Review The Pantry - Brighton

George Slavchev
We decided to try out Pantry for brunch on a Saturday. Although mostly full, there were a few available tables outside and we were seated straight away with water brought in. We ordered coffees and they arrived very quickly — nice and strong — really good. We then placed our food order and, once again, everything arrived within probably 10-12 minutes, which was great, considering there were a lot of tables to serve. The food was very nice — everything was fresh, the presentation was great, and everything tasted really good. They also offer a good all-day brunch menu, if you don’t feel like a breakfast staple. Overall, although on the pricey side, Pantry is really good, the service is good too, and we’d definitely go back to try something different.

A long time favourite of mine, great coffee, the best almond croissant and some very amazing dishes. Try the Kabir Scrambled eggs and Salmon set. Staff are very extremely professional, polite and attentive. This place is a must to visit.

Beautifully designed restaurant, the staff were very welcoming and catering. Food was also delicious but definately on the more expensive side (food does not equal cost ratio) they have great hot chips though

This cafe in glorious Brighton is a triumph. The lamb ragu fettuccine was flavoursome with a generous serve of lamb, beautiful al dente pasta and a delicious tomato-based sauce. The fitout is very modern, with plenty of seating both inside and out. The service was very friendly and helpful. What a great place to have had lunch for our short trip to Brighton.

I know I said I wouldn't return but I didn't choose the venue for my meeting today. The place was very busy. I ordered the sushi bowl and that was very good. The coffee was spot on too. Even though the place was very busy with every table full, they managed to get meals out in good time and coffees to tables whilst still piping hot. That is pretty impressive. I still think the food is a bit expensive but it's Brighton prices and there was a place full of people happy to pay those prices. I have raised my rating by one star since last visit. The female managing the front of the restaurant is pretty amazing at what she does. [From 5 months ago] Visited this place with my kids and 2 adults. The service was good and so too was the coffee. My ceasar salad was ok. The flavour was lacking the usual zing of this type of salad, bacon was quite fatty and I don't think the white anchovies worked. It is quite pricey for a salad when you can get a main salmon dish for a few bucks more. This salad should be no more than $15. I ordered a kids meal for my daughter. It was $11 for 3x small pieces of margherita pizza (see photo) with a few pieces of cucumber and bit of hommus. I thought kids meals were $5. She didn't eat it so that went to waste unfortunately. The other 2 adults enjoyed their meals which was fortunate. Overall it was a nice place. I would've preferred if the male staff member who greeted us didn't demand to see my covid certificate while I was holding my toddler and trying to unlock my phone to scan in. I had to tell him "can you give me a second!" I was flustered and rushing to make it on time with a child and my hands full. Just be a little more understanding when people are trying to scan in whilst juggling everything. I probably wouldn't rush back. I would stop for a coffee. The female staff members were very nice and very accommodating. Thanks to the ladies who served us, it made the experience enjoyable.

Such a busy morning for the restaurant but the staff are so lovely and so chilled. I came here to study and even though it’s full of people, front of house just kept on making sure I was all good. Such a lovely place to be. A must come-back! Iced latte was great and tuna goddess was so good

Great place with excellent food and service. The meals come out fresh and fast, only downside for me was it is on the expensive side.

My first time here. Very poor service. I am heavily pregnant and they sat me in a tiny table which I barely fitted in. Then I asked for water and they only gave me the bottle. I asked for cup and the waitress said she is busy to bring me the cup!! After 5 minutes of waiting she brought me a cup with lip stick mark on it. The food was very basic. I definitely don’t recommend this place.

This pizza was suppose to have buffalo milk mozzarella and basil... instead it had cheap grated Parmesan on it .. an Instead of having basil it was coriander ... What an absolute disappointment and would of asked for a refund if I didn’t get it through uber eats. $22 for a pizza that wasn’t what it claimed to be ..

Pantry has been a classic for street corner dining in Brighton for over a decade. Partly due to the menu, partly due to the street vibe, but I'm sure for people watching as well, as they drive by in their Range Rovers.<br/><br/>* Margherita pizza - love a simple classic and the tomato sauce really sings out with the fresh basil leaves. Portions of milky, creamy buffalo mozzarella are torn and place here and there. The base is quite uniform and has a good crispness and chew to it. <br/>* Baby cauliflower - very tender with a soft char, it was very well seasoned. The accompanying dip (eggplant?) was absolutely delicious, paring up with the cauliflower really well.

Amazing food and selection to choose from, caters for both savoury lovers and those with sweet tooth.<br/>Not only was pantry très instagrammable but it was delicious with amazing staff!

