Review La Burgery - Box Hill

Great service from the owner. Very friendly. Food is great! Had a burger and chips. You get to choose your own bun and great selection of sides. Will be back again!

Awesome burgers, large servings and great service. I just found my new favourite burger restaurant!

Absolutely awesome lunch today!!! The service was second to none as the lady running the shop was super helpful and nice. On top of the great service my burger and chips were top notch. Very fresh and not too heavy. Overall a 10 / 10 experience. Highly recommend

Nice diner, had a great Bacon cheeseburger with chips and drink. Price is slightly too steep, but it was a nice filling meal and well cooked. I will go back there to try other burgers. Miss the old Nando's which was here before though.

The bomb! Quite literally the best burger I've ever had. I give lots of 5 star reviews, but nothing deserves 5 stars more than this place. Owners are lovely too! LOVE!

It's now on our top 5 burger joint in the east. Patty was super tasty n serving is massive. I had the steak burger and was cooked to perfection.hubby had the burger and it was super juicy n tasty. Fries can be better with a twist like rosemary or Texas salt rub. They made their own curry mayo its a must try. Decor is modern n cleanline. Best of all the location gives you plenty of free parking. They don't use the brioche buns but they have sourdough, Turkish bread rolls to choose from as well as your usual suspects.

For such a nicely presented establishment and lovely staff it’s a shame the food didn’t have much flavour & was over priced. $25 for a combo is too much, especially when it’s not a great taste. Shake was basic Chips were bland Burger was lacking flavour And to be the only customer in the place, it shouldn’t take so long to make.

Ordered the Buffalo Fried Chicken burger & chicken parma through Uber Eats. Parma was okay, very small serving chip and salad wise. I was expecting the burger to be bigger and flavourful, but it was rather dry and distasteful. The 'chicken breast' was just a bland crumbed schnitzel, mayo was tangy and watery and tasted cheap - I've had better burgers from the fish and chip shop. Very overpriced, won't order from there again.

Great service, tried all the burgers, most are great, some just good but you won't get bad burgers there. Coffee is good too. The only downside is parking. They have very limited an hour parking outside but other that, be prepared to park blocks away.

La Burgery in Box Hill is located in the old Nando's store. It seems to still have much of the old layout, furniture and staff.
La Burgery is serving up old fashioned fish'n'chip shop style burgers, and they are doing a pretty good job of it. They use the traditional bread roll bun rather than the brioche style that is so common these days. The burgers are simple, but taste fresh and well balanced. The prices are a bit cheaper than other burger joints in the East.

Service is great, I love that they cater for the vegetarians and the veggie patty used is actually really good. Drinks prices (non alcoholic) area bit steep though.

My absolute favourite burger joint. The flavours and value are always there when I go and I don't find it too greasy or salty.

A lot of the poor reviews seem to come from delivery burgers. I always have mine in-house and fresh with onion rings.

Ordered a veggie burger and fries, order took 40mins to prepare, in the time I was waiting the waitress had multiple arguments with the kitchen staff and had several calls from UberEATS saying people were missing food. When food was finally ready it was handed to me with with no word spoken; not even a ‘sorry for the wait’. And to top it off when I got home and opened my order I realised that they had given me the wrong burger. A meat burger, I’m vegetarian.
Espy Eats
When the cats away Espy orders in a burger from Uber Eats. I only discovered La Burgery through a Uber Eats as I seldom venture over to the north side of Whitehorse road when I visit Box Hill. I ordered the cheeseburger which was far more than your typical cheeseburger. It came with the addition of bacon and salad as well as a heap of juicy good sauces and mustard. Perhaps just a tad too much mustard if I’m being picky. Other than that small thing I really enjoyed the burger. The fries on the other hand didn’t fare well from the Uber Eats journey. Quite limp and not overly warm. Perhaps it’s hard to judge a restaurant based on the uber eats experience but I’d say thicker chips as opposed french fries would have survived the journey better.

I enjoyed enough to give them another more personal crack I think... and their chicken burger range did almost tempt me so would need to gave one of those at another occasion.

La burgery replaced our local nandos chicken, so i decided it'd be time to give them a try. The burgers are great (if just a touch expensive) and the onion rings were very good. There are many sides and sauces to choose from and i believe they even serve alcohol by the bottle so you can enjoy a beer with your burger.

