Review Brighton Soul - Brighton

Patrick Sham Yuen
Had lunch here with my wife not to long ago. The food was absolutely delicious and the smoothie was fantastic too! I ordered the burger and chips and my wife had brunch which consisted of folded eggs, bacon and mushrooms paired with sourdough toasted bread. I ordered a latte earlier which it's safe to say had been the best in area so far. Completely touch free and cash free which is perfect for these times, the menu and payment is done all via QR code at your table. Highly recommend this establishment and cannot wait to try other items on their Asian inspired menu.

A great experience at Brighton Soul today. We brought our dog and they happily accepted him, they even brought over a water bowl for him. Very dog friendly! Food was exceptional and drinks were good. 100% recommend this atmosphere.

Wow! Extremely impressed. Made a booking yesterday and the owner was friendly on the phone. Turned up for our brunch and had a nice table reserved and the food was phenomenal. Inspired and delicious. The Smokey Benny comes with a clear closh enclosing smoke that escapes as you unviel it, dissapating to reveal a beautiful plate of tasty combinations and a twist on the traditional Eggs Benedict. Will definately be back to try other items on the menu. Thanks for your hospitality!

5 stars. Loved it! Eggs Benedict were good, the smashed avocado too. Crispy chicken bao were amazing. Will go back.

Service is fast and friendly. The ambience is really fun and there are many different dining sections, cool! The food is pretty and presented in interesting ways. Visual impact and presentation are prioritised over flavour combinations and taste... especially in the dish pictured below. Personally, the sweetness of the dipping sauce and the avocado mousse/paste, overpowered the natural sweetness of the salmon. The dish is aptly called Lost in Japan. If I do go back, I wouldn't mind having the Seafood Laksa again. It was packed with ingredients and the flavour was acceptable.

Great location just next to the station, however, the menu was hard to be read, cold brew was not tasty.. Food was goon in general mostly Asian food

Dutiful breakfast and excellent coffee. Food was super fresh and arrived quickly. Highly recommended.

The beef benny had a smoky taste which was nice Blue algae cold brew looked very pretty 🥰 but tasted abit plain

Had the spiced chicken burger. My friend had salmon with egg benedict & matcha jasmine latte. All are superb!

Great food, service and fantastic value for money.

A slice of inner city funkiness in Brighton ..... Great feel and love the decor .....

I'd been wanting to visit Brighton Soul after seeing it all over Instagram so it was great to be able to visit yesterday.<br/><br/>Most staff were friendly, however one of the waitresses looked like she simply didn't want to be there, and wasn't friendly at all.<br/><br/>We ordered the taro latte, green tea, crispy chicken bao and the prawn chilli scramble.<br/><br/>The taro latte was a stunning colour, however lacked flavour of taro. It tasted like hot milk. I really enjoyed the baos, the flavours were spot on with a good amount of chilli. Although the actual bao could have been more light and fluffy. The scramble was good, not the best we've had as it seemed to lack seasoning and the crossiant was a bit dry.<br/><br/>Overall, we still had a good experience, but it seems like they really try to make the dishes + drinks Instagrammable - if only it all tasted as good as it looked!

Best coffee on Church st in Brighton. Great service, always friendly and professional

The BEST brunch place. We come here time and time again on Sunday for their delicious and gorgeous food. They offer a variety of unique dishes with some asian-inspired fusion and more traditional breakfast favourites. My top recommendation is the Hangover Burger with a delicious hock, eggs, benedict sauce - make sure you get this with a side of mushrooms! Second on the list would be the birdcage for a sweeter dish!

this place is amazing!! i ordered the naughty ballerina souffle pancakes and wow my eyes became like this 😍 when it came out!! and it tasted as good as it looked! and my friends Donald Crumble was delicious as well! awesome places with lots of interesting and delicious options! id love to come back to try more!

This is my go-to place when having lunch with my partner! Always consistent and yummy.

One of the BEST smoothie bowls I’ve ever had, wish I could rave about their service though 🥴<br/><br/>FOOD: I got the Dark Side Smoothie Bowl and it was AMAZING! It was worth the $20 ($22 after weekend surcharge 😢) but I really enjoyed all the toppings and the smoothie bowl itself was a fabulous texture that wasn’t too watery and the flavour was tart and all the fruits were extremely fresh and generous! It was a really unique smoothie bowl that tasted as good as it looked and I added a cheeky peanut butter on the side which went so well with it!<br/><br/>SERVICE: Lacking unfortunately, they were kinda unpleasant and seemed almost unhappy to serve everyone which kinda saddened me because it was a BEAUTIFUL cafe and for their amazing food, I thought a great crew would come with them.

Can’t complain about this cafe! One of the best cafe around the area! Innovative/creative menu and tasted amazing. I am totally impressed <br/>It’s a bit pricey but treat yourself every now and then 😎

Food is delicious and atmosphere is good too. Staff are friendly. The cafe is very cute and it's near brighton bathing box and train station.

