Review The Tamper Trap Brighton - Brighton

Angie Bee
This is a nice little spot. Parking is easy and it's a quieter part of Brighton, so a more relaxed feeling. The food was good. As is the case with many of Melbourne's cafes, the menu could be identical to 100 other places, and I found there was nothing that sets these guys apart from others, but if you're in the area, it's nice to give it a go. The burger was great and cooked well. The fries were nice too. Everyone loved what they ordered. The only minor issues was the length of time it took to get the drinks, and one of the staff members did play with a dog outside at their outdoor tables and then came in but she didn't wash her hands before getting on with the next task. Seeing as it's in a nice area and the prices are reasonable and service is good, I would come back again one day for sure.

Great coffee, nice view and great food. They made some mistakes with our orders, but quickly to have it resolved. I was quite happy with their customers services. They locate inside a building so you need a code to use the bathroom, which I found a bit inconvenient but it doesn’t really affect the overall experience.

Nice place to have breakfast with my folks before taking a walk at Brighton Beach. Had the smashed peas. Healthy and wholesome. Something I don’t see in cafes in Singapore.

This is such a great cafe in the lovely suburb of Brighton. I loved how spacious this cafe is and they have lovely blue velvet couching with greenery decoration. The waiters at this cafe are so sweet and super accommodating, and provided us with great service. Their menu offers heaps of choices for breakfast and lunch as well as various options of beverages. I had a prana chai latte with soy milk which had lovely flavours of spices and was the ideal drink to stay warm. My mum had a soy latte which she loved. We ordered the smashed avocado with scrambled eggs and mushrooms, and the salmon two ways with a side of avocado. The smashed avocado was very tasty and went perfectly with the smashed avocado and mushrooms. My personal favourite was the salmon two ways as it was extremely flavoursome especially the teriyaki salmon and the potato croquettes.

If you’re looking for a great feed in the Brighton area it’s hard to go past The Tamper Trap. I recently visited this cafe for the second time and enjoyed the experience as much as I did the first time. Visiting for breakfast we ordered the cheesy croquette Benny with an added side of smashed avocado and the Trapped chilli scramble with a side of potato croquettes. To drink we had a matcha latte and a mocha. Both dishes came out beautifully plated. I thoroughly enjoyed the chilli scramble, it was packed full of flavour. This dish is on the larger side so it’s perfect if you’re looking for a filling feed. The side of potato croquettes were delicious, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. My friend loved the cheesy croquette Benny. The eggs were perfectly poached, the flavours worked together beautifully and the side of smashed avo added some freshness. Overall I had another great experience at The Tamper Trap. I rate it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 and recommend you check them out if in the area. Thanks very much for having me.

We really enjoyed our brunch at The Tamper Trap in Brighton. They have a gorgeous, light and modern space. The service is fantastic and the food is full of flavour and texture. We ordered two of their new menu items - baked eggs shakshuka with toast and the pea smash with halloumi and poached egg. Soooo yum! Definitely add them to your brunch list.

The tamper trap is a top spot in Brighton for delicious cafe food! If you’re in the area and don’t give it a visit you’re definitely missing out!! Great service, amazing atmosphere and delicious food - what more could you ask for?! The smashed avo was good with the perfect amount of feta and the side of halloumi really added to the flavour of the dish. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection. The fritters were delicious, cooked perfectly. The poached eggs really complimented the texture of the dish. The side of haloumi is a must! The hotcakes were out of this world!! A must try when coming to this cafe. The peanut butter ice cream was delicious and very creamy. The hotcakes themselves were the perfect amount of fluffy and the extra fruit and sides complimented the dish perfectly.

Incredible coffee, delicious food and amazing customer service. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and after only a couple of weeks of living in the area, it’s already my regular cafe. Keep up the good work!

Yesterday I had a visit to the local cafe in my area, The Tamper Trap Brighton. I’ve ordered Cheesy Croquettes Benny and Banana Bread Bonanza for the sweet treat.

The croquettes Benny taste absolutely amazing. I’ve been here couple times and I didn’t get the chance to try that menu. It was mind blowing especially the sauce is to thick and flavorful.

The Bread Bonanza is a perfect dessert mixed with berries and ice cream. It wasn’t that sweet so it will make you less guilty to have it☺️😆

The coffee is actually strong and tasty. I’ve also had the smoothies selection including:

❤️💛💚SMOOTHIES💚💛❤️

•Banging Berries: 🍊 juice, mango, mixed berries, 🥥, acai, chia seeds, passionfruit

•Soul Cleanser: 🥥 water, 🍋 juice, 🥬, 🥒, 🥑, matcha

• F45 Shakes: Almond milk, 🍌, Oats, Protein Balls, PB, protein powder

I had the best dining experience here especially with the friendly staff and great ambiance. I’ll pay another visit to try the rest of the menu right after lockdown. Thank you for the excellent service The Tamper Trap Brighton! 💙

Visited The Tamper Trap today for lunch and it didn't disappoint.

I ordered a soy latte and the spinach waffles. The coffee was perfect, it was great strength and served nice and hot.

The spinach waffles were what I would call my ideal brunch dish! It was my first time trying spinach waffles and I was surprised at how light and flavourful they were. The crumbed egg was poached perfectly and gave the dish great texture. The mushrooms were juicy and complimented the dish well.

The staff are friendly although took a while to be served initially as they were busy. The ambience is a little plain but I like how spacious it is.

I can't wait to try more of their dishes in future!

Amazing ambience! Aesthetics were on point with a feature plant wall for all your selfie needs 😋 Food was delicious, omg! I had the Big Al’s Breakfast and my sister had the Trapped Chilli Scrambled, both were seriously mouthwatering 🤤 I ordered a hot chocolate to finish and it was divine!! There were a lot of cute dogs outside and it was very spacious to accommodate for families 🥰

It’s was a very average space and there was no balance on the dish I ordered a spinach waffle with mushroom and ricotta and it was a disappointment cause the amount of mushroom was so less also there was no sauce or dressing to bring everything together
Probably not a good place for vegetarian
May 2020 review:
I picked up some take away from Tamper Trap and it was efficient and contactless.

I got my mocha and matcha latte drinks and ordered these food:

STEAK SANDWICH - Caramelised mushrooms, onion relish, chimchurri, swisse cheese and rocket served on sourdough with chips

Chicken Burger - Crispy chicken, lettuce, rocket, coleslaw and chipotle mayo, served with chips

Both of them came with a generous serve of chips! They were really thin and crunchy! Can't help it but to nibble a few before driving home with my goodies.

The steak sandwich was huge and had such tender meat in it, wrapped with yummy salad.

The chicken burger had very crispy chicken and slightly spicy which was a really nice kick!

Can't wait for them to re-open and dine in again!