A great lunch spot to catch up with a friend, and worth the few extra dollars.

An okay joint for burger. I ordered the piri piri chicken burger and the Grandé burger. The chicken was marinated to perfection and the piri sauce was spicy and authentic. I have something against soggy burger and the juice of the piri sauce soaked in to the bun and ruined it for me. The dressing for the lettuce did not help to save the burger. The same goes to the GRANDÉ. Maybe it would be a different experience eating in, but delivery, never again.

Thought we would try a new local burger place tonight .. (well not so new .. as it's been here for about a year now)
Ordered online ... it was delivered quickly .. burgers wrapped in paper held together with an elastic band .. which were delivered in a paper bag..no real insulation to keep it all warm while in transit ..both burgers were on the verge of cold .. had to reheat meat in microwave ..
We asked that the tomato be omitted from the burger .. but yet it came to us with 2 thick slices of tomato 🙈
Onion rings were lovely .. and our thick cut chips looked more like French fries ..

I ordered the Italiano and onion rings, I really enjoyed my meal and it was good value for money. The staff were really nice and I recommend the onion rings, I even order a second batch!!!!!!

Left this place feeling very disappointed, angry and hungry!! La Burgery missed the mark on delivering tasty burgers. The patties were clearly mass produced and processed, even though their website states they source the best meat from Geelong. And, their onion rings were over priced for what they were and likely bought in bulk too. Would not bang!

On the up side, burgers are reasonably priced around the $10-15, but it'd be more satisfying to hit up woolies/Coles and make it yourself.

This is an amazing burger place, It deserves way more attention then it gets. The home made patties are so succulent and moist. I have been many times and it is home to some of the best burgers I have ever had. There are so many options with the fillings for the burgers, as well as picking from different buns. This restaurant is one of the best things to ever happen to Box Hill in terms of food. It is a more than welcome change to all the asian cuisine restaurants congesting the area. I highly recommend the Classique with Cheddar, and then for a $2 addition to get King Island Brie and have all that cheese melt through the meat in a sensual explosion of flavour.

There are only two real downsides to La Burgery. One of them is the location, as it's a bit out of the way from Boxhill Central. But honestly, this just gives you a good excuse to walk off all those calories ;) . The other downside being that it is on the more expensive end of the scale. Although, you are paying a good price for good quality.

They also offer delivery through several different fastfood delivery services, so you can get your burger fix on that day that you feel like being extra lazy.

Regardless of the downsides, it is surely worth your time to take a gander at La Burgery and treat yourself to a La Burgery Classique. What are you waiting for?

In an area consisting of predominantly Chinese eateries, La Burgery doesn't have a lot of competition. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, but I have been very impressed on my few visits there.

The burgers are tasty and fresh, with high quality ingredients at a decent price tag. I usually go for the chicken burger (Peri peri or Indian flavours) and a side of onion rings. There are a choice of different buns - including turkish, sourdough or brioche. It's nice to see this option as I'm not a massive fan of brioche which mosts places seem to use thesedays, and the sourdough has always been great.

If you're hankering for a burger around the Box Hill area, definitely give this place a go!

Perfect. We ate here today for the first time and I could not fault a thing. It's hard in hospitality to get everything just right but these people do. The decor is gorgeous and very appropriate, the service is efficient and charming, (I loved the lady owner) and the food is to die for. We had a perfectly cooked beef Grande burger, a chicken schnitzel burger with amazing sauce, onion rings, fries, aoili dipping sauces and great coffee to finish off. La Burgery is Box Hill's very own little jewel in the crown.

Really like this place , burgers are magic, but gave it a 3 because of the kids menu, beef burger comes with chips and then the other option for kids menu was just chicken strips..this was just chicken strips ...it's a few chips it's not going to shut the place down. Fix the kids menu and I will be back.

La Burgery opened its doors last year, replacing Nandos on Whitehorse Road, Box Hill close by to the Box Hill Town Hall. It offers an extensive variety of burgers, with beef, chicken, lamb, fish and vegetarian options as well as wraps and salads if you are not feeling like a burger. They also offer a few sides, like fries (obviously) and onion rings. All their ingredients are locally sourced with their bread and meats delivered daily.