Always fantastic, always fresh-looking and constantly evolving.   We love Pantry Brighton whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner.   They recently reconfigured the main room and new back room / function room and it's looking great..  The food is ridiculously consistent and the service is, too.  You can't go wrong here.  Their expertise extends up and down the street to their deli next door, the Japanese takeaway (Hiro) and their epic Royale Burgers the other direction....which I indulged midweek.  I know this sounds like an ad for them but they are all that good and have such a commitment to excellence that it has to be noticed.

Pimped up toasties are my Jam! @pantrybrighton <br/>Ham, Cheese & Tomato 🧀🍅🍞 With a side of relish!<br/><br/>These guys are just EXTRA! But extra in a good way! Whenever I come here for a pit stop I always opt for the toasties cause they are just that damn good! Honestly try one for yourselves! You won’t regret it 👌🏽💯

Severely disappointed in my most recent outing to the pantry today. I ordered a ceaser salad, to try something new. The salad is ridiculously large, and over priced. The lettuce was too soft to grab with the fork, the serving size was extremely off putting. Less is more! There was only 4 chicken pieces in the salad which I paid extra for, not good enough. For $30 I expected a better salad especially from this establishment.

Pantry was very busy! Which we liked it definitely had a great atmosphere and the food was tasty! <br/>For me even though the food was really nice and hit the spot it just didn’t have the edge that other Melbourne cafes have. My mum and dad loves their food too! However, sometimes we don’t want fancy brunches and that’s when places like pantry are perfect.<br/><br/>The staff were ace and attentive. <br/>I would certainly go again for a more homely style brunch! <br/><br/>Dishes ordered:<br/>Mushrooms on toast with pumpkin, spinach and eggs<br/>Bircher muesli- very pretty <br/>The big pantry breakfast <br/><br/>
Liang Lihua
Ordered Bircher muesli. Linguine. Like it ! The table paper and the crayon provided, make it a good place for small casual meetings. Gonna go back and try other plates.
Sepideh Hozhabr
It was a very crowded place, which made us think that it must be popular. Staff were ok, not as friendly as one imagine they should be. The interesting point was that there were crayons on the table for kids to do painting on tables. I ordered spiced zucchini. It was cold and had no specific taste. The coffee was good. Overall, compared to its price, I would not recommend it.

Great dinner with the fam<br/>We started with <br/>Sashimi & zucchini fritter<br/>Then<br/>Pizza, salad<br/><br/>Perfect evening we loved it <br/>Will be back for sure<br/>Stunning place & food store next door has great produces

Went to the toilet and our adjoining table was removed and another person sat down by the time I came back. My Friends were not even asked. The place is like a cattle mart!

Very disappointing. <br/><br/>The place was busy, and staff seems friendly and after been ushered in the deli next door as there were no spare tables, we had a table in 5 minutes which was the time stated. <br/>We were seem to promptly and ordered 2 hot drinks and 2 meals (breakfast)<br/>So far so good. <br/><br/>This is where the service dropped. <br/><br/>It’s the first place I’ve ever been to were the breakfast arrived approx 10 minutes before the drinks. <br/><br/>We ordered an “Extra Hot” hot chocolate that came luke warm. <br/>We asked them to reheat it as we couldn’t be bother waiting for them to make another. It took 35 minutes to get the correct drink, needless to say both meals had been eaten by this time. <br/><br/>Obviously there is a communication breakdown between ordering and the barista making the drinks and the barista can not keep up with the orders.<br/><br/>The meals were presented very well and staff were lovely, but food was a lacking flavour. <br/><br/>If the drinks had been made correctly the experience would have been much better. <br/><br/>Hope this helps the business run a little better in future. <br/>

Had brunch here with friends and I must say it was busy especially when we went to leave closer to lunch. Decor is very modern and looks great. Staff were attentive and professional. Menu seemed to be quiet extensive. I had the chilli crab scrambled eggs which had flavour but were underwhelming with not much crab and the scrambled eggs seemed owner cooked an dry. The eggs Benedict were also ordered and the hollandaise sauce was watery. Coffee, tea and juices were all good.

