From the warm greeting at the door to the final farewell, the experience here exceeded expectations! With all the ambience of a suburban French restaurant, this little gem serves up wonderfully hospitable service, superb cuisine & wine to die for. (The Montrachet chardonnay is on the must-have list.)
Thank you for a most memorable evening.
I now understand the hype! Probably the best food we've had in Brisbane. Very affordable, quality, French wine by the glass and down to earth service. You won't find much better in Brissie.
Loved this place under the original owner & was pleasantly surprised that it was just as good now that he’s moved on. Definitely recommend for a special night out.
We hadn't been back to Montrachet since it changed hands. Why did we leave it so long?! We had the most perfect meal - the best spanner crab spaghetti ever; both main courses were utterly delicious (steak frites and roast duck); yummy, light dessert; and lovely quality French wines. Shannon and Clare were delightful, too - ready to chat and tell us a bit of background information and history...And all the staff were, as always, ultra-professional. All up, a perfect evening at one of Brisbane's very best. Already planning our return!
Stepping inside the doors of Montrachet, began the most complete and incredible luncheon experienced.
The friendly and prompt service, the magnificent decor, the delectable menu choices, and the most sumptuous food and wine I have ever experienced any place.
Highly recommend a visit to enjoy their most delicious French cuisine and friendliness ... thankyou
Quite possibly Brisbane's best restaurant... true class, great service, authentic food, foie gras est a mourir pour... amazing !
I was pleasantly surprised and excited to venture to Montrachet's new home in Bowen Hills for a birthday celebration dinner.
Having dined at the Old Paddington restaurant on numerous occasions I was looking forward to visiting the new restaurant.
I was not disappointed. Shannon and his lovely wife have done an amazing job. A lot of energy and thought has gone into the new home for Brisbane's best french restaurant.
We had and amazing dinner and the sommelier walked us through France to finally rest our evenings delights being complimented by a gorgeous red. Shannon came and sat with us for a chat that went way beyond the time he would have spare being the restaurant was at full capacity.
Beautiful food. Great service. The classic touch. And an amazing dining experience. Exactly what one would expect from one of Australia's most coveted chefs.
Simply a six (6) star experience.
Supper Club on Saturday night here I come.
Food was scrumptious. Host Claire was the perfect mix of friendliness and professionalism. I have rarely seen such happy kitchen staff. Chef Shannon was the master of both his culinary skills and friendly chit chat.. All in all amazing experience..
Enjoyed the 7 course degustation . Pate was sensational and a great lead in. Only disappointment was the unavailability of duck breast. Chicken was a bland replacement . Ready supply of fresh baguette and butter was appreciated. Attentive staff a real plus. For some, the totally French wine list might be a negative.
Thoroughly enjoyed our 7 course dégustation course meal this evening. A table of 10 was easily attended to by the lovely Tanya and the team and the food was incredible.
Thankyou Montrachet for a wonderful evening with such incredible service and truly delicious food.
A beautiful restaurant with amazing food, wine and service!
Our waiter was both efficient & entertaining!
A great choice for a special occasion.
My go-to place for special occasions. Beautiful food, service and atmosphere. So sad to see Montrachet leaving Paddington, but certain we'll be making the 'trek' to Bowen Hills for our french fix!
Au revoir, and all the very best, Chef Shannon Kellam!
Amazing food. Awesome service. Would highly recommend for a special occasion. Or if you just feel like oysters and champagne
Step out from Brisbane and into Paris. Why did we wait between our 2nd and 12th anniversaries to visit Montrachet? A delight to the palette at every course.
Went here for a birthday dinner and was thoroughly impressed by the quality and creativity of fine food on display. Service was excellent, our waiter was very genuine and attentive (but not overly), providing us with knowledgeable descriptions of the food and even the recipe for some components on request. We both had the tasting menu, and the restaurant was able to cater towards my girlfriend for her pescatarian needs. The dishes that came out were all of excellent quality, of note the smoked milk pasta, the very interesting take on raclette, and the scallops.
What a wonderful night! Beautiful food, amazing service and great atmosphere. We ordered bouillabaisse, steak, beans and Paris mash. We finished the night with the most divine desserts! We will definitely be back
Noticed one of my friends who posted her recent dining experience for birthday celebration at this renowned restaurant. It reminds me my recent experience here in Valentine day last month. Honestly, it was the first time that I had dinner at this venue after it relocated from the last one in Paddington.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly wait-staff and led us to our table. Ambience is grand and lay out of tables was much spacious than before but can be better.