When the best Nando's closed, we were disappointed, it always had friendly service, and good chips. Joy oh joy, when we discover that the same friendly people remain on the location, with, a new restaurant.

With a perfect view of the Box Hill Town Hall, this restaurant is just out of the crazy-life of Box Hill, but only a short walk away. The fit-out is classy with lots of dark timber and some banquette seating. Every time I look at their name, I read it as 'La Augery' though, the cow head coming in from the 'wrong' side of the 'B', but I am sure those adept at txt are able to read it properly.

This is not 'fast food', I mean, it IS, but it's also made to order, so sit back, relax and wait for your burger or sandwich to be made with care, it's not a huge wait, but clearly neither is it conveyor belt cooking. Also, and this may sound like a negative, but it's not meant to, the burgers have a really healthy 'vibe'. I suspect it's the salad ingredients such as rocket, are spanking fresh, and perhaps that one of the breads - Turkish - is made in house. Nothing feels 'greasy' about the burgers here.

I found it difficult to choose, and based on what I eat, we'll have to return quickly as I was well pleased.....this in spite of the fact I didn't get what I ordered - not the staff's fault, my o/h went to the counter with my order, but inadvertently chose the wrong one. I went with steak, and had chosen the 'Steak Supreme', but The Lovely Man just ordered the 'Steak'. I was invited to choose how I would like my steak cooked, and went with medium rare - it was not, it was medium-well by the time it got to me, but for all that, the steak was still juicy and tender. You need your steak in a sandwich tender, or you pull out the whole chunk with the first bite. This was not an issue at all. A decent piece of reasonably thick-cut scotch, along with chilli jam, caramelised onion, beautifully melted Swiss cheese, herb aioli, lettuce and heirloom tomato. Juicy and delicious, the bread held together perfectly, so although the juices dripped, they did not destroy the integrity of the meat, leaving my hands clean to the last bite.

Two of my dining partners went with the Mexican, adding tortillas to their burger, one went with the brioche bun, the other the Turkish. Both were enjoyed equally. The Lovely Man didn't mess up his order, and got a pretty fancy-smancy La Burgery Grande (sans avocado), not a peep was heard from him until he finished. He also had some bbq wings and onion rings. I had a taste of the rings, and, I am not a fan usually, but these were perfectly crisp, well seasoned and not at all astringent. Our youngest chose from the 'Kiddo's' options, and he had the most perfect-looking burger, with melty cheese. For a kid it's a 'huge' burger, but our son handled it with aplomb.

We decided to try both the fries and the chips, and here, it's really only going to depend on your preference. The seasoning was perfect, lucky as there's no salt on the table, they were golden, super-hot and everything you want your chips/fries to be. I am a fan of a chip, but my kids love fries, so we were all happy.

Caramel shake was great, it was nice to see larger bottles of sparkling water, but you can also help yourself to tap water. Pepper grinders are on the table, and cutlery is available.

Satisfying, classy burgers, very friendly service.

What Box Hill needed ....

Far from the madding crowd, across from Box Hill Towh Hall, next to Domino's, (used to be) Nandos, Penang Inn and the Police Station.

Away from the intense Asian flavours of Station St, Box Hill, this boutique burger joint is what Box Hill needed.

Neat, clean, comfortable sitting area and a very good exhaust system, even on a very hot day no smell from the kitchen.

It took me back to American Burger House, Jakarta in the 80's where I thought I've had the best burgers in the country, no Macca's and other burger joints back then. Mini/small Cheese burgers wrapped in grease paper, French Fries and a Thick Shake on the Menu.

You can't fault the burger in this place, between $10-13.50, comes in a four buns option, we've had the Italiano on Turkish bread and the Signature on Brioche accompanied with some family chips $7.90 and two Milk shakes; Blueheaven and Strawberry at $4.50.

Chips were good just ordinary, maybe Sweet potatoes or Beer batter, Curly fries would be a better option.

On the Milkshakes; Blueheaven is just right, Strawberry was too intensed with flavouring and sweet.

Limited on their drink menu, you either go for soft drinks, Pellegrino or Milkshakes, I was longing for an Asahi Superdry or Stella Artois or some boutique beers to go along with those yummy burgers, it would have been a perfect combo.

Or BYO ......

So fresh and yummy. It was our first time and we'll be back. Many flavours in one burger. I got the supreme steak and my partner got a lamb burger.

