Review The Baths Middle Brighton - Brighton

The warm and cozy place for hangout. The boss lady is very friendly and service is pretty good. Foods are so so delicious. And the prices are very reasonable and quick service. I love the warm atmosphere there. Must visit this place if you were to visit the see. One minus star because the chai latte that I ordered was not hot enough. I highly recommend this place and hope to see you soon again.

Popped in to meet the staff as a potential wedding venue, the crew were absolutely lovely taking us through the venue and making their pitch. It's a great venue with over water views of the bay and the baths and easy to access. Finished off with a coffee downstairs to discuss and the coffee was great, relaxed vibe downstairs and nice views. Hoping can join all the dots and get our wedding booked here!

Amazing experience having had lunch here. The place had history and wasnt too modernized so you feel the tradition. Pay parking all around, service excellent, being by the bearch a 10 a least. The menu was simple and straight forward. The oysters are one of the best i have had. All the food we ordered was really delish. Definitely worth driving there for a relaxed and laid back lunch. Will be back always. Pruces worth it.

Gorgeous sunny afternoon in Brighton we visited this restaurant for lunch and it was delicious with the water view. Great service and good value. Cheers

Popped in for a late lunch... scrumptious calamari and fish and chips!!! Never had better calamari. One minus point...iced coffee was meh. But 10/10 for the food and service.

Great place to sit on a nice afternoon however just don’t expect to get served in any hurry or well. Ordering outside is now done via an app which allows zero scope to deviate at all from the set menu. I wanted a double vodka and soda and lime with ice….. no can do as each thing is an extra and you can only have one… next step was to head in to order… but you are not permitted so they say they will send someone out…. Ten minutes elapse and nobody came… I left …. 25 minutes of my life I won’t get back…. Head to sons of Mary and get served as you sit and the drinks in 3 minutes…. Foods on the way …. Life is good….. like it’s supposed to be when you go out for dinner. This incarnation of the Brighton baths is a catastrophe. Don’t bother

This place has the potential to be amazing but at the moment the lack of guidance is really showing. If the cafe is even turning a profit, it is only due to the location. Prime beachfront real estate with an amazing view. It was great sitting inside in the warm while gazing out at the stormy grey of the sea. However, the service inside is completely chaotic. We were constantly being served by different waiters, and they only came when we managed to wave them down. The wait staff lack leadership, and it seemed like they were all wandering around aimlessly. This place also can’t seem to decide if it wants to be a cafe or a restaurant, and it seems like it’s trying to pull them both off at the same time but ends up shooting itself in the foot in the process. If I was the owner, I would completely ditch the restaurant concept and focus on being a cafe, due to the fact that the majority of my traffic in this location is going to be coming from people walking along the beach during the day. The coffee itself is decent, so is the hot chocolate. I got a croissant to eat which was nice enough, but it was given to me plain and there was no initiative to ask if I would like condiments. Eventually I flagged down a waiter and asked if they had Nutella. I was bluntly told no. At this moment, I felt it would have been good service to ask if I instead wanted butter for example. Instead I was left to pursue this option on my own. All in all the business is doing a great job of stuffing up a prime location. With better management this could be an outstanding cafe.

The location is perfect on the balcony. However service was appalling, we waited 20 mins for a salad to come with our dinners & same for a Caesar salad when all meals were already served. It was over priced , menu limited , only asked if we wanted drinks once & waited over 20 mins for them to arrive. Wasn’t offered tea or coffee. And to top the night off they charged over $5 to use a credit card . Would not recommend this place.

having brunch with family members on a saturday after wedding on friday , found some staff hopeless as they didnt listen to coffee , tea or other drink orders properly , stuffed most of the drink orders up and were very slow , the kitchen staff were good and the meals ok but when we went to leave we were told they cant split the bill unless we work it out so we did. Dont know why some staff are paid , very sad...

Beautiful friends’ lunch. My bff had the Duck not the Special & loved it. She’s very allergic to fish & fish products so Chef had to be careful not to cross contaminate. He was great when we spoke later. I had the magnificent Beef Cheeks with sublime mash. We had green beans as a side. All lovely including the soft, hot bread beforehand. For Dessert we both had the apple & rhubarb crumble with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Gorgeous! Thank you.

I would like to thank The Baths for providing my family a wonderful weekend we came in for breakfast eleven of us,service was friendly, polite and our drinks and meals came out in reasonable time, there were no complaints , Later in the afternoon we held our wedding ceremony and reception there,I cannot thank Rohanna enough for all her hard work and making our dreams come true,Rohanna was an absolute delight to deal with,no request was too hard ,also a thank you to Daria also an absolute delight to have as part of your team, Saturday nights staff were all fantastic, friendly and worked hard all night. The Baths, Rohanna is an asset to your business and I can’t thank her enough for making our wedding day so special and all our dreams for our day happened, Thank you Rohanna

Great location with a splendid view of the bay. Food was disappointing, my Ploughmans Lunch came with stale dry bread and not enough of it anyway and my companions' salad was rather bland. Xmas pudding was very nice though.

Great venue with friendly efficient service & of course the view - perfect! We arrived on time for an early dinner booking & sat waiting for our overseas guests outside on the deck. They arrived late & joined us for a drink. The hostess was delightful & didn’t rush us as the restaurant filled up to capacity & our window table was kept for us. Apologies to the chefs for adding to their ‘everyone ordering at the same time mania’. Food excellent and no delay. Couldn’t have been happier. Thanks ‘The Baths’.