Old review:
Tamper Trap

I've always wanted to visit this cafe for a while! Great location close to the Brighton bathing boxes and I have heard great things about this cafe!

We had some drinks to start with: Matcha latte and a Coffee (latte. The matcha latte was not very sweet and had some spices on it which was unexpected. The coffee was great.

We ordered these dishes:

SPINACH WAFFLE - Crumbed egg, roasted mixed mushrooms, chilli oil, goats cheese, smoky red pepper relish and a herb vinaigrette - It is the first time I've tried the spinach waffle and it actually doesn't taste like spinach (if you're scared of it!). It isn't that savoury salty taste either - I thought it was quite neutral in flavour and all the toppings on it brings out the savoury flavour of this dish.

HOTCAKES SANDWICH WITH HOME MADE PEANUT BUTTER ICE CREAM - Crunchy Oreo crumble, mascarpone, home made peanut butter ice cream, raspberry coulis, seasonal fruits and misted pretzels - This is my absolute favourite hotcakes ever! I've tried too many hotcakes from different cafes and this one is really my fave! The mascarpone inside the fluffy hotcakes were just so good when combined together, and especially great when it is dipped into the crunchy oreo crumble. It isn't really sweet or too strong in peanut butter taste. Just loved it!!

SALMON TWO WAYS - Teriyaki seared salmon and seaweed crumbed salmon, potato rosti, poached egg, fennel salad, cauliflower puree, squid ink vinaigrette and tarragon hollandaise - This dish was very interesting and beautifully presented. There were two types of salmon here and the seaweed crumbed salmon tasted crispy and nice. The teriyaki seared one was a bit dry, but you can smell the seared in it and the teriyaki sauce made it a bit sweet. The potato rosti was crunchy and filled with soft potato inside.

Thank you Tamper Trap for an awesome breakfast, I could definitely come again for the hotcakes!!

First meal dining out in these two months. What a wonderful brunch with good food, good coffee and good staff. The social distancing between tables are good too. Stay safe and eat safe ☺️

The Tamper Trap Cafe is an absolute gem in the heart of Brighton! 💎

Warm welcoming vibe, with smiling friendly staff and super accommodating for our fluffy boy, Milo! 🐶

The menu looked AMAZING!! 🙌 We settled on a classic scrambled eggs on toast with bacon, chorizo, spinach and a potato hash! 💯 And we decided to try their new menu item ‼️ Banana Bread Bonanza! 🤩 It was a serious showstopper, I was literally in heaven with each spoonful of this deliciousness! 🥰💕

The coffee’s were 10/10 🔥 and the staff were incredibly accommodating to my dietary requirements as I have severe food allergies.

Honestly, I’m so happy I found this cute trendy cafe, I will definitely be returning! Thanks for having me!! 🙏

We killed two birds with one stone when we ventured to Brighton for the day, hitting up the beach and The Temper Trap. The Temper Trap is a lovely cafe in the village of Brighton with easy access and lots of parking available. We also loved that it was a 4min drive to the beach, yes, we were lazy and could have walked.

We came on a nice sunny day over the weekend. We ordered the acai bowl and the eggs and smashed avo on toast. The acai bowl was fresh and delicious and full of fruit. I loved it. The smashed avo was creamy, fresh and well-balanced. We would have loved a little more scrambled egg as there was very little of it compared to the amount of toast we had. We also asked for a side of halloumi but the waiter forgot to order it. It came straight after we alerted him to it though. The coffee was amazing. A nice place to come for brunch.

Think this place is a bit overrated. Thought the food was ok but wasn’t blown away as you would expect for a place with such a high rating. Had the salmon two ways which was alright and my husband had the chicken salad which was pretty plain and unimaginative.

Coffee was decent and place was buzzing on a Sunday afternoon. Friendly staff but service was a bit slow - took ages to get menus

This cafe isn’t rated extremely highly for no reason 😍😍😍😍 look at these meals .. they were simply to die for 🤩🤩 I will definitely be back soon 👌🏻

If you’re up for a good brunch with good smoothies, you’re in for a treat at The Tamper Trap Brighton.
So many good food here and we especially loved the hotcakes sandwich with homemade peanut butter ice cream! It will surely satisfy your sweet tooth! We also tried the spinach waffles and salmon two ways - great choices!
Two smoothies that you definitely should try are the banging berries and soul cleanser! So refreshing and perfect for summer!

Tamper Trap Brighton has a good reputation which is why I was very excited to visit and try out their seemingly delectable menu! The menu is very interesting and of note are the spinach waffles which had a very unique taste. However, being a burger fanatic myself I was disappointed by the fried chicken burger which lacked adequate amounts (if it had any) of sauce.

Otherwise the staff were very polite and the service was great.
Food Fiend Melbourne
We visited Tamper Trap, in Brighton, for a late-brunch/lunch this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was tasty, the venue not too crowded and the service was very friendly.

We ordered two coffees to start, which tasted excellent and only lasted a few minutes. We ordered two dishes and a smoothie to share.

My partner had the chilli scramble with chorizo and cherry tomatoes. He said that the flavours were excellent and the serving size was perfect. He was also very enamoured with how many menu items included chorizo.

I ordered the Okonomiyaki (Japanese Pancake) that came served with a side of naked slaw and ginger fried chicken. The Okonomiyaki itself came served as two in a stack, which was a lot to eat, but was delicious and came dressed with a generous serving of kewpie mayo and BBQ sauce. The fried chicken was a bit dry, but had a nice flavour - it just needed a condiment for dipping. The slaw seemed to be a bit of a plate filler and I didn’t see the need to eat any of it.

We had the “banging berry” smoothie, which was presented beautifully and had a lovely flavour. It complimented my meal perfectly as it was not too strong and was a welcome freshness after the heaviness of two sauces and fried chicken.

Tamper Trap is a beautiful venue with a diverse menu and great team of staff. The surrounding parking is mostly 2hr street parking, but was very readily available on a Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for having us, team :)

Located along Bay Street, Brighton, The Tamper Trap is one the best cafes I’ve visited this year.

Visiting for Sunday breakfast I shared the salmon two ways and the Hotcake sandwich with a friend. To drink we ordered a chai latte and a coffee. Everything we ordered came out beautifully presented.

The salmon two ways features teriyaki seared salmon and seaweed crumbed salmon. In both instances the salmon was cooked to perfection. I loved the innovation of presenting the salmon cooked two ways. The salmon was beautifully complimented by a potato rosti, a poached egg and cauliflower purée.

The Hotcake sandwich with peanut butter ice cream, Oreo crumble, mascarpone, strawberry ice cream, raspberry coulis, seasonal fruits and misted pretzels was another standout dish.
It was sweet but not overly sweet and the home made peanut butter ice cream was amazing. I loved the different textures and flavours of the dish and how it combined fluffy pancakes with crunch Oreo crumb and balanced the sweetness of the dish with pretzel and fresh fruit.