The hospitality was so good that we enjoyed the banquet very much. We could not pick up any fault but unforgettable experience. Love the fresh and high quality scallops with spot in preparation. Hero should be the steak, which was done perfectly in pink. Carefully rest with dashed of rock salt on top. Chef’s culinary skill deserves thumb-up👍👍👍
*no previous rating record due to my previous reviews have been unreasonably erased*
Came here for an anniversary. The setting is perfect for a date. To be clear though, this is the quintessential fancy French restaurant with high prices, big plates and small portions ~ just something to be aware of.
My partner ordered and went for a range of seafood dishes. All exceptional. For mains we ordered lamb and beef, both nice but have had better for less elsewhere.
Great service as expected in a restaurant of this type. Even left a tip!
Wished the tables were just a little further apart. Was busy on a week night, so obviously has a good reputation.
A nice night out, but not kind on the wallet. Strangely this restaurant was not open on the weekends, so keep that in mind if you are planning a special occasion.
Dishes were excellent but a little bit too greasy. The seats are too close to each other. On the whole, it's a really nice French restaurant.
I had their degustation menu, the foods were well cooked and perfectly presented.
Service was spot on.
Overall it was an excellent dining experience.
Highly recommended.
I honestly don’t know why it took me THIS long to visit Montrachet. Every dish that came out (including the bread and butter) was absolutely amazing. We came in a group of 4 and ordered shared entrees and our own desserts and mains and it ended up being roughly $150 with drinks. The stand out for me was definitely the crab soufflé - to die for! Service - top notch! Can’t wait to come back!
If you ask locals in any city for a list of their top restaurants, a few common names will usually crop up. For Brisbane, Montrachet seemed to be one such place, the sort of restaurant that was always mentioned whenever you asked someone where would they recommend and always spoken about with fondness by those who had been there.
I went to the old Montrachet back in the late 2000s and was keen to try the new revamped restaurant. The decor was great, not a huge restaurant but not too noisy. Service was very friendly. Food was amazing, loved the scallops and onion soup. Mains of lamb and duck were both cooked perfectly with delicious accompaniments. Dessert of peach melba and opera cake was a lovely way to finish the night. Cocktails were also very good! Would recommend this for a special night out.
Excellent service, very professional and accommodating. We had a Saturday evening booking, so had to do the 5 course degustation. All of the courses were delicious, cooked very well and had great flavours. I do wish there was something a little more adventurous in the set menu though.
We went here for a business lunch and the waiter picked our wines - perfectly. The location is good, nothing special, but good - while it is a lovely open space that is new, it is a let down by what is a dated fitout and I really don’t get uncomfortable bench seats in a fine dining restaurant. The food was to me very good, but just not rich enough to meet what I always love about French food - maybe it is just me. The duck I had was crispy, but over cooked and lacked flavour. The sheeps brains as entree were good, but once again, the sauce was missing something. The service was friendly, well informed and quick - but the little things let it down - ask me please to take my coat rather than leaving it crumpled on the bench seat (I do hate these bench seats). The toilets being outside and open to the public is a real let down for this location. Scrapes in a 4 thanks to the wine choice.
And AGAIN Tuesday night - perfection ; that Crab souflee would be my last meal on earth. Service SO professional and friendly, even Shannon stopped by to say Thank You for coming.

Re; below, been a couple of times to the Bowen Hills location, it remains the best French in town. TREAT YOURSELF and go ....
****
Have yet to go to Bowen Hills (couldn't get a table!), but our dinner in Paddo was perfection. OMG, really generous serves of high quality food, and excellent service. I still dream of the goats cheese soufflé in bisque. I'm fussy about bouillabaisse and theirs was amazing; tasty, fresh, all the different components perfectly cooked. Can't wait to go back ...
If this place was half the price it would be a 5, but I can't say it's an amazing experience for its price. Sure the $70 bottle of wine was great and the food was good, but I've had similar experiences for half the price. The only real quality difference here I found compared to less expensive places was that montrachet gave more thought to varying textures in most of their dishes. I'd go back if someone else paid.