No indication of whether it was a sit down or wait to be seated service. My friend and I waited at the front to be seated however out of the 3 or 4 staff members bustling about no one once asked if we needed help so after about 5 mins of waiting we walked in and took a seat at a free table. It took someone 30 mins to approach our table to see if we were being looked after.<br/>We received a half hearted apology and shortly after we walked out.<br/>Was super disappointing service!
MELB JOURNAL
We had a late brunch here and with a line out the door, we thought it was worth checking out. We were seated very quickly and I ordered the Mushroom and Peccerino and my partner some poached eggs and sides. The mushroom dish was lovely however the sourdough was so hard the knives provided couldn’t cut through the crust. The truffle peccerino was a lovely touch. My boyfriend asked for the eggs to be cooked medium (he doesn’t like when the whites are still runny) and they brought his dish out with no eggs at all. A mix up we presume, but when he got his eggs they were over cooked to the point they were hard boiled and the yolk was grey. A little off putting. The coffee as well wasn’t great. Overall not a memorable experience, however would return to try their dinner menu. <br/><br/>The next door delicatessen however is amazing! Love this place. It’s a shame the menu inside the restaurant doesn’t replicate that from the deli.
Nelly
I'm coming back and will be doing so regularly. I don't care that it's pricey. And yes it's pricey, but for this produce and how good it tastes? Why wouldn't I?<br/><br/>The service was also surprisingly quick, and it was packed to the rafters. It's clear there are many regulars coming here. Perhaps I will return for dinner tonight?
Diamond
Extremely expensive! Food was fresh and really nice. We ordered fries, linguine main, eggs benedict, orange juice, latte and Mocca. Paid $80!
Followthefoodmelbourne
While the Pantry is somewhat of a Brighton institution, it was my first time coming here and I absolutely loved it! I <br/>ordered the brown rice & quinoa porridge which had a fantastic texture and wonderful flavour - the perfect winter breakfast. The service was also very warm and friendly. One lady was even handing around dog biscuits to all the dogs outside. The atmosphere had a really lovely, homely feel to it. I can see why people talk about it so fondly.
FBriacliff
Love the spot and especially pastries they sell just next door. The pizza and pastas are getting too oily now. Have to try the scone, lovely.
MK
Horrible coffee and terrible service.Staff completely ignore you..I think they feel they are better than everyone else. Don't bother here it's overpriced coffee and food
Kady
This place was bustling with people and even had a line of people wanting to sit out front but I don’t know why. <br/>The food was ordinary. It looks pretty but lacked flavour.
Ben Carrington
Australia’s best cafe. Constantly innovating and adding new parts to their business; burgers, ice-cream, deli, Japanese and now a vegan bowls place! Who else offers that
CrazyMelbChick
Never again. We had the calamari main and linguini main. Meals were small, main prices, appetizer serves. Kids fish and chips for $13 was a shocker. Single strip of fish the size of a chicken tenderloin and a small cup for fries (with many broken pieces). My glass tumbler had a lipstick stain. <br/><br/>Service was good however! <br/><br/>But we Left hungry.
Tige
Quick lunch at this cool cafe. Barramundi was really tasty and very filling but over priced for the portion size. Poke bowl was also filling but again on the expensive side. Friendly staff and prompt service. Lots of good lunch options available, dinner also available. Might try them again for something special to eat.
Bella Grand
Love this place. The staff are so lovely and the coffee is great! <br/>It’s nice to see a bit of variety and point of difference on a menu!! Their Caesar salad is something special
Split The Bill
Had a delicious breakfast here with friends. Its always busy, staff are lovely and work well together, food is delicious as well. I had the kabir scrambled eggs with chilli, garlic, smoked potato was a lovely surprise, my favorite herb coriander, avocado and a toasted roti. It was delicious however, its Brighton prices $22.50.
Tannar Stevens
Been here twice in two weeks the first time the food was nice but service ordinary then the last time Ordered the kabir scrambled eggs and had the LONGEST HAIR through it and again service terrible they forgot to bring out some of the order and just so hard to get there attention when sitting outside. Also was given half ass apology for the bad service and nothing about the hair in my meal . Wouldn’t go back in a hurry
The.Top.Lifestylee
"Kabir eggs"<br/>Nice combination of ingredient. The place had a lovely atmosphere. Although service wasn't good. Also very over priced for what you got.

Been to Pantry numerous times now (at lest every week for the past few months) I must say I absolutely LOVE their avo toast. It has pickled baby peppers, goats curd and fresh herbs in a salsa verde. It's really fresh. The one complaint I have is it's very small. For $21 it only comes with one egg and sometimes only a few pieces of avo. So there's not much protein going on to fill you up, meaning I have to order an extra egg and extra salsa verde. <br/>It only falls short about 4-5 mouthfuls off filling me up. Sometimes when I ask for extra, I end up will too much! Gorgeous gorgeous meal though, which is why I still go. My boyfriend loves the mushroom dish too, and I've also been here for dinner which was also great. Surprised at the average rating on this site as it's a great restaurant with great food and a nice busy vibe! <br/><br/>I recommend you pay Pantry a visit.
Angel
Superb lunch! Great local family eatery. Their table covers with large butcher paper where kids can enjoy the novelty of drawing on the table with big crayons. Kids meals are large servings where one pasta can be served by two children. Cannot fault the food and the service. Only area of improvement is the cleanliness of the toilets by the close of lunch service.
FoodieGuru_770
The Pantry staff are always friendly, helpful and try to serve. They seem to hurray you a bit on the table (ie to get out) but the corner establishment of the restaurant, deli and japanese a clever idea. <br/><br/>I had the sardines which were tasty and the spinach disappointed. It was rushed out and seems to have been sitting there in the bayonet. <br/><br/>The restaurant I think don't make the sides for the breakfast fresh there and seem to have it pre-prepared - probably early in the morning. This is off putting and I prefer to take a little longer to be served and have it freshly made. <br/><br/>They have a good array of newspapers and the kids are able to draw on the paper table cloths. <br/><br/>It is a good place to go if your in the area.