Overall I had a great experience at The Tamper Trap and I highly recommend that you check them out. I give them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Thanks very much for having me.

It was so lovely to head to this spot down by the beach, such a beautiful area!

We ordered the insta-famous Hotcakes Sandwich. This was straight out of a dream. I adored the housemade peanut butter ice cream and was even tempted to ask for them to make up a tub for me to take home! The oreo crumb was the perfect addition.

We also got the Spinach Waffle which is one of the best savoury dishes I've ever had. The flavour combinations were so expertly matched. From the mushrooms, the goats cheese, red pepper relish and the herb vinaigrette - perfection!

The Banging Berries and Soul Cleanser smoothies were so light and refreshing, not to mention gorgeously presented.

Food was great and I used my zomato Gold to get one of the dishes complimentary. I definitely recommend this place for everyone.

Atmosphere: very friendly vibes, a wonderful place to spend a Saturday morning. Lovely, warm lighting and we were sat right in front of the baristas. It was great to see what they were doing ☕️
Food: I had the sweet potato and zucchini fritters with poached egg and halloumi. Very generous portion sizes and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The fritters were crunchy and light. Rosalie ate the spinach waffles. The crumbed egg was super interesting and a nice take on a classic brunch dish. 😋
Service: the staff were chatty and very helpful with menu choices. They checked on us multiple times to see how we were going which was very appreciated. 🙌🏼
Overall 5/5, would definitely return here and try more of their wonderful menu 😊

On my way back from a weekend trip on Sunday, my friends decided to detoured to Brighton for a late lunch. I saw on Zomato The Tamper Trap has Zomato Gold offer and also their menu looked quite interesting so I quickly made a reservation via Zomato.

The café has been opened for 22 months and rotates their menu twice a year for winter and summer. Their summer menu will be released in November, so we were lucky to be able to enjoy their winter menu on our visit.

🔆LOCATION🔆

The Tamper Trap café is situated on Bay Street at the corner of Cochrane Street, not far from North Brighton Station and only 5 minutes drive away from the famous Bright Beach Bathing Boxes. The corner café is quite spacious and has a relaxed atmosphere.

🔆SERVICE🔆

The service at this café was outstanding. Very friendly and super efficient.

🔆MENU/PRICE🔆

Salmon Two Ways, $26.00(Teriyaki seared salmon and seaweed crumbed salmon, potato rosti, poached egg, fennel salad, cauliflower puree, squid ink vinaigrette and tarragon hollandaise)

Oknomiyaki Japanese Pancake, $21.50(Made with zucchini, peas, savoy cabbage, carrot and ginger, served with crispy ginger chicken, edamame slaw, mayo, house bbq sauce and potato crisp)

Hanoi lemongrass grilled and ginger chicken, $17.50(House pickled yellow rice noodle salad, edamame beans, shredded lettuce, cucumber. Asian herbs, crushed peanuts and Nam Jim sauce)

Latte, $3.90Matcha, $4.00
Banging Berries Smoothie, $9.00(Orange juice, mango, mixed berries, coconut, acai, chia seeds, passionfruit)

🔆VERDICT🔆

I had the Salmon Two Way and out of the two salmon I enjoyed the seaweed crumbed salmon the most. I found the seared salmon was slightly overcooked. Would have loved to had more fennel salad on the plate just to balance off all the fried components on the plate, but otherwise it was a very tasty dish. The potato rosti was very yummy.

My friend had the oknomiyaki which is a modern fusion twist to the authentic Japanese version. The okonomiyaki had 2 nice thick pieces and was very moist and full of flavour however the main highlight of the dish was in fact the ginger chicken! We all had a taste of it and oh my gosh! YUM!! Super tender chicken with good hint of ginger and nicely fried! I would be excited if they had the fried ginger chicken as a separate dish.

My other friend had the Hanoi grilled lemongrass and ginger chicken salad. The yellow noodles was of interesting texture and taste, mixed with the salad and the sweet, sour, & spicy of the Nam Jim sauce was a nice combination. It was refreshing and light. The chicken was grilled well with good hint of lemongrass and ginger flavours.

The matcha drink was very good texture and strong taste of green tea matcha flavour.
My Berries Smoothie was a bit too watery and I didnt realise there were blackberries and a strawberry at the bottom of the drink which was a nice surprise.

We enjoyed our Sunday afternoon late lunch meal at The Tamper Trap café.

Located in the heart of Brighton, Tamper Trap is located on the corner of Bay and Cochrane Street.

With plenty of parking options, this one is easily accessible.

Between us, we shared…

🍽Spinach Waffles
💬I was really excited when I read this item on the menu. It is already a stand out as it’s something unusual and different. However, with the addition of the crumbed poached egg…..
It was an absolute winner in both of our eyes. The flavours were incredible and worked so well together. The waffle was fresh and perfectly cooked. The spinach within the waffles was subtle, so actually it tasted more like an interesting alternative to the usual sourdough option.

🍽Hotcakes Sandwich with Home Made Peanut Butter Ice Cream
💬The standout in this dish was the addition of the home made peanut butter ice cream that was spread between the pancake to create a pancake sandwich. Different, delicious and simply genius.

🥤We also ordered both the smoothies too. I had the green smoothie which I ordered for the health and vitamin hit, but actually it tasted good! I don’t tend to enjoy green smoothies. I usually just have them to get a good hit of essential nutrients but this left me pleasantly surprised.

👥The staff were also really impressive. They were vibrant, attentive and still ensured a nice amount of genuine interaction. Ordering and receiving the food, it was all very prompt!

💚Menu - Unique Options
💚Food - Delicious & Flavoursome
💚Staff - Vibrant & Friendly
💚Seating – Option between indoors and out front
💚Zomato Gold
Flying Forward
Spacious and clean café with lots of beige laminated tables, large windows and of course, white tiles.

Service was friendly and attentive.

House Baked Nut Seeded Toast – Packed with nuts, the toast is slightly crumbly, dense and quite filling. The carrot and almond hummus is creamy and nutty.

Spinach Waffle – the waffle was soft and paired well with the goats cheese and herb vinaigrette. The crumbed egg was slightly underdone as it was watery when I cut it open. It’s a little on the small side, as the dish was finished really quickly and I’m not sure if it’s worth $21.

Fortunately I used Zomato Gold so it was a 2 for 1 meal.

My Brighton favourite.

Being a fritter fan every time I come here I cannot seem to avoid the sweet potato and zucchini fritters! They have everything a fritter needs and I am yet to explore the many delicious options on the menu. Love their coffee, the friendly faces and welcoming charm of the owners. A must visit when in Brighton.

