We went there for a birthday and the staff went out of their way to make the experience just fantastic! I don't remember having customer service like this in a long, long time.
Oh, and the paella and caipirinha were out of this world! Highly recommend you try these when you go!
Good food and good atmosphere...can't go wrong with the Latin experience.Def recommend breakfast lunch or diner
What a wonderful experience all around - very good vibe, great food, excellent service and the best entertainment (Sunday evenings gypsy jazz - manouche)
I really like the crisp coconut prawns and calamari with a especial caipirinha made from that place, just wonderful....
Came here for New Years Eve for dinner and drinks. My husband and I had a share plate which was amazing and great value! The cocktails are so fresh and delicious! Highly recommend!
Fogata ... what a great addition to James Street. It has a diverse and interesting menu, well prepared and presented food, lovely indoor/outdoor ambiance, and friendly and attentive staff. It's not often that you walk away from a restaurant planning your next visit and what to order.
If you have been to south America and want to relive the fab food taste this is the place to go!!!!Excellent.
Friendly staff and great food. Banquet is a fun option for a group to try different types of food and share the experience.
The service was great and there was enough choice for gluten free tasty options! Loved the skewers and paella!
Excellent food and staff!!! Would certainly recommend for a date night or a few drinks with your friends!
Great place beautiful food great service wonderful atmosphere

The waiter suggested some delicious menu items to try. We weren't disappointed . The food, location and service was great!
Incredible Latin fusion restaurant in a quieter part of Fortitude Valley. I particularly liked the calamari, which I would give a 5/5, and the pavé cake which was deliciously moreish and lighter than I expected. The confit duck tacos were a tad dry and needed more sauce but otherwise good flavour and a generous serve of duck.

Rating Fogata again because the food is always amazing!
5/5.
My wife and I went here on a quiet Tuesday night for date night. Good service, ambiance and food. The pulled pork empanada, pork cutlets, sweet potato chips and the white wine Sangria were amazing. Good size servings with reasonable prices. Good night out.
Fogata Latin Fushion is our family’s favourite Latin food in Brisbane.
There are so many options to choose from, a lot of traditional dishes that use ingredients rarely found in Australia and there is definitely something for everyone!
My favourite item is definitely the Maduro - a roasted plantain filled with sweet Bocadillo & hot melted cheese!
My partners favourite was the Feijoada - a Brazilian style hearty stew that definitely serves more than 2.
Service is always really friendly here and staff are so knowledgeable about the menu and origins of where each item came from.
Drinks menu is extensive as well and dessert is delicious. (Not pictured and not on the menu all the time, we’ve also tried a chocolate cake that was to die for.)
5/5 would recommend ☺️
What an exciting menu! I thoroughly enjoyed my tapas time here. The maduro was amazing ans the sangria was mixed perfectly. It is a little pricey but the service, food and atmosphere are worth it.
I went for date night with Nanxi cause we were bored and had nothing else going on. We got a Dimmi deal for 50% which was great cause this place is a bit exxy. Parking is awful cause it's along James Street, pray for a side street park and leg it!It's one of those share plate places so we got a few small and large plates between us.
One of the first dishes we got to share was the pao de queijo, a Brazilian tapioca flour cheese bread. One of my favourite Brazilian dishes because I absolutely love cheese and I love this gooey, chewy, stretchy texture of the bread. I got 4/7 of the balls pictured, Nanxi doesn't like cheese!
On the other hand, she loves corn so we got the corn elote, chargrilled half corn corbs with lime, jalapeno butter, queso and paprika. Brace life has left me unable to physically get close enough to the cob to bite it effectively, so I had to use my knife to cut off the kernels which really destroys my enjoyment of corn. These were good, they had a great smokey char, were super juicy and sweet kernels and the mix of salty queso, mildly spicy paprika and tangy lime were a killer hit. She got two cobs and the good ones at that, the two bottom ones not the pointy one in exchange for me eating all the cheese bread.
This next one was a bit of a weird one, char grilled squid with squid ink meringue, chipotle sauce and biquinho chillies, those bright red little tear drop looking things. Lots of flavours going on but I did however like the softiness of that beautifully charred, pineapple cut squid! The chillis weren't hot, they had a fruity sweetness and quite mild heat which made them dangerously edible. The meringue was a sweet meringue, I don't know what the go with that was.
We got the sizzling plate of churrasco which I thought came with more than just meat. It did not, not even a sauce to cut through the meatiness. The picanha was okay, its a rump beef cap that wasn't cooked enough that the fat could render, the chicken thigh was a touch dry, I couldn't bite through the chicken heart from braces but Nanxi enjoyed them and lastly the chorizo was the best bit outta this plate.
We got the churros to share between us which was good because we could've easily had a plate each. It came with ice cream but I asked for it on the side due to lactose intolerance life. The churros pictured were actually quite long about a good 20cm, quite thin with a perfect golden brown CRUNCH, they were only lightly dusted with cinnamon sugar which is nice because I hate it when I order cinnamon sugar and get churros in my order. The dulche de leche was lickable off the plate, Nanxi scolded me when I suggested we try so we just kept trying to scrape it off the plate.
All in all, the entrees were excellent, the main of the churrasco was disappointing but the churros sealed the deal for excellence. We got some drinks too but they weren't anything too memorable. I would definitely try this place for half price night, the atmosphere isn't bad either with a nice dark room and good music playing.