Decent food and nicely presented.. just ridiculously expensive. Good place to go for a coffee. Always busy and good service. The food store is great too- but expensive.
Michelle
Just had a delicious lunch of miso salmon, topped off with a great cappuccino. Dad had the roast lamb, feta and mushroom sausage rolls, and Mum enjoyed the calamari, which had a spicy zing! I can only think that the Pantry has a rating of just 3.0 due to the price - service, food and ambiance were all great :)
Byron's Vanilla Slice Blog
Boasting three options of vanilla slices in this elegant cake factory I opted for the lesser spotted brulee-topped slice. The burnt brown sugar had a lovely richness to it, but got lost in the overall consumption and was only noticed at the very end. The custard oozed out between the robust and darkly baked layers of fresh, golden pastry. I often criticize under baked , soggy pastry, but this was almost too well baked (if there is such a thing). The custard itself was a wonderful consistency of fresh whipped cream, vanilla and a slight egg thickening agent. All in all a tasty and worthwhile slice at a reasonable price. Perhaps I should have selected the fondant icing version for real comparison.
Nay Nay
This place is more a fancy restaurant than a cafe. Super cosy inside with dimmed lighting really sets the mood and vibe. Lovely staff and a great menu. Loved the whole experience! Great coffee and equally good food. Great presentation and a well balanced dish. Only small negative was the price and quantity!
FoodieAboutTown
A Brighton local for 20 years, The Pantry is a fantastic little hub of food with the main restaurant surrounded by my favourite Burger spot – Royale Brothers, a mouth watering deli with a crazy amount of amazing food to purchase and now a sushi spot too! It’s pretty busy on a weekend, even early on a Sunday with lots of families and babychinos. We are lucky enough to get a table for six inside and I have already perused the menu and picked my breakfast.

Yummy food very nice service good coffee <br/>Food came out fast <br/>It's pretty expensive so don't go if u are penny pinching. <br/>Plenty of crisp newspapers <br/>Really nice fit out and design feels more like a restaurant than a cafe <br/>Will return <br/>Also good burgers next door
Hank
Waitress (young, working lunch shift 5 March) had a well developed "don't care" attitude. Food was good but service and wait time unacceptable when they were not overly busy.<br/>
Rumbles
Kabir scramble was quite alright, better off cutting the roti for us if it's in a bowl though. Coffee leaves a lot to be desired from a place with such potential. Staff seems keen to get bums on seats though not entirely attentive. Missed an item from our order.
Roshanak Samadirad
Fantastic place, great service, nice food, a bit over priced<br/>Great vibe, good quality, love the place always prefer to go back there when in area.
IEatThereForeIAm
Don't go if you are expecting good service. Entree's came reasonably quickly then the wait. 3 of the 5 mains eventually came (lamb)  then the remaining 2, steak and roast chicken, came around 10-15 minutes later. Pretty shabby - not even an apology. Other tables around us that arrived at same time or after served and gone before all mains on table.
Good Food Good Mood
<br/>Had breakfast with some friends on the weekend and took the opportunity to sit outside and bask in the sun. I had a poached egg on toast with avocado, tomato, salsa verde and goats curd which at $21 was starting to creep into the pricy brunch territory but I suppose it is Brighton darling. By the time I added my juice I was pushing $30 just for me and for effectively one egg and a piece of bread. They have an amazingly droolworthy cake selection which I am sure most people who live in the area wouldn't actually touch. Attentive staff and a nice interior but the menu is nothing too exciting. Then again The Pantry is often buzzing with the beautiful Brighton set and quite frankly if it's good enough for Bec Judd it's good enough for me.
Ju7iet
Wait staff were attentive, prompt and nicely mannered, very pleasant<br/><br/>Unfortunately the food I ordered was not up to scratch for the price. I ordered vegetarian eggplant lasagna $29.50, what arrived was a vegetarian lasagna with a tempura/fried slice of eggplant.<br/>My son didn't get any dessert as part of the kids menu which was $17<br/>The burramundi $32 was salty and onions on the side was raw. It left an awfully smelly mouth.<br/><br/>Overall food is overpriced.<br/>
Fra424891
Menu was really average. $26 for a burger and the side of chips was ridiculous. it was served in a paper icecream cup. that gives you the idea of how little the side was and how cheap they are. they don't even buy ramekins! Had to send the coke back twice because it was flat and we ended up just having water because it was just a rip off. $6.50 for a side of "tomato and avocado salad" which was 3/4 of avocado and 2 cherry tomatoes drenched in oil. We were better off going to subway! $46 just wasted.
Alex Wang
Went there at Friday night, it is full so we chose to seat outside. Great service and food. Dishes have been prepared carefully, dinner main is stunning and delicious. Shall recommend it to my friend.
Simone Dax
Terrible, waited 55 mins for a bowl of soup when the place wasn't busy. It came with a toasted sandwich was burnt and they used the two tomato ends in the sandwich which still had stem on them! Very disappointed !!
NZAURUSS
Me and my wife went there today (Sun, 06 Nov) for a casual lunch. Took a table outside. Very crowded place - it was lunchtime. Ordered soup of the day with a cheese-and-tomato toastie, and a beef burger. Waiting time - reasonably short, quality of food - very good! Service was prompt and friendly. Prices - rather high-ish, so to speak....Overall - not bad. <br/><br/>The only drawback (for me!) - many dog owners think it's OK to bring their pooches with them...Dogs sniffing around and picking up scraps from the floor looked disgusting, nearly put me off my food. However, if you don't mind that - go for it.
Noodle Guy
I think people are going here if they need to be seen or they have something to sell.<br/><br/>Food is OK, big serves but a bit expensive, coffee is awful. <br/><br/>But the whole vibe is fun, so I suppose that's why it's popular