Slow service. To the point of ignoring your request.Poor quality food and overpriced
Hannah Lindgren
Absolutely terrible. We waited over an hour for drinks!! Arena if thats her name was horrible and rude. She rolled her eyes at us constantly, had a go at us for not booking. Gave one of the customers the wrong drink when they cant have milk. And never told us we cant split the bill and refused to work it out for us so we have to break up the bill and do our math. The rest of the staff were lovely and the kitchen made great food otherwise. Will never come back!!

One of my favourite places for brekky, plus excellent spot for a quick coffee after my evening walks. Friendly and kind staff who make everyone feel comfortable and welcome
Alison Slater
Lovely food with quite a few gluten-free options! Location unsurpassable! Nice staff and a very chilled atmosphere!
Janey Francis
Terrible service - food that didn't arrive , was cold , forgot about . Drinks that never showed up and meals served without plates to eat them from . Specials out of stock , and staff clueless . What a shame in such a magnificent location .

Exceptional service and food was wonderful. We had the flathead and it was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend you visit

Very unorganised business! One staff member in particular was very rude. Taking the order for drinks was a nightmare and it took over an hour to get all the drinks. They refused to split bills and then asked our group to sit down and work out how much we all owed. The lady in charge at the time was spoken to from several people from our table and maintained she did nothing wrong. It was a terrible way to finish off our wedding weekend. I will not be back and I will never recommend such a poorly run business

There's been a lot of harsh reviews of late which i'm not sure are totally justified.
You really can't beat the location, right on the sand with loads of indoor and outdoor seating to capitalise on that view.
Staff are nice but the service is very slow. We were shown to a table outside and i ended up going in to get my own water and to order at the bar as i got sick of waiting.
Good range of menu & beverage options and the food and coffee is reasonable quality in our experience. Coffee also isn't bad.
Nice spot to chill with a view
Stephanie
Went here very recently for what we wanted to be a Saturday morning coffee with the family. VERY DISAPPOINTED. No service, had to ask for everything and long wait times of nearly ten mins, muffin was disgusting & extremely tasteless. Was look up and down by the staff and laughed at for my appearance. Coffee came cold and was very bad. Overall vibe of the cafe was very poor. Similar experiences were around us with people shocked.

Nice spot to pop in for a glass of bubbly when you’re in the area. Pretty views and lots of outside seating which is fab on a summers day. Lots of food options. We had the chicken salad and fish and chips. Come for the views 👍

Terrible rude service, terrible coffee, overpriced everything - don’t bother.

We have been coning to this cafe for a while and always enjoyed good food. We went there last week and ordered seafood spaghetti. Very disappointed with quality of seafood. The Ingredients were not fresh. It was so bad that we couldn't finish eating our meals. Whoever is working in the kitchen, is ruining reputation of the business. We felt sick for the rest od the day from badly prepared food.Although the service from waitress was very good, very friendly and polite.
We will not be going there any time soon. Very disappointed...

3.8 out of 10. Our experience was good. It’s a nice space and you cannot beat the view of the sea and the odd bather, boat or ship. You can also get an amazing view of the city from here. We came post lunch for a couple of concluding drinks. The wines were good. The service was fine. We had a nice time here and hence our score.

I absolutely love coming here! Eating outside whether that be at the front or the back of the cafe (beach views) it’s always great vibes!

These soft shell crab tacos were such a perfect option accompanied with the wine!

Only good for the view. They took ages to take our order and then they forgot to put through our order. They also brought out the wrong desert. 👎

Went for breakfast............never again, service was that slow I could have gotten up to make my own breakfast. I ordered poached eggs, when they came they were hard poached on this smallest piece of sourdough that needed to be toasted.

NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!

Had brunch here with 4 girlfriends. 3 of us wanted to order off the breakfast menu and the other 2 off lunch's. At 11.55 we ordered breakfast as the menu stopped at 12. The waiter took our order and put it to the kitchen but then didn't come back to take the other 2 lunch orders for about 20 minutes. She was run off her feet. Food was of ok quality but stingy portions- the side of chips was tiny! Great view, love the paper straws, love the catering to dogs... but average overall.
Amy Smith
Beautiful restaurant with a great view. Staff were lovely and the food was delicious. We had the fish and the lamb and they were cooked very well! The only complaint I would have is that there was a family of about 10 people who were VERY loud the entire time. It would have been nice if the staff had asked them to be a little more respectful. Other than that-it was a lovely experience. Will definitely be coming back!

Nothing like bad staff to ruin a great place. Have been coming to this place for years and I have never experienced the rolling of the eyes bad attitude of one female waitress. When one person in our party asked for a coffee she walked off without asking anyone else. Then when they put the music up quite loudly we asked if they could put it down as we couldn't hear each other. When this wasn't done with the first request by a busy waitress I asked the lady who had walked off without completing our coffee order if she could turn the music down before pouring our glasses of wine as we would prefer to leave if this was what was going to be the volume. With this she rolled her eyes at the barman right in front of me. I own a cafe bar and always tell my staff to think about the clients and if the vibe is right the music can go up so thought by telling her to consider who the clients of the day were....not many there but what were were all relatively older so the music should never have gone up. She took this as aggressive rather than informative to which we promptly left. I have coffees and lunches regularly each summer at this venue so will stay well away until staff turn over in a year or two. What a shame. And whats worse she overcharged us. I was too angry to notice until I got home after completing our lunch at the ever popular and packed Pantry. This is my first ever review as I would rather talk to management but too angry to call!