Took a trip to James St and decided to try Fogata due to the great reviews on Trip Adviser. I was really looking forward to some tasty South American food.
In general the service was great, staff were very helpful and service was quick. Food portions were quite small for the price and not as tasty as I imagined.
The Mohito was lovely and all food and drink were presented perfectly.
Lovely place with a fantastic atmosphere. The cocktails were great and the staff were excellent at helping choose from the dinner menu. The small South American band really added to the atmosphere without being too overwhelming. We really enjoyed the food and will definitely be back.
Try the tapas a lovely selection BUT the seafood paella is really something. We teamed it with an Argentinian White which opened beautifully!! A great combination. Finished with the churros - exquisite. The live music made it!
Really a 4. 5. Vibrant happy waitresses who love their work
It was such a lovely dining experience . Foods were great . Pull pork was so tasty and tender . It was like melting in your mouth . Great atmosphere too . Would def recommend this place !
Decided to try out this resto cos wanted to try Peruvian cuisine. We took banquet option with 8 different dishes and added seafood paela as well. The banquet was on special 50% off from Dimmi, so it was worth. The slice beef was soft and tasty. Black bean soup with chorizo also nice. Their corn is pricey and not so tasty. Seafood paela and cheviche were good. It's a lot of food and we ended up so full.
Extremely friendly staff, real laid back atmosphere and the food were exceptional too (empanadas, paella and the chili brownie) definitely recommended
Service from friendly staff, the atmosphere and location on james street is great and the drinks and food were on point with flavor and presentation 👌
Great food. Great staff. Great service. Had stuffed capsicum and the seafood platter thing. Delicious. Had a few cocktails which were amazing. Very authentic and lovely staff.
The staff here were absolutely amazing. So attentive and made my 10yo feel as included and important as the adults. The food was very tasty but the cut of steak that was supposed to be amazing was a bit gristly and chewy so my wife didn't end up finishing it. My son and I had the share platter and were really happy with it. My son even ate the chicken skewers and loved them, even after I told him what they were lol. I LOVED that they made any cocktail on the menu non alcoholic as we're not really drinkers but it was so nice to have non alcoholic options other than soft drink, and they were delicious! The desserts were also amazing! Sitting outside under the heater was also nice and the music was at a comfortable level making the atmosphere really great. We had such a nice time and my son wants to go back for his birthday!
Came here for dinner mid-week. Ambience was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They were all South American and knew everything about the food. The entrees were lovely. I had the whole fish of the day which was a little dry, but nicely spiced. Nice flavours, though quite expensive. The pudding is lovely for desert.
Excellent all round service. Went there for a group celebration of 10 people and the atmosphere was great. The staff were lovely, the food was amazing and everyone had an amazing time. Getting a discount on the food made this such great value for the quality of the night. Definitely would go back there for another celebration.
Definitely mixed feelings about this one - not so much that it's not traditional South American food because they have fusion in their name - and fusion is what you get, sometimes it worked (the kingfish, black bean salad for example) and sometimes it didn't (the pork belly was dry and lacking real flavor). The service did make up for it, friendly and efficient and I will be back for the breakfast menu
Beautiful food. The stuffed capsicum was amazing and everything on the plate complimented each other. The jalapeño butter covered corn was the best thing I have ever tasted. Everyone agreed.
Great staff, nice venue - lots of greenery and a wonderful menu and feed.
We enjoyed the banquet and everything was amazing - including the chicken hearts! I really enjoyed the black bean stew and the steak. Felt like the ceviche and porkbelly were not quite 100% - but still bloody amazing.
Great food, great drinks and great service. The waiter was excellent in helping us to make choices. Very happy we happened upon Fogata whilst wandering along James St.
Came here on a Sunday night and it was relatively quiet. However proceeded to receive attentive service all night.
Ordered the tip of the rump cap with sweet potato fries and mixed leaf salad. Unfortunately the steak was over cooked (asked for rare and received medium) but luckily it was extremely tasty still. Sides were delicious too, fresh and zingy salad and crunchy fries.
A real shame the night ended on a very average chocolate and caramel cake type dessert. Quite sweet with a stale cake filling. No dessert menu? What's up with that??
Luckily service was good as it has potential. Hopefully they read these reviews and iron out the wrinkles. If so, worth a visit!
We had a great dinner here last night. My husband and I shared the churrasco meal which we really enjoyed, chicken hearts and all. We had the Pave for dessert which was definitely a hit and finished off with a perfect Brazilian coffee. Service was spot on, and everyone was friendly and had a smile. We will be coming back for more.
Awesome place to dine if you're a notorious meat eater. Excellent food and staff. The waiters are great at topping up your drinks! Would highly recommend this beautiful Latin American restaurant!
- Amazing atmosphere, especially at night.
- Perfect service, you can tell they genuinely care.
- THE FOOD TASTES JUST AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS! (which isn't as common as it should be these days)
You have to try the Calamar, Mushroom Empanadas, and the Alma Mora red wine!
Lovely place, great service, no words for the food and such a great time with friends having lunch on Sunday.
Would recommend and will come back next time. 😉
Went to this place with my boyfriend and another couple. We are all Brazilians and we were looking to have some latin food.
The food was delicious, couldn't be better.
The service was really good too.
I'm definitely coming back and recommending people to come as well!
Thank you for all the fogata team!
