Review The Royale Brothers - Brighton

Patrick
Seriously tasty fried chicken burgers are very hard to go past. Not over the top, but focusing (and excelling) on the core aspects of a damn good sandwich.
Bryce Farman
Spicy chicken burger was delicious and not too spicy. The price was decent for the food, however the service was poor. Part of the order was missing and when the staff were confronted they told me the extra money I spent was for a holiday surcharge instead of the fries I ordered. As this surcharge was never advertised or mentioned to me, it was quite disappointing to be told that I had to pay for the fries a second time. I don't mind a surcharge but the way it was handled was quite poor.

Not sure what the hype is about. All 3 burgers were cold, bacon uncooked, chicken cold, buns stale. $5 for half a cup of chips. Terrible
Sandra Rozenblat
Incredible! Absolutely delicious. Fresh, tasty, not overly oily. Lovely staff and quick turn around. Honestly just look at that burger 🤤

A great for Burgers - also have great ice cream and creamy shakes. Stopped on a 30 degree day after a hard exercise session. was very crowded there, popular place line moved fast

Tried big bird as I was working in the neighbourhood. Great burger and it was bursting with flavours. Nice location. Good for takeaway or afternoon lunch. Not a lot of seating.

I Had order dinner for my family online and noticed one of the burgers wasn't added to the order - the driver was on his way to pick it up. I Called them and spoke to Eliza, she made sure my order was corrected. Customer service at its finest.

Had the Bacon Royale Burger which is very good. It is very cheesy and tasty. The burger patty has a nice char which makes it crispy on the outside. However, the patty is thin so it's cooked well done and is a bit dry. The chips are cooked to order so they are very crispy and delicious.

Always end up feeling unwell when our preferred burger joint isn’t open and we’re desperate we order here. Always feel sick! All of us. Burgers have come along way. Brighton heads don’t know good food so they think it’s special.
James Doria
I am yet have a better burger than the ones The Royale Brothers have to offer. Does not leave a heavy feeling in the stomach afterwards either!
Boiled Venom
The ‘ring of fire’ is the hottest option for the wings and it’s about as spicy as mayonnaise. This is the definition of white people food.
ShawM
This is the second time I decided to give Royale Brothers a try. It always has such good reviews but the two times I have been there the food has been below average. Today the burger was stone cold and tasteless. It was a bit disappointing for the price that you pay for the meal. It still surprises me that it gets such a high rating..
Breakfast_Adventurers
If you’re after a decent burger then you have no reason to look past The Royale Brothers in Brighton. A fast and efficient service and great consistency in their burgers this is always a top spot I always consider! <br/><br/>Soft buns, juicy meat, flavoursome sauces and cheese pull goals, what more could you want?
Lewis
I don't understand why this place has such a high rating? I ordered the hot wings and a burger. On the wings I chose to go with the most spicy topping option which I was looking forward to being a fan of spice, however the wings were not spicy in any way. 2 minute noodle seasoning is 10 times hotter. So yeah maybe don't market it on the menu as spice which blows your head off? Also the burgers are bland, no flavour in the meat and cheese and the buns fall apart. The local pub does a better job of a burger, or go to Mr Burger if you want a premium burger experience.
Timeroz
Loved the burgers. The hype was justified in the taste of the burger. We mostly all had the Royale with cheese. Personally I felt that the onions were over bearing but the quality of the ingredients was evident in the taste. The one thing that brought the place down is the wings which we all agreed were below average.
AmgBurgers
Unbelievable flavours. One of the best in Melbourne. Definitely a little costly but for the occasional meal, happy to pay. It was also huge as a double. Didn’t need fries
Nischita Nataraj
One the best veggie burgers I have had here. Had Hippie Royale. They have a pinto bean patty and that makes the difference! Burgers size is just filling. Felt that they could have added more veggies to it. <br/>Had that nice town experience in the evening sitting ousting Royale brothers.

Used to love the burgers here but find them now very ordinary. My chicken burger was soggy and over seasoned. The setting is still great, especially on a warm evening.

Flavourless burgers!! I was so excited to try these burgers as the rating is so high!! I ordered the normal burger and what came out was a mayonnaise mess!! Cheese had no flavour and the pattie was so bland I’ve had hungry jacks that tasted nicer
Cam
Disappointing decline in quality over the last year. The burgers use to be moist and hot. Recent visits give me the impression that burgers are partly preprepared. Meat has been overcooked and dry.