3.5 stars

The Tamper Trap is a cafe in the corner of Cochrane and Bay st. The cafe has seating outside which is perfect for the coming summer. We started of with soul cleanser and matcha latte. Both tastes very healthy.
Then we ordered spinach waffle, Okonimiyaki Japanese pancake, and Super Food Bowl. We really like the spinach waffle sauce but felt like the waffle texture was a bit dry. The Okonomiyaki was a bit hard and need more flavour. If you are a healthy person, we recommend the super food bowl.

The place is really nice. Food is great. We both enjoyed the food. Delicious coffee too. Could have given five star but the portion is a bit small and we were still hungry by the end of it.

This corner cafe in Brighton, from the moment you step foot into has such an open yet inviting floor space. The glass windows all around, creates a beautiful natural light flowing through the cafe. And with the super positive environment, provided an incredible warmth. The waitress knowledge of the menu was very thorough and even suggested the Spinach Waffles. Which sounds quite exquisite and interesting at first glance but honestly it was delightful!

(New review from Dec 1st 2019 experience)
There is never enough words to show my appreciation for this cafe. Taking the drive down for the second time now, was again so damm worth it!! I absolutely love everything about The Tamper Trap from their friendly staff, to the comforting smooth coffee and of course to the array of high quality delicious dishes. Today I had the Warm Oats Porridge with a Banging Berries Smoothie and I must say it was berry-licious haha. My mum and sister had cappuccinos with Menegola Granola and Smashed Avo, and they were definitely impressed. For anyone in the area or Brighton or is willing to take a trip there, I highly suggest this cosy cafe that is located on the corner of Bay Street and Cochrane Street.

I had the pleasure of eating at this great cafe in the heart of Brighton last weekend! The cafe is nice and big, with plenty of space and seating. The staff were very friendly and accommodated us very quickly to our table. The cafe has a gorgeous blue velvet couch which was super cosy! The menu has lots of variety and the 3 dishes that I order, did not disappoint! The spinach waffle was a stand out! A very unique dish, with lots of flavour and a crumbed poached egg on top! Yum! The peanut butter packcakes were delicious too! Fluffy on the inside and coupled with oreo crumbs, berries and maple syrup, it made for a perfect dessert 😍👌 I can't wait to return and try some other dishes on the menu!

Breaky brioche ($15.50) ⭐️ 4.5/5 ⭐️
Cheesy croquette benny ($20) ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
Steak sandwich ($20) ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️
🍴Yummy food & good service in a cosy cafe near #brighton. We all enjoyed the steak sandwich that had juicy meat in a nicely toasted bread. The #breakybrioche had egg, bacon, and a nice balance of slightly salty halloumi with slightly spicy chipotle mayo. The croquette benny was a unique take on an #eggbenedict but was quite a small portion of 4 croquettes, 2 eggs and chorizo. It was probably my least favourite among the 3 but I guess it comes down to personal preference
📍@thetampertrapbrighton, 181 Bay Street Brighton, Victoria, Australia

We were lucky to be invited to visit tamper trap. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was spacious.

We had the hot cakes, salmon 2 ways and okonomiyaki. Everything was delicious and our favourite were the hot cakes which were delicious especially with the peanut butter ice cream.

10/10! One of the best cafes I’ve ever been to
First, service here is super friendly. They greeted us with warm smiles and greetings. Kindly offered us coffees and menu recommendations.
Coffee here is good. Ordered a long black, soy latte and almond latte. Milk to coffee ratio was perfect, and the lattes were extra frothy as per requested (which is hard to make with plant based milks)
No faults in all 3 dishes we ordered. Everything about the dishes were delicious.
For the spinach waffle, it was well made and seasoned well. Highlight of the dish is the crumbled egg which was poached perfectly and not oily.
Mushrooms and both the avocado dish and waffle dish was grilled and fried crispy, yet not oily or too dry to the throat.
The house made seed nut toast was very special. It was generous in nuts and the toast was grilled nicely, definitely the highlight of the avocado dish.
Okonomiyaki was cooked well, not oily or over poured with sauces. The fried chicken was prepared well, not oily but very very crispy.
Definitely will be back real soon to try the cabinet (muffin looked amazing) and the other dishes on the menu 😋

😱Lizzie’s first impression: first time coming here after hearing many good things and it was a dream. The decor of this place is simple yet looked classy.

🍩Lizzie enjoyed: All the food was delicious - I tried the spinach waffles with the crumbed eggs and it was amazing. The roasted mushrooms on top just went together with the herb vinaigrette and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Next was the hotcakes sandwich with the peanut butter ice cream. Everything about this sweet dish was amazing - it had crunchy oreo crumble and the hotcakes was still crispy on the outer rim - was so impressed.

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: It was my first time trying tumeric latte and safe to say I probably won't ever order one again - but that's just personal preference.

🥇Lizzie rates overall: The perfect place for a cute brunch date on the weekend. It's not too busy that you have to wait a while but enough people to get all the weekend brunch vibe.

GREAT FLAVOUR COMBO! 👌🏽
.
The new season is upon us and the sun is out! ☀️ This gem of a dish was a winter warmer but is now for me a spring sensation 😉 the name speaks for itself! Salmon cooked and provided two ways ✌🏽 the first was a delicious teriyaki seared salmon and the second a panko crusted salmon fillet 😎 both served on a deliciously tasty potato rosti 😍 the third rosti boasted a poached egg topped with hollandaise 🥚 I love this dish! It's a slider type dish where you get to taste different flavours and textures for breakfast 🍳 the teriyaki salmon combined fantastically with the crunchy and smooth potato rosti 😉 the seaweed crumbed salmon was cooked to perfection and literally broke apart while cutting through! The fat of the salmon added brilliant moisture to the crumbed rosti on this particular element 👏🏼 overall a really tasty option for salmon lovers ✔️
.
💡TIP - if you're after something sweet then you can't go wrong with the hotcake sandwich 😉 keep an eye out for the post coming soon! 🙏🏽
.

It was a gorgeous day so we sat outside! The entire venue is stunning, very sheek and minimalist. We ordered the icecream sandwich, the eggs benny and the breakfast Brioche. All these dishes were delicious! The eggs benny is always a favourite of mine and with the cheesy croquettes made it that extra bit special! The icecream sandwich was absolutely heavenly though! Recommend trying it! Coffee of course was fantastic and had a lovely experience here!

My friend tried the spinach waffles and loved it. The hotcakes were also incredible and must try!

