Review Movenpick - Box Hill

Jason Lee
The decadence can be on the sweet side, wonderful if you have a sweet tooth! The nut flavour is a favourite.

The ice cream was great, the coffee was okay. But you don't go there for the coffee, you go there for the waffles and ice cream and brownies and chocolate fondant which was awesome. There was no problem with lingering long after our coffee and ice cream while there were spare tables. If its your thing , the outside area is suitable for smokers and those wishing to indulge their long forgotten habit through second hand smoke (not a huge thing, but its noticeable)

The icecream tastes factory made - you can just tell its franchised and centrally run. And way too expensive for the quality. I might be a bit fussy about icecream, but for the price I expect proper home made quality.

Awesome ice-cream! Waffles are also worth trying

Decent coffee and icecream is good.

We found the price of the ice-cream to be a little expensive compared with other ice-cream outlets. The selection of ice-creams was great though with some very yummy toppings to choose from! We would certainly recommend going all out for a platter so you can taste and enjoy a little bit of everything!

One of the few ice-cream parlours available in Box Hill Central. The price is quite expensive in comparison to other better dessert/ice-cream places. There is a variety of flavours to choose from and each have their unique taste. However, service is rather average and needs improvement. Great how Movenpick has take-home tubs available for their customers to purchase instore. Movenpick has also joined with Rewardle, so you can earn points via their App and receive a free ice cream or hot drink after 5 visits.

The ice cream was delicious. However the service was lacking as the two people working there were too busy talking to each other and didn't want to serve customers. It was far too expensive. I loved movenpick in Europe where it's also far cheaper.

Love the Swiss Chocolate and the nut flavours the best. We use the entertainment book most times we visit and it's really good value. Without the voucher I find it a little pricey.

Heard a lot about the Movenpick icecream and decided to give it a shot. Staff were really nice and friendly but unfortunately for me I found the flavours a bit too sweet and artifical tasting for my liking.

Im in the five star hospitality industry. I have tasted many desserts and food specially because I'm specialized in the food and beverage side. Just gave this business a try and I was surprised with the first impression of the staff and choices of desserts. However later on I found out only one particular staff was really good and friendly, the other had a bad attitude. All in all desserts are real good and that staff member could be the supervisor or leader to other staff.

Expensive ice cream, good quality but wouldn't come here just for the ice cream as I think ones we get at our local super markets are pretty good quality already. However the kitchen desserts like the apple strudel was really nice, worth the money!

Ice cream that tastes as good as it looks. Ordered the mango and lemon/lime sorbets, both were so refreshing and contained fruit pieces to my surprise! <br/>Staff were super friendly and allowed us to try flavours when we had difficulty picking out of all the tempting choices.<br/>They have value you for money deals of tasting plates and fondue, which I'm coming back to try next time

Expensive for the amount you get, but very true to advertised flavors that taste like their name. Good place for some dessert as it is modern and edgy, yet a bit small, in a convenient location. I chose the crème brûlée with blueberry cheesecake on top. My boyfriend opted for coffee with cinnamon on top.

This place never fails my expectations. The quality of the ice cream is amazing: smooth, rich and dense. I prefer denser ice creams so the texture they had was perfect. I ordered the Hazelnut and Creme Brûlée and loved them both. Preferred the hazelnut since I'm a sucker for nut ice creams and the creme brûlée was a little sweet for my tastes. The customer service was fast, efficient and lovely. Recommend this place if you're willing to pay $8 for 2 scoops of ice cream. 😭😱

This is my favourite Movenpick in Melbourne.<br/>Despite what appears to be another conventional ice-cream takeaway, you'd be surprised how nice it is. I particularly like the chocolate and coffee. The waffles cones are crunchy and tasty as well.<br/>Really surprised with this one.

For dessert, Mövenpick's ice cream and decadent fondue delighted. We loved the array of gorgeous flavours of the wide variety of ice creams and sorbets. Mövenpick Ice Cream owes its inspiration to a revolutionary vision of culinary excellence that swept through the kitchens of fine Swiss restaurants in the 1960s. Today it is an iconic Swiss chain selling ice creams and shakes in modern surrounds.

Came here with my partner a while ago twice in the past and I must say the deserts are rally nice if you have a sweet tooth. Customer service is also ok unlike some of the other stores in Box Hill Central. Had the swiss chocolate waffles with a Stracciatella Ice cream drink which were amazing! Pricing however is dear which makes it difficult to come here all the time esp in Summer but thats how it is.