I only ever have the Pony Boy, and frankly, it is the burger upon which every burger has since been measured. Why I even bother going anywhere else is my bad. And those crunchy chips! Could there be anything more satisfying than a juicy burger with a side of the most delicious chips, enjoyed outside on a sunny day whilst watching the Brighton populace go about their posh business? I think not.

Royale Bros is a bustling little takeaway joint that proves super popular with the locals on a Friday night.<br/>Each and every ingredient and component used in their burgers and ice cream are simply top quality, and the careful execution is evident in every bite. This in turn, made for a thoroughly delicious cheatmeal from start to finish, and is definitely one that ranks amongst the best in Melbourne.
Greenavocado0428
Burgers were great when originally introduced since then the burgers have become overpriced, soggy and are overpowered by sauce. Overall the ratio of the burger is no longer great.
Foodlover101
This place used to have really nice burgers and a good selection of different flavors. I used to always get the double or the triple joker as the flavors were so good who wouldn't want the biggest things on the menu. However now the most recent times I have been going there the food has been horrible.. burgers have been cold, buns are now hard and taste old. hopefully, they go back to how they used to taste.
Molly Ernestine Boiling
overall the experience here was good. however, I ordered the veggie burger and when I opened it there was a piece of bacon inside. the staff were super nice and apologetic (got a new burger, free chips and ice cream) so no harm done.<br/>the actual burgers themselves were very nice.<br/>there's nowhere to sit inside however, so on a chilly day you might not choose here as your first choice.<br/>want to give this place a 3 1/2 star rating.

Favourite Burger Place in Melbourne.  I love the Royale with Cheese, and it has caused me to become a regular here. I also love lickings ice creamery directly next to it, and often accompany the burger with one of their delicious milkshakes.
Hrhuljak
Very delicious burgers, however long time to weight food. And the burger sometimes look rushed. There is no place to eat inside it’s all out doors.
Goodems
Good burger and service. Perfect for quick grab and go food. Pricey for a burger but I would say it’s worth it, they are very high quality.
Meeohmyohmel
Our FAVE burger place!<br/>If you ❤️ a saucy juicy burger 🍔 then this is the place!!<br/><br/>Eaten here numerous times since they opened and it always delivers 👌🏻<br/><br/>Their grape 🍇 slushy is the bomb! 🤪
FBriacliff
Great place for treat food burger. I order the fish burger every time even I don’t really enjoy fried fish. Just last time, the fish did not taste that fresh. Have to try the milkshake!
Hungry Jr.
Best burgers I’ve ever had. Better then the famous Betty’s burgers. To compliment the amazing burgers you have the best thick shakes with perfect chips.
Mariambra Giromini
Severely disappointed by the food. After reading that The Royale Brothers is rated one of the top ten burger places in Melbourne we were expecting much more. No flavour whatsoever in any of the ingredients of our burgers: bacon royale, spicy royale (not even spicy) & kids chicken burger (too dry). Buns were soggy and "cheese" half melted.<br/>Chips ok. Nice staff though.
K.jones
burgers were bland and over priced got the spicy burger but one had a small peice of jalapeno inside... also had to wait half an hour. and no indoor seating. so ate outside in the cold. very disappointed. will not return.
Paul Delaney
This place would be up there with Melbourne’s top 10 burger places burgers are awesome so tasty and fresh and top notch chips and great service have been numerous times and never let down can’t wait to go back again
Ben Porter
Good quality food. Got the Bacon Royale and chips and it was brilliant. The bacon royale had a good blend of the sauce, salad, burger patty and bacon. Chips were great but you cant really stuff up chips. Food came out very quickly.
The Hunger Trail
Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>We ordered the Crispy Fish burger, Bacon Royale burger, Cookies and Cream thickshake and chips to start. This was the best fish burger we've had to date. The fish was crispy on the outside and very tender and juicy on the inside. It was definitely pleasant surprise. The meat burger was also enjoyable and the thickshake was refreshing. We liked the flavours in the thickshake so much we went back for a second (mint this time which was also nice) and also picked up a scoop of white peach icecream to go.<br/><br/>Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>We did not have to wait long for the meal and the staff were friendly and polite.<br/><br/>Price: 🌟🌟🌟🌟<br/>Reasonably priced for the quality of the meals. This burger joint is one of our faves and we are definitely happy to pay and return for more.
Kevin
Pretty good local burger joint! Buns are nice and soft and the meat is nice and juicy. Love the sesame bun and they put plenty of sauce which is good. Chips are standard but also nice and crunchy. <br/>The only down side is that there is very limited seating so it is always a grab and go place. <br/>It is good enough that it still keeps me going back!
4theloveoffood
Stopped here for a quick snack of chips n then ordered ice creams to take down by the water. Defintely worth the visit...the ice cream and sorbet is to dieee for....certainly a must do when in Brighton