A dog friendly cafe right on the beach which does great food too, sounds like a pretty rare thing but it’s superb. Place was busy but we got a seat straight away and order was taken quickly. Got the fish and chips which was really nice... fresh fish and a light batter with great flavours. Also tried the seafood linguine which was very good. Food and drink came out quickly, definitely a good spot for lunch if you’re in the area.

I had my baby shower lunch at The Baths, with 18 guests. This is why I give this venue 1 star:

*We were seated at our table and then 1 hour later received our bread rolls – after persistence on my part that we get served

*Over 30 minutes after receiving our rolls we finally received entrée – close to 1 ½ hours after being seated
*By the time mains came we were told to quickly eat them because the venue needed to set up for a wedding

*When I went to pay, I was greeted by a frustrated/ angry manger, who basically threw my bill at me. When I asked why she was frustrated she told me that she was told we had arrived over an hour late for our booking. This was a clearly a lie as we’d been at our table the whole time waiting to be served. When I clarified this the manager mumbled something about being stressed because they needed the venue cleared for the wedding.

*Our dessert was finally served outside, whilst the staff were ushering us out.

*When we left the venue I received a call asking if we’d ‘accidentally taken’ any of the decorations for the wedding that was being set up as we left. Not only was I accused of stealing (which we had not), but also this demonstrates this venues complete disorganisation – how does one loose items for a wedding?
With the disorganisation, rude service & accusations I would never advise a group booking at this venue.

Beachside Vibes! This place was literally picked with us just driving past... That looks good. Beautiful sunny day to be out in the sun with a beer in hand some damn good fish and chips and calamari. Great venue, location, service and food.
Julie Cham
Seems the restaurant has changed its chef or sth and the food quality and taste has jumped from 2 to above 4. Recommend the fish and chips here. It may need to update the new menu on zomato if I remember the new one today seems a little different.
Iris Myandowski
Goodness me. This cafe promises so much with it's beach front glamour location and seemingly extensive vegetarian friendly menu. But the so called lunch main items actually reveal themselves to be tiny side salads while you're blasted with freezing air conditioning in the middle of winter.
Whats On The Grill?
Beautiful location & great views with nice but casual customer service. Let downs were the food & price - the food was a bit oily and the ingredients didn’t taste fresh and when you are charging high prices, this doesn’t excuse it. Coffee too was ordinary.
Michael Walsh
Been to the Baths a number of times but today we left underwhelmed. Avocado Smash on the side resembled and tasted like cheap avocado dip and disappointed - be true to original idea or describe it differently. Hot meals came out cooling.

I am surprised that this place rates under 3. I have been there many times and it’s 3+ (for me) compared to its peers. Having given its sister Restaurant operation upstairs a scathing review (same owner, I have found) I feel compelled to assure readers that it’s different at ground level.
All good.

I have found that one’s entry experience is usually a product of busyness or a reflection of how you treat it. It’s a sea side cafe, for goodness sake! The staff are always good to us. I feel they try hard to give us, and others, the best seat available.

Food is good and moderately priced. Service is very welcoming. This is evidenced by the many families on a Sunday night. Last night we had soft shell crabs (3-serve) each presented on a round flat pasta, with greens underneath each crab. Superb value and taste. Then we followed with the seafood spaghetti. This Included mussels, fish and calamari. Again, nicely cooked, great taste and value. House Rose nice and dry. Frankly so much better than the restaurant upstairs. All of this outlooking onto the bay, on a beautiful day. A terrific casual setting for catch ups, or to keep your partner feeling appreciated. My lady was very happy, my wallet stayed intact and we left feeling good about our world in Melbourne.

Footnote, over the years I have been to this Cafe alone on many occasions - and not ever suffered the dreaded “single diner” treatment. Also we were on our way home from lunch at the trendy “Red Hare” at the Jackalope Hotel in Balnarring. The Baths was better, more palatable food, at half the price. Warning - it can be pretty busy on a sunny Friday or Saturday. Not sure you can book. But that’s good.
Geoff Birtles

We often frequent this cafe as the mid point of our early morning rides to sample their delicious coffee.
This cafe is usually very busy on weekend but the service is still fast and friendly.
Riley Fletcher
The best cooked calamari I have ever had. The dish was light without being disappointing in quantity, and the soft-shell crab redeemed my faith in crab as a food after a few not so great experiences. Also, the food was delivered quickly and was well plated. The only negative there could possibly be is that some meals seem a little expensive for what they are.