Both cups of latte looks and taste weird and the stir fry is totally overpriced. No recommend <br/>
Benjamin Lim
Food is overpriced with fancy presentations. The taste is dissapointing and of low quality. I would not recommend the Pork Ramen as it had barely any taste. The spicy chicken burger was lackluster and the green bun was a total waste of money.<br/><br/>Would not recommend. Try another spot.

Didn’t particularly enjoy the loud music sitting in the courtyard. Coffee was yummy but serve size was small. The food really wasn’t anything to write home about. was looking for something a little more Melbourne and this cafe missed the mark.

This cafe has hip vibes, with music pumping and artsy modern decor on the inside. <br/><br/>Busy in the morning , with coffees and breakfasts - especially on the weekends. The atmosphere is lively.<br/><br/>We tried the Smokey Benedict with slow braised ham hock , Fennel celery slaw and sriracha hollandaise which I was excited for , but it turns out to be thin watery artifical looking pink dresssing insteaf of a rich natural reddish smooth hollandaise. <br/><br/>Disappointed by this whole dish - the slaw was not tasty and did no favours for the other elements of this dish<br/><br/>HOWEVER, the cakes and sweets available are delightful - the pistachio rasberry cake with cream cheese icing was so tasty and went great with our coffees.<br/><br/>I personally do not like the chai lattes here but the lattes and other coffees are a hit with many locals

One of our favourite brunch spots, love the pannacotta and the corn fritters. Coffee is good and atmosphere is nice. Nice range of pastries and donuts if after something smaller, the almond crossaint was pretty good.
Sense Of Food
Good food, good vibe, really colorful and pretty dishes. There were so many to choose from! But the prices are considerably expensive... But apart from the price, I would definitely recommend paying them a visit!

Only been here once and ordered the wagyu and a coffee. The wagyu meat was delicious, but I’m not a big fan of the green bun. Coffee was great.
Janelle
I chose this place to meet for coffee based on the Google reviews saying the coffee was great. So my rating and review is solely based on the coffee. <br/><br/>Unfortunately for me this place did not deliver the ‘great coffee’. I found my coffee weak with the milk overpowering the coffee. I prefer a more robust flavoring where the coffee is the hero. If you’re not into robust coffee then you may prefer this place. <br/><br/>The people I was with said the dessert was nice, not heavy. He had one of the muffins.

A lovely cafe, we went on a Saturday lunch time with a group of 11. The cafe was quite full but luckily we had a table in a short time. Heaps of food varieties on the menu, it took us awhile to make the final decision but it took us for more than 30mins to receive the first dish!! No drinks yet and the most disappointed was the kids meal! We didn’t expect them to be very fancy or special but at least, not as bad as that, please refer to the picture. The chicken tenderloin was so small and there was only 1 pcs with few chips for all, that’s $10!! We asked the waitress and she said that’s it should be, despite the menu says tenderloinS + chips. The whole dish didn’t taste nice neither and seriously it looked like a left over dish :((, sooo disappointed. I don’t mind you charge more but please give us a quality dish, please respect the small kids. <br/>By saying so, the other dishes are quite nice especially the chicken baos. <br/>
CharlotteJiang
Very colourful dishes, food tastes good! There are many choices of latte. Strongly recommend the blue smoothie, nice and yum. The atmosphere is good and staff is friendly.

The food at Brighton Soul certainly gives the Wow- factor as my friends and I were each presented with such impressive looking dishes! The cafe itself is relatively small and gets quite busy but luckily we were able to snag the last table just as we arrived. <br/>Not surprisingly, I was drawn to the corn, zucchini and feta fritters and was excited to taste Brighton Soul’s version of fritters. As expected, it was just as good as it looked. The green colours from the smooth avocado and yuzu mousse along with the perfectly cooked fritters made for such a well constructed and yummy looking dish. The piece of candied prosciutto was also a nice touch to the dish, and worked great with the fritters and poached eggs! <br/>Considering Brighton Soul’s extensive and impressive looking menu, I’ll definitely be back to try some of their other dishes.<br/>
Always Hungry
Just stumbled upon Brighton Soul as it was one of the places still open over Easter, and I'm so glad I did! The food was fresh, creative, yummy and so pretty! I had 'the garden', and my brunch buddies had the matcha pancakes and the croissant prawn scramble. We all loved our meals, the staff were really nice and it's a great spot in the middle of church street.<br/>Highly recommend!