How can you say no to a burger!? <br/>This place has a great line up of delicious burgers located on the corner of a stunning suburb. <br/>Came here with mates for a casual lunch. Really good vibes, nice staff and of course tasty, tasty burgers! Yum!
Bigfatfoodie
Mmmmmm yummmm<br/>Their chips are so cheap and sssooo yum...pair it with their special spicy tom sauce and voila!<br/>Once your done go next door and grab an icecream...absolute heaven!<br/>Yet to try their burgers 😀
Sijia Liu
Best burger ever eaten! We ordered pork jerk and bacon royale and two corn of ice cream with vanilla, salt caramel, pistachio and espresso flavor scoops! Juicy pork! salt caramel tastes great and really surprised me!
Shizuko
The royal cheese burger, fatty but tasty. Buy one with a drink, hanging to Brighton beach, enjoy summer day with lovely burger, good life, yummy burger.
Steph_Eats
My all time favourite burger joint. My fam and I will make the trip to Brighton just to visit this place. The burgers are always perfect! Juicy without being oily or overly saucy. The chips are amazing too. You can tell the food is made with top quality ingredients- you aren’t left feeling gross & sick afterwards. Can’t say enough great things about Royale Brothers- highly recommend popping in for a meal.
Sosihdheheus
Best burgers in Melbourne no doubt. Have all sorts of burgers and they’re all amazing. The only slightly bad thing is that it’s a bit expensive but definitely worth it.
Kayla
Food • • • •<br/>Service • <br/>Ambiance • • • •<br/>Price $$<br/><br/>The burgers here are always yum, and it's a pretty fun pastime lining up for burgers at Royale. The staff are kind of nice, but some have a "couldn't care less" attitude and don't make eye contact or smile. On our most recent visit to Royale Brothers we ordered burgers, chips, condiments and drinks to takeaway, however were very disappointed when we arrived at our destination to find out we didn't get given one of our chips or any of the sauces that we ordered.
Willtravelforfood17
Delicious burgers - only problem is there is limited seating. Love that there are slushies to go with the bugers esp on warm nights. The burgers may be slightly pricier than others but that is because they use wagyu beef.
Mo
Good burgers, apparently among melbournes best. Quick efficient service, using buzzers to notify when food is ready. Outdoor seating area. Burgers start at $12.50. Refresher towel in the take out bag was a nice touch- no sticky fingers after eating here! Lickings next door is good for ice cream too.
Elise
Their burgers are consistently top quality, with fabulous shakes (I highly recommend the cookies and cream). Favourite burger bar in Melbourne.
Grace
Amazing consistency with the quality of burgers. Perfectly cooked and worth the money. Quick waiting time for the food, with super friendly staff!
Alano
It's more of a takeaway burger joint. The seating is out in open. There is some shelter but all of it is without any outdoor heater. That's makes it very cold to sit and eat there, especially in the evenings.<br/>I got myself a hippy burger(veg) and some chips.<br/>Burger was great. Decent size and taste. Didn't smell of meat. <br/>For $13.50 though,, idk,, it's a stretch to pay that much, without the chips, and eat in freezing cold. It wasn't fun at all. I don't mind grilld's burger and sit there a lot more comfortably.<br/>Chips were chips, nothing wrong with them, didn't knock the socks off. Spicy tomato sauce was more of a thick relish, not bad though.
Kim Hennig
Stopped off for takeaway and was so pleased with this burgers. Patties is moist and great flavour. <br/><br/>I have to say this is a really great burger. Chip size bit on the small side but overall great burgers. :)
Baysidefoodie
For sure best burger in Brighton, cheap, quick, good quality meat except chicken, <br/>But the slurpee was ripped off when you know 1$ you get the same in 7, will be my only burger spot in Brighton for takeaway burgers.
Parker
For a premium burger experience it was just okay. I found the meat patty to be quite thin for the price. I will give them another go as it seems really popular.
Gazzler
Consistently solid burgers. One of the best in Melbourne. Standard burger could perhaps just be a little bit larger.… Otherwise I recommend it!
Adamalta
Cool vibe at this burger bar. Eat outside on a sunny day - if you can get a spot because its always busy. Royale with cheese is my go to here.
Phil Joho
Not much spice in the "spicey" Royal, but nonetheless a very tasty burger. I would rate the burger a 4.5 for flavour but unfortunately its the size that lets it down. I cant believe other reviewers are saying "big" and "massive" (wait, what??) - this thing was about big mac size (or even smaller) which is pretty poor for $13.50.  I wanted a bite in the car, but was so disappointed with its size and look I had to take a pic. Note, the dents in the burger are from their packaging.
Roshanak Samadirad
very nice burgers, fish burgers are a must try....<br/>quick service, tasty food, have tried different things, they're all good. highly ecommended.
The Dear Luncher
When The Dear Luncher eats burgers, he eats them with guts and determination. The Royale Brothers have built up quite a reputation for themselves and are conveniently only just down the road from Your Dear Luncher's location. Excellent proponent of the burger craft, well worth a visit. Seating options limited which is somewhat of a drawback.
Eye 4 Food Melbourne
Initially when first opened the burgers were great and made to perfection. But as time went on the burgers were made very lazily with burger falling apart when opening. Apart from those factors the burgers are extremely nice and tasty. Don't let the price sway your purchase the portion is equal to the price. Overall a good burger.
