Review Ta Wee Wan Thai Restaurant - Brighton

A quality Thai restaurant in local East Brighton. They definitely have the full range of Thai food options, offering excellent presentation. They offer both dining in at the restaurant and takeaway/home delivery such that you can enjoy their yummy food in the safety of your home.

I travel to Thailand 4 times per year and understand that Thai food supplied in Australia can be less spicy etc but I ordered Tomyum chicken tonight and it consisted of liquid a few pieces of chicken and 2 slices of mushroom. No lemongrass or galangal chalots. Chilies Etc to be found. Just Tom yum paste and water. Very 😒 lame attempt.

Good food (I had the massaman and the springrolls), not "amazing" but DEFINITELY one of the better Thai restaurants around! Was delivered (uber eats) quickly and everything was still hot! If I was going to picky I would say the size is a little small (comparatively speaking) for the price, but it's by no means unreasonably priced. Would recommend for tasty, local Thai!

Amazing Thai food with even better customer service! Been going to this restaurant for years and they remember my order (haha because I always order the same thing) but nonetheless the food is affordable and cooked with love. I highly recommend the pad Thai!

Had a really bad experience tonight. Ordered a Thai feast at just over $70. Three mains, two different rice, and two appetisers. The spring rolls were about the only yummy thing, the dumplings were raw and a disappointing health hazard, the beef curry was a bowl of gravy with a few strips of beef, the two vege dishes ordered were supposed to be different but both turned into being carrot strips with next to no green and horribly cooked tofu in place of crispy tofu. So so horrible, it got thrown out. Can I rate less than one star?

Delicious! I went with my family for birthday dinner. The food was quick and yummy. Tom yum soup was so tasty and beef salad was really nice. This is a hidden gem in the area. Recommended.

For Melbourne standards, this is some of the most authentic Thai food you can get. My only issue is that they don't make it spicy enough as they cater more to the Australian palette.

Nice quiet atmosphere, comfortable, good food, reasonable prices, wonderful service. Only criticism is that I'd prefer if the water for the table was in the fridge for a day first so it would be cold and without chlorine smell.

Good food and decent servings.

Excellent duck curry, massaman lamb and satay chicken. The attention was also really good, quick and friendly. I am definitely coming back.

Very average, bland food DEFINITELY OVERPRICED. The place is cold and unappealing. I will not go back. If you want real Thai fear, book at Sumalee and you will certainly be happy.

Wasn’t very impressed with their vegetarian pad Thai. It lacked the authentic Thai flavours usually found in pad Thai, however contained a good amount of vegetables and tofu. Overall, was average and probably would try one containing meat or seafood next time.
Good Food Good Mood
I was interested in trying a new Thai place but it hindsight this was not really worth the 30 minute trek. Really was just a local sort of place. For mains we had the pad Thai and a green curry both had traditional flavours and the curry itself was quite aromatic but there was nothing particularly memorable about either of them. Price wise it was pretty reasonable (certainly for Brighton anyway) but I wasn't too impressed. Might've been a different story if it was my nearby takeaway spot

Really enjoyed the food here, staff are lovely, service was quick and the food was really tasty. My only complaint was that the satay beef was overcrowded with undercooked carrot, other than that delish. The hubby had a green curry and raved about. We will return.

We had the mixed entre and received two spring rolls, curry puffs, money bags and prawn that were all deep fried and I have had better frozen products (I'm sure they were frozen). The rest of the menu was just as boring so we ordered the special of lamb shanks with massaman curry. The shanks were cooked OK but they were not cooked in the curry; it was clearly just poured over the boiled shanks. The waitress informed us this was a meal for two at $25 and the plate arrived with four pieces on it. However, there was absolutely no meat on one of the pieces. When we complained the waitress asked what could she do and then offered to get another one. She then returned and informed us they had run out and the manager was out doing a delivery so she couldn't do anything else for us. We waited for the manager who instead of apologising he defended the serving. He then said 'what can I do for you'. We couldn't believe he didn't offer a solution and he was rude and defensive. To add to this the restaurant was cold and we had to ask for the heater to be turned on which the waitress seemed put out to do. We will definitely not go back.

