchtime with one other friend and it wasn't busy. We were there for roughly around 30-40 and the service was amazing. The food is delicious and both our meals came out at the same time. It is a small little place and would recommend for a small group of no more than 4. One downside was since it wasn't busy the worker kept walking past the out table and was always looking and watching us but otherwise, staff seemed very nice. Would highly recommend

We were very happy with the great service and satisfying food me and my partner enjoyed this Saturday night. At first I was skeptical as I find it very difficult to come across decent vegetarian dumplings. However they were excellent! My partner ordered Mongolian beef which he was also happy with. Although, my only complaint would be it was quite pricey. $41 for two people is quite steep. We ordered 12 dumpling and Mongolian beef plus two bowls of rice. Also the dumplings were prices $13.50 on menu but we were charged $15 on the bill so that was confusing too. However, we didn’t mind to pay because the food really hit the spot and the service was great. Especially because earlier in the night we had planned to eat at dumpling king next door but ended up walking out due to rude service and getting snapped at for asking questions and being judged and discriminated against. That’s another review though. When we compared to our short experience at dumpling king we were very happy with customer service plus the food at DC dumplings. I would definitely go back there again for takeaway dumplings as well as the dine in experience!
Pork xiao long bao dumplings are possibly the best for flavour and affordability in Melbourne. Relaxed casual restaurant with fast service, expect to wait for a table for dinner and on weekends. Spring onion pancakes are also great if a little greasy (but they are fried so probably a good thing!)
One of my favourite places for dumplings in Box Hill. Good variety of dumplings with the best being the fried pork dumplings. The other dishes were average so I will order mainly dumplings next time.
Been coming here for years and this is one of the few remaining favourites of mine in Box Hill and Doncaster area.

A small restaurant and it cannot hold too many people. 95% customers are white (nothing discriminative behind the usage of this word. Black is black, white is white and yellow is yellow).
And I cannot explain why this is so.
The food is consistently good. And serve sizes are reasonable. The prices have been creeping up over the years and remained not excessive.
Had lunch there recently and my favourite dishes are still very nice. The best fried pork dumplings in town compared to the greasy thick-pastry ones elsewhere. Tasty chilly beef on rice. And the double sided fried noodles.
It can be crowded and look disorganised but I like this place and so do other white bros and sis.
Very unsure, I have been here multiple times, but tonight was literally a circus. Wait time was far too long, I ordered dumpling noodle soup and prawn dumpling noodle soup and xiao long bao. They brought out dumplings in soup... without noodles? and forgot the prawn noodle soup completely. It seemed every table had mistakes with dishes being sent back left right and centre. Overall it wasn’t worth the wait time as it was the blandest thing iv ever tasted. Xiao long bao is nice however.
I only really come here now if im craving dumplings. They are always consistent and always tasty, good for a cheap quick meal. The service is so so but service is not something you really look for when dining at a place like this anyways
Had the standard pan fried dumplings and the Shanghai fried noodles! The noodles had a taste I am not familiar with (compared to other Shanghai fried ones I have had before) though, were still nice and the dumplings were plump and juicy!
Good cheap food. Soy sauce tastes weird. The venue is quiet small and hot but overall an enjoyable experience. We will return for some awesome food
Cheap and delicious! I enjoy their mapo tofu and breadcrumb chicken w/rice more than their dumplings. Tasty and reasonable with their portions! Worth ordering the Xiao Long Bao it is soupy and nice! Haven't really tried many of the other dishes as I'm not very adventurous with Chinese food in general. This is my go to place when I cannot decide, never lets me down