@twogoodtoresist
We were so happy when we stumbled across this food truck! If the pickles weren't enough to draw us in then the delicious smell of their insane burgers certainly did! We also know a place is extra good when they have great veggie burgers too!
Nic And Zoe Eat Stuff
Always delicious food from here all round. Big burgers but packaged accordingly so it doesn't get messy. We've tried probably just about all of the menu excluding the double royale and absolutely loved every experience.<br/>We'd come here with friends as it's always quick, reliable and easy. <br/><br/>Prices are a bit steep, but contextually to the area they are relevant, and seating is minimal nearby so you have to be on the prowl if you want to sit nearby.
EmLou86
Delicious burgers at a pretty reasonable price. I went in a group of 6 and the service was efficient and the food well cooked. Would go back again and again.
Silvia Sk
Pretty happy with the burgers here. Had the royale with cheese and it came with a really good milk bun that wasn't sweet. The meat inside was cooked well and had good flavouring. They are massive burgers and we'd been recommended the royale double. Very glad I went with the single as I definitely would not have been able to finish a bigger burger. The chips were really delicious and I loved the complimentary sauce. I recommend the shakes as well
Adrian Damen
Love Royale Brothers! The burgers are so delicious, tasty patty, nice soft bun and plenty of sauce, what more could you want!<br/><br/>I recommend this to everyone! The only negative being that it is an it pricey.
Nathan
I have been here twice, however I have had vastly differing experiences. The first time rewarded me with a slightly above average burger and an okay milkshake. The second time, however, was the single worst milkshake of my life. Not only was it artificial as all hell, but both my girlfriend and I had upset stomachs for hours, and diarrhoea for weeks. At no exaggeration can I warn you more. Do not have the milkshakes here, for your good and the good of your bowels.
Azusa
Husband love burgers so off we went to Royale Brothers. We had the fish burger and a classic. Very good burgers and i think melbournians are spoilt with burger choices. Wont hesitate to go back and one of the best part is the ice creamery next to it! To choose between fries and thick shake was hard!
Armin Muminovic
The picture doesn't do this justice. Had the Royale with cheese and as the name suggests it's very cheesy. These guys were once in the top 10 burgers in Melbourne and I can understand why.
Chris Woo
Always have the Royale with Cheese... amazing. Although most people I take there don't believe just how good they are and don't but one. I offer a bite and then all of a sudden... 'whoosh' my burger is gone. I'm going to have to start buying two..!
Mr Food
Definitely the worst burger I've ever had. And I've had a lot. Had the chicken burger which is made up of stale bread + dry tasteless chicken. Eat at own own risk, or if you're going to pass out from hunger. Only reason why the rating I have given is not any lower is because I could stomach finishing the burger.
Rachel Lee Read
Delicious burgers. Quite a hike for us but worth it. It wasn't overly busy when we are there either which was great. Will definitely be back when in the area again <br/>
Cheeseburger Anyone? "Where's The Sauce"?
Came here about 4 years ago. I remembered not really liking it but wasnt too sure. So we decided to drive down an taste again..<br/><br/>I ordered the royal with cheese.<br/> 1: bun was very chewy and had a stale taste.. but i think thats how it was as i remember it being the same last time. <br/> 2: beef patty was cooked well, over cooked in some spots and was thin but not a bad tasting one.. . Had seasoning which was good. Unfortunately couldnt really taste the cheese!! Infact i even tried it on its own and it had no taste...Aaaaand, not enough patty for the size of the bun. The lettuce was fresh and crunchy iceberg. The chips Overall were pretty good! Crunchy and salty! Side of gravy tasted like s#it ! Old left over fat with pepper. Yuck! Overall it was eatable.. but wouldnt get it again. No wow factor for me. But i will give thumbs up to the chips and fresh crunchy lettuce. 👍 . ... ...
GlassOfMalbec
Had the Royale with cheese, chips with aoli.<br/>I was very happy with this! I think it met the benchmark for your basic beef pati with cheese burger bun, perhaps even exceeded slightly:)<br/>The chips were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. <br/>Shame there's no inside dining options to cater for Melbourne's variable weather conditions but overall I liked the experience.
Who Loves Good Food
Been wanting to come here for a long time. Tried once on a very rainy day & we couldn't find the place (though we were actually right there) so we ended up eating somewhere else. They are really not very conspicuous I have to say. We are still confused whether there is only outdoor sitting or can we sit indoors at the Pantry next door which also serves The Royale Brothers burgers but limited options.<br/><br/>The milk buns were super soft. Burger selection was interesting & yum! Fries were crunchy. We also tried their creme brûlée donut, $5.50 for a donut is very pricey but worth a try. [Coffee/drinks were from next door.]<br/><br/>Note: They charge 10% more on public holidays!
Riana Eden
Located in a busy little section of Brighton & gets a lot of visitors. But the burgers are delicious! Great little grab on the way to the beach or a drop past! Definitely worth a try!
Thalia