Long before I had ever started food blogging, I had already been acutely aware of the foodie scene and had made a bucket list of dream places I really wanted to go to, but had to save for a special occasion. Top of my list was none other than Montrachet, the french restaurant which has newly been relocated to the hot foodie hub, King Street in Bowen Hills. With my annual birthday celebrations on foot, two very dear friends offered to let me choose the place to have dinner, and I finally couldn't resist the temptation, and so Queen V made the booking.
Loved everything about this place, its new , its well designed , elegant, beautiful. The service was amazing from as soon as you walk in the door all the way till you leave. The Foood!! Amazing!!! The duck leg, tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. My favourite, the rack of lamb, cooked to perfection👌. The souffle is must for an entree. Really imoressed with the whole experience and look forward to trying out there degustation menu.
Was excited to book a table for two at this celebrated establishment to celebrate my partner's birthday.
We were promptly seated and brought out menus. After ordering drinks of white wine (highly recommend the 'sancerre'), we got to the meals:
For entrees, we ordered the Cervelles D'agneau Panees- beautifully crispy crumbed lambs brains and quite a hearty starter, and the Coquilles Saint Jacques- perfectly cooked scallops with enticing accompaniments.
For mains, we had the Seafood Bouillabaisse- a delicious seafood broth with depths of flavour, accompanied by decadent garlic butter and crispy croutons, and the Lamb Cutlets - perfectly cooked and juicy.
Finally for desserts, we ordered the Apricot Souffle- impressively light and moist Souffle with delicate flavours of apricot, and the Chocolat de Passion- can see why it is award-winning; beautiful layers of flavours and textures.
Our dishes came out all promptly, apart from desserts however the restaurant was full and bustling at this point in time, and we were happily sipping on calvados.
Our waiter was marvellously passionate and happily enjoyed chatting in French with my partner.
Ambience was fitting for a classy French restaurant.
Would highly recommend for date nights or special occasions. We would love to come back to try their degustation menu as well.
A dear old friend and I dined at Montrachet for a Thursday lunch, and it was divine, as has always been my experience here.
We started with an Aperol Spritz and bread with Truffle honey butter. The parfait came with orange brioche and was an elegant mix of flavours.
I had a simple brown onion soup with delicious gruyere toast, while my friend had the crab soufflé.
We both chose the larger eye fillet steak which made me feel bourgeois, but why when it is this good?
And then we shared a Creme brûlée which was incredible from sugar crack to scrape of plate.
I'm already planning a return trip even though my dining budget is limited...Worth every cent.
Absolutely amazing supper club degustation at Montrachet on a Friday night. Each course was perfectly complemented by a selection of wine. I usually find French cuisine to be heavy and very creamy, but each dish at Montrachet was light, fresh and delicious. The service was impeccable. Thanks Shannon and Clare for a wonderful evening.
It was spectacular! The truffle butter was aromatic and creamy to begin with. The crab soufflé was light, flavourful.. it is also not too cheesy. My duck was cooked perfectly. So tender and juicy. The skin was not as crispy as I'd prefer but totally can overlook that. Bouillabaisse was jam packed with flavour and fresh seafood. Ended the night with their award winning dessert - Chocolat de Passion. Amazing! It was not too sour or sweet. The balance was on point.
Atmosphere wise, think Moulin Rouge. Red leather sofa, classy and fancy looking. It was cosy and comfortable. Lighting was dimmed but by too much. You can read the menu easily still. As much as it is fine dining, you don't feel like you're wound up. The place does a great job at making people feel at ease.
Service was exceptional. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Attentive at all time. Have to say it's better than many other fine dining restaurants I have been to.
Would definitely recommend it to people and will go back.
Came here with a group of friends for a degustation dinner and all I can say is 'wow'. It was small and cosy. The food was amazing, one course after another. I love the crab soufflé and the scallops with truffle. It was also my first time tasting the foie gras and blue cheese and I have to say, it was pretty good. I would definitely come back, hopefully soon!
My impressions were that this place is loved by its regulars die to their exceptional customer service. They truly go above and beyond to make sure that patrons are happy and they seemed very flexible. I had the degustation menu. I honestly wasn't blown away like I had hoped to be. Simpler flavors would have been better. I must say though that the creme brûlée was Devine. The lamb rack was also pretty fantastic but not big enough of a portion.