No complaints here I had such a great time and my friend and I both enjoyed every dish we had

Visited the Bayside cafe, tamper trap over the weekend and I must say I was impressed. The decor is bright and modern and I loved the mixture of white tiles and timer used. The greeneris hanging from the ceiling gives makes the place vibrant.
There was a good variety of food and drinks on the menu and kids options are available. We finally decided on what to order and we were happy with our choices.
Big Al's breakfast - we really liked the dish as it had a good mixture and abit of everything. The dish was made better with a side of halloumi, be sure to add them. Everything on the dish was spot on and we could not have asked for more
Grilled minute steak sandwich - This was the absolute highlight of our meal. From the grilled minute steak, to the caramelised mushrooms and onion relish everything was spot on. The steak was cooked perfectly and was not overdone and it went really well with the shoe string fries. Definitely recommend this dish if you like a good minute steak sandwich.
Hotcakes sandwich with home made peanut butter ice cream - No brunch is complete without a sweet ending. We went with the hotcakes as saw they had homemade peanut butter ice cream. The presentation of the dish was top notch. There was a good mix to the elements of the dish. From the hotcakes that I've had before I always felt like it was lacking the crunch element. The crunchy Oreo crumble complements the dish very well as it gives it the crunch. The peanut butter ice cream was simply heavenly and I loved everything about this dish.
Banging berries smoothie - The smoothie was nice and was not too sweet. It had a good balance of flavours and went really well after a meal.
This place was actually packed on a Saturday afternoon and is popular to the locals around. Love how they have a diverse menu and there were brunch dishes with a twist. Definitely a great spot when you're around the Bayside area.

Our local go-to for coffee and breakfast. Chili scramble is amazing! Working our way through the options on the menu and haven’t been disappointed once. Coffee is en pointe.

I visited the Tamper Trap in Brighton last weekend and was absolutely blown away by the staff and how attentive they were! From the minute we walked in the door we were greeted by a smile and so much enthusiasm. We ordered drinks straight away which came out shortly after & were delicious. I opted for my trusty coconut matcha latte & Teegs ordered a chai latte that looked spicy and amazing! For food we ordered the creamy warm porridge & the nut and seed bread which was next level amazing! It was full of so many delicious combinations and flavours, matched with a poached egg it was incredible! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can’t wait to visit again maybe in the warmer months so we can sit outside! Highly recommend!

We visited The Tamper Trap in Brighton recently and I can say that it was definitely worth the journey!

As soon as I walked in, I was amazed by the beautiful interior of this cafe. It’s clean, bright and spacious, with a relaxing ambience. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating.

I have to point out how amazing their menu is! Croquette bennys and DIY tacos? Honestly some of the most unique and creative dishes I’ve seen at a cafe! After a hard decision, we settled with the Okonomiyaki, Spinach Waffle, and Hotcakes Sandwich.

The Okonomiyaki was definitely my favourite dish. I am a huge fan of Japanese flavours, and I have been craving okonomiyaki ever since coming back from Japan. Tamper Trap has their own version - it’s thick, crispy on the outside, and dense on the inside - slathered with mayo and bbq sauce. Absolutely loved it! Though the crispy chicken was a little dry in some parts, it was still very enjoyable!

The Spinach Waffle was also delicious. It was my first time trying a spinach waffle and it sure won’t be my last! The herb vinaigrette gave a nice tartness to the dish which I really enjoyed. And the crumbed egg was perfect!

Finally, the Hotcakes Sandwich with Home Made Peanut Butter Ice Cream was also amazing! Whilst the hotcakes are on the small side, the generous serving of house made ice creams and Oreo crumble makes up for it! The PB ice cream is divine - very nutty and fragrant! The hotcakes were cooked just right - fluffy and light, and not dry. A very impressive dessert!

I also had the Soul Cleanser smoothie which was very refreshing and not too sweet. It went perfectly with our meal.

Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Tamper Trap and it is definitely one of the better brunch experiences I’ve had in Melbourne! Highly recommend checking them out!

Thank you so much for having us!

This cafe was a random pick to head to a different suburb for a change... we were greeted with a friendly smile. The coffee was great, they even do the cold drip coffee also. The service was great and friendly through out. The food was nice and we would definitely visit again.

I visited them at the time they introduced their new menu... was delighted by the theatrics that the peanut butter pancakes offered, check my insta post for the video.
The menu has a freshness to it, as you may not have seen such vibrant recipes anywhere else.

Decor was super neat, with high chair and platform desk around the windows/walls and one side has a plush velvet green sofa seat.

Super prompt service, super crowded even on week days, suitable for big groups.

#mojolevel 5/5

What a cute place! We were greeted by one of the staff as soon as we came in. The place had a very relaxing/ super chill vibe, the music was not too loud and the staff was very attentive.

We had the Hotcakes sandwich with home made Peanut Butter ice cream and the Cheesy Croquette Benny. We also had the freshly squeezed Orange Juice and the Matcha Latte.

First of all, those Croquette though? Wow. It was super delicious. The poached eggs were made perfectly and the bacon and chorizo, gave it take extra kick of flavour!

Secondly, the hotcakes looked super pretty. The hot cake was nice and thick! The ice cream was very flavoursome, the fresh fruits was a nice touch and the crunchy Oreo crumbs (oh my) gave it an extra texture of goodness. The Matcha Latte was super rich and the Orange Juice was so refreshing.

Overall loved the experience we had here. I loved all the glass windows surrounding the cafe too. There were lots of natural lighting which was really nice. Highly reccomended this place!

This cafe is nice, spacious and modern. Loved the interiors and overall aesthetics.

Food wise, there’s a great selection and mostly everything was delicious. Standout dish was the Okonomiyaki, a big serve, great flavour and not oily at all.

The pancakes were nice, we really liked the peanut butter ice cream but there wasn’t enough of it. And the whole dry ice novelty is a bit lost on me, felt it was kind of unnecessary.

The breakfast tacos were disappointing, the eggs were quite bland but the beans were too over-spiced. Not quite the right balance of flavours for me.

Yesterday I travelled to The Tamper Trap Brighton, taking advantage of the sun. It was definitely well worth the long train journey.

Bright, light and fresh are three words I would use to describe the interior of the cafe. The clean, white design was a beautiful compliment to the food and coffee. It elevated the whole experience to a new level.

For starters, I had an almond milk latte, which was beautiful. The rich, chocolatey undertones were amazing and definitely my favourite type of bean. I can’t fault the coffee and would highly recommend it, as well as the matcha latte if you are looking to spice things up.

I decided on the smashed avo for food, as avocado and poached eggs are my weakness. The smashed avo was served with dukkah mix, feta cheese and a poached egg, all laying on top of multigrain toast (GF for me). It was divine and I was also extremely happy that it came out with fresh chilli on top to cut through the avo and add that extra bite. This, along with the spice mix, gave the dish a lovely flavour and left me wanting more (in the good way)
My friend went for the breakfast tacos and stated that they were amazing as well. He couldn’t get enough and was extremely happy with his choice. We also shared the sweet potato and zucchini fritters, which I highly recommend. They were soft on the inside, but had a lovely crisp outer coating. They also were not bland, which fritter can sometimes be. All my compliments go to the chef and their team for such an amazing spread of produce.