I've been going to the Pantry off and on for nearly 20 years.  <br/><br/>Back in the day, I had some of my Best Brunches Ever there, and from sentimentality, nostalgia, or just plain stupidity, I keep coming back.  Unfortunately, it's become the kind of place where the wait staff don't look at you (making it difficult to order), the food average, the ambiance sterile, the coffee quality inconsistent.<br/><br/>Today, I had a unripe  avocado, goat curd, cold poached egg & faux salsa verde, whilst my partner ate cold eggs benedict with odd hollandaise & slimey packet ham.  A fellow diner, who politely requested a plate instead of a small bowl for his toasted sandwich, and had to ask three times to be able to put in a coffee order, was give an extraordinary display of bad attitude.<br/><br/>After 20 years, I think it's time to retire this place from our brunch rotation entirely.
TheHungryCouple
We have walked past Pantry in Brighton countless times and always go in to the Pantry Gourmet Food Store drooling over all the beautiful looking cakes, array of delicatessen items and variety of fresh authentic looking dishes. Pantry has modern decor and that pretty & perfect look. Pantry also has an ice cream scoop shop, donut stand as well as food store, burger bar and Pantry dining room. The service is very quick, the staff are friendly even if they do try to rush you and get quite impatient when you haven't made a decision even if the store is completely empty. <br/><br/>TIP: Do try the Lemon Tart- our absolute favourite!
Convivialsins
hmmmm okok not ur typical run of the mill kinda place.. an in between swank high st eatery.. average for mains is $40!!! Bread is $13!!! <br/><br/>But having said that, the mains we ordered were fantastic! Very yum!!! and service was great! Not pushy very friendly and efficient. We ordered the linguini and the salmon. The sauce in the linguini was soooo good I had to refrain from licking the plate! Am no culinary expert so won't attempt to describe the flavours. The prawns were fresh and plentiful. The salmon had a crisp accompanying soft moist centre. Only complaint we had was it wasn't enough.. it was soo good that after finishing we wanted more!!

For anyone looking to work for the pantry, be warned ... They are notorious for having people do "trials" simply to fill in for the odd shift here and there. Those who are "lucky" enough to make it to employment, if you can cope with their floor manager more than a couple of weeks, your tolerance level is clearly very high. <br/>Otherwise, food looks alright. <br/>Coffee ... Lavazza - say no more. Melbourne's coffee connoisseurs will know to look elsewhere.