Came here for my birthday dinner. I had been hearing for years that this of all places was the place to go for an amazing steak and fries. My husband and I both ordered the steak. They came out cooked as we had asked and with a mountain of fries and a salad. It was definitely tasty and definitely filling. My only issue was the price tag. I don't mind paying for quality, however I felt a little ripped off when I've had equally good steaks at other restaurants that didn't cost $48.50 each. Would I go back? Sure but only to give other French dishes a go - not for the steak.
Meatballs And Beef Cheeks
+4
I used to go to Montrachet quite regularly for work as it was a favorite for one particular client. The French culinary technique is without parallel in Brisbane, but the tables are jammed together so tightly that I have witnessed patrons knocking things off other tables on several occasions as they try to navigate between tables. The simplicity of their Beef Carpaccio is delightful and very tasty. The tartar, on the other hand was not to my liking. Most people rave about the Souffle au Crabe au Gruyere, and even though I don't love crab, I was impressed with the dish. The eye fillet is my go-to meal. Can be a bit pricey, but that really depends on how many courses you eat and how much alcohol you drink.
Amazing food and dining experience. Food was perfect and staff very friendly and knowledgable. Nothing to complain about, exactly what I expected from this restaurant. Best French restaurant in Brisbane I have visited.
Went here for my birthday dinner and the food was out of this world. Felt like I was in Paris being served delicious authentic French food! The service was amazing too and they have a superb wine list! Can't fault them!
this is the most exceptional place. I could not wait for the next bite of each meal, it is the meal I never wanted to end. ;). It is a great place to go for a special night and it has all the great French classics which are cooked to perfection. Thanks Clare and Shannon for an amazing night xox
A celebratory dinner was in order for the other travel bunnie’s recent career achievement (I’m screaming from the top of my lungs with excitement here, someone please hashtag OMG) and both of us thought of Montrachet. For all the food lovers in Brisbane, albeit a foreign word, Montrachet can’t be any closer to our hearts as for years, this establishment served hearty, buttery, French deliciousness that few of us could resist. I mean, how many restaurants out there that you are aware of would dare to close their doors on weekends? As cliché as it may sound, Montrachet is, without a doubt, our favourite French restaurant in town. When I found out that after eleven years at the helm, Montrachet proprietor Thierry Galichet was letting go of the reigns, my heart sank. I messaged the other travel bunnie and expressed my great concern and advised that we were to have a nice, long meal there as soon as possible before Thierry left the establishment. Easter was long gone and we still hadn’t dined there as we were busy with this and that… extremely sad. I know.
Food was absolutely lovely! We had degustation menu to try out. But I don't understand why the ice cream is basil flavor. A bit weird
Absolutely loved the Friday night degustation menu. My partner has been wanting to go to Montrachet for months but I have been putting it off as I generally do not like French good. I enjoyed every course and tried things that I wouldn't usually try. The matching wines well complimented the food and the wait staff were very knowledgeable. It's a must do!
The best french restaurant I have been to in Brisbane! For a small establishment who doesn't even open on the weekends, the dedication of the whole team is exemplary! We opted for the 7 course degustation and even though it is expensive, it was definitely worth it! All the dishes are rich in flavour yet delicate to the palate, making the taste buds dance as you take every bite. Will definitely be back!

The red chairs are ready, the silverware sparkling and the kitchen raring to roll out a new modern French gastronomy menu at one of Brisbane's favourite restaurants, Montrachet in Paddington. With more than 80 awards and medals, Montrachet's new owner Shannon Kellam is odds on Australia's most awarded chef. Established by Thierry Gallichet in 2004, this is a restaurant with a pedigree and the unusual distinction of being the city's only suburban restaurant closed on weekends.

Have visited here for dinner twice - way overdue for another.
Best French restaurant outside of Sydney and Melbourne. As always is the case for french, food quantity is small, but rich, flavours are divine. Service is excellent. Wine selection is extensive. Pricing is very high.
We went on the 2nd April and loved it as much always
Nothing pretentious here, just confident certainty of being in good hands
The food is outstanding, the service is excellent & we always enjoy chatting to the other patrons
Please never change
Great atmosphere.
The entrees have a lot more finesse and flavour, so i generally stick with them.
Scallops and the Toothfish are must-trys.
For something rich try the Crab and Gruyere Souffle.
Don't bother with dessert, they aren't that great.
Also the mains are disappointing.