I was not impressed with the food at all. I had the grilled chicken burger, thinking a grilled chicken breast was inside however it ended up being shredded chicken. When mixed with the sauce it was very mushy and not very nice to eat. The whole process on eating the burger was goey and not appealing. The chips were basic and nothing special. There are many other burger joints I would choose over this one.
Liam Musgrove
Such a good, juicy burger. I had the bacon Royale and my partner the Royale with cheese. Fresh and tasty ingredients! Awesome! Will come back any time
Johnny Shabazz
That is a tasty burger. Damn good, the Royale with bacon and the spicy Royale with the jalapeño relish or whatever that was killed it got some chips as well standard. Going back for sure wish I was a local because it's a great walk up joint. Also want to have some of their icecream from next door.
The_Franch
Been eating at Royale Brothers since they opened. Some of the best burgers in all of Melbourne. I've had the Royale, Royale with bacon, Spicy Royale, chicken, and Hippy Royale, and they've all been excellent. My go to is the plain Royale, just a classic burger with a great combo of everything. The buns really make these burgers. Only thing I'll say is it would be great if they maybe added a 2nd side, maybe an onion rings or different types or fries.
Isaac
One of the best burgers in Melbourne. Great oily bun, a thin but very tasty grass feed party, excellent cheese melt and cover and a nice combo of sauces. Chips are great, crispy outside and creamy inside, the aoli dipping sauce is yum. The chips are fairly commercial and in my opinion you can get beer at Mammys Boys or Tuck Shop to name a few. Basic burger comes in a decent value at $13.50. As mentioned the only seething is outdoors so not so great for winter. Service is very fast even when they super busy which is great to see. The addition of Lickings ice cream really gives this place an edge, it is amazing and awesome to get a burger and desert at the same place. If you haven't been to Royal Brothers then you need fix that.
Lehmo K
Better off making some home made burgers than these over priced things cost us $85 for a few burgers for the family and some chips. Absolutely disgusting.
.xLngo
If you like your burgers juicy and full of sauce, this is the burger place for you. The Royale with Cheese is one of the most well built burgers available in Melbourne.<br/><br/>There is only outdoor eating or takeaway options sadly.<br/>
Ihoward
This is the place I head to when I'm really craving a decent burger. The Royale cheese is my go to and always delivers the goods. The chips are average. Service is good and quick enough. They do add a surcharge on public holidays which is a bit much. Only annoying thing is that there is very limited outdoor seating, so you're lucky to get a seat in summer and in winter it is very much a takeaway joint!
Natalie
The burgers here are average. It was juicy but the spices and taste weren't astonishing. It kinds of taste like a hungry jacks burger to me. I believe that's enough said. But the service is good. We went in a wet and windy night. It had stopped raining, but they don't have an indoor dining area so we sat outside and they seats and tables were wet. However, one cashier girls ran out and dried down the seats and tables. Which was nice.
Fish
We knew this place had rave reviews, so finally after dinner one night we headed down for a little dessert. At 8.30pm on a cold saturday night, there was a healthy crowd around Royale Bothers enjoying some serious burgers, but we were there for the ice cream bar. It looked the goods and the two guys inside were dressed for the occasion. Aprons and hats all in black and white were pretty smooth! We sussed out the flavours on offer and settled on the Salted Caramel and the Pistachio in a waffle cone. I handled over a $50 and was given $23 change... I kept my hand out until the young guy realised what was going on. Another $20 came my way. Then the other guy went about serving our ice cream. He picked up a cup and proceeded to scoop the salted caramel and pistachio into it... We just watched and then told him we ordered a waffle cone. So he started from scratch and got what we ordered. While these two guys didn't seem too switched on, it was quickly forgotten as the ice cream was amazing! The texture, taste and overall smoothness of the stuff was top notch! I will be back, hopefully the staff are a little better next time.<br/><br/>Been back and the burgers are rock solid. Love em to bits! Bacon Royale 👌🏼
A&S Eat Everything
Came here on a Saturday night with a few friends and would highly recommend. <br/><br/>We ordered a selection of burgers and chips, all of which were great. Ordering is easy, you order and pay before you eat, get a buzzer which sounds when your food is ready and go get it. I had the Royale With Cheese, which is apparently voted as the best burger in Australia 2016 according to Food Service News. The Royale With Cheese does not let down and is delicious, with a juicy well seasoned beef patty and a selection of complementing flavours from the pickles, mustard etc. The chips with gravy is another winner, though the chips have a blandish and oily flavour, the gravy is excellent and really makes it into a winner. <br/>We also ordered some deserts from the ice cream shop too such as the ice cream and shakes. The ice cream was great but the cookies and cream shake we had could have been a bit more special.<br/><br/>The only cons would be that the seating areas are all located outside with no visible amenities/toilets. The outside seating area would be great in summer but not so much in the middle of winter(as was our case) or a rainy day.<br/><br/>Overall a great place with great food, would recommend.