Not only was the food great but the staff were extremely attentive and welcoming. I could not rate the customer service higher.

I definitely would go back and recommend this cafe for all your brunch needs.
I had a great experience at The Tamper Trap. The coffee was amazing and strong.
Our spread consisted of super food bowl, okonomiyaki, smashed avo on toast and hotcakes sandwich. Portions were generous and each dish wasvery flavoursome. My super food bowl was massive and the beetroot hummus was definitely the star of the dish. The okonomiyaki thick and tasty, less cabbagey than most but that's not a bad thing.
The hotcakes sandwich was next level, fluffy and moist it sandwiched a few scoops of creamy home made peanut butter ice cream 🤤.
Service was great, very friendly and attentive. We felt extremely welcomed.

I was fortunate enough to be invited here by Melbourne Food Nerd and Melb_belly, what a treat!

The high rating on Zomato is well deserving, the staff couldn't do enough for us, the cafe ambience lovely and the food was just superb.

We ordered a number of items off the great menu, the hot cake sandwich with home made peanut butter ice cream, this looked like a piece of art and tasted divine! OMG it tasted amazing! The smashed avo with the addition of halloumi was very nice and quite filling, along with the okonomiyaki. The super salad was plentiful and looked stunning with vibrant colours, what a healthy dish.

My double ristretto coffee was full strength and well balanced, perfect for an early Saturday start.

I would like to thank The Tamper Trap for having me and also Melbourne Food Nerd and Melb_belly for a great brunch!

I loved my visit here! The café was really well set out, it was nice and modern without being too over the top.

The service here was an absolute standout, all of the staff were full of smiles and were super helpful during my visit!!! 😃😃 I started off with an almond latte which was really delicious, it was very creamy and the perfect temperature!

For food we had the hotcakes sandwich, smashed avo (with halloumi), okonomiyaki and the super salad! All of the dishes were really yum, well seasoned and were HUGE servings. The okonomiyaki were delicious, there was the perfect amount of sauce without becoming too overbearing to taste the actual pancake itself. The hotcake sandwich was absolutely delightful, they weren’t too sweet, there were a lot of ingredients on the plate but they all fit together so well. I couldn’t get enough of it and I’m glad my friends were too full to eat more of it so I could finish it off myself!!

Was an absolutely amazing brunch experience, couldn’t fault anything! Will 100% be back to try out some of their other options that look incredible too!! ❤️❤️

We had visited The Tamper Trap again to try out their new menu! Here’s what we had!

Salmon two ways - teriyaki seared salmon and seaweed crumbed salmon, potato rosti, poached egg, fennel salad, cauliflower purée, squid ink vinaigrette and tarragon hollandaise! Sounds complicated and complex? You bet it was! Tasted good! You bet it was! The salmon was seared to perfection and the crumbed salmon was just perfect! There was no overly strong fishy other elements on the plate worked really well - flavors I have never really tasted before all combined into one!

Hotcakes sandwich with home made peanut butter ice cream - crunchy Oreo crumble, mascarpone, house made strawberry ice cream, raspberry coulis, seasonal fruits and misted pretzels! Again another complicated but yet delicious dish! This was my fave for the day for presentation and taste! The hotcakes were soft, fluffy and moist and the peanut butter was on point! The crumble itself was a clever addition to make it look like a beautiful garden around the hotcakes! The pretzel on top made it feel like a king and royalty! It was very impressive!

We were very pleased that The Tamper Trap had maintained their standard and served wonderful yummy food! We would go back to try the rest of their dishes! Well done guys!

On this glorious ‪Sunday morning‬ we revisited Tamper Trap in Brighton and were very excited to try the recently undated menu.

We started with a couple of incredibly creamy and smooth coffees and a delicious tarty berry smoothie.

From the new menu we tried the DIY breakfast taco, this dish was so much fun and packed to brim with flavour. I think the beans might be the secret weapon on the plate, such depth of flavour and texture a real clever breakfast option.

The Raspberry Chia pudding is definitely the prettiest one I have ever seen. Layered fresh fruit, chia, apple soaked oats and crunchy granola, this dish is a complete surprise with an underlying chocolate flavour from the chocolate avocado mousse.

The Hotcake sandwich with homemade peanut butter ice cream was just....OMG Incredible. The peanut butter ice cream was insanely delicious and with the light fluffy hotcake, berries and crumb this dish is perfection. Warning this dish is too good to share, don’t make the same mistake I did!!!