**I haven't been since Thierry left and Shannon took over, so might be giving dessert another try.
Lovely evening. Entree: snail entree was understated and really hit the mark. A crisp, light pastry top covering garlic butter soaked snail meat. Delicious when soaked up by bread. Generous serving yet light . 9.5/10
Main: Filet de boeuf (medium) main with bearnaise was rich. Beautifully crisp pomme de frites and side salad. Eye fillet itself was cooked well but nothing revolutionary. Rich sauce was nice and creamy, ask for bread to soak up the excess. 7.5/10
Dessert: chocolate truffle with creme anglais. Decadence with character. Initially the rich dark chocolate was overpowering but it was cut well with the infusion of cognac.Creme anglais was nice and light, necessary to take the edge off the strong chocolate. Unfortunately I couldn't finish, purely due to being full. 8.5/10
Overall: Food - 8.5/10
Service - 10/10
Value - 7/10
Returned customer. Husband and I came here for lunch and absolutely enjoyed every aspects of this dining experience.
In my top three favourite restaurants. Never had a bad experience. AmaZing wait staff, food and beautiful atmosphere.
The dishes in the degustation menu complemented each other perfectly. Delicate dishes with beautiful flavours and impeccable presentation. The friendly waiter made for an even more memorable experience.
Old school French executed perfectly. Hate the table seating arrangements inside (too close to your neighbours and hard to get out) but best creme brûlée in Brisbane makes up for it.
You gotta have the snails. I love this place. I've never come here without ordering the snails baked in garlic sauce.
Exceptional, Crab Souffle is heavenly!. The Crab Souffle is to die for! My favourite dish of all time. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. They run two evening dining services usually one at 6pm and another at 8pm. Waiters are fantastic and even on my second visit months later the waiter recalled which wine I ordered! Would eat their 5 nights a week if I could afford to!
Can't wait to visit them again!. We tried their Degustation Menu and it was mouth watering and delicious to say the least.
The highlight for me was the Patagonian Delice. A Glacier 51 toothfish served with candied ginger beurre blanc and tomato relish. The fish was cooked to perfection with a melt in the mouth texture, the beurre blance and the tomato relish complements the fish very well.
The only dish that I didn't like was the Amuse Bouche. (The not so fancy way of describing it, is a savoury blue cheese brulee. Yup, what you are thinking is right, a savoury creamy blue cheese custard like bottom with a sugar crystal on top. It was a small portion but after the 3rd spoonful, I just swallow and not taste. ) Sorry Chef, it's purely a personal taste, I am sure there is nothing wrong with the dish but I am just not too keen on it.
The double baked soufflé with crab meat and gruyère cheese finished with a light cream bisque was one of my favorite dish. It's the second time that I had this dish and all I can say was it's exactly the same as the first time I try. Consistency is gold in hospitality, what more can I say.
The service was excellent. I never have to ask for anything. They fill up your drinks before you ask, they clean up your table promptly when you finish. They are busy but never look stress. Even in a 85% - 90% full lunch service, the place is buzzing but you can still feel well attended to.
Montrachet is definitely one restaurant that I will visit and re-visit in the years to come.
P.s I've asked the waiter for a non-alcohol drinks menu. Silly me. With such a massive bar on display, what was I thinking asking them for a virgin drink!! I will never do that at Montrachet ever again. :)
Food was outstanding. Best creme brûlée and bouillabaisse I've had. Service was a bit hit and miss. Towards the end of the meal the waiter asked me "do you take photos of everything you eat?". Umm completely unnecessary and YES I do, I was there to write a review on the restaurant. How do you say idiot in French?
Fabulous French!. We dined at Montrachet on Valentines Day & were blown away. The service was warm & friendly, without a hint of the snootiness so prevalent in French restaurants. As for the food...Amazing! The crab soufflé & beef fillet were wonderful, the dessert of chocolate ganache was to die for! The only low note was my partners' escargot entrée; the snails were bland & rubbery. The rest of the meal was so delicious though, we forgive you Montrachet ;-) The wine, recommended by our lovely waitress, complemented the meal wonderfully. A lovely night of great food & I can't wait to go back for more!
One of Brisbane's best.. I can't tell you how many times I have been to Montrachet. Too many to count that is for sure. I have been following Terry around since he had a restaurant at Wilston called Medium Rare. At Montrachet though he has found his home and I love visiting.
Decor is very authentic and I love the feel of the place.