First visit today, nice atmosphere. Food and coffee were good, I had mushroom which i enjoyed . Prices were very steep though. Paid $4.20 for a tea which is too much if you ask me.
Alana Camm
I really like the ambience and the fit out of the restaurant. The breakfast I ordered just didn't hit the mark in terms of expectations. I think they're doing a great job though and definately have a big following so good for them!!
Zuma Sinclair
The Pantry Is a super busy cafe where people go to be seen. The food is nice & service is quick but they're very quick to get you moving once you're done as there's a line of customers wanting your table. Quite pricey for what you get.
Jeff Bennet
This place used to be a lot better. Food is too overpriced and its not worth it. Plenty of other restaurants close which would be an option. Not too bad however
Laura
Overpriced food for what you get, feels a bit like a rip off. Average coffee too, plenty of other places in Brighton so won't be going back here.
Salt
Went in here for a relaxed breakfast on Saturday morning and found the menu and the staff to be an absolute delight. It was at the suggestion of a driend that I had gone in, he had spoken well of the food. Tried the Kabir Eggs and loved them. There are a lot of places trying to do their take on the spiced eggs but this just took eggs to the next level. Loved it !!<br/>Keep up the good work guys!
Wfkib1
Decided to try this place out despite what I had already heard, ordered the avocado on toast with eggs, was not worth what I paid for. Overpriced for very small portion. Also they treat their staff horribly had 6 people I know leave their workforce refusing to ever go back due to the way they were treated.
Reuben Wilson
Service was really really pleasant this morning. The waitress that served us is just lovely. Although the quantity of the food for the price was not huge, the quality of the food was really quite good. Everyone has their own preference on coffee, and I feel like the brand of coffee that the Pantry uses brings the overall product down a bit. Lavazza is nothing more than mass produced, cheap coffee. It's not fresh and the delivered product is stale. It would be good if the Pantry perhaps considered a fresher, more unique alternative.
Gary P
Aweful experience.  Went on Sunday morning, ordered coffees.  They didn't turn up for 20 minutes.  The waitress who took my order asked if we had received our coffees.  I said no and she said she would check.  She came back and said something had happened and she had resubmitted the order.  Coffees didn't turn up for another 15 minutes.  I advised the same waitress that we were leaving.  Her care factor was ZERO.
Amy Tatosyan
I always loved this place and food is amazing. Only thing they droped the portion size for the money you pay. In the biggest plate the food gets lost.
Laura Ahearn
Wouldn't bother coming back here. Looks busy when you go there for breakfast, but what I ordered was way overpriced for what it was, and ripping a piece of toast in half to make it look like two pieces is really cheap.<br/><br/>Waiter was extremely rude and looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked for a piece of toast, everyone within a cafe environment KNOWS that you provide two pieces for a $23.00 breakfast, not one. Thanks for charging me extra for it as well after I advised you I wouldn't pay for it. Cheap and rude.
BaysideMummy
The deli is a joke. Over priced. Rude staff. The layout is so dumb you can't even get the staffs attention because the fridge is so tall. The mark up on food is extortionate such as the cheese. All the vegetarian dishes contain some sort of animal product eg chicken stock, fish sauce etc. what's the point?
Melbourne Foodie Girl
I had a pizza here not long ago and didn't finish it. It was under cooked and lacked in flavor. It's crazy how so many places can't get pizza right!! <br/>I mean come on, it can't be that hard, just make sure it's go a punchy flavor, it's fresh and got crunch!!
Jacob Hilton
Nice little place. I like to bring my kids here as the menu is accomdating for that. Price is not so good however. The scenery and atmosphere is good here which I like!
John Newton
Love how they do breakfast all day here the food is nice however the pricing is too much! Its a shame as i cant afford to come here much! Still good though.
Mike
Food is great! The Owner 'Dan' is a fantastic operator and host! Fantastic ambiance. Great for families as well! We all love going there regularly.
Samantha Doesn't Sit On The Fence!
The fact that there is an all day breakfast ticks a few boxes for me. I've had breakfast and lunch a few times here and no complaints. Today I had the salmon salad. Good size and tasty too. <br/><br/>Great for kids (the ham/cheese toastie was almost as big as the child). Good people watching too.
Işın Gizem Çelik
The money that they've charged for that breakfast, it wasnt worth it. I had better ones. Got the pantry breakfast with mushrooms, bacon, hash brown, eggs and tomato pieces. And that plate came in front of me 5 minutes after i ordered. I thought its probably cooked them and gave it to me instead of someone else. Its really impossible to make it ready in 5 minutes. Cause my green juice arrived 15 minutes later. Hash brown is just a disapointment. It was oily and just dont taste good. There was too much ginger in my green juice so i couldnt finish that at all.
Sandy Do
Soooo good! I came here for breakfast with my family on our first morning after landing in Melbourne. Fast and friendly service and even though it was so busy our food came out fast and so fresh! Very impressed! Definitely will be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family! :)
Ser
The deli has some pleasant food and a good array of cheese. Have to say the mark up on the cheese is quite comical considering the same versions are sold at the local supermarkets on the same street for MUCH less $$. <br/><br/>Got takeaway schnitzel from the deli and it tasted realllyy weird! It was $13.50 for a piece of chicken which in hindsight was a stupid amount to pay but IDK what kind of chicken they use but it tasted really odd and not nice at all.
Marina.sha2
We went here for breakfast with a group of friends. A couple of us ordered the big breakfast dish it was so unpleasant that we both left it ... My toast had a sauce that didn't belong to my dish which contained something I am not supposed to eat. This just shows that there is lack of hygiene and allergy practices in restaurant. My friends egg was raw it still had raw whites there. The mushrooms were covered in something unpleasant. We both left hungry and unsatisfied. I highly recommend the Brighton Schoolhouse down the road the food is much better quality and the kitchen pays attention to detail.
Angie
Had the porridge for breakfast here. Was satisfying and yummy. Price is a bit expensive but I guess it's what you'd expect when in Brighton.
A Food Fable
So on the Sunday of our Melbourne trip back in June, we had breakfast at Finn Cafe, and saw the St Kilda Esplanade Markets and Brighton Beach Houses. By that time, it was around noon, so we had a small lunch at:. Address: 1 Church Street, Brighton VIC 3186. Open: a bit complicated but daily breakfast and lunch, and dinner on Thurs, Fri & Sat (see detailed hours).