Been there twice, always too busy. Coffee looks magical, but taste no coffee at all. Anyway, their main purposes are for taking ins like photos(not mine).
Chris Anders
Brighton Soul is a classic example of a cafe where Instargamability takes absolute precedence over quality of ingredient, and colorful plates are more important than flavor pairings that make any sense. In what world does a beetroot rosti pair well with avocado, tomato and capsicum salsa, goats cheese, and a dukkah/powder of unidentifiable origin? The answer; not this world. <br/><br/>Beetroot is only included to the "rosti" because someone wanted them to be red - and to be clear, I am only calling them "rosti" because the menu refers to them as such. These soggy dumplings in no way resemble the thin and crispy potato fritter of Swiss origin from which the crib their name. <br/><br/>The whole plate was swimming in water from a poached egg that hadn't been drained properly, and the avocado and yuzu "mousse" was completely oxidized - though the oxidized mousse can hardly be blamed on the obviously overwhelmed cooks in the kitchen. The menu is ENORMOUS, with 30+ items that veer wildly between Melbourne cafe staples like porridge and fritters to tacos, Banh Mi and "sushi".<br/><br/>I ask, why would a person buy average sushi from a cafe that does not specialize in the making of sushi when one could walk half a block in any direction and get themselves some perfectly serviceable Sushi Hub? But, this is the same question I have for those that purchase cafe hamburgers - which, of course, Brighton Soul also offers on your choice of a red, green or black bun! (another example of flavor taking a backseat to Instagram)<br/><br/>No cook should be expected to maintain a menu of this size and scope. It is simply not possible if freshness and quality are of primary concern. If this place is preparing its product as regularly as it should, the daily prep list may be staggering. My heart really goes out to the kitchen staff - Head Chef (or person who wrote the menu) excluded.<br/><br/>FOH service was fine. A little inattentive but pleasant. Coffee was wet, black and tasted like coffee.

Stopped here to grab a coffee and have ti say it wasn't the best coffee Ive had. Seemed to be burnt and really watery. Also got a muffin which was nice but certainly wouldn't get another coffee from here
Lil Porker
Such aesthetically and beautiful presented meals which are equally as tasty! I had the tacos whereas as my friend had the ever so beautiful Bird Cage. It was too beautiful to dig into (but we did of course). It’s also a plus that the coffee was delish as well. Staff too were also so kind and attentive!
LilMac
Insta worth brunch spot. Food is fun, colourful and fresh. The bird cage looked amazing, although the French toast lacked flavour. Chai bubble tea was amazing. The cafe has a nice fresh atmosphere with multiple dinning areas. Cafe is dog friendly, with dog drinking bowls located in the courtyard. Food and drinks where well priced.

The cafe is small and cute, staff are friendly, the cafe is clean and tidy. The dark side smoothie bowl is so refreshing and yum, the coffee was nice as well! :)
Feisty__Food
Definitely a cafe I will need to visit again! <br/><br/>Brighton Soul has an amazing menu filled with something for everyone- my friend and I both decided to order the 'blue hippie' bowl as we were so intrigued to see what blue algae would taste like. I was pleasantly surprised how tasty the bowl was! Very tropical and the toppings gave it such a great texture. Whilst $20 is on the more expensive side for a smoothie bowl, it was worth it as it was a generous serving!
Green Gourmet Giraffe
The menu has lots of interesting dishes but not a lot without meat or egg.  But they do have some pretty smoothie bowls and a beautiful Buddah Bowl which cater to vegans.  Who can go past blue noodles!  For the kids there is a special menu.  I was pleased they were happy to take the ham out and make Sylvia a cheese filled quesadilla.  She really loved it but was distracted by her Blue Unicorn Freak Shake!

A wonderful dining experience, all round. The food is amazing, and the dishes on the menu are creative and varied. The coffee is excellent, the service is good. The dining space is open and comfortable.<br/><br/>The only thing I can fault them on is that they would do well to invest in another toilet. They only have a single one for the entire sizeable venue! A decent queue can be seen on many an occasion.

I really like the creativity behind Brighton Soul's dishes. However, there is a bit of rich, intense flavour missing from the dish I had.<br/><br/>Ordered:<br/>🍄 Forest floor (v): roasted mushrooms, fried enoki, poached egg, parsnip mousse, sweet potato and beetroot rosti, halloumi, truffle oil ($21.00) <br/>☕️ DIY Ice Brew: Chai (Bonsoy) ($8.00)<br/><br/>Review:<br/>The fried enoki was a fresh concept and so fun to eat, along with the other crunchy snippets around the Forest Floor. You can never go wrong with halloumi 😍. <br/>Unfortunately sweet potato and beetroot hash - although necessary to break up the abundance of leathery roasted mushroom - was a little lacklustre in flavour and texture. Felt a bit more like a thicc patty of meh than anything else. Considering how much of the dish it took, it was a shame that this aspect of the dish fell short.<br/><br/>The iced chai was served in a flask which you DIY into a sieve and a cup filled with ice and... fairy floss! Strange combo but it wasn't bad to try at all. $8 is a little steep for an everyday kind of coffee, but if you venture out to brighton it's something to gawk and gander at.<br/><br/>Sitting at the back of the building meant although refreshing, and winding through the restaurant itself was cool, flagging down servers was a little difficult. They only seemed to come by when another table was being brought in/a dish was being out.<br/>Would've also been good to get (veg) key identified on the menu as well! I know it would definitely help some of my mates out with more stricter dietary requirements. Reading through the amazingly extensive menu becomes a little tiresome after a while.

Went for the first time ordered the red velvet latte. First it didn’t taste like coffee instead just tasted like milk.I’m not sure it is suppose to have turmeric In it as well. Ordered the pork belly. I was disappointed, the pork belly was deep fried and the crackling was hard and way oiler due to the oil absorption from deep frying.