With a wide selection of flavours and various ice cream based desserts, Movenpick is the perfect spot to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings. The panacotta is a must!

"...NICE ICE-CREAM..NOT SO NICE PRESENTATION..."<br/><br/>We had Decadence Dessert 'Sundaes'... $9.95 each<br/>Choice of 2 flavours of ice-cream.. Choice of 2 toppings..<br/><br/>When they arrived to table.. each one was dramatically differently sized..<br/>Couldn't straight-away work it out, as they were all s'posed to have 2 scoops Ice-cream..? Till we got near to the bottom..! Half the containers were full of CANNED WHIPPED CREAM in various stages of melt - Not a good look NOR a good taste..<br/><br/>For that price - almost $10 each - they should have had fresh fruit in them, and nuts, and a generous wafer - not just that little thing poking out the top... and perhaps... 3 scoops of ice-cream...???<br/><br/>Look, maybe I'm expecting more than I should...? But I was a bit disappointed...<br/><br/>I've given them a good 3.5 because the ice-cream, itself, although icy... had tons of flavour - it's what they did to it... there's the problem...<br/><br/>Next time - just the ice-cream...!!!<br/><br/>Visited on Tuesday 20 October for 4 Sundaes.

Always a great place to get ice cream and hot drinks from. The Stracciatella is always a personal favourite.<br/>Staff are okay, not overly polite, but generally pleasant.

Movenpick specialise in swiss ice creams and desserts. They have 3 franchises here at Victoria, so I went to Box Hill franchise since it is close to me locally. They open until quite late so it’s perfect for me when I have sweet cravings or I just want to completely forget about my diet. They have an abundance of ice cream flavors to choose from, having 24 different ice cream flavors to suit anybody’s taste. They also have other deserts such as molten chocolate cake, waffles, brownies, pancakes and fondues! For drinks they have coffee and smoothie!
Food Fidelis
definitely will be coming back and I will recommend this to anyone with sweet tooth.<br/>I have tried coffee, pistachio, mango, banana, chocolate, espresso, and strawberry sorbet. I would say my favorite would be the pistachio, mango, and strawberry sorbet. The strawberry sorbet and mango are very refreshing and it is good to have it with more sweeter dessert such as brownie and molten cake.<br/><br/>I have sensitive teeth so I can’t eat too much ice cream but I love how each ice creams have a rich depth of flavor.

I have never had ice cream so good! We ordered a tasting plate of 6 flavours which was just under $15. A lot of people are rating Mövenpick on the expensive side but when you taste the quality of their icecream you will be sure to find it a fair price.

At 2 flavours for $6.95, Movenpick may be a little bit on the pricier end of ice-creameries, but with flavours like crème brulee, swiss chocolate, gingerbread and maple walnut, how could you pass this one up?
Kangaroosmate
Just focus on ice creams. My husband regrettably ordered the apple strudel, it's like McDonald's take on apple pie...

We used Groupon voucher for this. Very satisfied with the desserts and service!

European-style flavours, but like it's priced in euros. Mövenpick is a Swiss chain, but as I was chomping my two-scoop cone from here, I was thinking of Paris. The flagship shop of the high-end Berthillon ice cream empire on the Ile St. Louis, to be exact. Those French frozen treats are intensely flavoured, like the distilled essence of whatever that scoop is made from. I got that same feeling from the espresso croquante scoop I had from this Mövenpick. It was actually BITTER, but not in a bad way. The bitterness was from the espresso content in it, and it was mixed with the sweetness of the ice cream. I've eaten tonnes of gelato and ice cream (haven't we all?) and I contemplate the nuances while I'm eating it, so I can galah on in these reviews. That bittersweet espresso was one of the most unusual scoops I've had outside Europe. The maple walnut I had along with it was also more flavourful than most other places, but it had a bit of an odd, gummy mouthfeel, like some sort of artificial emulsifier was added.<br/><br/>So why do I give Mövenpick a thumbs-down vote? Because it's bad value for money. A place not only has to have good food, it needs to be a decent deal, or at least not a rort. Mövenpick charges $6.95 for a two-scoop cone, and they're not even large scoops. (That French place has smaller scoops, like the size of golf balls, but it's France, the home of teensy-tinesy nouvelle cuisine, so you've gotta expect that.) A lot of Mövenpick's ice cream desserts at this shop are well over $10. C'mon, Mövenpick, this is Box Hill, not Lake Geneva in Switzerland (which is the first place I ever ate their stuff.)