Charizard
Had The Pork Jerk which was absolutely stunning! The pork was tender, aromatic and flavoursome, while the slaw was appetising and delish! It was undoubtedly one of the best burgers in Melbourne! We also had Choco Mint Thick Shake and Ice Cream (Coconut Choco Chip & Strawberry) from Lickings Fine Ice Cream. The Choco Mint Thick Shake was slightly too sweet even though the mint flavour was on point. As for the ice cream, the coconut was fragrant and tasted as though I was having an actual coconut! It was hands down one of the best coconut ice cream I have had! The chocolate chips complemented the coconut ice cream well, while the strawberry ice cream was decent.
Food In My Tummy
Price point is standard burger prices. Burger was a little underwhelming and the patty was small. Tiny set up. If you can bother to travel elsewhere I think you can find a better burger.
Ty Adams
timing on the burger coming out was amazing i think i was waiting only 5 minutes after i paid on Sunday around 12pm. that unfortunately was the only upside of this burger joint in Brighton. i felt like the burgers are mass produced and sat there for a while because the first bite i took out of the burger it was below room temp. besides that the chips were straight out of the fryer piping hot but had way to much salt to finish off. taste wise of the burger was very average for 2 combos that cost roughly $44 i would like a tasty burger worth travelling for. the bacon was hardly cooked and the patty was pretty bland. probably wont travel back for another one so if your looking to travel for this burger i suggest to look elsewhere.
LeanGuy
I've been here before. Royale Brothers is located in the heart of Brighton's Church Street. <br/>I Ordered - Royale With Cheese<br/>Price - $13<br/>Bun - great to begin. Doesn't hold up due to the mayo and other sauces.<br/>Salad - not a lot of salad. <br/>Meat - nice. Good size. Very reasonable quality. <br/>Time - it took 4 minutes (from order to receiving burger)<br/>Sauce - delicious! too much sauce though - it really affected the bun towards the end of the burger. My advice would be to order without Mayo.
Madeleine Scerri
Great Vegie burger! Nice crispy coating and lots of fillings squished in a soft bun. The chips are good but are nothing too special.<br/>Cookies & cream shake is a must have!<br/>Wish there was more seating available as there is only an outdoor bench so definitely do takeaway or rug up in Winter!
Culinary Expert
Purchased a burger & chips and they were stone cold after opening them up no more than 3 minutes after buying them. <br/><br/>The Royale Brothers can't distinguish between the ice cream and the burgers. Seriously disappointing & at least the dog enjoyed it.<br/><br/>If you buy a burger ensure you have a microwave handy !
Snackloverbaby
Love the burgers here! Really good if you're in the area and don't have much time.  Annoying to sit there if it's cold or windy, since the seated area is outside. Great for takeaway. Royale with cheese is my fave.
Beau Brendon
Probably one of the better burger joints I've dined at. Grilled Chicken burger isn't a patty, it's pulled chicken pieces. Such a nice change from the 'usual'
Steve George
I ordered the royal with cheese (same as my friend). After driving a while to get to this place, the burgers didn't live up to the rating/hype of this place. I think a lot of reviews are from locals, and that becomes a bias view of how you rate a place, as you want it to look better than it is, as it's 'your' local burger place. I've been to a lot of burger places and this burger was messy, fell apart as I was just holding it. Cheese was too overpowering and no sauce was to be tasted. It tasted like a quarter pounder ($5 at maccas) just slightly larger. Nothing that impressive. It's off the main strip where it's not very practical to eat-in, as it's just an outdoor bench to eat on, so I wouldn't take a date there, maybe a takeaway. However will not be back, not worth it. My friend said the exact same thing about his burger. Not a top 10er, not even 20!
Harvey B
Stopped for lunch as was driving by. Ordered double royale deluxe $22. A big double patty, double cheese, double bacon, tomati and lettuce in soft milk bun. Very filling burger but just seemed to lack some intensity in flavour. have eaten here at least 6 times last 12 months and unfortunately have noticed a slide in all aspects as there seems to be an air of complcency creeping in. What once was a punchy burger has slid back as new offerings have upped the ante in the burger stakes. Still has enough brownie points in reserve to be respected but care needs to be raised.<br/>
DeanC
Easily some of the best burgers in Melbourne. The double royale with cheese is always a winner. Its a small place so takeaway is a good option, and the staff are friendly.
Amy Tatosyan
Burgers cant get any better than this. I will have it everyday if i could. Only wish they had closed area to sit specially in cold weather they are only outdoor.
Gail
Have been to Royale Brothers for burgers a few times (as we live in the area) and on the last few occasions, have noticed that our burgers (Bacon Royale) and chips have been cold. The first time it happened we thought it was because we had made a telephone order and had arrived late to pick them up. However after ordering and waiting for our burgers the next time, the burgers and chips were still cold and we had to warm them up when we got home. I can understand if the burgers are made beforehand in case of large demand but there haven't been a lot of customers waiting there when I have made my orders. Whatever the reason I won't be going back.

