I recently had my 21st Birthday in the front room at The Deck Brighton and I was very impressed by the staff and venue. The venue looked amazing and the food tasted great! All of my guests enjoyed the night and complimented the venue, staff and the food. I highly recommend having functions at The Deck! I’m sure I’ll be back
Thanks to everyone who made my night unforgettable (in a good way)!!
We had our daughters 21st in the Aviary Room last Saturday night and were thrilled with how everything went. The food was delicious and the atmosphere in the room was perfect for the occasion. With so many options and flexibility offered, Caitlin made catering to our budget easy and stress free. The venue looked fantastic and Jason and his team were so helpful and attended to any request without hesitation. Thanks for a wonderful night. We will be back and would not hesitate to recommend The Deck to anyone looking for a function venue.
Celebrated our daughters engagement at The Deck last night 12th March 2016. We hired the whole venue. Staff where fantastic, so helpful, friendly and efficient. The staff had great ideas on where to place items for decorations, suggestions for speech time etc. food was terrific. All in all would recommend to anyone having a function.
Had a function last week and the venue was fantastic. The staff couldn't do enough to help and event co-ordination and organisation was professional and seamless. We had so many positive reviews from friends about the food (quality and quantity) and the combination of the back room for dancing and the front room and adjoining deck made for a great summer atmosphere. 5 stars to all the staff and hope you enjoyed the doughnuts!
We just had our surprise wedding at the Deck on Sunday night. Caitlin and her staff were amazing. They went above and beyond before and on the day. Nothing was an issue. The food is to die for. And the place is just gorgeous. Thanks so much The deck
My daughter had her 21st last Saturday night in the Aviary room. Caitlyn was fantastic helping us with the organisation of the party. The room was decorated perfectly for my daughter. The food was amazing and Jason and the bar staff was very friendly and professional. The only negative is they needed one more staff member to help to take pressure off cleaning the glasses as they were so busy serving at the bar. (21st) also I was so grateful as they also help fix the birthday cake as it moved in the box with the traveling to the venue. I loved it I recommend this venue and I'll definitely use it again thank you
The deck is a gorgeous and calm destination on Bay Street Brighton!
Sit down and soak in the vibes in this stunning space accompanied with delicious food and an amazing wine / cocktails! There is something about where the deck is situated which keeps drawing me back!!
I love stopping by on a beautiful sunny day and sipping on a delicious wine!
I’d love to come back and try some of their new breakfast items as they look so delicious!
We came for a weekday lunch and opted for the beef benedict special and fish and chips. The latter came with fresh salad and what I liked about the fish was that there wasn't a thick layer of batter on the outside. The outside was crisp and fish was fresh. Probably the best fish and chips I've had in a while. The beef benefict was alright but I felt the beef could have been more flavoursome. Inside seating is spacious and some outside seating is available. No issues with service, we were greeted on arrival and got service when needed.
We had our daughter’s 1st birthday/Christening at The Deck Brighton, we had nothing to say but praises from the function coordinations Rebecca and Caitlin to the staff on duty that day led by Nat and Hannah. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Food was fantastic! The venue was great. Our guests enjoyed the day and our daughter had a ball! Would definitely recommend to family and friends! Thank you The Deck Brighton!
Attentive staff and very nice Iced Chocolate drinks, great to have on a hot day. The dishes were flavoursome though very large so I’d advise going on a very empty stomach. The sweet potato sides were a standout as well as gorgeously presented hash browns. A standout in the Brighton Cafe scene.
Great place for breakfast and if you have a dog, even better. Very pooch friendly. Food is excellent and the service is on the ball. Pricing is about normal for the area cafe set. Recommend for brunch or breakup.
Really nice atmosphere inside, great service and a diverse brunch menu. Been here a few times to have brunch and liked all the dishes I’ve tried so far
I am giving the Deck a 4 star rating as the product of all of my visits there. My last visit there was not as enjoyable as usual due to a $5 charge for avocado, making my Paleo plate very expensive. I assumed that the avocado would be included as one of my vegetables, which has happened every other time I have ordered it. It was not until we had paid and left did I realise what had happened.