Big portion, very flavoursome - it's rare to find a good Asian eatery with majority of the people who dine in are whites! Love their fried rice, dumplings and their congee!
Food at DC is average, I would've normally given it a 3/5. What made them stand out was their service. Staff were very friendly and really went out of their way to look after your needs. They come to you before you even look up.
We had some pan fried pork dumplings, spring onion pancakes. They were delicious. Dumpling pastry was probably the thinnest in Box Hill, filling was very tasty too.
However Shanghai stir fried noodle was a bit of a flop. Lots of noodles but minimal vegetables and shredded pork, nothing else. Curry chicken with coconut rice was not so good either. The coconut was relating to the curry chicken, not coconut rice. Chicken had no bones but lots of chewy bits.
Ladies toilet was not pleasant. Toilet seat was broken and was not clean. We went before 6pm, hasn't even hit to peak yet. Usually cleanliness of the toilets reflects cleanliness of the restaurant.
Think next time I go, I'll just have dumplings and not use their toilet.
Pan fried dumplings and the soup dumplings were average. Best dish was the steam prawn dumplings. The special spicy chicken were very good. Service was good and friendly. Overall a good experience.
This place is so underrated. The staff are super attentive and they greet you as soon as you enter and when you leave. The boss is always looking to make sure the place is running in order. I've been here 9 times since moving to Box Hill and the BIG BOSS is always there making sure customers are happy. The food that I've ordered have been prepared to a very high quality, the only hiccup is the home made dumpling can afford to have a thinner skin. Do not confuse this place with D&C (David & Camy) Dumpling just down the road as there is absolutely no match. Talk about plagiarism!!!!!
My staple dumpling place in Melbourne! DC Dumplings do one of the best panfried pork dumplings, they are crispy and juicy. The staff is attentive and the service is super quick.
The food here was okay, mixed veggie, and jellyfish appetiser was standard, hot and spicy chicken was yum! Garlic ribs was nice but a bit dry and the pork dumpling was unpleasant to eat, filling was mushy and felt uncooked, service was good, will go back n try their other food.
You're immediately greeted when you walk in the door and if it's a full house do yourself a favour and wait or do takeaway. The service is prompt and efficient throughout your whole meal which is great if it's a bigger group when you keep adding to the table! Food is always tasty and fresh as their turnover is so quick, no food could possibly sit there for long

Very tasty experience we had at this place! Beef dumplings are just pure juicy goodness with so much flavour and texture. Xiao Long Bao dumplings were another little bags of delicious tasty soup. We ordered as a side dish Brisket with rice and changed the rice to coconut rice. Very happy with the choice! We also ordered a cucumber salad as entree giving it a refreshing touch to the meal. Service was excellent and will definitely come back to try the prawn dumplings. Highly recommended.
A very pleasant surprise. Only came here because another place messed up our booking，but really enjoyed the dumplings here. Very good value for money.
I tried the vegetarian dumpling noodle soup and was surprised by one serving is as big as 3 servings maybe because it's vegetarian. I also had the coconut rice. I highly recommend this Coconut Rice to everyone. It's absolutely out of expectation, rich creamy coconut lil combination of sweet and salty.

I needed something fast to eat and was in the area at around 6pm when the traffic at Boxhill was chockablock.
👍🏼 The staff were welcoming and warm from stepping in to an already 1/2 full house. Service was prompt and well anticipated of our dining needs.
👍🏼 Tall thermos with nice hot tea on every table.
👍🏼 Xiao Long Bao was tasty and just the right bite size. Not the most aesthetically refined thin skin or 18 fold look but it held in the soup and fillings nicely without breaking but was still moist and soft which is key so it's a 4.5/5 for me .
👍🏼 Pan Fried Pork Dumpling was not bad and skin stayed crispy holding the fillings in till the bite. Taste good but being pan fried is just quite oily and the huge portion needs to be shared. 3.5/5