A yummy, hearty and full flavoured meal. The Royale with cheese is very well balanced and fits comfortably in your hand so it's easy to eat. Delicious soft milk bun and zesty pickles. Excellent sauce ratio. Funky little street food vibe.

Ordered:<br/>- 2x Bacon Royale<br/>- Royale with Cheese<br/>- Crispy Fish<br/><br/>Location is very tight and squished. Burgers didn't live up to its expectations as it tasted very ordinary to us. The fish burger had more vegetables and you couldn't taste the fish at all. The mustard sauce in all four burgers were overwhelming.

It's a darn good burger... <br/><br/>Finally got around to giving this one a go.. maybe my expectations were set high... have been looking fwd to Royales for awhile.<br/><br/>Royales is behind the Pantry and works well for the clientele that it attracts! Onto the burger... without taking it apart my first bite was as if it was the most beautiful thing in the world!! I devoured it. it was only until I was half way through that I remembered to take note of what was inside... nothing pretentious.. just a whole hearty "proper" burger with lettuce .. I noticed my grip as well.. substantial yet not fist size like fatbob's! <br/><br/>"Milk" bun was nice. Not too heavy and complemented the fillings well. the patty although not as good as Laurie Dee's or Chew's, was significant and meaty enough for a thumbs up. like other reputable burgers the patty has granular bits of meat with some burnt bits. <br/><br/>All in all ... awesome. WIR? most definitely! Is it the best?? hmm this I will leave to ur own judgement. We all have our favourites ...