Can't fault it yet! We stumbled upon this place, trying to find Nandos. I actually don't think I've eaten a burger that has tasted so fresh before. Well done La Burgery! Finger-lickin' good!

Been there for 2 times. The first time we ordered their signature burger and returned to try fish of the day. Both are very nice especially their signature burger, the beef was nicely cooked and juicy. Their fish of the day is not bad too.
Food are take a bit longer time to serve however is worth for the wait. Staff are very friendly and will definitely return to try other burgers on the menu.

Ambience is pretty nice. Clean, and smart. There is a constant background noise from what might be the ventilation system though.

The food is pretty good. Onion rings were delicate and crisp while soft in the middle. My friend loved them though I would have preferred them a bit crunchier - that's a personal preference though I guess. The burgers I felt needed a slight change. They were definitely quality but, at least with the sourdough, there was too much bread to eat through - delicious as it was. The pattie was nice and moist too.

We werent quite sure what to expect with this place. Its reasonably new and hasnt made much of a splash its also very different to anything in the area. But overall very strong.
We ordered onion rings, iced mocha, caramel milkshake and two la burgery grande one with chedder instead of swiss and one with an extra patty and cheese.
Onion rings came out first. Crispy but not oily
Onion soft and cooked through plus it comes with aoili.
The burgers were fantastic.
Probably one of the very few must try specific burgers ive come across.
The buns were nice (choice of brioche, sour dough, turkish or gluten free)
The meat was thick, juice and well seasoned.
Bacon cooked crispy but not dried out.
Plenty of sauce. The salad nice and fresh.
Avacado slices soft and pinapple delicious. For $13.50 we were very impressed with the taste .
The drinks were probably to only thing that could be improved. The milkshake was nice a larger size option would be good.
The mocha was also nice but lacked ice cream or ice when it comes out.
The place still has the "new" vibe in terms of service and timing but its not unpleasant.

New Burger eatery opposite Box Hill Town hall is definitely worth a visit. Extensive menu includes wraps and vegetarian options. Basic burgers from $9.50 (see photos) Serves coffee. Open early + late closing. Meal deals. Clean. Outside section puts you in range of free Telstra wifi if you are on that plan. Music is modern - Industrial techno sounds playing when I was last there but not loud or intrusive.

Popped into this place last week with a friend of mine. We realized that its the only burger joint in Box Hill aside from McDonald's in centro, at least as far as we knew. The place is quite nice with the fact that its lit up pretty well inside. Lots of places now go for the 'mood' lighting where you're basically squinting and trying hard to see basically five inches in front of your face. Thankfully this place wasn't like that.

We both ordered the same thing which was the La Burgery Signature Burger with a drink and chips on the side. They also offered a free coffee along with the meal deal, but it could just be a promotional thing at the moment. It did take SLIGHTLY longer than other places for the burgers to finally show up, but it was definitely worth the wait. My buddy said that "its taking longer 'cause they're making it with love". I don't know about all that, but what I DO know is that it was a darn good burger. The patty itself was melt-in-your mouth and way bigger than most of the other burger joints like Grill'd or Huxtaburger. And it was oh so full of flavour and juicy. And these guys had more bread/bun choices than the other places that I've seen. I picked the sourdough bun and my buddy picked Brioche, neither of which affected the final price. I chose not to have the free coffee offer, but my friend had his and said that it was a perfect finish to his meal. In retrospect, I regret not having taken the free coffee!

The service was excellent as well. The place was originally a Nando's that was there for 10-15 years, but the management decided to set up their own burger joint instead of renewing their Nando's contract. Extremely friendly, polite and knowledgeable staff who have carried over from the previous Nando's store. When they were handling the Nando's Biz, it was fantastic and I was sad to see it shut down. But I have to say, this brilliant burger place fills up that void and then some.

Usually I tend to stick with a particular burger if its good and not bother with the others, but its the first time that I felt like trying another one - 'cause if one of the burgers were damn good, the others might be worth a try as well. Very extensive menu of burgers (including fish options!) and drinks as well. Will definitely come back to try a few more and I think I'll bring back a few more friends to enrich their lives with masterpieces of burgers. Highly recommended.

p.s.

The Zomato description suggests that its a cash only place, but we paid using eftpos and both our meals cost about $20 each.