Best Xiao long Bao and dumpling place ever! This is our local go to place. Our friend took us here a while ago to try it and now we are addicted and tell our other friends to come here too! Xiao long bao here at most time well made, nice thin pastry with just the right amount of soup. This place used to be easy to get a table during week nights but now getting very busy most days during the week.
Staffs are very attentive, and Dumplings were one of the best I've had :) ...thin dough, soft skin! And they have this homemade chilli oil I was craving for. Special spicy chicken and Chilli beef were fresh and delicious too :) Will definitely come back. PS. Place is small and could get super busy! Better make a booking in advance.
Had their Pan Fried Dumplings, Xiao Long Bao and Drunken Chicken. Both the Pan Fried Dumplings and Xiao Long Bao were decent while the Drunken Chicken was commendable. The Drunken Chicken was rich in flavours and well fried, with the crispy skin and tender meat. Even though it was oily, it was delicious. As for the Pan Fried Dumplings and Xiao Long Bao, I felt that the skins could be a tad thinner and the fillings could be a bit more flavourful.
I spoke to both the owners whom are very nice, kind and accommodating to our catering requests as we had a very specific group of eaters. We had 4 types of different dumplings for each person, some stir fry noodles with some meat and shredded vegetables, stir fry vegetables. The dumplings are very juicy and moist inside, can tell that they are made with so much care. The noodles and veggies are equally good too. Chilli oil and vinegar for the dumplings were also provided. Will definitely order from this restaurant again. Thank you for the food and love.
DC Dumpling is a small dumpling restaurant located across the street from Box Hill Central Shopping Center. As I live very close to Box Hill and dine there often, I found it strange that I had never visited DC Dumpling, especially since many of my friends absolutely love the place.
Box Hill has always struck me as a place with many options and none particularly outstanding. Back in the day China Bar and La Porchetta were the two options before and after playing games at Virtual Arena with bubble tea. It has progressed a little since there with the range of cheap Chinese options expanding and also a few nicer looking places.
Late on a Sunday night, you'd be forgiven if you think dinner hubs are closed and locked away. If you went home instead of going to DC dumpling house, you would be known as a 'classic fool'. The place is open until midnight, so get there. We ordered XLB, prawn dumplings and pan fried pork and prawn. Hit the mother load with these three gems. Finished us off with a Singapore noodle as my friend has an addiction to them, the poor bugger. XLBs were amazing. Some of the best in Melbourne. Cheap place too. Get there
I don't even like Chinese food, but my boyfriend made me come and I loved it. The best Chinese food I've eaten!! We will be back again! Best Chinese food ever!
I've been here far too many times to count. It's cheap, easy and oh so delicious. The food is always consistent in standards and I've never had a 'bad' food experience here before. They also make xiao long bao and it is a MUST to order when you come here. For those that have never heard of xiao long bao dumplings - you are missing out!

I went here with my Dad and sister for dinner tonight. We ordered the steamed pork dumplings, the steamed prawn dumplings, sweet and sour pork, the shredded lamb with onion and the beef brisket curry. The pork dumplings were way better then Luyang and they were just as good as Ra Raman (I don't go there anymore due to poor hygiene in the Glen Waverley store). Their prawn dumplings weren't the best I've ever had but they were nice. I wasn't a huge fan of the sweet and sour but it's something I wouldn't normally order. The shredded lamb was good. The standout was the curry beef brisket, normally curry from these places like this can taste watered down but this one had plenty of flavour. Sadly I could only have a little taste because I can't eat chilli anymore. The staff here were friendly, it's amazing what a difference a smile can make to your evening, other people working in restaurants in Box Hill could learn from this. One waiter was even having a friendly conversation with a customer he didn't know. I would rather come here then Luyang. I was also happy the food came out piping hot. In Fact it was hard to take photos because my camera was steaming up.

I came in here for dinner and I thought it was crammed before but now they have people sharing tables and there's no room to walk around. Going to the front to pay the bill is going to be awkward. If they want to serve more people they need a bigger venue.
Very good Chinese restaurant. They have a wide range of dishes including their speciality, dumplings. However it all seems good and very reasonable prices. Free Chinese tea is provided for everyone. Highly recommended.
Been a few times and I love it here. The staff are nice and the meals are so authentic. It's one of my favorite spots in box hill- definitely give it a go!
The BEST dumplings in the eastern suburbs! When you visit this little box hill gem, you're paying for the food! The place isn't amazing in terms of interior however the dumplings make up for the lack of atmosphere. Also, the customer service is fabulous! All of the staff are always smiling and so polite which makes it a very comfortable, relaxing & low key vibe.
I have only tried the homemade dim sum and spring rolls from the entree menu! These are your typical Asian goodies (nothing unique) but the dumplings (steamed pork) are so full of flavour and every time, I get them they become better & better. The rice dishes are beautiful & the Asian broccoli is always a favourite of mine.
This place is super affordable and it is truly worth every cent!
Also, thank-you kindly to the lovely gentlemen who worked here (I think he may have been the owner). He was very polite, kind and friendly. He also opened the door for us as we departed! Very great service