Food is French with occasional hints of Italian and the menu changes about 3 - 4 times a year. The duck is always good as are the snails. Fish is also always good. Steak and frites, whilst not my cup of tea, is probably the most popular dish he does. If you go in winter and the cassulet is on the menu do not hesitate. It's a hearty affair so maybe skip the entre. It is one of the best dishes I have ever had. And the Creme Brule? SHUT UP!
Very good wine list and unless you are a control freak or very picky let the staff pick one for you. A great way to explore French wine. The wine is reasonably priced as well which makes a nice change from some of the outrageous mark ups we are seeing at some of Brisbane's other top restaurants.
The staff here are great. They always remember me and always make me feel welcome. I find it interesting that after several years Terry has managed to hang on to the same staff and I know he doesn't tollerate fools so something is going right to hang on to staff in such a transient industry.
It pays to book. Single diners can often grab a seat at the bar without a booking. It's a great way to meet new people and swap notes on the food. Parking can be a drag particularly at lunch.
One of Brisbanes best resaurants. Fellow Francophiles will love it.
J'adore. Best French fodder in Brisbane. Nuff said.
Soufflé was amazing!. Atmosphere was nice, wine was lovely, soufflé was to die for! I would go back just for that!
My wife and I came here for our three year anniversary on a whim. It was Melbourne Cup night, and this may have contributed to the fact that we were able to book a table for two at eight by phone, an hour prior to our arrival. I have always been sceptical about this place. Usually we would go for a little more avant garde - Ortiga or Melbourne. Please understand we are not loaded, but treat ourselves to a dinner out a couple of times a year and it has to be fancy. This one was courtesy of Fleetwood Mac cancelling. My birthday present became this night out. Melbourne cup night meant we could dress up which was nice. Please dress up. We arrived early and were sat at the bar while our table was prepared. One can eat at the bar and I would advise this if on a date, for sure. Nice and intimate and amongst the action, and alcohol. We would have stayed at the bar (no probs expressed by staff) but the table was a goodie. We had the degustation menu $95 each which I think is reasonable. Here it is-
Service: top notch. Dealt with two or three staff in our transition from bar to table to dinner to exit and all were obviously experienced. And subtle. I had to take a work call outside and the waiter came over and chatted to my wife until I came back so she didn't sit on her own in the middle of the restaurant. He also noted her not drinking and upon realising she was pregnant made sure that medium rare was ok for the lamb dish. This is impressive. Did not feel rushed at any time. Really impressed by staff, and this is important for us.
Atmosphere: I would take my parents here to impress them. Intimate. The clock works.
Food: this place has grounded me. Yes modern takes/avante garde have been my thing but this is simple food done very very well. My friends won't think I'm cool any more and I care not. The best fish dish I have EVER had in my life. I'm forty. Great degustation menu, perfectly sated at the end. And the wine list is great.
We will return, thank you.
Wonderful Night!. My friend and I has a wonderful dinner here the other night! The food was simple but amazingly executed. The salmon entree and duck main were delicious. Service was fantastic. I can't wait to bring my folks here in December when they come to visit over the holidays :)
These guys mean business. Been here a couple of times. Both times food was designed, prepared, made and presented like an art form of excellence. This place takes food very seriously and it shows in their faultless service and food on the plate. But you do pay a price for it. Its a treat to dine here.
You broke my GF. I hate this place. You broke my girlfriend. I took her here for lunch on a Tuesday. She is now spoilt and demands nothing less than perfection a la Montrachet for each dining experience that we have.
She had the foie gras quail which was amazing. I had the venison - brilliant.
A wonderfully authentic French experience which is going to cost me dearly for the REST. OF. MY. LIFE! Thanks...
Lovely atmosphere, traditional food. Montrachet has a lovely french inspired atmosphere. I almost felt like I was sitting in a Parisian bistrot/ bar. The food was comforting and tasty, however very traditional. Sometimes I judge a restaurant by their ability to be innovative and impress - the food I could cook at home, so for me Montrachet is not my favourite french restaurant.
What fantastic food, friendly & warm hospitality. Had entree of snails in garlic butter and spinach with exquisite light pastry top. Very nice. The other entree was the prawn ravioli - 3 generous serves with very fresh light pasta and a love tomato & cognac sauce. Mains were the bouillabaisse and the lamb loin, both really well cooked with incredible flavours. Finished up with the deco strutted crocque en bouche - light and fluffy pastry & cream filling. A truly satisfying meal.
Bloody good every time. Always a fantastic dining experience. Great service, fantastic wine list and exceptional food. Highly recommended.
