Review Thaicoon - Brighton

Josh Katz
Used to be good, completely changed. Ordered through Uber eats because they don’t offer delivery themselves anymore. Satay chicken was cold and came with a tiny satay sauce on the side. Didn’t bother to put it in the chicken themselves. Pad Thai and chicken was cold when it arrived. Pad Thai was trash, just dry and tasteless. Asked for 2 sets of chopsticks which was ignored. Lost a loyal customer

Delicious local Thai, lovely owners and staff. Highly recommend coming here, BYO also. Thank you for a lovely dinner.
Rachael Angley
Tasty Thai with byo wine. Kitchen is a bit loud and in your face though, I’d say it more catered for take away. Would definitely get take away from here. Wouldn’t come back to dine in though.

The massaman curry and pad thai were delicious! Nothing special with the chicken entree. The food servings of two dishes were good for two people. Service was fast and staff were friendly.

Very happy with the food. Brilliantly hot, super tasty, simple but complex. Have to tell the truth my son and I only went there as we got a carpark out the front in church street. BUT a great and surprising hole in the wall. maybe not for a party of 8 but for a tasty meal it rocks. Thanks

Came to dine in around 7pm on weekend. The food was really good but I would give service is 1 star. We ve been served by a lady (probably manager). She seemed just ignored us for what we asked for (I can see a racist attitude here as she always very prompt response with other customers).

Yummy Thai food, good service and friendly staffs.

I had Salt and Pepper Calamari for my entree. It's crispy at the outside but the calamari is so juicy. Then I had Tomyam seafood and Somtam (green papaya salad). The food reminds me when I had it back in Thailand. I can taste the authentic recipe same as in Thailand. The owner really friendly. The service is really good. The price is affordable. Definitely I will come back.

Pretty and kind manager!!

Top quality Thai restaurant. Generous portions, always consistent. Beef chilli stir fry with chilli jam is my go to, nice chicken stay starter too. They always use really fresh ingrediants. I live locally and come back all the time

Thaicoon is located on Church Street in Brighton, right near the station. It’s a simple set up inside with some seating for guests but they do a roaring trade for take away & deliveries. I’ve had both take away and delivery but have never eaten in store.

Their Pad Thai is my favourite, they use chicken breast which is my preference & a lighter flavour but it’s also packed with veggies & noodles. I’ve also tried the Green Chicken Curry which again uses the leaner breast meat & has a decent kick to it. The Massaman Beef curry is also delicious with slow cooked, melt in the mouth beef in a rich coconut sauce with sweet potato.

Thaicoon offer fresh, tasty & generous servings at a reasonable price especially for the area. I’ve always been impressed with the food & it’s been consistently good.

Good for a quick takeaway, nothing really special. The Tom yum soup is greeting sour then before for some reason, not sure that’s good or bad.

My favourite yellow curry in Melbourne! Spring rolls and other sides are also very tasty. Good to have BYO wine, and the staff are very pleasant.

Great food, the chilli basil noodles with prawns are amazing and so is the Pad Thai , very friendly staff and reasonably fast, definitely our favourite Thai in Melbourne

It's a very nice little Thai place with great food, I ordered red curry which was fantastic but rich.
good friendly staff and service. recommended.
Sera Braun
Best beef massaman curry going around in melbourne! The red and panang curries are also delicious! Pad thai doesn't have many veggies thought but besides that really great!
Kim Lever-kehne
So disappointed, pad see ewe consisted of noddles a bit of egg(enough) 3 pieces of Bokchoy 3 pieces of chicken and to much oil. Veggie spring rolls were full of oil.

I am a local and have eaten here on a number of occasions. Eating in- the pace, smells, service are great. Quick, discount for cash, fresh flavours, not overly expensive and a good listing of dishes. However, for the last 2 occasions I have taken out, the first time it was overcooked and bland, the second I had asked for a little it of heat to a mild dish and it was extreme hot and uneatable. Shame! I would advise to eat in.....

Great place for takeaway or a quick meal. The Pad Thai is standard, but the Pad See Ewe, Chicken Salad & Satay are delicious. 10% off if you pay cash while dining in is always a great touch. The place is very small but great to watch the chefs at work.

Amazing food! Always deals for this place! Was lucky enough to have the 50% off for Tuesday in April. staff are friendly, food is amazing. Like seriously good! Will come back even if there's no deals!

Really nice favours cool little place however there's only a few tables inside and a big arse kitchen taking up most of the space! A few tables outside however bit weird not that nice...

Way too expensive for the place, it is charging stupid prices due to the location.

Great curry puffs

Better roti than Thai saffron

Staff a bit non nonchalant

However the waiter did pop back and poor my water when empty which was quite surprising when Some other restaurants won't even give you more water when your bottles finished.
Chris
Food was very hot so I knew it was fresh. Flavoursome and wholesome, however not what I'll call a cheap eat.

Service was okay, but I feel it didn't reflect the ambience of the restaurant.

Would I return? Yes, but for takeaway as buying over $30 has free delivery in Brighton area.

I ordered fish cakes & cashew nut Chicken
Conisseur
Very intense Thai flavours here with a good selection on the menu. Although a little bit squeezy, this place is consistently on the mark with its did and service

The food is amazing and the girls are lovely! My favourite would have to be the cashew nut chicken stir fry and the curry puffs! The thais milk tea is great as well.

Massaman beef curry is outstanding.
Friendly staff. Seating space a bit tight, but excellent Thai food.

WTF is the reason behind min 140 char reviews??