This little burger joint in Brighton is a gem of a find. Serving up interesting twists on new-school burgers, each and every one is delicious. Now I'm a sworn carnivore and their standard Royale is good for me, but after having tasted the vegetarian burger (reluctantly under gf pressure), it surprisingly blew my mind - by far the best I've had!

Nice veggie burger, would eat it again but won't be rushing back :)<br/>Could've done with a bit more avocado. The patty was yum but too soft, everytime you took a bite, it would squeeze out the other side lol

THE ROYALE WITH CHEESE<br/><br/>I've eaten here a few times and usually order the Royale with Cheese. In its early days the hype was justified. Now, despite its expansion into ice-cream and shakes, the place is going downhill and one cannot help but feel a sense of arrogance about a place that constantly shows off its "top 10" ranking in the dynamic zeitgeist that is Melbourne's burger scene.<br/><br/>I'll get to the point. The burger is too saucy: both the tomato sauce and "Royale" sauce (which is like a timid version of Big Mac sauce) are excessive. The onion only aggravates the situation. Most of the time all I could taste was this sauce combination with onion, which detracts from the flavour of the meat and makes the bun soggy. This brings me to my next point. The beef, while cooked properly, appears to be of a substandard quality. In the last 3 or 4 times I've eaten here I found myself chewing through tough sinews, which is not very appeasing. All the other aspects of the burger – the pickles, lettuce, tomato and cheese – are acceptable, but often risk being spoiled by the exorbitant level of sauce.<br/><br/>The fries is reasonable and complements the soggy burger. However, there is nowhere near enough fries, and they could certainly be less frugal when it comes to the size of the serving. My experience in other places, in particular the US (from which I assume The Royale Brothers got its inspiration), is that a generous servings of fries goes a long way to making customers happy – even if they still used that small white cup, at least overfill it and let there be some bag fries.<br/><br/>Despite my criticisms, I will continue to visit this place because I see the potential for improvement. As far as the Royale with Cheese (the go-to burger) is concerned, the mistakes they are making are small but carry large consequences. A soggy burger is very unappealing, but fortunately can easily be fixed.<br/><br/>THE AMBIENCE / SERVICE / LOCATION<br/><br/>No complaints about the ambience and service; in fact, they nail it. Ordering is straightforward; they give you buzzers so you're not left in the lurch; and the waiting time is fairly standard for a burger place. The location – in the heart of Brighton at one end of Church Street – is also prime.

Do: the classic or the one with bacon. <br/><br/>Don't: forget to order a thick shake. Cookies and cream definitely hits the spot. <br/><br/>Tip: phone ahead to beat the queue or drive a 4wd and park out the front in the loading zone to make your own drive thru.

Wanted to try this place for a while as it was rated top 10 burgers in Melbourne. Honestly I don't get what all the fuss is about. Now that I've tried it, I don't think I'll go back. I personally didn't really like it and it looked so sloppy. The double choc thick shake however was really nice!