Excellent latte! Too bad their umbrella was broken so we had to handle some more sun. I recommend the soy capuccino too. Never had food here but I heard it is really good.

Really pantry how you have changed. This is what happens when you take your customers for granted. The big breakfast featuring 1 plain tomato with a sprinkle of cheap dried herb, 1 supermarket hash brown, a pesto wiped mushroom, an over cooked bacon slice and 2 slices of plain white bread. Seriously I can do 100 times better at home and I have no training. At least I would offer my guests cracked pepper which seems to be too high brow for the pantry, more no name from the Coles across the street I suspect. Add to that a coffee that finally arrived when the meal was almost finished and a waitress who had to be asked twice for cutlery and it's a never again experience. This place you once went to for a creative approach to eating, now I leave feeling angry.

Feeling like a spot of brunch or something more? Whether it is something light like a croissant or something more filling, this great little spot in Brighton is amazing! The food, absolutely delish! You just can’t go wrong. The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and trendy (without the we’re too cool for school feel). The staff are so lovely, personable and very efficient – and they all rock denim shirts – this place really sets a certain standard. They have a lovely outdoor area, not too small so it is easy on most days to get a seat outside with your pup!

This place is always busy but don't take that to mean anything. Visiting for lunch, I had a lamb on Turkish sandwich, which was just about the most oily thing I have ever eaten. Given the $20+ price tag, I was pretty disappointed at both the portion size and the quality. The staff also looked like they were hating life and couldn't even manage a smile. I would also recommend the venue rethink their outdoor seating arrangements it's near impossible for pedestrians to move past the venue without bumping into tables and add in the cyclists leaving their bikes outside and you have a whole raft of traffic issues that even Vic Roads could prevent. Won't bother with a repeat visit.

Have been here a few times and tried their breakfast fare as well as the lunch menu. Food is always ok but never great. This time I had the quinoa salad and it was more of the same. Bland and ok are words that come to mind, oh and dirt, yep there was dirt still in the carrot tops which got into the rest of the salad.<br/><br/>Service here it's always sub par. You practically need a bell in order to get anyone's attention. We were seated and forgotten about altogether.<br/><br/>Their burger place next door is consistently great but makes me wonder, maybe this is because it doesn't require table service and the menu is limited.

Gorgeous looking Brighton restaurant. Above and beyond the very funky decor, Pantry delivers some delicious, fresh food if you're willing to overlook the price tag. If you're willing to try something a little different and really indulge, you will leave Pantry a happy customer, albeit a little poorer!

We didn't know what we were expecting at the Pantry, although we are regulars at Royale Brothers' burgers next door (also by the same owner). All we know is that Pantry is the more grown-up (read: expensive) version of Royale Brothers, meaning it serves "grown-up" food, as opposed to burgers only. I was feeling adventurous on the day and ordered the Warm Salted Barramundi with asian herbs, bean sprouts, apple salad and nam jim sauce...

Very disappointed with the restaurant for the second time (Their Deli next door is much better though). First time weekend brunch, this time weekday lunch. Always seems busy but don't know why?! Staff are rushed off their feet so service is particularly average.<br/>Reasonable quality ingredients but portions are really small for the very large price tag. I think it is always as busy as it is because the owners can get away with it in Brighton, they wouldn't in other suburbs. Shame on you! Won't be coming back again.

<br/>Upgrade your morning at the Pantry. Frequented mainly by its residents, this café/restaurant is the place to be seen in Brighton. Good fare, however it's a little on the pricy end of brunch. The owners do have their hand in a lot of pies though, with a delicatessen, Royale Brothers & now Hiro Sushi bar in the same tenancy.