Consistently outstanding. We like to eat here every couple of months. The sand crab soufle is consistently wonderful as is my other favourite the steak frit. Service is friendly and attentive... consistently outstanding!
We went last night for my birthday. Was surprisingly busy for a Monday but I guess that's what happens when no one else is open,
First time I've tried snails (yum!), the rabbit was to die for, perfectly cooked and the creme brûlée was a dream.
Desserts were only $9! What other fancy restaurant can you go to that have desserts that cheap?
I'm in love with Montrachet
Outstanding. Our favourite Brisbane restaurant hands down.
Exceptional service, amazing food - just a wonderful experience.
Do it but be organised, you will need to book well in advance.
Food was outstanding and restaurant had a great atmosphere. Great vibe for a Monday night in Brisbane. Delicious. I'll definitely be back
Yums. We went to dine at Montrachet about a week ago. Made a reservation at 7:30pm as they're fully booked for the time before that. We arrived early hoping we can get a table. We couldn't. Their restaurant is fully packed. So we sort of wandering around on the street because there's no place to sit there to wait. It is our fault to show up early. But our usual dinner time is at 7pm, so by the time we got our table, we're really starving. We ordered the degustation menu. They come up pretty quick. There's only one word to describe the food "YUM!" They're perfect in everything. Taste. Portion. Presentation. By the time we got our dessert, we're perfectly full without feeling "ugh!!" We will come back someday, and make sure to book a few week ahead to get the time that we want. Yep, they're pricey. But, when you get that sort of quality. What is price anyway?
I adore this restaraunt. Food is always fantastic and I love the way Thierry the owner and head chef comes out to talk to his guests. It's obvious he really likes it.
This one's a gem. If there's one thing you can gauge from the fact that this place doesn't need to be open weekends, it's that it does very very well during the week. I can only attribute this to the quaint atmosphere, the high quality and traditional french meals, and the highly accommodating staff (tended to my every weird and wonderful food intolerance - altered each menu item to my tastes and needs). Met the chef and owner - lovely genuine man who is passionate about his business. Yeah it's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Will be at the top of my list for any special occasion.
Since moving to Brisbane from Melbourne good food had been few and far between and there has not been anything exceptional whatsoever. That was until I came across Montrachet. We managed to get a booking with only a few hours notice which I was very pleased by. Upon arriving there was a very small wait while they got out table ready which was no problem at all, as they say good things come to those who wait. After 5 minute we were seated and had some aperitifs to start with and our lovely waiter told us the specials and gave us time to perused the menu. I was amazed at their rather extensive cellar for quite a small establishment. I had the soup du jour for entree which was a beautifully done French onion soup with homemade gruyere crouton and my partner order the escargot. Both were heavenly!! Nothing needed to be added to the soup whatsoever and the escargot with spinach, tomato and puff pastry was gorgeous. Just beatific honest food that spoke for itself. I chose a lovely bottle of 2001 Bordeaux which considering its vintage and maker I felt was reasonably priced especially when you take into consideration the proper cellaring for the wine, stemware and the fact that all night the staff were extremely attentive in making sure my glass was topped up. For main I had the Filet de Boeuf and my partner had the poisson du jour. My steak was exceptional and the homemade béarnaise sauce was sublime! My partner said his fish was beautifully done. We then had dessert which was a crepes suzette and a creme brûlée both were sublime. There was a beautiful tartness to the crepes and the vanilla bean ice cream was lovely my only complaint if you could call it that was I would have liked to see more vanilla seeds in the ice cream. Like I said hardly a complaint. The cream brûlée was stunning, a wonderfully done burnt sugar crust with a delicious custard that had none of that exceptionally eggy flavour that too many custards consist of these days. I capped the night off with a cognac for their rather good selection and an great espresso which is hard to find in QLD. Over all it was a great night with exceptional food and exceptional service. I will be back within the month. The only suggestion I would make is with all small or popular establishments like this you always take the late seating so you are not pressed for time when the next seating arrives. After 14 years in the hospitality industry myself I cannot fault this establishment. Plus the owner comes out from the kitchen where he is also a chef and happily converses with the patrons. For those saying its not authentic French bistro food I challenge that especially when the owner/chef is from Lyon! One of the best QLD has to offer. My hat is off to you!
