Great French food well done by a master. Character filled popular and bustling. A variety of choice with French classics and Australian based variants. Eg Murray cod, Fremantle octopus etc
A nice bistro feel and a little subterranean. Interesting wine and cheese. A colleague dined there five times in 7 days and had not run out of menu options.
Bon choix de vin. Parler français.
We visit for a family dinner on Friday night. We walk through a fully booked restaurant as we are shown to our table. Sparkling Water is complimentary and we order our Cocktails as we peruse the Menus. Our refreshments, a Negroni, Margarita, Russian Spring Punch and a bottle of Chablis Grand Cru “Les Preuses” are well received. Cheers to the Bartender!
Our Entrees are served within 25 minutes.
* Soufflè with Confit Onion
* Escargot with Chicken Mousseline
* Scallops grilled with Spinach and Crab Meat (2 serves)
* Veal Kidneys with roasted Lardons & Champignons
The Entrees were beautifully presented. My Soufflé was fantastic, the large Harvey Bay Scallops were so fresh and the Veal Kidneys were delicious in the Red Wine sauce. The Snails, however, were disappointingly dry and tasteless.
Our Mains arrive soon after we finish the Entrees.
* Coral Trout grilled served with caramelised Fennel
* Veal Loin seared served with baked Apple
* Eye Fillet grilled served with a Cognac Cream sauce
* Cassoulet Toulouse is a White Bean Casserole with Confit Duck Leg, Toulouse Sausage and Smoked Pork Belly (2 serves)
The Mains were good not great. The stand-out dish was the Cassoulet Toulouse, a hearty and meaty Winter meal. While my Grilled Coral Trout was good the fish fillet was not super fresh as I would have expected. We enjoyed our night out and wait staff should be commended for the exceptional service. Thank you La Cache!
Great atmosphere. Delicious food. Attentive staff. Overall wonderful dining experience. Thank you for a lovely night and with the help on selecting the right Pinot and table !!
The food was very tasty, the onion soufflé was delicious and the beef cheek and duck confit were both great. Decor is an underground stone cellar which provides pretty cool ambiance. Service was good. Its on the expensive side but the food was very good.
Was excited to see the new ventures of Montrachet founder, Thierry Galichet. We made a reservation via a phone call, of which the restaurant called back closer to the date to confirm. The restaurant was still bustling when we arrived for our late dinner.
We ordered the 'roquefort brulee' to start, which came out with complimentary baguette slices. The brulee was just as advertised - lovely smooth roquefort and a crisp caramelised top.
For entrees, we chose the 'patagonian delice' - perfectly cooked white fish, which went well with the candied ginger, tomato and beurre blanc; and the 'millefeuilles aux escargots' - plump and soft snails and spinach delicately balanced between two crispy sheets of golden pastry.
For mains, we ordered the 'poisson paul bocuse' - a deliciously homely seafood dish wrapped in puff pastry with a flavourful bisque; and the 'duo de canard' - perfectly cooked confit duck and smoked duck breast, the latter of which had a speck-like flavour.
For dessert, we shared the 'pear flan' - which had to be one of the best-made flans we have tried, with generous flavours of pear, which complimented the smooth honey sorbet.
The menus were a little different to the one currently on Zomato. Specials of the day included an entree-sized seafood pasta dish with freshly shaved black truffle (currently in season), as well as bouillabaisse.
Service was very friendly and effcient. Smart ambience - I enjoyed the sophisticated yet cosy feel of the revamped cellar/basement. Prices on the higher end, reminiscent of fine dining.
Overall, a lovely new French establishment to the Brisbane area. The restaurant also has a boutique wine store next door, however it did not appear to be open yet.
We tried the tasting menu at the first visit and the experience was great. It took us about 3 hours to go through the courses and the wait staffs were really helpful throughout the time we were there. My personal favourite was the duck breast, it was just so much layers of flavour!
Hidden gem tucked away in the city. What a find!
Amazing ambience with professional and friendly services. You can tell people there are proud to be there and it comes through to the dishes.
This place is much larger than I thought. The private function room looks super cool too.
Will come back for more French!
We had a lovely dinner here. The food was very delicious, especially the sauces. The fish dishes in particular were cooked perfectly. Service was friendly and quick. Very enjoyable night.
Went with my partner and decided to try the set menu. It was one of the best restaurant experiences we had in Australia so far. The place itself is very special being underground giving you the feel of an old wine cellar. The service was great, very knowledgeable wait stuff. The pate and the scallops were out of this world, we highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back to try other items in the menu that looked very tempting.
Incredible experience.
I was sceptical about booking into this restaurant because I had seen some very intense and opinionated reviews. My curiosity was piqued and I had to find out for myself.
Headed here on a whim for lunch and was wowed at every turn. Great service, great ambiance and incredible offerings. Seamless experience.
Opted for the pre set menu aka degustation. Paired with complimentary wines.
Satisfying dish are after satisfying dish; absolute satisfaction.
Adding this gem to the list of regular haunts.
I love the restaurant as it felt like a real fortress, big stone walls and impressive wine cellar. We had a private dinning room which felt very special and cosy. The food was divine and superb service. I will definitely come back.
Great French restaurant in Spring Hill!
Firstly the staff here are excellent, very warm and welcoming and quick with advice in relation to the menu.
Secondly the wine list is extraordinarily good! The list of burgandy wines goes for pages. Luckily the sommelier was excellent and pointed us towards an very good wine after discussing our taste preferences.
Finally the food is really good here. Highlights of the evening were the Roquefort brulee and the cheese souffle. This restaurant comes recommended.
Old world charm. Decent hearty food delivered brilliantly, exceptional service and magnificent beverage list. The perfect spot for a long lunch.