Brighton Soul is always packed and for good reason, my first time being here and the staff were extremely friendly. While waiting for a table inside, the waiter lead to to a seat in the back with outdoor heating and even gave us blankets while we waited.<br/><br/>Not only was customer service a 10/10 but the food was so nicely presented and aesthetically pleasing, we couldn’t wait to dig in! The menu has a large variety to choose from and caters to many people. It has a quite a couple of unique dishes and specialty coffees. I have the say the blue smoothie bowl was one of the best things I’ve had in my life, so well balanced and refreshing to have amongst the savoury dishes. The huge milkshakes were fun and colourful. I ordered the baked eggs for myself and it was quite a large portion considering the small price I paid! Definitely filled me up and left me very satisfied. 1000% recommend everyone coming here for brunch 🥰<br/>
Agreekable
This is such a funky cafe! The food menu is almost like visiting Willy Wonkas chocolate factory! Everything is bright and colourful and absolutely delicious also to eat! The colourful drinks while the look good, these blue algae and beetroot lattes do not taste nice, would not recommend ! However, I would recommend visiting for the food and other items!

Have been here few times and there is nothing wrong about it. Coffees are on point, the food delicious and beautiful, the space and the staff are always nice. Definitely coming back until we tried everything in the menu.

Such a gorgeous little cafe, bustling with customers in all modern, beautifully aesthetic dining areas. Staff are absolutely wonderful and the food - gorgeous flavor, vibrant color, and astounding presentation.<br/><br/>Multiple vegan options. I had the Buddah Bowl with teriyaki tofu, blue rice noodles, zesty yellow dressing, veggies, and blueberries. It all worked wonderfully together to create a filling, tasty, and visually astounding meal. The menu its also constantly updating which means the venue will never lose its appeal of challanging you to try something different.
Coco And Vine
In Short: Brighton Soul Espresso allows you to indulge in all your foodie moods! If you want to be good, you cannot go past the Blue Hippy Bowl. If you want to be bad, get your lips around one of their selection of Freak Shakes to take you to your sugar happy place. <br/><br/>I have this endless dilemma of choosing what to eat when a new café or restaurant comes up on our list – do I be good and go #cleanandlean, or do I go all out and go #delicious? Well, let’s be honest, for someone that loves food as much as I do this is a competition between my naughty and nice side on a daily basis! But now, I have found a café, with a wonderland of choices to satiate whatever side ‘wins’ the food war battle in my belly. Throw in the fact that many of the dishes and drinks on this menu are totally and utterly instagrammable, and it doesn’t take much to convince Steve to head on down to satisfy his need of wanting more content of beautiful food.

Unique and delicious food! I love the fluffy matcha pancakes with charcoal and lemon ice cream! We ordered way too many dishes but worth it! {my photo kept disappearing from this review!}

Food taste great.. very creative menu and presentation. Good for person like me that gets bored easily with the usual breakfast fare. The only downside is the service. The waiter looks so moody and dont even bother to welcome customers with a smile.
Hungry For Chips
Great little cafe in the middle of Brighton with very cool vibes. The music was just loud enough to make your conversations not to be overheard and not loud enough to be annoying. And the good food and coffee never hurts either! We ordered the granola and deconstructed sushi. Highlights: beautifully plated and so full of flavour. Lowlights: service was good but felt a little disjointed. (If I had to be super picky!)
Savvy And Lifestyle
Awesome quirky place, they seriously have amazing food that is out of this world and something I would never think of, hats off to the chef and the creater of coming up with this type of impeccable food. The iced latte and blue noodle bowl went down a treat, even though the blue noodles do scare me a bit but overall was fun and quirky food.

Great food and service :) highly recommend the burger!!! Fast and attentive staff and great ambiance. Can be busy so get in early if a weekend!

This place has a colourful menu to offer. Cosy ambience and a perfect place for brunch.<br/>The staff was very friendly and the food tasted amazing.<br/>The presentation and the colours they put on a plate is definitely worth an instagram capture. The birdcage and matcha DIY iced was a highlight of the entire order we placed.<br/>Heads up, this place is a bit small so you might have to wait for a bit.<br/>All in all a must visit cafe.