However, I will definitely be coming back here!
Soph
Highly disappointing.
Overpriced for tiny tasteless servings of main meals. A $9.00 small bowl of chips was shocking we got the leftover hard dried up bits! The aioli was also missing.
Nice view but that's it!
You won't see us again!
Elaine
That was my last brunch in 2017, the taste was pretty good. We ordered flat white, latte and cappuccino. The coffee were just ok. Besides coffee, I love the wagyu beef burger! The patty was very fresh. We also tried soft shell crab, I like that as well.
We sit outside near the beach, the sun was very strong, but the weather was nice. I quite enjoyed the sunshine. Lovely day plus lovely place, that’s my melbourne life. :)
Charlotte Cooper
You don’t have a choice, you have to go there for a nice food. The food is no special and expensive. The staff is way too chilled that they don’t even give you cutlery or water.
I have been there so many times and please take my word for it.
Mark Laughton
Highly disappointed with our service. We arrived without anyone greeting us. After asking, we were informed that someone would come and greet us once we had sat down. No one arrived. We subsequently asked two more members of staff to serve us (we only wanted a couple of drinks), we were eventually served our drinks after waiting for at least 15 minutes. To add insult to injury we then had to queue up to pay for our delayed drinks. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Will not be returning.
Eater123
We got there first thing at 7am and had polite service and a great view. However the food was pretty dismal. My Coen frittas were cold and the hash brown side had come from a bulk buy packet, the fruit salad was a few thin slices of fruit spread out on the plate and the smashed avo was average at best. The food all came out at different times although the orders were one after another and at 7am there was only 1 other patron. Great location however would not go back.
Mirko
What a fantastic location, but that’s it.
My parents love the place for the view. They are from overseas and are happy to come here pretty much every morning of their stay for breaky or afternoon coffee. I’m glad they don’t know better and they are enjoying themselves, but for me as Melbourne cafe lover, it’s just not good enough.
3 days in a row we got the wrong coffee. When ordering, very often you need to be initiate and grab the attention of the staff to be served. Things ordered on the side are ignored and the food just looks thrown together. There seems to be no love for Ingredience and everything is kind of boring. From bought in hash browns to basic ham on the Benedict. Undercooked and cold bacon, to burned toast, you can get it here. It just doesn’t make sense in a city where breakfast has become a culture. I don’t want to tell anyone how to execute their business, but I believe that such great location should be accomplished by great food and unfortunately that’s not the case...
N.B
You pay for the view and nothing else! Ordered the pizza and fish and chips. Pizza tasted like a $3 Aldi pizza heated up. The fish was the same and the chips tasted like awful oven chips! Really was no redeeming factors in the food!
Chris Ferizis
Terrible service and understaffed. Charge a fee for credit card transactions. Food average and small portions. $14 for a chocolate mouse. Manager disinterested. Definitely not going back!
Tessa Benn
Visiting the baths on a busy Sunday morning, I enjoyed a delicious salmon breakfast which was served quickly and with a smile. The front of house staff were very friendly and attentive, and I was able to sit by the window and enjoy the fantastic view. I'd love to come back on a sunnier day as they have a large sea deck.
Stephanie Riederich
Best views in town located literally ON THE BEACH! Great for a romantic date or to bring the whole family. Great customer service and super friendly staff! A must try is their calamari, tender and crispy and cooked to perfection. To finish it off with their super creamy and rich chalet mousse and a hot chocy!
Ben Pickard
Beautiful location, service is really efficient, and the staff are always smiling. Food was delicious. Highly recommend the Atlantic Salmon. Would definitely come here again!

Had a lovely lunch here with my family, we sat in the sun by the water, what a wonderful view. The staff were lovely and helped my father in law choose a suitable dish (garlic allergy). I'll definitely be back again soon.
Foooooood
Had the pancakes - there was no mention of banana when I asked about pancakes, yet was served a banana. They were pre cooked pancakes they had heated up and were still half cold, tough and gross. Mum had a Benedict - the ham was literally packet ham from Safeway.... all good was cold and so so so gross for the hugely expensive prices.
Julian Kowal
The manager was rude and patronising to our group of four.

We were made to wait 45 minutes for our reserved, table while 2 tables were free the entire time. The initial table provided was too small for our group.

He responded sarcastically to our requests and was aggressive in his tone.

I wish we had left the restaurant when we sat down and saw the table set with glasses in terrible condition. The view is nice but the restaurant's decor almost ruins it. Outside area is pleasant, though. We ordered hummus with turkish bread, beef noodles salad that was on special and a burger. Hummus was avarage, burger was ok but the noodles salad...tiny serve, no dressing and the "beef" was actually the burger but cut in small pieces. I know a restaurant should optimise its ingredients, but this was a joke! 21 dollars for something they probably spent 2 dollars to make. Service was average. Chai latte was good, but the Aperol Sprits was flat and bitter. Not coming back!
Roshanak Samadirad
This is a nice spot to have your coffee and a light lunch, when you walk along the beach, always get a good service. I highly recommend their turkish bread with hummus.
Dulicieux
We just had some afternoon tea here so we ordered a few snacks such as bread with hommus and wedges with some milkshakes. The service was good and the views were great. Wedges were pretty small though for about $10.

Dear the ghost town of brighton baths. I'm not surprised your restaurant is deserted and abandoned, as it is run by staff with a crappy attitude. My friend and I went there with the intention of having a nice breakfast after a lovely stroll on the beach but NO. We were pressured into ordering our drinks within the first two seconds we sat down. Due to this I made the worst mistake to contribute to their income by paying for an overpriced crappy drink that deserves to be down the toilet along with the business. So I ordered the watermelon mint and lime 'freshly squeezed' juice which was $10 for a glass of major disappointment with a huge serving of ice that made up majority of the drink. I feel like i have the responsibility to pass on to the rest of their future customers that this place is totally overpriced and most of their products resemble the home brand items from the super market, but instead you are being charged 10x the price. This was prevalent as my friend ordered the orange juice and was greatly disappointed when she was served for what tasted like it was from Maccas. Here's a little tip, maybe buy the home brand orange juice, it will be 20x the size and half the price. She legit paid $5 for a glass, half filled with ice of artificial orange juice that tasted like acidic cow piss. Disgusting. Then as we discovered how low the quality of service and food were available, we decide to leave instead of getting overcharged once again with the smashed avocado that we knew was going to leave us unsatisfied. After we complained and tried to leave, we were harassed by the incredibly rude and badly dressed manager. It was bad enough we were paying $15 for the crappiest and overpriced drinks, but on top of that she wanted us to pay for meals that we decided to cancel even though that hadn't been prepared yet. She said she will let us off THIS TIME, but i'm writing here to guarantee that there WILL NOT BE A NEXT TIME AFTER SUCH A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. This company relies on scamming people in order to remain in business and doesn't care about the experience of customers, hence why the rate of customers is dropping like dead flies.