However, the food is always delicious and the service is is just the right amount of relaxed. My boyfriend's favourite dish is the Benedict and mine is the build your own plate. Though the Fritters are delicious too.
Coffee was great and served within 5 minutes of ordering (such a bonus). The Hotcakes were delicious & looked very instagram worthy. Staff were friendly
Great food, great atmosphere and friendly service. I really loved the Budha Bowl 😋 it was also great to see a number of vegetarian options on the menu!
Went for lunch today . Had the beef burger and carbonara, strong latte and lavender grey from tea drop . Love the burger and carbonara, food was delicious . Nice location .lovely front deck dining area .
Great timely service and delicious food at the Deck Brighton! The Aviary room is a beautiful venue with great seating space and eye-catching interior, would recommend for birthday events!
Even though there is a tight cafe competition in Brighton, The Deck clearly is among one of the best. My long black has always been perfect nice and strong accompanying with a delicious muffin. That's a good small breakfast right there. The lovely waitresses are accommodating and friendly with smiles. The inside dining area is cosy and spacious and the level of noise is low. (High ceiling) the outdoor area is even better on sunny days, which I embrace it all the time. All in all, great cafe with great customer service. You will definitely have a good time here. Highly recommended 👍
The Deck Brighton which we decided upon through the entertainment book app as without it we would of driven passed this unassuming little hot spot. All good things to be said as
+ The wait time good
+ Staff were personable and friendly
+ Ingredients were fresh and flavorsome
However the stand out for us was the "make your own" which we thought added a nice touch to the generic smashed avo you so aptly see on today's menus. My Buddha bowl was the right combination fit for a health "nut" - Quinoa, seeds, kale, pomegranate and broccolini garnished with an abundance of fresh mint and poached egg. Instagram worthy to say the least! Mr Go_Go chose to create his own breakfast of grilled chicken, sweet potato mash, greens and the humble smashed avo.
We look forward to our next meal at The Deck Brighton. Do check it out, it's a great spot for all groups and meal times breakfast, lunch or dinner
Coffee here is awesome. And the fire place makes me very happy most Sunday mornings in winter. Sexy polished concrete floor (I'm a concreter) that looks super interesting considering the building used to be a mechanic back in the day from what they told me. Occasionally grab a takeaway bacon and egg wrap which is always tasty. Coffee is way good though, thats definitely the draw card for me. Keep up the good work barista crew.
We had my daughters 13th birthday party at the deck and Jason and his crew made it an absolute success. nothing was too much to ask and the night went smoothly . would definitely recommend this venue and the staff.
I decided to have the ‘Linguine Carbonara – pancetta, parmesan, peas, broccolini, basil ($22.00)’. My dining companion opted for the ‘Beef Burger – mustard pickle, cheese, aioli on a milk bun with fries ($19.00)’.
Best breakfast I've had in a while! Fresh food served lovely presentation and full of flavors! Pity about the sour puss lady at the end with the colourful shoes that seemed upset about being at work.... other than that it was really good!
Great for brunch. Good coffee. Recommend the omelette which changes regularly. Kids love the French toast and breakfast wrap. Service can be patchy.
The crispy chicken burger was very nice, interesting flavours that you wouldn't expect but very nice nonetheless. Atmosphere is great on the deck with sunlight streaming in
Having loved their cafe food during the day, I chose to host my 21st at the Deck. It was a great venue with excellent catering and very nice and helpful staff. Everything was perfect! Big thanks to Caitlin and the bar staff! We will be back many times in the future.
The Deck in Brighton is a spacious eatery with seating both inside and out. The menu options are limited but you always have the option of creating your own breakfast of lunch with a bunch of Protein and Vegetable options. Good for those after a paleo style meal. Pleasant, but a bit bitter. Needed some sugar. 5/10
Went along on a nice walk, staff very accommodating with pram and upset baby...food was quite tasty (burger had a nice flavour) as well. Will return for sure on account of how nice the staff were. Great work!