Dessert Anyone?. Its your usual dessert place that serves coffee, milkshakes and ice cream. Over 20 flavours of ice cream to choose from, ordered their deluxe tasting plate which allowed 6 taste testings i.e 1 scoop of 6 different flavours. We ordered choc mint, vanilla, raspberry sorbet, mango sorbet, white chocolate and panna cotta ice cream, all quite nice, certain flavours had chunks of fruit in their ice cream which was good, quite enjoyed their desserts, have to try their milk shakes next time. Coffee was also great. Would recommend this place for a quick dessert if you're in the eastern suburbs for sure

I'm normally a patient person but the time it took for me to receive my order was unacceptable. Had been waiting 25minutes for 3 scoops of ice cream in a waffle - somthing that should take all of 60 seconds. The staff work slowly and have a disorganised system. Their policy of prioritising dine in customers over take away is the opposite of your standard restaurant. The ice cream, while delicious, was not worth the wait.

We came with groupon voucher. It was a nice place, tasty, worth for $. Highly recommend.

For the prices, you would expect a clean table. We have tried this place a couple of times. Last time (25/11) we ate in. The flavours in the gelato were nice, but that's the first time I've had bits of peel in my gelato. Not a fan. Also, the tables had these smalls spots over them. I thought it was some sort of non-slip surface. A little water revealed the spots disappeared. All the tables had been wiped down with a dirty cloth and left a sticky (i'm guessing sweet, didn't taste it) residue all over every table. Come on - 4 staff, barely any customers, surely you can thoroughly rinse out a cloth and clean the tables properly.

Missing europe. So we headed to box hill for a european fix of swiss ice cream. Having had this in luzern i was excited when i was told that it was here in melbourne.<br/>My husband had a cup of creme brulle ice cream. complementy was the waffle. and I had the straccitella (vanilla with crushed chocolate) <br/>Now you can take home a litre of it if you want, but we didnt have the time to take it home. <br/>must try if you like your ice cream

The white wall interiors are bright and welcoming. As you enter the store, you are faced with the dilemma of choosing out of 20+ ice-cream flavours available. Take home tubs are also available. The staff was friendly and service wasn't too slow after dinner when we were there.

I visited Movenpick on two separate occasions and I absolutely love this place. The only downside is the price. I find it quite expensive for ice cream but the quality is super amazing so I guess it's alright to splurge a bit! I found my favourite flavour to be Mango Sorbet. It's sweet and sour at the same time. I think I just made it sound really bad....but trust me it's really good! And I find that theres a scent of real mango in there which doesn't happen often since everything's frozen and the fresh mango taste is often lost to synthetic flavours.

Ever since I started blogging last year my friends have been nothing but supportive ~ it’s quite cute actually, they will send me texts when baking supplies go on special at the supermarket and also update me of the latest dessert places in town. Last week I got a SMS from Ozmomo a family friend I’ve known all my life ~ she reported a new Movenpick boutique store had recently opened up in Box Hill and if I wanted to try their chocolate fondue ~ Of course I said “YES” in a heartbeat and very quickly we organised to meet up the following Monday night ~ Did you know that the first Movenpick store opened up in 1948? And it is now actually owned and run by Nestle? ~ I love reading up about a company’s history and how they have become what they are today hehe ~ I was quite  surprised that Movenpick had chosen to open another boutique store in Box Hill, given that their other store is only in Doncaster (my area) which is a 20 minute drive. I assumed that they would want to open up a store som
Foodlovesmymouth
I had been to the Movenpick at Doncaster multiple times before but was the first time to the Boxhill one - it's much nicer and newer as a separate restaurant instead of the open space in the Doncaster shopping centre...
Denny
Unfortunately, I found Movenpick to be underwhelming and considering it is a dessert store, the desserts really weren’t that great all things considered and I’d probably even just go to a Wendy’s if I had to choose based on value for money. A bit of a shame.

Food Republik is a fantastic idea that is highly reminiscent of food courts in Asia, and the food options have a strong Taiwanese influence. the menu is huge and features a number of different "hawkers" who are placed around the space. Unlike in Asia where customers would approach the vendors individually, there are wait staff on hand to take orders for all the vendors and bring the food to the table. Perhaps as Food Republik gains popularity, it can revert to the more authentic ordering system. That being said, the menu does proffer an authentic spread of dishes that are comfortingly familiar and evoke many fond memories. Afterwards, we stopped by Movenpick, which is also a recent addition to the strip and tasted their wares. It's so great to see them in Melbourne and who knows, if we are lucky enough, maybe Haagen Daaz will open shop here as well!