Definitely a favourite brekkie catch-up place of mine. I love that there are so many options on the menu and they're all available all day. <br/><br/>There have been a few misses for me though - the brownie waffles.. I've had them three times now and they're wayyy too dry! The waffles themselves are alright (they are labeled as brownie, however, not chocolate, so please make them a bit richer/denser!) and guys, please don't be so stingy with the sauce - don't sacrifice flavour for aesthetic; that chocolate smudge underneath is doing nothing. Also, I kind of wish you'd get rid of that little cup of lime sauce/cordial syrup/unset jelly that comes with it. It just tastes like a melted green icypole and has no purpose but to somewhat alter the flavour of the waffles without enhancing it or making it moister. I promise it's not just me saying it; the girls on the table next to me had no clue what to do with theirs either!<br/><br/>Also, as much as I love the healthy alternative breakfast options, like the Buddha and Macro Bowls, I feel like they really honestly lack flavour and don't have enough dressing for the proportion of food. I'm not asking for an unhealthy dumping of salt or a tub of mayo, but a decent amount of citrus dressing would work wonders - the tahini and hummus are just too thick to really evenly spread throughout the whole bowl without getting a bland mouthful in one moment and an almost pasty one in another. <br/><br/>Lastly, I'd recommend you add a little more flavour to the coloured lattes you serve. I've noticed a few people on here commenting the same thing, as well as overhearing people on nearby tables. They're a bit gimmicky for $6 - I couldn't tell the difference between what was actually put in them, and a cup of warm milk with food colouring.<br/><br/>Overall though, I'm going to keep coming back and recommending this place because of the variety of dishes and great service. (Your wait staff do a wonderful job being so patient with all the pushy Brighton mums and their spoiled offspring rolling their eyes and blocking the footpath with their impatience at getting a table.)
Hungry Tum
Came here for breakfast. Note that it is a health oriented menu but lots of options for all types of eaters. Great coffee, friendly service and good food. One thing to point out is they don't use much (or any salt) in their cooking so you may need to add salt to your food.
Amy Zhao
Best breakfast I’ve had in a while. Never would have thought soy reduction and croissant can work but I have been proven wrong. 10/10 would order again. Busy cafe with great service and counter sweet treats also looked Devine with donuts from doughboys as one of the options.
Sweetoothbrunches
This place offers bright and theatrical food and drinks which will definitely impress. However, due to it's popularity and small interior expect to possibly have to wait for a table.
Dupinder Saini
This is second time I tried this place and definitely I be Back again to try more dishes. I had crispy chicken bao and it was spot on. Last time I had matcha pancakes. Great coffee. Great service. It was very busy still we didn't have to wait very long for our meals.
Everydayaussieblogger
Went and enjoyed a super yummy brunch. These steamed pork dumplings were delicious. Organic hot chocolate was also delightful. So many options on the menu I can’t wait to go back and try something else.
Willzie
Friends wanted to go because of their Instagram famous blue algae latte. Food was actually quite nice. Enjoyed the birdcage French toast. Miso scallops was good concept but the broth is not hot enough to warm everything in the bowl. Pork belly was ok. Service was not great. Dishes got taken away without asking. There was still a piece of pork belly and some lentils on the dish and the waiter just cleaned up everything.
Karin
Best lunch menu I’ve ever seen! Everything ranging from slightly different than normal to over the top! 😃 I am going to have to go back so many times to try everything! <br/>
Laine Lee
Cosy environment cafe, with good food. Those coloured drink lattes are lack in flavours in my opinion. Staffs were friendly and helpful in explaining the menu. Parking space for cars are easy to find. Overall a good cafe for a meal and coffee after touristing the bathing boxes nearby.
Yifanhe5
Just pick a random from the menu, it will surprise you! I’ll definitely visit here again! Prawns and chills has a unique taste, it’s a little bit like Thai food, but different texture. Anyway, I am glade there is a such fantastic cafe near my place!!!
HungryAgitos
Came here to catch up with a friend. Good ambience and the food was amazing. Price was expensive but worth it as food was delicious and presentation was superb! Definitely would come back again.

We almost didn’t eat here because it was so packed, but found the last tiny table in the back area. Service was fast and professional, but a bit cold, maybe because they were so busy. The food belongs in an art gallery, really. Everything was so visually appealing, and the eggs Benny was unveiled from a cloud of smoke under a glass lid. That’s about where the appeal stopped. The food lacked flavour, and where it did exist, it didn’t blend with the other flavours on the plate. The food was also cold, maybe because they were so busy they couldn’t get it to us when it was first ready. The dirty chai with almond milk was uninspiring as well. It was just so disappointing after seeing the high ratings and beautiful food snaps, and thinking it must be good with so many people there. I kept trying to like it, but it just didn’t happen.
Liang Lihua
Creative dishes ! The garden was impressive ! Will be back again. Me and my friend ordered taco and charcoal tea. The looking was very impressive.Taste was ok. We both took quite a few pictures and post on Instagram. I would say all the dishes were very nice just by looking at it. And this would be the perfect place if you not only enjoy the taste but also want to order something pretty ^_^
Dora & Craig
The cafe was pretty busy when I was there, the front of the cafe is pretty small and noisy, felt like I was in people’s way all the time. I only ordered a takeaway coffee, Almond cappuccino. The coffee they use is pretty sour and hard to drink. The Almond milk is nutty but not the best taste. Overall I was disappointed in the coffee and the atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing place! Stumbled upon it by accident when my friends and I were staying in Brighton for a couple of days. It's definitely one of my favourite brunch places in Melbourne for sure! The food that they create is so artistic and flamboyant. They certainly have a way with their food. It's also super tasty and just looking at the food makes me super happy! They have a cute courtyard that my friends and I sat in. It's decorated so artistically, and makes the atmosphere super cheery and bright. There's also plenty of space for you to relax and get cosy in.<br/><br/>Would 100% recommend this place to others (be sure to try out their monster shakes- they are just WOW)!!
Meuni
Had a lovely brunch on a Saturday morning. We were seated in the courtyard with a blanket and by the heater. The brownie waffles were delicious. The red velvet latte was good too. The DIY red velvet iced drink looked aesthetically pleasing but had no flavour to it. Would recommend this place as a good brunch spot!
Goodems
This place has what I think of as “instagram food” it’s a place people go to take interesting food photos, blue smoothies and such. The food is ok, I’ve been twice both times the food was ok a little bland or just had too much going on. I feel like it is more about the show than the taste. The service is good and the outside seating is very nice.
Melbourne Food Journey
After a walk along Brighton Beach, Brighton Soul provides the best way to refuel! Absolutely loved the Pandan Panna Cotta- finally a panna cotta dish that didn’t leave me hungry!! It passed the wobble test, and the pandan/ vanilla flavour was complimented perfectly by the almond matcha milk and passionfruit gel. As for the breakfast bruschetta, the highlight was most definitely the candied prosciutto and the crispy kale!! I am not one for kale at all, but somehow Brighton Soul turned kale into king of the dish!
Patricia P
Amazing! Would go back 100% <br/>The quality of the food was delicious and the variety on the menu was surprising. It caters for all kinds of dietary needs. <br/>The fried chicken bao left me speechless! Quality food! The chicken salad was very fresh and tasted also. <br/>Smoothie was delicious- great value for money! Standard latte was great also. <br/>Cannot wait to go and try the sweeter options on the menu
Who Loves Good Food
Agree with other reviews that their food is insta worthy. However, it didn’t back up with good tastes. Coffee was ok. Tried the charcoal latte, not a fan. Exciting menu but just didn’t match up to the expectations I was hoping. Just ok & not worth the price.
Sue
Friendly greeting, all the staff were extremely helpful. Food presentation superb and tasted even better. It's now my most favourite place. Menu is varied for everyone! Food looks even better than the photos on Instagram.