I came to this place to order one of the most, according to my Chinese friends, whitewashed dishes (geez, not at all politically incorrect guys): hot and sour soup.
Well you know what, I'm Asian and I love hot and sour soup and I'm proud of it!! And this place serves you a bucket of it for less than $12, its also probably the worst dish to take a picture of, but I did it anyway and uploaded too!
I also tried their combination stirfry and the dumpling with soup in it (xiao long something, please don't be offended). They were awesome!
Now this restaurant was packed with 90% non-Chinese so maybe, just maybe, it might cater to the inner-westerner we all have inside. You know what, my inner-westerner was happy and so will yours if you eat at this place.
My partner and I had a beautiful meal at DC dumplings, the food was excellent and they had quality service. We will definitely be back!!!!!! :)
When it comes to a quicky, DC Dumplings are my go to! By quicky I mean a delicious and speedy lunch that hits the spot every time! (Naughty! What did you have in mind?!!! Lol).. You can't go wrong with their al dente cooked Shanghai noodles with the perfect balance of toppings and a less salty flavor than usual which is a relief as they do not cause an assassination by thirst due to saltiness! The pan fried beef dumplings- perfect chewiness and squishiness, the part that faces the pan always has a crispy golden irreplaceable texture that brings me joy!!! Oh yes... The service is excellent too! : )
I LOVE this place. Whenever I'm celebrating something or just want awesome dumplings I go here. It's the best place for dumplings in Melbourne. I've tried a lot of different places for dumplings and DC consistently beats the competition. Can't wait to go back again :D

Dare I say it - best dumplings in Box Hill? Love this place, especially for my late night dumpling and fried rice fix. The staff are so wonderfully friendly, shout out to Peter for always having a big smile and a good chat.
We often walk past this place because it is not a very nice looking restaurant. The signs are all very cheap and the place is a bit dark.
But.. what a nice greeting when we walked in. I would say it is the friendliest and nicest place I have eaten in in Box Hill.
We were warmly welcomed, asked if we needed any help or recommendations and just given a smile. So rare in Box Hill.
The menu was extensive but with more than just the usual list of dishes.
We had the fried pork dumplings (of course!) and the shredded pork with ginger on rice to share.
Great dumplings - close to the best in Box Hill and elsewhere. Good skins and the filling was tasty without too much salt.
The other dish was simple and tasty.
Based on two dishes it's hard to recommend somewhere, but we would go back to try more and to get more of the great hospitality.
Just do something about the purple walls and A4 sheets stuck to the wall please... otherwise would have given it a higher score.
Decent dumpling restaurant if you like to eat dumplings for supper as well as it closes after midnight. My partner and I had shared prawn dumplings and turned about a bit smaller than we expected to be, but the quantity does compensate the size of them. The boiled Taiwanese dumplings were full of flavour, especially when you add vinegar and soy sauce to it. Only thing about the restaurant it is a bit tight going around the tables as there isn't a lot of room but bearable. Overall the dumplings were tasty, can't wait to try the main dishes.

Had prawn dumplings and xiao long bao again with ma po tofu dish.
Dumplings were a bit bigger and tasty and the xiao long bao has improved, the soup had a lot of flavour and the mince was great and felt warm inside when I ate it.
Ma po tofu was a little bland for my taste but has a good amount of spiciness to it. The sauce had no flavour unfortunately.
Will be back for the dumplings.
Had dumplings here late last night and I have to say I was very impressed. I suggest steamed prawn, Xiao Long B, fried beef. Pork filled dumplings had too many chives & the flavor wasn't that nice. The young waiter was very knowledgable, quick and friendly, so that was really nice too.
Great dumpling place located in the eastern suburbs. Good food and lovely staff. Quality of food is amazing and I only wish it was a little closer to home! A must try!