If you're looking for a place for a function then do not look any further! The deck Brighton was just amazing! First of all the staff, absolutely fantastic, Jason was great and ran the night perfectly! Secondly, the venue is amazing not too big or small, the ambience and decor really set the mood! And last but not least, the food; the finger food platters were great, the amount of food was generous also. We had Pulled Pork Sliders, Bruschetta, arancini, haloumi fritters, honey soy chicken and the meatballs! All of them were great and met with many compliments through the night! So all in all an amazing place to have a function!
And on top of that we even had a complimentary brekky; and the eggs Benedict were extremely different but amazing taste!
Love this place can't wait to have my next function here in March
Whats great about this place is you can pick your protein and Veg and have a really healthy meal.If you are following a Paleo lifestyle you will love it here. Really nice fresh fruit juices also. We like going here. It does not have a lot of soul with the interior but food is good. We usually get good service also. We recomend and come here often.
Overall a good experience. The food was tasty and reasonably priced, and good range too. They have a whole separate paleo menu in addition to the normal menu. Service varied from efficient but not overly friendly to a young guy who was really chatty and friendly. Reasonable range of beers, and my partner found the wine list pretty good. Noticed they also have quite a large function area out the back.
Where do I begin? I had been told about this place numerous times about it being good, but usually places never live up to the hype, well this one certainly did! Was greeted straight away, got to sit next to the fire place on this cold Melbourne day! Sat down and ordered the detox juice and flu fighter juice ! Was delicious and then the food came out and certainly wasn't what I expected it was a lot better ! The portions were generous, the lamb was lovely, well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and the veggies were amazing ! Was part of the paleo menu! I chose the pumpkin broccolini asparagus and Dutch carrots, you can choose 4 veggies out of about 12 options and a meat out of 4 or 5! $24 couldn't believe it ! For the size and taste ! Wow will definitely be going back, and even just sitting and seeing others served makes me excited to go back and try everything else on the menu
I'm going to summarise 2 visits to the deck in this review. The first time I was there with my husband and we ordered the eggs Benedict and the chicken sliders. Although the Benedict was pretty good, the sliders were highly disappointing. The pulled chicken was very dry and quite challenging to eat. I won't be ordering that again!
The second visit was with my sister in law, when we were just looking for a space where we could chat over a few drinks. The deck was perfect for this and the service was impeccable. The highlight however was the cheese platter we ordered. Firstly it was so pretty we didn't want to even eat it. Secondly, the bread that was served with it was too heavy. The staff were amazing when we asked for some crackers instead. They said they didn't normally serve the platter with crackers but provided us with a small box of plain crackers free of charge. And thirdly, we were told by staff that they did not expect the platter to be so small and so significantly reduced the price for us. Couldn't be happier. As you can tell from the picture we were very impressed with the platter, it's new price and the service we received.
Loved our food and experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had coffees, the Deck wrap & an omelette special. Food was timely and tasty. Highly recommend the wrap! Great coffee. Overall fantastic brunch.
Had our engagement at The Deck. Front function room and front deck area. Staff were lovely. Place looked amazing. Food was great. Definitely recommend your next function there :)
Sunday brunch with friend
Arriving at about 12nn, not very packed, but some tables were reserved.
-Environment : Spacious indoor seating area with cool aircon is such a big plus to this restaurant.
- Food :
1. Full deck
Portobello mushroom, spinach with grilled tomatoes, harsh brown, sausages, and poached eggs on turkish toast. Another version of tradition English breakfast. (I skipped the bacon in the dish)
2. Bread free brekkie burger with extra side of feta cheese
Eggs as the burger, which is something creative ! The spinach is quite fresh, but the feta cheese was a bit chewy in texture.
Drinks:
Detox - Freshly pressed juice. With carrot, beetroot, ginger, and something else. No sugar added. But it's sweet enough surprisingly! Like the juice a lot.
The restaurant was getting more packed later on. So it's better to go early for brunch instead of lunch;)
Had a delicious brunch on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning sitting out on the front deck. The food was amazing. I had a delicious avacodo smash on sourdough bread topped with fetta cheese. My partner had a lovely large bowl of fresh fruit. Presentation was most impressive, particularly the fruit salad, adorned with little flowers. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely will visit there again.