Came here for breakfast hung over and although the views are great the food is not.
Had a stale corn zucchini fritter, terrible coffee service average the only thing going is the views,
I might just order a water next time and just watch the seagulls, such a pity because upstairs is so great but downstairs is like a really bad canteen, or maybe the chef was hung over and didn't care I don't know, I just hope I don't get IBS from eating here.... won't be back... Bye Felicia...
A friend suggested this place for lunch as we were in the area making our way back into the city. Had a lovely lunch ~ salt n pepper calamari and mocktail, quite satisfying even amongst the mucky weather.

Love the whole thing about have the baths and gym alongside it. Should have brought my cozzies, to enjoy the water. Great views of the beach front and city even amongst the thick clouds.

Great service, friendly staff, reasonable priced and calamari had plenty of flavour. Watermelon cocktail was refreshing.

Def Will be back.

MG

Had lunch there yesterday fantastic views but ordinary food and service not that great either also think they overcharged me for a pint that I did not drink won't be back any time soon too many better places to go.
Adi Rozen Tsur
Got charged $10 for cold pressed juice made off site. Way over priced. Had no fresh juice to offer yet had the nerve to charge $10 for the smallest amount of juice
Luna
I have no idea why people gave such low rating for this lovely cafe. All I want to say is that it has a beautiful view, lovely staff and fantastic food! We came here for dinner, very reasonable price and guess what? The steak we order was so stunning! Beautifully cooked and full of flavour. It was much much much better than those so called 'steak specialist' out there! I had a special dish named 'spiced chicken gnocchi with beetroot purée', unbelievably delicious! It's bit windy at night down in middle Brighton, but the lovely staff offered me a blanket as they could tell how much I love the beach view seat. Will come back again. For the food, for the beach, for the love. ❤️
Wolf Of Collins St.
Avoid this place. This place in the 38 degree temperature do not bother to turn on an Air Con, just silly fans were turning. I asked for Pepsi max, I was given a small glass full of ice and a drop of Pepsi, when I said I want a can, the response was sorry sir. So return it for a pint of Peroni, but the pint has the lip stick from the previous drinker around it. Staffs don't know how to treat customers, parking in front of it is as expensive as CBD. The only reason I gave it 2.5 was the salmon which was truly delicious.
Mark Strathmore
The view saves it, but as a restaurant it leaves a lot to be desired. We've been here often and many times orders are forgotten or incorrect. They seem to run out of ingredients more than the average restaurant and several times I've experienced them being down to one of the four beers on tap. Still worth going on a good weather day, but not much more here than the view.
Westbiwan
Ordered the fish and chips. Portion size of the fish was generous but chips were lacking. The beer batter reminded me of a hint of Wendy's donuts but still not bad.
West_Tee
Ordered: Burger.
Very nice burger, chips were average.
Nice place with good live music the day I went. 1st January 2017.
Small menu however.
Mr Dagobah
This place is awesome, 200 meters from the dog beach, bike path that takes you a long the st.kilda beach line with the Melbourne skyline in the background, the historic old building , for a first timer to the cafe I was impressed with the food, staff that greet you with a smile, great ambience , the ambience on a busy hot day is what Melbourne cafe's a built on !Service was quick!Staff are friendly work well together, always greet you with a smile know matter how busy it is, always happy to answer a question!
Food was great ,butter chicken to die for!the best salt and pepper calamari and then to wash it down with a nice cold crisp beer!
What more could you ask for
Great job guys! Keep up the amazing job!

Keep on driving, don't be pulled in by the location.
Food was horrible, stale bread & dips, burger patty was vile. Instantly remembered why we swore we'd never return to this place.
I gave feedback I'm certain will fall on deaf ears.
Save your money and head to McDonald's, at least you won't get ripped off for it.
Alex Kompos
Made an account to say I really didn't like this place. Food was expensive and not worth the price, gin and tonic was flat, water was served in paper cups for everyone, service was slow and also they tried to squeeze us on a 4 person table with 7 people because they had a booking of 8 (we tried to book but they said no bookings under 10) would only come back again to piss off my friends.
Jessica
What a place to visit on the weekend on a sunny day. Great view of the beach. Waited for quite a while for a table but it was packed. Food service is quick. The waitresses aren't that attentive but they are serving multiple tables at once which is understandable. Would definitely come back
We Nomz
Ordered prawns and chorizo linguine and steak with sweet potato chips. Food was average. Service is friendly and food came pretty quick. The only attraction for this place is probably the beach view, and go during the day if you really have to visit.
Fi Styles
Our lunch here was fabulous! Lindsay, our waitress was sensational & couldn't have been more helpfu & friendly. The food was devine & so we're the views.

My hubby and I went for cycling over a weekend to the Brighton beach and decided see to have a brunch at this place which is situated on the banks of the beach. The place was almost full but we managed to get a table at the outer area where we can eat with a view.

We ordered for roasted mushrooms with ricotta and spaghetti marinara and while placing the order, we told the lady that we are vegetarians and we don't want meat in the spaghetti. After a long wait, our order arrived and to our surprise, there wasn't meat in the spaghetti but seafood. I was damn pissed off. Don't you guys get them awning of being vegetarians. We asked her to replace it. After sometime, there was a vegetarian one on our table. The food was good and not great. This place will make sure to punch a hole in your pocket.

Ambience - 3/5
Service - 2/5
Food- 2.5/5
Value for money - 2/5

Loved the view of the city skyline out the windows here so aim for a window side table if you can! The breakfast menu we dined from finished at 12 and offered standard breakfast fare. Service was very friendly. The closest Car parking fees are exorbitant so try for a side street.