Sorry but for the price this place is mediocre. Came here for dinner for four on a Tuesday night and it was $89. We had a curry, a starter (which was more like woolies or coles from foods but deep fried), pad Thai and a soup (this was the only thing that I felt was at least worth the money). Needless to say it was an extremely disappointing experience and I would not go back.

Favorite thai place in Brighton. Menu is reasonably priced and home delivery is free over $20. The phad king is particularly good. You even get satay sauce with the prawn crackers!

...comparing how one is better or worse is like getting to the pointy end of an eye test, you find it hard to really differentiate. Ta Wee Wan Thai in Hawthorn road does have some things going for it, the interior is less cliched than a lot of Thai restaurants around town. No pink neon lights here and it is also free from a daft name like "Thai me up" or "Kun Thai". L: Golden Bags R: Chicken Satay Food wise it also has a few things going for it. Entrees were all good, the curry puffs in particular were nice and crispy with a great filling, not what I consider a traditional Thai dish, but good nonetheless. L: Pad Thai R: Spicy Lamb This also continued in to the mains, while the Pad Thai noodles were a bit light on for meat, the spicy lamb stir fry and the Thai green curry were very good. Overall dishes were spot on, vegetables were firm but not

"Give it a go". Lovely authentic Thai flavours. My husband and I both ordered the Pad Ga Pow, chicken & Beef and both were very nice. Chicken fried rice also very good. Lastly my son ordered the Pad see ewe with seafood and also very nice. Small servings

Great Food- will be going back again.. Dined here with a friend a week or so ago, and liked the food and service. We ordered entrees- satay chicken and fish cakes- both were well prepared and tasty. I had the seafood in red curry which was exteremly morish and went well with the rice and roti bread. Can't recall what my friend had- something in massamun curry lol Anyway, service was good and the food tasty and well presented.

Takeaways. Absolutely irreproachable service. We've ordered takeaway four times from them in the last few months and it's the only place around Bentleigh that delivers quality, hot food, extremely fast.

Nice food. Good food, but dont go expecting atmosphere. This is a cheap eat on the road to the CBD, dont expect anything more. That said, the Chicken with Oyster Sauce is amazing!!

Very average for the price tag. Both chicken dishes watery and chicken was very dry. Rice was the kind you would find at a Westfield take-away warmer. The large take away price advertised a free entree but this wasnt provided because we asked for it too late (whaaat?). Not worth the money.

Great food!. Ordered take away - Great food, reasonable price. Would come back!

Little gem. Second visit and certainly measured up to the first. A range of specials of the day (mostly seafood based) tempted us away from the menu again. Small tucked away restaurant, pleasant decor and attentive staff. BYO and in the Entertainment Book.

Sensational. We've been this place for a couple times and the food was fabulous!!! We had a mixed entree which's a mix of every things. Try the lamb dish , was so yummy. It become one of our dine in list.. Will be back.

Highly Recommended. Fabulous Thai place for dinner. Food was beautiful, the staffs were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the banquet. It was a great choice, tasty and fresh. Satay dishes are superb!! Will definitely go back.

Solid local Thai. Good option for a cheap and cheerful local Thai dinner. Entree of Spring Rolls (vege, O.K.), and the Satay Chicken which was delicious. The standard mains we ordered; Green Chicken Curry, and Prawn Pad Thai were both great. Pretty cold in the restaurant, not the fastest service (but still fine), but it did get noisy once it filled up. Overall - bout a 7.5 I reckon, we'd go back for sure.

Ta Wee Wan - What a Winner!. Super friendly and attentive staff without being over bearing and fresh, quality ingredients cooked to perfection make this little gem a big winner.

Great food, great portion sizes, great service and great prices ... what more could you want!?

Please give them a go!

Very Nice Thai dinner. I went to try this restaurant last week, and was very enjoyed the meal. Food was so tasty and good portion size. It's worth for the money. This place has its style and clean. Food has been served quickly, well present with plenty of meat and vegetable. Fantastic!

Food is very tasty and you actually get a good amount of chicken in your green curry! Pad thai also very nice. Take away is slightly cheaper and v good value for portion size.