I've been to thaicoon twice and also had home delivery. The flavours are fantastic, really clean and authentic. The staff are lovely and service is pretty quick - will definitely continue to visit and I hope others do too, especially if you like spicy food! (If not, the menu will direct you to mild dishes)

Amazing authentic thai!!!. I just tried Thaicoon on friday and went again on sunday! It is such amazing fresh thai food and the staff are beautiful. I am so fussy when it comes to thai as I travel there every month and hate the "thai" watered down food for aussies. But Thaicoon is beautiful it feels like you are eating authentic fresh thai full of flavours. The meat was all amazing and cooked perfectly I defiantly recommend trying it! The curries are to die for!

Fantastic food! Great staff! Great little place. Highly recommended

Delicious!. Recommended by a friend and Thaicoon certainly did not disappoint. Softshell crab is to die for, so is the massaman curry.
will be back!

Nice surprise. The first time I've had food home delivered in my area, and first time I'd eaten from Thaicoon. Food was delicious and arrived 30 mins after I'd placed the online order. Special care was taken to ensure it didn't spill on the way.
Will become a regular feature for us.

TOO MANY CARROTS AND ONIONS.
I really have a problem when Asian restaurants bulk out there currys or stir fries with a mile of cheap unauthentic vegetables and 3-4small pieces of meat.especially when they are charging Brighton prices and not Springvale.prices.
Not the most comfortable restaurant as the kitchen takes up 3/4 of the space.
On a positive note flavours are ok.

We will be back.. Will we be back. YES!! Why? The food was fantastic. Tasty, authentic, and uses high quality ingredients. We had the pad Thai and no joke, it was the best I have had in Melbourne. The prawns were perfectly cooked (most restaurants over cooks them) and it was noticeable that they used high quality noodles, which gave body and texture.
Other dishes I would recommend are Choo Chee salmon, barramundi with green apple salad and satay chicken. Get in quick. We will fight you for a table when we come back. :)

Best Thai in Brighton by far. Wow! This restaurant has been a great find. Food is fantastic - fresh, flavoursome, with some things on the menu we had not had before such as the soft shell crab. The entries are excellent, and the curries in particular are outstanding, clearly made with quality ingredients.
The restaurant is tiny so either get their early or book. The staff are friendly too, but the food is the real standout here. Prices are reasonable, with a discount for cash.

An absolute winner!

Great food and great service been there a few times and always hits the mark

I loved it!. Soft shell crab salad was one of the best dishes I've had! So fresh and tasty! Lovely staff very attentive.

The Best Thai food @Brighton!. Amazing! I didn't really expect much when I firstly went to Thaicoon. I was tremendously surprised by the overall quality of the food. The restaurant offers a good selection of delicacies to choose from and the dish arrangement is wonderful, all within a very reasonable price range. The place always seems busy on Friday and Saturday when I go. The service is fantastic and very friendly, I would recommend this place as somewhere to go for authentic Thai food. The Massaman Beef curry is especially Yummy! and exactly what it tastes like in Thailand! Highly recommended! I'll be back.

Tasty authentic Thai food!!. This is a dry good place to visit for the good food. I do a lot of Thai food over Melbourne and this is the good place to go. Even this place is small but there is a warming and friendly services from all staff there. Also, the delivery and take away food are very worthwhile with their price and quality. I do very impressed for the food and service. I believe that this Thaicoon restaurant will be marked for all food tasting person and will be the hugely popular place soon.

Great thai food, one of best in Bayside and there is plenty of good competition.

We go regularly and tried most but I love yellow curry.

Curries tend to be lighter than others and use sweet potato quite a bit whereas others use carrots for bulk vegie and we prefer sweet potato.

Well managed, good service, byo $2pp, credit cards....but food really worth the visit

LAKSA LOVE. Iv been here a couple of times now, absolutely love the chicken Laksa, starting with the golden tofu entree. Nice Decor and attentive staff! Cute little joint where you can enjoy a candle lit dinner!
Urban Foodie
Food was sickly sweet and curry was gloppy. Their brown rice isn't brown rice just white jasmine rice mixed in some purple coloured rice. Very cold in restaurant. Will not be going back.
Mr.geersgeer
Enjoyable. Amazing Thai, had a nice lunch of BBQ beef and soft shell crab. I Will go back again later!:)

Fantastic Thai!. I recently had dinner at Thaicoon with my friends and we were all extremely impressed. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was excellent, and the portion sizes were also quite good. The open kitchen added to the atmosphere. We tried the Kaffir Lime Chicken entree and BBQ King Prawn, Choochee Salmon and Chicken Chilli Basil mains. The flavours, freshness and authenticity of the food were amazing. The restaurant also caters for takeaway and home delivery. Would recommend booking if you can. Highly recommended! We will be back.

Incredible! Amazing! Fabulous! Can't say enough good things about this restaurant! It's so delicious, fresh and authentic. The food is by far the best Thai I've had in the bayside area and I'm a huge Thai fan! I've had the 'fresh rolls' 'deep fried chicane wings' 'basil chilli noodles' 'green chicken curry' and the 'satay beef noodles' all of which have impressed!

Could not fault Thaicoon B.... Could not fault Thaicoon
Busy Friday night and food was amazing
Pity it does not have room for more sitting

Thaicoon, located at 119 church st Brighton, is a wonderful and authentic thai restaurant. With fantastic mouthwatering dishes, created with fresh and colorful ingredients, and super friendly staff and service. A must if your around in Brighton. Also i can say that is served up the best pad thai in melbourne. The pad thai had the perfect balance of spice, pepperiness and sweetness. If you love thai food and spice this the place to be.

Best Thai in the area. Authentic, fresh and we'll be back.
