Nice ambience, smart open kitchen, good space and well managed noise levels so you can actually enjoy a conversation. The chef has an impressive CV and we also had had some recommendations through a friend so we were anticipating some good food. Osteriya delivered.
The entrees were tasty and the mains delicious. The pasta is made fresh daily by the chef and is excellent. The squid ink risotto with tender squid pieces was a standout for me. The orange roughy, fish of the day, was super fresh and very well cooked. The slow cooked lamb was exceptionally tender and my partner gave it a big thumbs up. All the flavours were authentic and excellent. Serving size is adequate and appropriate for the quality of the ingredients and the expert cooking, however presentation on some dishes was lacking.
The service was friendly and efficient. Overall, Osteriya is a winner.

I have now visited Osteriya twice since it has opened and each experience has been a fantastic one. Both times I have visited I have been with a group of 6 or more people.
Both visits we started with a range of entree’s to share and we asked the wait staff to bring out a few different dishes. The quality and quantity of the entree’s were absolutely spot on, the Prosciutto e Pate being the definite highlight for me!
For mains, you cannot go past the Tagliatelle Bolognese. The pasta is made fresh daily by the chef and is right up there with the best I have had! Serving size is generous especially for the quality and price point of the dish.
The slow cooked lamb shoulder is also a winner and I highly recommend this dish if you don’t feel like heading down the pasta avenue. It melts in your mouth and will leave you talking about it for weeks!
For dessert, we shared both the strawberry tart and traditional chocolate pudding. I was really looking forward to the chocolate pudding, however the strawberry tart hit it for six and would recommend that as my first choice every day of the week.
Quaint fit out, friendly staff and relaxed ambience, mixed with amazing authentic Italian food, makes Osteriya an absolute winner! Can’t wait to get back again!

The wines were great and very reasonably priced.
I travelled Europe recently and had the best meal of my life in Florence. We went there 4 times and got home thinking we’d never find anything that would compare... then we got home and discovered osteriya. The best Italian meal in Melb by far - I loved the Bolognese with the roasted potatoes. Plus the amazing wines, staff and ambience really topped it off!
It used to be just Cicciolina for Italian in Melbourne, now you can add Osteriya to that list. Absolutely Devine food and great wine selection. Service was super welcoming, a must!

A lovely space to enjoy a beautiful dinner. Loved the lamb shoulder and was also sneaking a few spoonfuls of my boyfriends risotto, which was delicious. Have already told all my friends in the area to visit!
I had an amazing experience when I went here for dinner. They food was incredible, certainly nothing like it in Brighton. My partner was talking about the lamb shoulder for days afterwards whilst I am hanging out for my next visit for the broad bean salad.
Staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Great little spot that's just opened up in a small group of shops. Sardinian potato stuffed dumplings were superb. Nice selection of entrees as well 👌🏼
