Our daughter ensures we are there for breakfast every weekend. And she loves the lemon tea.
Lunch is a large portion for a decent price.
Service is typically HK, but definitely not rude.
Came here for dinner and had the porterhouse steak special with seafood chowder and cold Hong Kong milk tea. It was quite good value at $21 per serve. It also came with pasta for the steak. Quite tasty meal and came quite quickly. My dinner companion had the baked seafood Portuguese with fried rice. Was quite tasty and will have to try the other dishes on the menu.
Place to go if you want to turn back time to Hong Kong 1990s.
This is red wine braised diced beef fillets on rice (item 5 of daily special)
Very generous portion - lots of rice
Been for so many years. Interesting to see Asian and Western cuisines on the menu, some of there are mixed in. Great place for family because it has a lot of room. Love the couches. Price is decent and always walking out full. Sometimes we stay there for at least 2 hours and not get the stare telling us to get out...
Typical HK style cafe with lots of yummy dishes to choose from. Definitely a cheap eat in this area. TV plays the HK TV channel all day and it is kind of like having a meal in Hong Kong!
This hong kong style restaurant is the best in melbourne. You will never find a better one, their milk i can give them more than 5 stars. Food experience 5 stars as well.
Whenever im missing the food from hong kong, i come here. Its nothing near fancy and doesnt always look the prettiest but it is authentic. The baked pork rice is my favourite and one of their specials and their daily specials with a drink is usually $12.50 and trust me one meal could feed 2 unless youre both super hungry!
Traditional Hong Kong style food and milk tea in box hill ! yummy dish and not expensive price u can try ! Have Set lunch and set dinner it’s so good .
Fantastic hong kong style restaurant. 5 star fo their HK style milk tea, the best hong kong style milk tea in Melbourne. Never disappointed.

The signature bake pork chop rice is simply awesome! This place is always busy at meal hours but they are very efficient in delivering a plate of piping hot and delicious meal.
Toast cuisine is delicious, haven’t tried other food but I think should be pretty good as well. Sold variety kinds of food.
Will visit here again ....!!!
A very good no frills joint for fast and cheap food. They have specials, breakfast and lunch deals that seem to rotate frequently. I've tried their porridge, pork noodles and seafood udon. All tasted quite nice but nothing that special. The milk tea is nice too! Iced tea with condensed milk is perfect for this hot weather!
The portions are quite large and with their combos and sets this place is definitely value for money. I'll definitely return again for some quick, yummy and filling food!
If you want something authentic and HK, this is where you want to go. Must admit, presentation not that great but if you transported yourself to HK, this is almost exactly what you get, quick and easy meals at a low price. Often quite a lot of people so be prepared to wait especially on weekends. Their HK milk tea is by far the best. Hands down
Been visiting Hong Kong Best Food since forever. I like their breakfasts more than their lunch / dinner. For breakfast, it is traditional HK style where you can pick from a set menu of A to G. I usually have meal C (poached eggs, toast, baked beans and sausages). We also have the congee with panfried rice noodles (pictured) or we sometimes go for the soy sauce egg noodles. The third breakfast dish we always have is the macaroni with eggs, toast and bacon. Best thing is each meal comes with a hot or cold drink of choice and each meal varies from $8 to $10.50 which is pretty good I reckon .
New update April 2017) Breakfast option is still pretty good but inconsistent. Sometimes the food quality is spot-on but on other days the toast or the fried egg may be burnt.
This restaurant is one of my favorite. Been going to taste Hong Kong style milk tea everyday, I can say they make the best Hong Kong style milk tea in Melbourne, taste exactly the same as in Hong Kong!
Other than this, their service is fast and staff always smiling to the customers.
This place is run by a Hong Kong cantonese family business and is quite authentic. We normally order from their weekly special menu which has 6 different dishes and includes tea or coffee. The special menu changes weekly and recently also increased the price from $10.80 to $11.50.
The food here is good in comparison to other Hong Kong cafes that we have been to in Melbourne. The portion is big and 3 specials is well enough to serve 3 people and we sometimes even have remains to takeaway.