Bottle of passata with some seafood and pasta DOES NOT make a Marinara! Frozen fish from Aldi and a few dried chips IS NOT fish and chips
APPALLING ! I live in the area not a tourist WHat A RIP OFF!

I regularly come in with the family and it's always a great experience. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the view is amazing and the food is wonderful. It does get fairly busy from time to time, especially on the weekends when the the sun is out, but it's a great atmosphere and a genuinely good way to spend the day!
Restaurant Rescue
It's a Great Location.
With a place that size, it needs a corporate system, We found all the staff are just running around chasing their tail, working on the edge of their seats with no strategic plans. It could do with some structure and training, and a strong succession plan, as the venue will be there for centuries and eons to come, even after a possible Tzunami. There is room for improvement on the food and drink consistency, which is the main reason why people frequent restaurants and cafe's. Although upstairs is a try-hard Stokehouse (upstairs), it can do better, but hats off for hanging in there. Do we sacrifice food for a view? Restaurants are a hard Yakka industry, so we give full credit to all those in this industry, from dishwashers, cleaners, front of house staff, chef's and managers and all those not mentioned. Keep Rocking Brightonians!

We arrived with lot expectations being a beach side Cafe....
But not much to offer... Average food and even average coffee....
May be a bad day to visit the place....
Too Much Cake
I really wanted to give this a five as the location is brilliant, just on the beach. Food was OK but found the service to be below average. Maybe they were understaffed and stressed out. Not the fault of the cafe that the parking is expensive.

We arrived here Good Friday and was greeted with a guy who walked us to the door of the outdoor deck and then said, "you can try and find a dry table". The waiter then took our order rather fast as it was quiet. Our food arrived before our coffees. My scrambled eggs were not nice and the hash brown was definitely from a birds eye packet. My coffee arrived and the soy milk had all clumped together. No one checked on how we were going or if we needed anything else. Won't be returning in a hurry

The setting is lovely but the food is of poor quality and over-priced.

I would only recommend eating here if you were starving and there were no better options.

Really average. Nothing special or interesting about the menu. Service really average and you order at the bar but prices are set as if you would have proper table service.
We ordered 2 of the eggs Benedict but wanted bacon instead of ham. They charged us for added bacon even though they took the ham out. The other dinners had the salmon version and someone had an almond croissant. With a group of 4 and two of the orders being charged $4 each for a change of ham to bacon we thought it was pretty poor in terms of thinking about your customers.
Definitely wouldn't go back, location is nice but nothing else is good about this cafe.

Disappointed.
Took my mum here for her birthday and left feeling very unsatisfied. The fact that parking is $5 an hour outside is ridiculous and very off putting. The glasses were grotty and looked unwashed and I saw a few other patrons complain too. The menu was different to the one shown on Zomato and they refused to make something off their own menu despite only being simple ingredients similar to other plates, I believe the chef was just lazy and couldn't be bothered. Ended up ordering a mains size of the salt and pepper calamari which was possibly the worst I've had. It came with a tiny serving of rocket, aioli and an excessive amount of salt. Only positive is the view of the beach. Been here before for breakfast but would not return based on this over priced bad experience.

Such a nice location! Came here with some relatives after seeing the Brighton beach huts, had some iced coffees! It was average, they could've at least spruced it up a bit. A few of them complained it to be weak. I had a iced chai although it didn't have it on the menu, which was nice.
Tessa
Such a disappointment! Only thing I liked about the place was the view. Shabby and dirty floors and furniture. Seems like they can continue to survive because of their location. Our waiter was grumpy and barely spoke. Other staff seemed happier to stand and flirt in the bar. Serving size of food was small and unfortunately not all that tasty! The cheese on the burger a pre-sliced square of tasty cheese. I won't be returning when there are so many other great options around.

THE MOST DISGUSTING FOOD I HAVE EVER SEEN. ALL OF OUR EGGS CAME OUT FREEZING COLD. I returned my food and got a refund, the lady gave me a pastry to apologise. I made a point of asking the waitress to touch my eggs to see how cold they were and her face said it all. Most disappointing breakfast i have ever expierenced. I felt so ripped off, $9 FOR 2 POACHED EGGS AND ONE PIECE OF TINY STALE TOAST? The Veggo Voyager was the smallest plate of food for $18. Im so annoyed I have even sent an email to the manager.
DO NOT EAT HERE, YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED. Never again.

What a shame. Beautiful view, friendly staff then went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Ruined by bad coffee and flavourless, odd textured food.
Went for breakfast with 5 others - smashed avocado (could see the mint and coriander, but not taste it - poor quality), couldn't taste any feta, on thin slices of sourdough and poached eggs. Pancakes looked like vanilla muffins, and tasted heavy and bready with the odd berry.
This score of 1.5 is for the great service, and nothing else.
Lauren Brumby
Quite possibly the worst customer experience I've ever had. We were greeted by abrupt sarcastic staff who weren't helpful. Dietary requirements were also refused. Overall a very unpleasant experience.