Stumbled across this place after the beach! Great cafe with amazing menu 🙌🏽 I had the avo three ways and wanted more. Also the iced coffee was to die for. Highly recommend going down there, pretty town right near the water. Loved it
Abigail Pinto
This place was described to me as an insta-worthy brunch, and I wholeheartedly agree! Presentation was spot on with vibrant colours and flavours to decorate each plate. I was feeling quite adventurous, so I ordered the blue algae latte and the Japanese matcha pancakes (with a charcoal-infused ice cream). The flavours were well balanced and complementary. Brighton Soul definitely deserves a revisit!
Lingyun Wang
The food wasn’t as nice as some of the pics as the plating changed a bit. It would be nice if the burger could be a bit more juicy. But generally was nice dishes.
Lisa Sargent
Great food, coffee and service. Would recommend to others. I had the Blue Hippie Bowl and it was delicious, my friend had the Buddha bowl and could not fault it at all!<br/>
FBriacliff
I used to go there every weekend, the dishes are innovative and great for instergram. But the taste of the plates are not as good as they used to be. The chips we ordered last week was unbearable salty, and when we mentioned this to the waitress she didn’t even take it seriously.
Just Ate
Great cafe, sat outside. Tables are sturdy and no wobbles which is a big deal when out on the footpath. Staff were polite and happy. Had the breakfast bruschetta. Which I rated and would get again. Coffee was good and quick to come out. Good sized menu will definitely be back.
Vivian
I was so intrigued by the unique menu here as I have been seeing the photogenic dishes pop up all around social media. The blue smoothie bowl which was the dish that caught my eye first was everything I expected and more, the smoothie was so fresh and there were so many hidden textures inside alongside the many fresh fruits .<br/><br/>The smash avo was one of the most unique takes on a smash avo I have seen and it tasted just as good as it looked. <br/><br/>My favorite dish however was the deconstructed sushi dish... just wow... cant wait to come back for it
Britney De Zylva
This place was so much more than what I expected. I find that, usually with brunch places, there's only one or a couple of signature dishes and the rest are a version of the normal classic dishes. Brighton Soul Espresso was anything but that. There was such a wide variety of options, I didn't know what to pick! Everything we did pick though, was amazing and extremely delicious! Their prawn tacos are unreal and have easily become the best my partner and I have ever tasted #tacoconnoisseurs, and don't get me started on the pork belly - yum! Their impeccable taste in music also helps sweeten the deal haha Can't wait to visit this place again :)
Fionn
Amazing food, by far the best smashed avo I have ever had! So different to anything I have ever had and the staff were really friendly as well.<br/>The crazy milkshakes looked incredible as well but we were so full because the portions sizes were so generous. We will definitely be back again

What a menu! Brighton Soul Espresso offers many great breakfast options, with varied savoury AND sweet options. The Birdcage dish (French toast with dragon fruit sorbet, passionfruit curd, mascarpone, candied nuts, and fruit), was innovatively presented and was definitely a head turner. For a sweet option it was not overbearing, and had an excellent balance of flavours; something that can oftentimes go awry with these types of dishes. The savoury Fill Me Up dish (smashed peas and beans, bacon chips, poached egg swapped for scrambled, feta, on sourdough) was a stand out also. Great savoury option. Interior was funky, staff were friendly and attentive, coffee was great. I can't wait to come back to try some other options. See you soon Brighton Soul Espresso!