The Hong Kong milk tea here is not consistent each time.
The downside is their customer service. Excuse their loud yelling. If you are a regular, you would get use to it, but their customer service here is kind of appalling. Although it may be busy, they should still provide better service to their customers.
Quite rare now in Melbourne can find Hong Kong style food.
This one service a bit rude, but their food really got the taste of Hong Kong style
$10.80 for the daily special including hot or cold drink
Will come back try the breakfast meals or afternoon tea
Located on Carrington Road where there are an abundance of options, we arrived at Hong Kong Best Food to hide away from the heat and have lunch. Arriving at 1pm on a Saturday, we were immediately seated and served complimentary chinese tea (the restaurant remained constantly busy for the duration of our meal there).
The restaurant itself is medium sized with air conditioning (thank goodness). The food was good in comparison to other Hong Kong cafes that we have been to, with customer service relatively at the same level as other Hong Kong cafes (tip: come in expecting to eat and not delivery of top notch customer service). The staff member who took our order appeared to prefer to take the order in Cantonese over English; we had to either point to the dishes on the menu or attempt to recall the name of the dish in Cantonese (e.g. he didn't understand 'Hong Kong milk tea' in English).
Hubby had his favourite baked pork chop spaghetti. He loved the flavour of the sauce but said the pork chop was over cooked and therefore dry. While I opted for a seafood Singaporean flat rice noodle which in my opinion is hard to get wrong. We both agreed, that the restaurant did not 'skimp' on the ingredients e.g. for the seafood Singaporean noodle, instead of just two-three thinly sliced fish cakes, there were an abundance of fish strips (enough for almost a strip a mouthful) and capsicum instead of just bean sprouts.
For a no frills, quick Hong Kong style cafe, I would return here.

Many people seem to have a mismatched expectation here for an Aussie experience. imnsho Hong Kong Best Food is efficient and offers good value for money. How many places offer free special drinks?
I have been going to this place for over 10 years now and they never seem to disappoint.
There food is amazing and the staff are always very friendly.
A must try is the mandarin beef and satay hot pot!!
This restaurant is pretty nice, good quality Hong Kong style food. What I love is the set lunch special on the window which changes every week! Service is good.
If you like to experience authentic honkie style breakfast this is the place to go. Shared tables and crowded seating is a near replica of what you get on Hong Kong. Many set meals to pick from and their milk tea is as close as what you get on Hong Kong
Quick meal before work!
Love having breakfast at this cafe! Especially this set menu E that comes with noodles of your choice, luncheon meat/ sausage/ ham/bacon, piece of toast, pan fried egg & and a free drink for just $8.
Other meals are also nice & the price are all reasonable too.
Breakfast starts everyday from 8am.
Me and my friends always go here for breakfast early on Sunday. There is always crowded and people waited to be seated. I have to say that this is most Asian feeling place in a nice way, you can feel from the vibe and atmosphere.
Talking about the price, very affordable and penny worth. We can pick what to go with our meal set, combination of snack, main and drinks. Their foods are not the best, very simple but enjoyable (abit average).
Service, pretty straight forward and not customer-oriented. They might not understand you well, no iPad to order but simple traditional menu pointing should do.
For some reasons, I keep coming back again and again.
Set lunch - value for money! Ordered the pineapple fried rice with seafood, and it came with one free milk tea. The dumplings were really good. Very busy restaurant. There was a queue forming as we were finishing our food. So if you are after a place to sit and chat after meal, this is not the restaurant for you.
Please ignore the negative reviews. If you want authentic HK cuisine at cheap-as prices go here. To get service just put your hand up and get someone's attention. If you want 5 star service go somewhere and pay for it. It's full of Asians because it's unpretentious and the food is good.
Good price Good food. I had the special today - Black Pepper with Spaghetti. The sauce was really thick and pepper overpowering, spaghetti bland but nonetheless I think this restaurant provides good value for money. Love the atmosphere; service really prompt. Would come back and try something else.