Dare Gallery Christmas Party: Wonderful venue, great space and perfect atmosphere. Food was delicious and decent servings. Staff were helpful and very friendly. We'll be back! Thank you to the Team at The Deck Brighton.
This place is very similar to The Palate in Prahran. Any chance they're affiliated? I had the DIY paleo brunch. Lots of choices for mix and match.
I had my 21st birthday at the Deck in September.
The venue was beautiful and I got lots of compliments from my guests about how nice it was. We booked the front bar but there is also a second function room called the Aviary which is also gorgeous. The venue provide candles and flowers on the tables for events free of charge and can also create a balloon ceiling for a price pretty similar to anything local party shops.
Caitlin was the event manager, and she made the whole process so easy and pleasant. We simply gave her numbers, picked the food and drinks we wanted and she took care of the rest!
We used the canapé menu that’s available for functions and it was delicious! Special mention to the pulled pork sliders which were so amazing that I had many people come up to me after and tell me how much they enjoyed them. The canapé menu is huge and varied with many gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian options so it was really easy to cater for different dietary requirements.
The staff on the night were amazing. They had the audio system completely set up for us, and when my music player didn’t work, the manager lent her iPhone until we could get a music player that worked!
The whole party, from planning to execution was so simple and stress free thanks to the team at the Deck. Would highly recommend this venue for people looking to have parties or functions!
Very Impressed. Went to The Deck in Brighton for brekkie this morning. The 4 of us loved loved loved the food!!!! The coffee went down so nicely we ordered more!!! The staff were hard working and very helpful!!!! We actually expected the bill to be more as there was so much food. Sunday brekkie is our treat to us so we will be changing from going to our usual place to going to The Deck each Sunday.
Best big breakfast! And it's actually big. The service is also pretty good and I like the warm cosy atmosphere. A bit pricey but that's to be expected in Brighton
Friendly service, great health options, reasonably priced, but not very quick for meals. Visited for brunch/lunch on a weekday, which wasn't very busy. Took a surprisingly long time to get hot drinks & then meals. Wait staff were attentive and it wasn't long enough to get cranky! Ordered great tasting smoothie bowl - appealing presentation.
Fantastic!. Me and my wife came last sunday for a lunch with a few friends of ours. we were welcomed by a young lady who was not only very friendly but also helpful in every way. after a few (very good!) coffees we had a mezze platter to share with the four of us. delicious lamb and chicken with perfectly cooked saganaki cheese and some bread. my wife and I had both a salmon fillet with sweet potato and asparagus. our friends both chose the ceasar salad with chicken. both very nice meals. all together a very pleasant sunday and we will be back!
Good atmosphere tasty food.
Lovely place for breakfast or brunch and I love that each table has a vase of fresh flowers. The big breakfast is way too big. Definitely a meal for 2 people
Had the wagyu burger for lunch, absolutely delish! Service was great too. Definitely coming back!
Elegance on a plate. Was treated to a culinary adventure at the deck Brighton. The staff were warm and personable , attentive yet not overbearing. The general feel of the deck is fresh and welcoming.
The menu is well rounded and offers several alternatives to satisfy. The pork was cooked to perfection, and the deconstructed lemon tart, a pallete pleasing light finisher. Overall a pleasant experience, my partner and I were impressed on all fronts , credit to all involved , looking forward to our next adventure .
Beautiful breakfast this morning at The Deck !!! Have been here a few times now, and the food and service is always impeccably slick. Easily the best coffee in Brighton. Keep up the great work guys.