I was attracted by the blue food on ins. Smoothie holiday s recommended, loving the fruit seeds when chewing them. Salmon taste good n mostly liked the carrots, crispy skin and sweet n soft pulp. For the blue hippie, it looks better than it taste.

Food was good.<br/>Music was too loud, Type of music was not appropriate for dinning places. <br/>Staff was asked to reduce the volume, was told that this is how it is. <br/>I ended up with a headache. Put me off and i will not recommend to anyone.

Love this little place. Every dishes we had was lovely. I love my pancake the best. If you are looking for good brunch in Brighton, this is the place. It is my favorite brunch cafe in Brighton now.

Always make it here if I have the time, one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne. They have a unique menu which is fun to choose from and the coffee is great. Good courtyard out the back where I can take my dog too! Very friendly staff!

I have been slowly making my way through the menu at this beautiful cafe. Last time I had the Matcha Pancakes which were absolutely delicious & flavorsome. Beautifully presented with the yummiest jam & ice-cream. Today I had the Fritters with the addition of their Cured Salmon. Unfortunately the Fritters didn’t have enough corn & were a little dry & dense but still not bad (Maybe it’s just not to my taste). The salsa was the highlight. Next time I’ll definitely be having the pancakes or waffles just to fulfill my sugar cravings. The only downside was that I ordered a Cappuccino but was given what looked like a Flat White with chocolate sprinkled on top, no foam (delicious all the same). The staff are absolutely amazing. They’re we’re so accommodating & super friendly & efficient, managed to fit me in on a very busy Sunday morning. There are 3 dining sections including a beautiful Courtyard. The food looks very Instagram friendly judging by the food being presented to other tables. Looking forward to my next visit.

Loved our brunch here and loved my blue hippie bowl especially! Super refreshing and very filling. If I were to picky, I thought the granola tasted a little bit burnt but at least it was crunchy :) we also had the matcha pancakes and the bruschetta that was devoured! Would definitely return as there are more things in the menu I would like to try
Plant Based Mum
Brighton Soul serves up food with plenty of soul - especially the nourishing buddha bowl...anything with tahini makes this lady a happy mummy! Plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options on the menu (plus some vegan options too). There is a fantastic little playground at Dendy Park, which is not too far up the road. @plantbasedmum_
Bayside Foodie
This has to be one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne. The food is amazing, I love how much detail they put on each plate even for the children. The drinks are spectacular and the staff are so friendly and helpful! Love coming here and trying something new from their menu. So much to choose from.

Cool little joint. There’s a nice little veranda area outside with some choice seating. Had he fritters or whatever, they were very pretty with their plating although this batch was a little unseasoned. Long Machiatto, not so much. Cute local though if you live in the area.
Good Food Good Mood
I applaud the intriguing sounding dishes and the fact this cafe is doing something different and exciting. The interesting and diverse menu is the reason I wanted to check this place out. Friends who are locals and regular attendees love everything about Brighton Soul so maybe I ordered poorly but I was not particularly impressed with my choice today. Mad about avo seemed like a filling option and as I was hungry I decided on this. I knew what it was going to look like due to the lady seated to the right of me tucking into it but the proportions on my plate were all wrong. The avocado to hash ratio was such that at the end of the meal I was left with a pile of avocado for which I had to ask for a piece of bread to eat with. I was able to spread the ample avo generously across the entire toast. <br/>I know I know the dish was called mad about avo and it was avo three ways but it was a little one dimensional in that the beetroot hummus on the plate was just a smear, most likely for colour and presentation rather than to add an element of diverse flavour to the dish. I do wish I’d gone with the blue hippie bowl which had been my original choice or the garden which I loved the appearance of. <br/>Smoothies looked good but at $9.50 for a very small glass seem average value for money. <br/>The unique meals on instagram reeled me in but sometimes things don’t taste as good as they look on social media.

Like all road trip adventures we always check out of our accommodation with a visit to a brunch outlet. Fortunately for us, reachable via a nice stroll from our Hotel, Brighton Soul Espresso was open and ready for us to devour- and devour did we!<br/><br/>Seated promptly with attentive service and genuine helpfulness and sincerity, Emily and I were first surprised by the pricing. There has been no brunch restaurant priced for so cheap EVER in Melbourne so we knew that we were in for a treat. Ordering the chicken and breakfast burger alike, with a side of the very fruity smoothie with strawberries and watermelon etc, this situated Brighton Soul Espresso as near the top if not the best brunch place we had ever been to.<br/><br/>The beef burger came out in a purple coloured bun that was simply amazing. Perfectly textured with a nice crunch and amazing flavour. The beef was very tasty and the eggs and fresh avocado were truly delightful to eat. The chicken burger was spicy yet amazing. Grilled perfectly tender and tasting amazing with the amalgamation of flavour. All of the flavours together were simply fantastic. The drink was also refreshing tasty very very fresh and nutritious.<br/><br/>This brunch was nothing short of amazing. We must emphasize that it did not leave us feeling sick at all, but instead very wholesome and healthy- satisfied with the lack of fat on each meal. There is no brunch place that leaves us feeling like this so it must be heavily commended. There is no wonder the people in Brighton look so well, if they get food like this! Spectacular brunch and definitely recommend.<br/><br/>Food: 4.5/5<br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>Ambience: 3.5/5<br/>Value: 5/5<br/><br/>Overall: 4/5<br/>

