Review The Hungry Ape - Box Hill

Stylish cafe serving up delicious food and coffee. Service with a smile. 🙂 + Ordered the shepherd’s pie and salad. Couldn’t put my fork down once I started eating it. 😋 + Cafe owner is friendly and there’s a real genuine feeling/vibe about this place.

My daughter and I visited the area and had a quick lunch at this cafe. The food was beautiful and the service was great!

Truly home made cakes and salads are excellent; the service is cheery and fast; it's our favourite lunch stop. Can particularly recommend the iced coffee but it's all good.

It had a strong smell of spiced fried food and the coffee was weak. The staff were welcoming and friendly.

For a small cafe, Hungry Ape provides something a bit different in the way of food, along with excellent coffee. The service is fast and friendly. I'm very happy to visit here regularly, either for lunch or just coffee and cake.

Amazing healthy food, ranging from yummy salads and sandwiches to sweet slices. Also great coffee from Small Batch Roasting Co. My go to cafe for any given day!

Small local cafe tucked away in North Box Hill. Nicely presented space and charming service. However, I wasn’t at all keen on my coffee today, unfortunately. Perhaps it was a one off.

Hungry Ape is a modest little cafe in a small strip of shops in North Box Hill. The name is intriguing, but expectations level out from then on. It is a shop-front cafe, with a limited menu such as toasties, a small assortment of cookies, and a few ready made wraps and quiches in a glass cabinet. The decor comprises an off-white colour scheme, with an unusual and attractive hexagonal timber planter stand affixed to one wall, and polished boards. The settings comprise plain dark timber tables and matching chairs The dining space is quite narrow and limited to just a few tables. On my visit, I had coffee and cake, and both were quite okay. The service was friendly and prompt. It is okay for a quick bite on the run, but I wouldn't set out to visit here especially.

With a name like that .... one must stop and check it out.

I'm glad I did as their latte was smooth and above average, interesting interior and when time permits I shall try their menu.

Good work from such a quaint and narrow frontage.