Good value and good food
Had the breakfast special , 8 dollar special fried egg stake and toast with coffee booom , booom can't best it . Fast service too
Small shop which have Good food at affordable price, staff are v nice too.
My go-to cheap yummy lunch place. Everytime I go to Box Hill, I still seem to go to this lovely gem. Where can you find big servings less than $10 with a drink?! Only place I know with delicious meal for a very cheap price. The only bad thing would be the wait to get seat on weekends as it is packed with people! Never I disappointed, love this place and would recommend it.
Dollar spent to dumpling quality ratio is hard to beat in Melbourne. I get the feeling it is more of a wholesale operation these days but if you are lucky enough to get one of the few seats, and in the mood for quick decent dumplings with great staff and interesting fellow diners, you can't go too far wrong here.
Great Frozen Dumplings. I have not eaten in the shop as I always buy frozen dumplings to take home to steam. I find them all their dumplings to be tasty, not too salty or fatty. They are also generous with their meat fillings.
I particularly like their char sui boa (pork buns) as they don't artificially colour their roast pork with red colouring. Pork is not red, it is brown when cooked! The buns also have the right amount of sauce/gravy too so they are moist and not dry.
Highly recommended. Not preservatives either
Very Hong Kong, I love it!
Ordered vermicelli fried noodles, food took ages to arrive. Average taste. Cheap prices, great tasting milk tea. What u pay for is what u get.
It gives me that Hong Kong's feel and atmosphere. That's all that matters.
Great if you like asian food. Well, I and my friend go to box hill quite a bit. We love our food and our arcade games so after a hard-core play session we usually go and chow down hard. After a long think about what we should eat (and a few thong flips later) we ended up at the door of Hong Kong best food.
dum dum dum, we entered. I went in and asked for a table-BAM! Instant clean table: D. after reading our menus for a bit, we were served. And we got our food pretty quick too! just to let you guys know I am white, and I love Asian stuff , and I had NO problem with service at all, they didn't ask me if I wanted a fork(which is fantastic). Also all food is around the price range of 8-14 for main course
Then we got our food and the serves where massive! I got a seafood lucksa and it was fantastic. You also get free tea when you enter! A little word of warning, if you don't like salt in your food-ask before you order.
Inside the place the noise level wasn't that high, which a plus is. My really only downside to the entire experience was the wall seating. It was a tad small and there was nothing to lean on.
But besides the seating everything else was fantastic. I totally recommend going here if you like this type of food. You might even see me!
final scores-
food- 8/10
service- 8/10
interior- 7.5/10
OVERALL-8/10
Pau Wow!. I absolutely love the dessert pau here - lotus seed, red bean, and custard. We buy them takeaway from the fridge and steam them at home. Lotus seed in particular is superb and as good as I have ever eaten.
They also have an eat-in shop on Carrington Street.
Good food, good value. Went with friend, service and decore was pretty average but the food held up. Fried calamari was great, spring rolls ok and prawn wanton pretty good. Huge menu, fresh quick hot food and tasty. Very cheap too. 8/10
Truely superb authenic dim sum with most reasonable price in melb. Granted, it may not appear to be ur typical chinese restaurant with minimal deco & quick yet curt service, but for those who has experience in eating dim sum, this is the place to go. Take it from someone growed up on HK, give it a try!!
Did the scan to order and it was so convenient. Use this as it helps to prevent getting the incorrect dishes as it happened here before.
The foods came out very quickly
The customer service was alright, just gotta read what’s on the table if it’s your first time there because waitresses are very busy during lunch time.
Overall it was amazing, good foods and quick service. The lamb was very big but we wanted to eat everything and somehow managed to finish all.
Recommend by a friend, been there a few times. Authentic Hongkong food verified 🤤 The salted fish tofu was interesting, I’ve never tasted anything like it. - 1 star for inconsistent flavour, sometimes the same dish was too salty and other time was bland.
Always the go to place for HongKong food! Tasty and authentic! Highly recommend if you are looking for HongKong food in this area
taste pretty good, and its a big bowl of food, milk tea taste also good