Interesting blue Algae latte, just tasted like warm blue milk to be honest. The bacon was nice and thin and crispy, the beetroot and sweet potato rosti was flavoursome but a touch overpowering, the avocado chips don’t work, you can’t deep fry and batter pieces of avocado!!!! <br/>

Nice place, good coffee right near the station. Reasonably strong latte, good value caffeine for your $4. Bicycle hoops just down the footpath definitely a bonus!

Hands down one of my favourite breakfast places! Really enjoyed the vibes, food & friendly staff service at Brighton Soul. We were seated at the courtyard as my friend had her dog with her. <br/><br/>For drinks, we ordered:<br/>• iced chocolate<br/>• konimi matcha japanese<br/>• nutella & oreo mega shake<br/><br/>For food, we ordered:<br/>• the garden<br/>• smokey benny<br/>• thyme roasted field mushrooms<br/>• beef cheek tacos<br/>• pork belly<br/><br/>Everything was just faultless. The service was prompt and we would love to come back and try their other dishes!<br/>
The Food Queen
We went to this delightful cafe after finding it on Zomato, looking at the fascinating menu and reading reviews. I ordered the Blue Hippy bowl - simply, heaven in a bowl, fresh, cold, fruity smoothie topped with sensational granola, berries and cacao nibs. <br/>My son enjoyed the beef burger which was eye catchingly gorgeous in a green bun, coloured with matcha tea. The soy latte also got a big thumbs up. <br/>Our Canadian visitor munched his quinoa Macro Bowl and declared we don't have cafes likes this in Canada and my 87 year old mum ate up every scrap of Mad About Avo - avo three ways. Her only criticism was the taste of the oil the rosti was fried in but a squeeze of lemon sorted that out. <br/>The staff are friendly, efficient and generally good to be around. We arrived at 12.45pm and got a table for 4 inside the front door. The news is clearly out as there were heaps of people wanting tables once the place was full.

I normally love and rave about the food here. Always recommending it to friends and family. But lately I thought I’ll try the more alternative dishes. Today I tried the breakfast granola and was taken back and confused when the dish was served up. It looks absolutely beautiful but taste wise- it just didn’t work. The overall texture combined with the different strong flavor combinations do not go together. Not sure how the Panna cotta and the matcha liquid blends in with the granola. It left a very dry after taste and hard to swallow. I tried to give it a chance but was pretty disappointed and had to leave 95% of my breakfast untouched. Ended up eating only the fruit on the plate and paid $19 for the dish. Each to its own but I feel this dish needs to be improved to appeal more to the general crowd rather than the alternative. Did not get a chance to take any photos as I left quite immediate as soon as the dish was served up.

What a unique, interesting, welcoming, lovely cafe this is! If you want the old classics as well as something a bit different, this is the place for you. They have a dog friendly courtyard at the back, and some seats out the front, then they have two large rooms of inside tables. Really love the set out and ambience of this place. It was so hard to choose what to order but I went with the Holiday smoothie (which was pretty and delicious), the Buddha bowl (which had your classics like smashed avo, sautéed mushrooms, grilled carrots, kale and BLUE NOODLES!), the chocolate freakshake (which saw me licking the Nutella off the sides) and the eggs benny with pulled pork. Everything was packed full of flavour, presented beautifully and really enjoyable. Attentive service too. I’m just sad I didn’t think to take some croissants, muffins and ginger bread home! Highly recommend this place!

The flavour of the food is not bad, some food looks good but taste bland. The coffee is nice though. And I think they really need to working on the staffs attitude.

Popped by Brighton Soul for a very late breakfast this afternoon (breakfast is definitely an all day event for me though haha) and was so amazed at the quality of food that I received! I ordered the matcha pancakes that came with a healthy serving of raspberry coulis, charcoal and lemon ice cream, chocolate soil and plenty of fresh fruit! The jump start smoothie was also super fresh and to die for! 👍🏻💯 Service was a bit lack lustre but who isn’t on a Sunday? :) Overall, great experience! Will be back again soon! ✈️
Love At First Bite
Brighton Soul is a cafe in Brighton, a suburb famous for its beach, trendy designer shops and now, it should be for a cafe that serves one of the most creative and interesting menus I have ever come across. I could not resist making the most of the great weather and popping by after a relaxing day at the beach.

"Mad about avo"<br/>Absolutely loved the idea of this dish. So creative and tasted amazing. Although would have liked more than what I got. For $19 I would expect more. The service was great and it had such a nice vibe. All the other dish was amazing too. Just think more is needed for the price you pay.