Perfect from start to finish. We had a family birthday brunch at The Deck on Sunday morning sitting out on the deck. Organised via Lana (Function Manager). Lana was my first point of contact with The Deck..nothing was too much trouble. She responded to all messages in less than 24 hours. Exactly what you want when you are having a function..no stress. We had the whole outside reserved for 30 of us..a mixture of young children and adults. The space was beautifully decorated. The food was delicious, generous serves and top quality. The hardest thing is choosing what to have so many choices. Everybody ordered something different with things on the side, the staff didn't get flustered even with little kids and the food came out in a timely manner. Nothing was too much trouble. We were offered drinks (great coffee) on arrival which also came out in a timely manner and were continually offered more drinks throughout the course of our brunch. The staff were warm, friendly and polite. Do yourself a favour book a function or have a meal at The Deck you won't regret it.
Hidden bayside gem.. We had our staff function on Friday evening at the Deck. Prior to and during making a booking with Lana at JBS hospitality, nothing was ever too much. She was helpful and knowledgable on every aspect of planning our event plus she responded to all emails within 24 hours. After the event, staff reported back to me on the quality of the food, attentiveness of staff, generous size of serves, presentation of the room and the fact we had our own area to be as loud as we want! Highly recommend visiting the deck bar for your functions, or any other venues of JBS hospitality. A pleasure to work with.
Festivus - a gem. Ambience and View fantastic
Good selection of food and fairly priced (avoid the juices as $7.50 a little bit rich for me! )
Nice coffee and great breakfast
Friendly staff
I love It. Went to the deck the other day for a breakfast with a few of my friends. I had delicious Atlantic Eggs. perfectly poached served on tasty turkish toast served with delicious holandaise. Food was very good, service was friendly and the coffee was perfect. Best way to start your day!
Good food and friendly staff! Try the deck wrap, tasty breakfast that can kill even the hardest hangover. Perfect location aswell for a terrific function
Amazing!. The coffee is amazing, the breakfast menu is incredible and the staff are friendly and efficient.
The Deck Brighton is a great place to start your day!
Just sat under a pretty cactus garden on a sunny deck with friends and enjoyed a delish smashed avo breakfast, served by friendly staff. I love they have all day breakfast cause it means not having to rush on a Sunday. Great coffee, good company and the warm atmosphere that is created with families having their children playing and the pet friendly deck is the perfect relaxing way to end the week. Thank you to all the staff I will definitely be back!
New renos. Love the lay out if this place and the menu is quite large so there is something for everyone to choose from..even the pickiest eaters! Service was a bit slow and some didn't really seem to know what they were doing but the food speaks for itself.

Something for Everyone. I was very impressed with the recently renovated restaurant "The Deck" on my recent visit to Bay st in Brighton. I found the menu to be extensive and was very happy to see that an all day breakfast was on offer during the week. Myself and my friend selected the paleo breakfast where you could select from a paleo menu to create your own meal including either 1 meat and 4 vegetables or 5 vegetables. I thoroughly enjoyed my poached eggs, cabbage salad, cauliflower rice, grilled tomatoes and avo. The service was prompt and attentive and the atmosphere was good. I will be returning to try some of the lovely salads I saw on the menu.
I loved the 'old' deck and I really love the 'new' deck! Excellent service, delicious food and great coffee. Staff are super and its a kid friendly place. Well done!
Great Paleo. Wow - what yum food and reasonably priced. Not trying to rip people off by adding Paleo to the name of the mean. Great flavours, well presented, good service and an excellent vibe.
The non-Paleo menu looks very tasty too!!!!
Lovely decor, good variety in the menu. We went to the Deck because we heard they offered a Paleo menu, which they did. I had a paleo brekkie of avo, asparagus, tomato, chicken breast & cauliflower rice, which was delish and a very good size meal for the price (approx $20, same as you would pay for any other big breakfast really). I did miss a bit of a sauce or dressing of some kind as overall the meal felt a bit dry. Partner went the non-paleo option & had the eggs benedict, his poached eggs were cooked just right so he was happy. All in all a nice place, no complaints about the service or the wait, our food took about 20mins which is average.
Great refurb and menu. Food is delicious. Barista still needs a bit of training. Open fire creates warmth and atmosphere. Service great except when you have finished getting someone's attention for the bill is impossible.
Great food and atmosphere staff are very friendly, overall enjoyable experience will definitely be coming back