Bad service , dirty glasses , no thanks ,I didn't look at previous review, a really poor experience never to be repeated lovely place , poor management

This place was average... "Please wait to be seated"... We waited and waited and noone assisted so we ended up helping ourselves. I had the Miss Royale which is basically eggs benedict with smoked salmon. I didn't like it. They used apple cidar to make the hollandaise sauce and it was so sour which really put me off. We waited for about 15 minutes before our juices came out. It wasn't even that busy. Not going back here.
Barrykennedy1983
Was very happy with our recent visit! Service was prompt, food was delicious, and prices were fair. We were happy with the window views, too. They weren't too busy which is surprising because we loved everything!
Suzanne Kehl
Very disappointing!
The staff had no idea what was going on, after not having something I ordered (muffin) they came out with a different flavour which was not what I ordered and were very vague about everything. Nice views though.
Dara Meybodi
I had the worst experience here. Ordered egg benedicts for breakfast and was shocked once saw my plate. Two eggs on a plain bread with Hollandaise sauce on top and the rest of the plate is empty!!! $20 . Then asked for an extra piece of toast which I never got! Very Rude servants and poor service. Will NEVER go back although I live literally 2 mins away.
NOT recommended at all

Had a fantastic birthday lunch here on Sunday. The team (especially the gorgeous management staff) accommodated everything and they made the afternoon perfect! We had a table of 10 adults (including my 90yr old grandma) and a toddler, and we were able to sit outside where we could enjoy the view, soak up the sun and enjoy each other's company. Food was great, wine was delicious, and the service was perfect. Few of my family members hadn't been there before, and they all said they would be back in a flash! Massive thank you to the team!

Portions were very tiny and service rude . We had a lamb salad at 21$ and it was a really small serve . I had a cauliflower and quinoa salad and it lacked if flavour and had no dressing . We spent $65 but were starving when we left !!I did give feedback on the portion size but the waitress never got back to me . Coffee was average .
I will not go there again .

Went there for a quick breakfast after a morning run. Had a great experience, good service in great location. The new manager, I think his name is John, was awesome. Thanks you

Great location.

Very pretty.

We were there with friends visiting from Ireland (Cork) and Sydney. They loved the location and outlook. We were seated by the windows and had perfect blue sky and sun.

We did the lunch special and would give the food a 3-3.5 out of 5. Good service although our waiter made a few remarks in jest that didn't land well. Wouldn't put me off going back but next time I will let them know if it happens again. You don't need that, especially when showcasing the venue and Victoria to guests.

Of course it's lovely to go for a walk down to the beach, adds to the experience.

Overall, I would have scored less if it wasn't for the location and great weather as that can make a huge difference. If the venue was on Collins St, the score would be more likely a 2-3

I would still take guests there!

Beautiful location and fabulous views if you are lucky enough to get a table on deck. We weren't. Terrible coffee. Terrible service. Waitress and waitresses need training.

A superb location on the waterfront- having had the opportunity to drop by on a warm summer day and a cold windy winter's day, I must say the atmosphere is great regardless of the weather. However, the food is a tad lacklustre. We ordered thai fish cakes today - what arrived had very little semblance to anything thai, in fact it was rather bland and probably better described as a fish pattie! Menu is okay - it's a bit irksome that breakfast is till 12pm only on weekends. Overall, a place that is buoyed by its great location and bustling atmosphere, but by no means a culinary delight.

Such a beautiful location which drew us to this café for a
late brunch on the weekend. We were told at 11.45am that we couldn’t order
breakfast as they had finished and that we had to wait 15mins before we could
order lunch. We ordered some coffee’s in the meantime which took a good 10
minutes to come out.

The food serves were tiny, the Calamari as a Main service
only came with some rocket and the calamari although cooked well was very oily.
The giant mushrooms stuffed were actually smaller mushrooms chopped up into
pieces, not how it was advertised on the menu as a stuffed giant mushroom, I
was still so hungry afterwards, for $16 I would expect more than about a
service of 3 large cup mushrooms.

The service was slow, the waitress never told us of the
specials.

I would not eat here again only pop in for a coffee

Terrible..again. This place is hit and miss. Food is usually ok, but sometimes bad. Prices too high. We come back because of the location and sometimes you get decent staff. Not this morning. Very rude waitress where we have to ask to take our coffee order. We have to help ourselves to menu..this is met with a bit of eye rolling as she prefers to write specials on the chalkboard. The manager here is lovely from previous visits, but some staff are shockingly unaware about customer service. Does a real disservice to the cafe.

I visit the restaurant today and was very disappointed. My friend ordered dips and bread for $14.00. There were 4 very small pieces of bread. The waiter asked if she wanted more and she agreed "Yes, that would be great" on paying for the meal we found the extra bread cost $3.50! What a rip off. The dips and bread actually cost $17.50. Won't be returning.

How can a 20$ fish and chip meal only come with maximum of 15 chips...? Smallest meal I have ever had. Complete waste of money!! Also the waiter decided to serve the older 'richer' man who pushed in infront of us..very rude!

AWESOME!!!. I love this spot, brilliant during summer and I have just discovered the cozi-ness on a cold winter's night. We watched the wild sea whilst having a warming glass of red. The fire place helps too. Great staff, great food.

-----18 Feb, 2015-----

Great GREAT spot! The restaurant was amazing!. As I have visited the cafe many of times, I love the place. I love the vibe, the view, the food and most importantly the Jansz! I ventured upstairs, to the restaurant and enjoyed one of the best meals and experience I have had in a looooong time! ! They really go out of their way to make it special. The manager on duty was gorgeous! The food was so pretty and absolutely delicious, so much detail! You could tell the chef loves what he does. All in all, my friends and I had a brilliant night and can't wait to get back there!!