I came here today with a friend, no one saw us when we first entered, we stood around looking and where still not seen so just sat down. Waiter was polite and informative, we had a coffee, and the nachos to share. Coffee was good nice and hit the nachos where quiet big and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere was great but staff need more attention to customers and detail.

Staff seem to be a bit blunt and don't seem to care much about customer service. The food is average for the price that you are paying. The outdoor area is nice however it's super loud inside to get away from the cold.

Rude staff, lousy service. Don't understand why people come here. I've been waiting 45 mins for breakfeast this morning and have tried to get someone attention and keep getting ignored. First and last time. Better alternatives down the road.

Healthy take-away alternative. I see the restaurant does not have a great fan base, but we only went as far as the deli. While the take-away salads from the deli are not what you'd call inexpensive, they offered a healthy and much more enjoyable alternative to a fast food dinner after a tiring day.

Had delicious dessert here on a Wednesday afternoon. We ordered some cakes which are made from the quaint cake store next door, and we were not disappointed. Even though the place always seems to be busy they were able to accommodated us quickly which was great. Staff are friendlly, but the place seems to have a bit of a pretentious vibe from the Brighton crowd that dines here.

Worst dessert and poor attention to minor details!. Went to Pantry for dessert and coffee and was not impressed by the lack of attention to the little things. For dessert I ordered the chocolate pudding, which I was told was the best dessert on the menu; this was not cooked properly with the sponge being seriously underdone and the chocolate having a floury, uncooked batter texture; YUCK! When it was served I was given a teaspoon to eat it with! When I asked for a dessert spoon, I waited another 5 minutes before it arrived. When it was actually presented to me, I was give a tin can of dessert spoons, sloppily chucked on my table for me to fish one out from. When one of my guests ordered her flat white coffee she scooped 4 heaped teaspoons of froth from the top; hello, it's a FLAT white, basic thing to mess up. All in all, the inattention to the little things was very unprofessional coupled with the horrid chocolate pudding, needless to say I will not be going back. The staff, while having an air of friendliness about them, seemed to be a little laisez faire about their service.

Coffee was absolutely terrible, scalding hot and tasted like water. Staff were cold and inhospitable. New management needed

The Pantry - church street. Date night at the Pantry. <br/>My entire experience was disastrous. Service was extremely poor and waitress and waiters were clearly too busy and didn't care. <br/>We ordered our entree to share and we didn't get plates after asking twice. The waiter we asked for plates walked past us 3 times but didn't give us a thought! They don't make any eye contact almost making it impossible to get assistance. <br/>Asked for few extras to add to my mains to 3 different waiters walking past but the extras didn't come. <br/>Ordered desert menu which didn't come. <br/>Staff behaved rudely and abruptly. <br/>Def won't reccomend to our friends. <br/>We are locals and we are very disappointed with the service. It ruined my night and I will think twice about giving them my business. <br/>I'm pretty sure they don't care about about providing good service anyway. They are more concerned about filling the tables then looking after the patrons. I have spoken to few friends today and they have had similar experience there. <br/>Food was good but not worth the poor, below standard experience.
Stuck In Transit
We headed south of the city over the weekend and stumbled across the Pantry in Brighton. They serve an all day breakfast until 4:30pm, which we took up as there wasn’t a great deal of selection on the lunch menu. The restaurant is quite diverse in terms on services, including a deli, cooking shows and outside catering.  SERVICE Service today was that of a cafe standard, rushed and impersonal. The waitresses simply came, took your order and brought your food with no conversation. The food did come out within 10 minutes of ordering, which was quite impressive since the restaurant was full, however we did have to ask twice for some water, however nothing to critic about. FOOD The menu offers a variety of typical dishes to choose from and lacked any adventure dishes to try. We started with the  Pantry breakfast consisting of two free-range eggs cooked to your liking, bacon, tomato, roasted mushroom, hashbrowns, sourdough toast. For $23, you didn’t get much.

The options are gobsmacking; from gluten-free, vegetarian, dairy-free in preparation, to the myriad of cheeses, fresh salads, hearty meals, breads and of course, tantalising cakes and sweets. There is something for everyone, for every occasion, whether it be a simple take-away lunch or a take-home meal for a lazy Sunday afternoon gathering wit

Asian inspired salad incorporating beautiful coconut poached chicken, crunchy slaw and candied nuts. The Ancient Grain Salad was an absolute stunner with its tempting

This place was so busy it was awesome. I only had a coffee but I felt like I should have really had something to eat. All the food that I saw being served around me looked delicious. The cool thing about Pantry was that on each table there