Another great dining experience. That’s for having us back.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Previous Review
Tamper Trap surprised us today with some very well put together dishes and delicious smoothies. Just 7 months old you can see from the menu and the way you are greeted as you walk in that staff are still energised and passionate about the food they prepare and the customers they meet.
We started with a coffee and a well balanced green smoothie called Soul Cleanser which contained kale, cucumber, avocado and matcha all in a coconut base. A refreshing smoothie.
For mains I let the deciding of dishes to my dining buddy today as I do tend to gravitate towards the more heavy menu items and would most certainly have gone for the burgers or braised lamb. Instead we had the house baked but seeded bread which came with wild mushrooms, spicy guacamole and carrot and almond hummus. The nutted seeded bread was well toasted and cut thick, so was texturally very satisfying and the toppings were exciting to eat especially the bit of chilli heat in the guacamole.
We also tried the in house smoked salmon with herb ricotta donuts with salad and smoked tzatziki. The salmon was bold on smokiness and while the dounut/fritters were on the drier side this didn’t matter with all the other tasty treats and textures on the plate. A dish to eat combined.
We finished our lunch with rhubarb and ricotta spiced hotcakes which also had poached pears, chocolate mousse and a pour over burnt orange custard. There was incredible flavour on this plate from the mousse to the spiced pancake themselves, it was a fine way to finish the meal.
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to TT over the weekend and I was thrilled to be able to try the delicious new hot cake sandwich complete with yummy Oreo crumb and house made peanut butter ice cream. This was such a heavenly dish and full of interesting textures and different elements that kept each mouthful exciting.
I also had the smashed avocado dish and hubby had the chilli scrambled both our go to breakfast dishes and both well done. I also enjoyed a particularly flavoursome chai which was impressive. A very pleasant afternoon which we ended by stopping in at the nearby Brighton bathing boxes.
Original review
I was invited to Tamper Trap over the weekend a cafe that’s been on my radar since March. The space boasted a greenery wall, plush velvet seating and a gorgeous curved window letting in a stream of light. The staff were super friendly too and they engaged in a really lovely way with their customers.
I held off on beverages to conserve stomach space but my husband enjoyed the coffee. Note the menu is different to the Zomato listed one (bring back the Oreo panna cotta I want to try i!) We ordered the okonomiyaki with crispy ginger chicken and the rhubarb and ricotta spiced hotcakes with poached pears.
I found the savoury dish a little hard and difficult to cut through. While I don’t expect it to have a fluffy pancake consistency it was a lot denser than what I typically experience with this traditional Japanese dish. I did enjoy the flavours of this though.
The hotcake dish was really delicious, the impossibly light chocolate mousse accompaniment was sublime and the pancakes were so packed full of flavour it didn’t even need the the orange pour over custard. I found the rhubarb wasn’t cooked long enough as it was a bit chewy but I really loved the unique composition of ingredients in this dish. So much more than your typical hotcake. And being so close to the beach you can even go for a nice walk to burn it off!
My sister and I went for brunch on Saturday and walked into the restaurant with high expectations, as the reviews here are outstanding. The ambience was amazing and I loved how the restaurant was so cosy and modern. The restaurant was very empty; we thought we had just beat the lunch rush - maybe three to four tables were filled. We ordered and received our food with a 35 minute wait! We could not believe the wait was so long and ended up getting our food way after people who walked in after us, and even watched a table receive their food, finish it and go! Apart from that, the food was delicious and the portions were generous. The pricing for the food was adequate for the amount and everything was overall positive, despite the long wait time.
I was so excited to go to the launch event for the Tamper Trap's winter menu earlier in May.
Very modern interior, with touches of greenery on the walls which I loved. There was a massive blue couch in the corner which I highly recommend sitting on for that regal feeling.
Nice coffee here.
The berry smoothie is a bit more on the tart side but still fresh.
The most delicious, theatrical oreo pancakes are served here. I still dream about them because they're that good. From the thick, dense pancakes to the peanut butter ice cream, it was a sweet lovers dream! I loved the Oreo crumble, which added some texture. I also can't believe how theatrical the misted pretzels were.
The staff were super busy with the full house of people due to the event. However, service was still polite. We had to wait quite a while for our food because so many people's orders went in at the same time, but that was just apart of the event!
Camila Gregurincic
Very nice place! I order the coconut chia pudding and is so well served! I like it but I thing was a little heavy. Would recommend to be more creamy :)
5 stars purely for the flavour of the dishes and the generous servings. The DIY breakfast taco was fun to make yourself if you don’t mind getting a little messy and you can find your own perfect balance between spicy and refreshing. The beans were probably a little undercooked and hard for me, but I’m sure others will find it just fine.
The spinach waffle also looked alluring and my god, that fried egg on top was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen with the runny yolk. Will definitely be back to try more.
Food quality: 5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Actual rating: 4.8/5
Updated review May 2019
We were thrilled to be invited back to the Tamper Trap to try their new menu, especially after being so impressed last visit. As a Bayside local it’s also a massive bonus to have somewhere close by that offers both a great range of dishes & fantastic service.
We started with mandatory & excellent coffee & chai & then moved onto the food. We were both in a healthy mood plus we knew we’d be indulging in the dessert.
The Menagola Granola Bowl was excellent, I felt like something light & fresh & this hit the spot. A perfect ratio of house made granola, açai, yoghurt, peanut butter & fruits and was the best granola bowl I’ve had in a long time.
The Super Food Bowl was packed with freshness & colour. Filled to the brim with smoked salmon, quinoa, edamame, kale, cherry tomatoes, carrot & zucchini noodles with beetroot hummus, it was a fantastic healthy option with a lot of raw veggies.
The finale was the hotcake sandwich with home made peanut butter ice cream. So much theatre in the presentation of this dish as the misted pretzels sitting in dry ice were added to the dish. A generous amount of Oreo crumble, mascarpone, raspberry coulis, fresh berries & home made strawberry ice cream. A lot going on with this dish but the ratios were spot on & you’d have to mad not to love this dish. Every element had its place & it was an absolute delight to eat.
Thanks again to the awesome team at the Tamper Trap for a killer brunch yet again, thanks so much for having us.
Original Review
The Tamper Trap is located on an enviable corner position on Bay Street in Brighton. The interior is light & bright as well as plenty of seating outside for those bringing pets. The staff are fun & friendly, lots of chats & laughs with the customers which is always a good start for me.
We ordered a few dishes to share & drinks. The banging berries smoothie was pink & delicious, filled with all the good stuff & very refreshing.
The house smoked salmon fillet dish was incredible & the plating was gorgeous. I loved the smoky flavour of the salmon & the fillet was nice change from smoked salmon. It combined well with the herb ricotta donuts, corn, cucumber & smoked tzatziki & I really enjoyed this dish.
The okonomiyaki tasted even better than it looked & was served with crispy chicken. The pancakes were well flavoured & packed with veggies and worked well with the chicken.
We finished with the rhubarb and ricotta spiced hotcakes & it looked so vibrant when it arrived at the table. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth and don’t often get excited about hotcakes but these were fabulous. Served with fluffy chocolate mousse, poached pears, rhubarb compute, pistachios & burnt orange custard, these were the best ones I’ve tried. The spiced hotcakes were light & combined with the sweet rhubarb & creamy mousse made for a delicious combination.
Tamper Trap have a fantastic brunch/lunch menu, definitely something to keep everyone happy although the menu differs from the one listed here. We really enjoyed our experience & will look forward to coming back & trying the rest of the menu. Thanks so much for having us.
The food was absolutely delicious here! I opted for the okonomiyaki from the lunch menu! It was something different than what I’m used too - but I thought I’d give it ago!