We headed to the Middle Brighton Baths restaurant for a bite. I was so frekin hungry, I didn’t even take a photo of my food. But I had the Chicken Burger with a Chilli coconut sauce. It was pretty gooood, especially after exercise.
A leisurely lunch by the seaside. Perfect day, delicious food & beautifully presented. Professional and friendly service in modern surrounds.
Dining Nirvana
Overall – Middle Brighton Baths is a middling to average breakfast out. However, because it enjoys a prime location on the beach, they have a captive audience of continual patrons. So, even if the staff can’t keep up with demand, they’re never going to lose out. It does enjoy a fabulous view – so just make sure you eat with your eyes as well – and you should be satisfied.

with a gorgeous view of the water... Banking on the calm scenic view and bright blue skies, and the aid of a glass of Riesling or two, I’m in a slightly more forgiving mood but the food could be better

With the ocean so close, I could’ve gone out, caught our own seafood and cooked it in the same amount of time that it took for them to serve our food. Ridiculous!

The Baths are a place for weddings, dinner with the family or a just coffee when your neck-deep in lycra. The venue is a great place for locals and tourists alike to see Melbourne’s beautiful, however mostly hazy, cityscape. The Baths are split into two with a more fancy restaurant upstairs and a cafe/bar downstairs. The cafe menu is a little simpler and cheaper but aims to please most people with things like a classic bowl of wedges to Spaghetti Marinara.
Eat And Be Merry Crew
As part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, we made a booking for an Express Lunch at The Baths at Middle Brighton. I picked this place because I wanted to head out to a part of town that I normally don't traverse. As an aside, I have many thoughts about the lack of planning and web-savvyness of Melbourne restaurants - especially those restaurants that sign up to the Express Lunch which is primarily promoted via the MFWF website but do not have friggin up-to-date information on their website to provide details on what dishes will be on offer as part of the Express Lunch. I mean, the food is what your business is. You'd figured restaurateurs would have half a brain and ensure that the information on the menu (a) exist on the website and (b) is updated on a regular basis. It's not hard. Hell, it's not like I'm asking you to set up an online booking portal. Anyhoo, on a 35 degree day, we scurried from the cool refuge of our air-con car into The Baths. Inside, all the semi-transp

We had lunch upstairs in the restaurant and it was outstanding. The service was exceptional, and the view is brilliant. We have been here quite a few times over the last few years and the food is constantly excellent.

Cafe & bar great atmosphere. I can't believe I have only tried this place recently after living in the area for sometime! The views are the some of the best in Melbourne. We had lunch yesterday the place was buzzing started to warm up after a awhile and the staff managed the crisis of bottles crashing down behind the bar very professionally and without fuss credit to the floor manager she was brilliant! Our lunch was really nice salmon with salsa, lamb salad with pumpkin couscous and fish and chips needed a bit more salad. The waiting staff were attentive but some lack interpersonal skills just flu causing on clearing tables not the customer.

Middle Brighton Baths RESTAURANT - Hidden Gem!!. I know this page is for the Cafe but there isn't one for the Restaurant so I'm writing here instead!

Had dinner last night in the Restaurant upstairs at the Middle Brighton Baths, wasn't sure what to expect as I had heard many mixed reviews. Walking in the view is absolutely stunning, we were greeted by friendly staff and taken to our table. We were hoping for a window table but the view was still breath taking!

Our waitress came over to us promptly, introduced herself and took our drink order, even helped us choose the bottle of wine (and it was great!). Not long after the drinks arrived our waitress came back and took our food order. The food was beautiful, all classic flavours (pork & apple, scallops & potato) but put together so yum-ily!

The whole evening was a joy (food & service combined) and I will definitely be returning again! So nice to find a Restaurant producing such tasty food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

CHECK IT OUT!!

Fantastic food & service. Was really surprised that this venue had an average urbanspoon rating. The views are truly beautiful & the scallop entree was the best scallops I've ever eaten. Everyone at our table thought their food was amazing & the staff were lovely & friendly! Highly recommend this venue for a great night :D

We are locals and have been coming here irregularly since the place opened. The food was always a little meh but we put up with it because the views over the baths, the bay and the city skyline on a sunny day while enjoying a glass of wine have always made up for the mediocre food offering. But now, OMG, not even the view can redeem the overpriced offering served up on a recent Saturday. We arrived at lunchtime on a hot sunny day rather surprised that there were vacant tables on the deck and inside. Usually on a nice day the place is overflowing. Our alarm bells should have sounded then and there. We ordered two $20 burgers and a $20 veg burger. The burger came on a brioche bun (and right there I was turned off as I loathe this latest food fad of bread = brioche) but that wasn't the worse culinary crime, which was that the patty was a commercially made frozen one out of a packet -- you can tell a proper house made patty, you know you can -- with one lettuce leaf, two slices of tomato several pieces of overly vinegared pickled cucumber and, as a salute to chefness, a chipotle mayonnaise. Now I know American food is all the rage but don't be giving me a glorified MacDonalds and charge me 20 bucks for it. Our friend with the veg burger was expecting, you know, a veggie burger in her brioche bun (bleach, brioche) but was surprised to find the burger MIA. Indeed, she asked the waitress whether the chef had forgotten to put it in. No ma'am, that large fried mushroom cut in half on your bun is the "burger". WHAAAAT? Fool us once shame on you, fool us repeatedly over many years, shame on us. The adage don't eat where there's a view now applies to this place. Go anywhere but here!

The salmon with mango & coriander salsa, OMG! One of the best things I've ever ate. Tasty and light, melts in the mouth, full of flavours! Finished my meal with a smooth and delicious lemon tart with chantilly cream followed by a perfect made espresso martini. All served by polite friendly staff! Beach and sunset. Couldn't ask for more after a long day. I really recommend to come and enjoy the atmosphere and have a lovely dinner!