Don't tell anyone. Fair dinkum don't tell anyone about this place. The only problem I have with Montrachet is the cost and the limited days it is open. Hopefully if they get really quite all we can hope for , is that they reassess their prices.
It is a statement in itself that Montrachet is not open open the traditional nights that you would expect a suburban restaurant t to be open. All of the food here is terrific and the service is pretty hot as well.
Tips: If you wish to impress a great client or the love of your life, this is a great place to consider (although no view, or options for a nice walk after dinner, like South Bank offers). Good wine selection, and it is nice to try something French and different, but you have to weigh that against not really making an informed decision (excluding staff suggestions). Plan ahead and skip lunch so you can enjoy all that they offer (wicked I know), if it is a special night, and check your available credit limit prior to leaving home.
Heavenly Food. I have eaten at Montrachet on a number of occasions and am impressed and gastronomically satisfied each time. I highly recommend the Gravlax de Saumon as well as the perfectly cooked (rare) Filet de Boeuf with frites and salad - the béarnaise sauce was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is one of my favourite places to eat at in Brisbane and I highly recommend it for a memorable weekday lunch or dinner.
Food: 9/ 10
Service: 8 / 10
Ambience: 8/ 10
Excellent !!!. I have been waiting to come to this place for a long time after hearing so much about it. It certainly lived up to the hype as we loved the food and service after having lunch here. I had the Sea Scallops as a starter and the Eye Filet for mains which was cooked to perfection with an awesome sauce. My partner was not disappointed either and she had the Gnocchi for starter and rack of lamb for main. It was a little on the expensive side but this is to be expected for the quality and service. This place is exceptional and I really recommend it, especially for special occasions. Overall, outstanding value and dining experience. We will definitely come back again. :)
A wonderful long lunch. My boyfriend and I came here for our 6 year anniversary for lunch one day and opted for the degustation. It was 7 courses for $95 which I feel is a little expensive compared to the other degustation menus around Brisbane.
Fortunately, the food was great as was the service. A short succinct description was offered with our food which was much appreciated.
Lunch ended up going for around 2 hours which was great as I love long lunches. Get the scallops, and the quail.
Fabulous French.. This is the real deal! Excellent french bistro food. Closest thing in Queensland to France. Brilliant...
Was worth the price tag. Enjoyed the food, fast service an ambience. Thanks for a great anniversary dinner Montrachet.
Finally went to Montrachet for the first time. I booked this table about 2 months ago. They didn’t disappoint me at all.
Food is amazing. Service is impeccable. Very impressive wine list. We ordered entree and main each and 3 desserts to share between 6 of us. We were all stuffed walking out the restaurant. Good portion and reasonable price.

We had a lovely evening at Montrachet. The food was delicious and well presented, the wine recommendation was perfect and the service was friendly, efficient, and well paced. The scene stealer for us though, was the absolutely wonderful bread! It came with homemade butter and was delightful.
Exquisite dining experience! Impeccable service from start to finish, lovely, intimate dining atmosphere and great food. Really wanted to try the duck but sadly they ran out - oh well, another time! Will definitely be back.
My husband and I had the most beautiful lunch here - it's been on our list a long time and did not disappoint. The interior is lovely, great recommendations for champagne and wine, and we absolutely loved the tasting menu. The waiters were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional - a step above many places we have been to. Would highly recommend for a special occasion, or just to treat yourself. We will be back!
Amazing degustation experience. We went on a Saturday night and took part in the 6 course feast. Perfectly balanced and delicious at every turn out taste buds were tantalised at ever turn. The decor was superb and loved siting at the bar, especially with the fab wine and spirit selection. The staff rounded out the awesome experience! Couldn't have been happier. Thanks for an amazing evening team.
Do yourselves a favour and book a table!!! The food is impeccable, delicately presented and tastes sensational! My partner is a coeliac and we were pleasantly surprised when we were informed that they had many gluten free items, which is always a nice surprise. The service is on point, it's no wonder they are recipients of many awards! Go team!
Bon Appétit: Overall, my experienced was excellent, food was deliciously made, the wine pairing was perfect, and the service was outstanding, also the staff were not intruding (perfect balance of distance & attention), while making sure you been looked after. I think Montrachet restaurant is underrated by the Australian Good Food Guide which has a rating of 13, Montrachet is better than to some higher rating restaurant that i been to.
We had dinner here last year. Good food and exceptional service. Would recommend for a special occasion!