It was so full of flavour and I couldn’t fault it at all. Before our visit to this café, I had my heart set on the Açai Bowl, but also felt like something savoury on the day. So when it came to ordering, I also ordered a side of smashed avocado and mushrooms - all of my favourites! Açai Bowl was pleasant, I enjoyed the addition of PB.
We ordered some bacon and mushrooms as sides with the Smashed Avocado - always add sides. Eggs were poached perfectly!
Smoothies were fresh - but we would love to see a peanut butter smoothie on offer, or some milk based choices.
Love the location! After seeing and hearing all about their hotcakes sandwich I had to go and try it for myself. Really loved the interior and layout of this cafe. The hotcakes have to admit looked a little small at first but I was definitely full by the end. Presentation is amazing and the peanutbutter icecream is so yummy.
The Tamper Trap, a great name to begin with, is on the cutting edge of what makes brunching a staple in Melbourne, from the interesting flavours to combination of instagram-able dishes makes it such a must visit. In the middle of Brighton, it will without shadow of a doubt be the buzz of the town
Dine And Dash
Tamper Trap is a vibrant café located in the bustling Bay Street of Brighton, specialising in premium coffee and creative and delicious dishes. The decor of the venue was aesthetically pleasing with an abundance of seating both indoors and outdoors and plenty of greenery to decorate the establishment.
The menu had some incredibly unique and exceptional-sounding dishes including a DIY Breakfast Taco and on the lunch menu; an Okonomiyaki Japanese Pancake. We ordered the Okonomiyaki, the Super Food Bowl and the Hotcake Sandwich with home-made peanut butter ice cream. For drinks we had two coffees and the Banging Berries smoothie.
When the food arrived, I was so impressed with the presentation of the food! Well thought-out and such generous servings! The Okonomiyaki was simply to die for! The pancake itself was not too dense and was nice and hot. The mayo and the bbq sauce went extremely well with the dish. The fried chicken that accompanied the dish was also very tasty and cooked well. The Super Food Bowl was a nice refreshing and healthy dish. The zucchini noodles were a great touch and there was a generous serving of smoked salmon.
Finally, the Hotcake Sandwich… it was absolutely incredible. The dish comes with a small ‘show’ where the serve poured misted pretzels on top of the dish, which I found quite interesting and enjoyable to watch! The peanut butter ice cream was very creamy and delectable - it went so well with the hotcake. Plenty of strawberries and other fruits and overall was an outstanding dish. The coffees were great and Banging Berries smoothie was a nice way to finish the meal. Very refreshing and fruity.
The customer service was also something to note - the servers were helpful, attentive and friendly. Today’s experience at Tamper Trap was one to remember. We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch today.
We're never disappointed when we visit Tamper Trap. Easy to get to by train and also plenty of parking around the area. The interior is bright and spacious with various different sized tables plus some seating outside.
The coffee is reliably good and they're constantly refreshing the on-point menu.
Today we checked out some of their new Winter dishes. Everything was fresh and yummy and we love that they put their own spin on everything. Even though the cafe was full the dishes still didn't take too long to come to our table.
We had the spinach waffles with shrooms and goats curd which was AMAZING and just as satisfying as I'd hoped it would be after drooling over their insta photos.
The build your own tacos were fun, yummy and not too spicey. They came with lots of avo and plenty of different ingredients.
We also had the peanut butter hotcakes with strawberry icecream and oreo crumb. Not only were they delicious but looked impressive too.
I sprinted to catch a train just so I can make it to eat this and was it worth it? Yes! But the price tag of $24? 😱
FOOD: I ordered the Hot Cakes and when they came I was slightly surprised to how small they were for $24. Ngl, I expected it to be bigger but I guess the ingredients used to make it might have been pricey? 🤷🏻‍♀️ The hotcakes were thick despite being small tho! And they were filling :) But I have a beast of an appetite so to satisfy me completely, is a challenge! It’s an amazing dish however and it definitely is one of the best pancakes I’ve had in Melbourne so far! The hotcakes were soft and fluffy but yet had a slight chew to them so it was really perfect in texture, the homemade peanut butter ice cream was good but I felt it lacked abit of peanut butter flavour 🙁 But I loved the amount of chocolate soil they gave! The maple syrup was a perfect addition too! Overall, I loved the dish but it definitely is on the pricier side especially for the portion 😅
SERVICE: Service was pleasant and great!
AMBIENCE: It’s super comfortable and it’s a nice view for just a chill day!
Tamper Trap is definitely an excuse for me to come to Brighton for a very relaxing day and I definitely do not regret coming here and trying the dish and the only thing I would wish for is bigger portions for the price! But I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND the hotcakes if you ever stumble across Tamper Trap!
What a great meal this was. Situated by North Brighton train station it’s very easy to get to. The cafe is great and has outside seating for those hot sunny days in Melbourne!
The staff are friendly and chatty which is something I always look for at cafes.
The atmosphere is great, the menu is awesome and the overall experience was quality.
My friend and I absolutely loved it here.
I ordered a colourful salad with sourdough and eggs. My buddy ordered the cheesey croquettes. Both were massively enjoyed.
A quality brunch 9/10
Eats With Kayli
One of the dishes I have to try when I’m at a cafe is their steak sandwich (who doesn’t love a good steak sandwich right?). Their steak sandwich did not disappoint! The Swiss cheese and onion relish were so good. Love when it comes with crispy fries.
Their hot cakes reminded me of fluffy ginger bread cookies!! How good does that sound right?
I’m so keen to try their other dishes!
Been excited to visit the Tamper Trap for so long; their beautiful instagram is truly a showcase! The food and service definitely met and exceeded my expectations.
Food: Went for the Menegola Granola which was presented as lovely as art. The acai and yoghurt with fresh fruits and granola was a refreshing and sweet combination. The Cheesy Croquette Benny was also very favourable; a delicious hollandaise with chorizo, bacon and poached eggs. The flavours all complimented each other well, with the chorizo and bacon adding the texture and flavour that balanced out with the smashed avocado.
Service: The staff were each very welcoming and attentive. The food arrived quite promptly and presented in a lovely manner.
Ambience: While the cafe wasn't extremely busy, it did have quite a few customers. The atmosphere was very comfortable.
Who Loves Good Food
Modern space. Super friendly service, the staff here are so social & really jolly! Coffee was good, food was marvellous. Japanese pancakes were nice, not oily at all but just a tad dry. We loved everything else. 4.5
Bayside will always have special place in my heart, having grown up next to the beach and being able to see it every day. It is the friendliest neighbourhood, filled with lots of energetic puppies, students of all ages looking for the cute baristas, and the oldies who have conversations to share. Tamper Trap is right in the middle of its bustling suburban life.
The City Lane
The Tamper Trap is a popular Brighton cafe offering a diverse menu full of bunch favourites done simply and well, along with several more unique options.
Being Delicious
The staff was friendly, the food was tasty and the service was quick! No much more you can ask for from a cafe! The atmosphere itself was lovely, the dishes looked gorgeous and the food tasted even better.
Burgers Of Melbourne
I was pleasantly surprised at the meal I had from Tamper Trap as I hadn't seen much of them on social media. The food was fresh and I even saw celebrity blogger @foodtom as I was leaving.
Tagged along as a +1 to a collaboration at the tamper trap, and I have to say that they aced the flavours. The japanese pancakes were amazing, but I have to say that my favourite was their sandwich. Of which I asked for double the meat because you can never have too much protein. Top place, I'll certainly be back. My Partner loved the food too.
Gastrology
Offering patrons quality coffee alongside tasty brunch options, there is a lot to love at The Tamper Trap. The house smoked salmon is great so make sure you try it – be it in as the main affair in the House smoked salmon fillet with spicy herb ricotta fritter doughnuts or as a side in the nutrition dense smoked spice tofu bowl.
Fantastic!!! Super Cool and modern cafe that are incredibly welcoming and friendly, and even more so to your pets! They even give out doggie treats to all 4 legged friends while you sit back and enjoy some of their deluxe breakfast and lunch menu items which are as decadent as they are tasty.
The staff here are also all lovely so it was an absolute pleasure to dine here and I definitely look forward to going back again and again.
