Review Blackbird Bar And Grill - Brisbane

Rich A
We really enjoyed the wagyu and hanger steaks. The wagyu was especially flavoursome and tender. The view overlooking the bridge is pretty special at night and service here is always attentive. Highly recommend the baked Dutch Cream potatoes, as a side. Runner beans, also. The fries are pretty good but not as memorable.

Beautiful restaurant with an amazing view! Great service and very good food and wine. Perfect spot for date night.
Jasen Hicks (Jasen's Customs)
Very nice restaurant with great views. Service was just the right balance of hands off and visiting to ensure you are good to go. The steak was cooked excellent and required zero sauce to ensure it was a 5 stars meal.

Amazing steak! Compliments to the steak chef! Cooked perfectly. Sides plenty to share. Dutch potatoes are a must. They are pre wrapped in food clay to produce perfect consistency and flavour. Running beans with feta and truffle topping just Compliments the dish. Dessert was the pavlova which was perfectly presented and a tart rhubarb sorbet within to finish off a luscious meal. Well worth the money, certainly get what you pay for. All set within a beautiful setting and a lovely view of Story Bridge. Highly recommend dining here. 5 stars from me.

Had wonderful service here celebrating my birthday. Allergies were easily accommodated. There’s also a bar to enjoy before or after.

Steak “1000” GUINEAS AUSTRALIAN SHORTHORN was beautifully cooked, really enjoyed it. I wanted to say it's so far the best I have ever had. Well done chef! GRILLED BARRAMUNDI, my husband and I didn't like it. BUTTERMILK FRIED QUAIL was nice, my 18 month daughter liked it, so did we. Fries was way too salty. I wonder if they have accidentally turned over the salt-cellar.

The blackbird was an exceptional establishment, the lady staff member we had tending to our table was an absolute gem she had all our needs taken care of, just so thoughtful and had lovely suggestions for sauces and entrees, the food was next level above and beyond so we're the drinks they were just made right, all in all an excellent venue with a very very nice view at night of the story Bridge. We gave our server a $100 tip for the excellent service she had provided throughout the night, and had a few more beverages on the outdoor deck after dinner, superb.

I couldn't recommend Blackbird highly enough!! Sensational view, fabulous furnishings, great atmosphere, friendly staff. To top all that off, the food was delicious! Loved every moment

My mum and I enjoy our Easter Sunday lunch at the Blackbird restaurant. I did not make a reservation as I was not sure our arrival time. We arrived half hour before opening time and waited patiently for the restaurant to open. The hostess was very friendly and courteous. She gave us the good news that we would be able to dine in at 12 noon and led us to a table with great panoramic view of the river and Story Bridge. A lovely staff took our orders for drinks, starters and main menu. I could not believe when I sampled one of the starters, WA Kingfish carpaccio w toasted Macadamia, toasts herbs + desert lime. The fish was so thin and tender, it melted in my mouth. The sauce blended well with the dish. I had a heaven on earth experience. We enjoyed our very juicy and tender steak with creamy mushroom sauce as well as chips and salads. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. We love the delicious food, the great services and awesome atmosphere. I would like to come back again in the future and would highly recommend the Blackbird restaurant to everyone who enjoys a fine dining experience.

Booked a table for my partner and I for his birthday and we had a magnificent time. The staff were very professional and accommodating from the time we walked in from outside, being shown to our table, the wait staff at the table and by all the staff as we were leaving. The food was brilliant - by far the best wagyu I have ever had. We both had sides, mains and martinis and bill was just shy of $140.00 - brilliantly priced with food to die for. The atmosphere was great, the decor was even better and the staff were the best. Tables were cleared quickly and drinks were topped up just about after every sip. Absolutely loved it and will most definitely be back.

NYE - The food and drinks were amazing, most of the staff were helpful and friendly. The limited amount of tables or even chairs was very hard and uncomfortable, to eat food we had to stand up and one of us would hold the plate so the other person could cut there food up And eat. Plus waiting over 30 minutes for drinks was ridiculous. We walked around the place the hole night looking for somewhere to sit, if I knew it would of been that over packed and uncomfortable I would have not gone. The view of the fireworks was absolutely amazing loved them.

Had cocktails at the bar and diner after that, last Thursday at Blackbird for a very special occasion, as my parents came over to visit me from the Netherlands. Although the staff couldn't promise me a bridge-view-table when making the reservation, we ended up at an excellent table WITH the full bridge-view after all. I'm very sorry to have forgotten the name of our waiter, because he was absolutely marvellous (a tall, beautifully bald man). He was clearly informed about the importance for me of having my parents here and he treated them as if they were royalty, absolute class all around. The food and the wine was, as expected, absolutely excellent. The staff was awesome all around. Thanks again to our excellent waiter. My parents had a magical night and they were absolutely overwhelmed by your friendly service. You made it an experience they will never forget. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately the New Years Eve Event was very disappointing and would not recommend to anyone. We arrived on time and no tables, seats or lounges or barrels left to stand at, leaving us standing for over 4 hours! The food provided was a great variety and we were handed dinner plates but nowhere to sit and enjoy the meal. After standing for a substantial amount of time we even decided to sit on the floor in the hall way just to rest our legs. For an expensive organized event we feel this was very unacceptable and was definitely way too over crowded. The queue for the bar was massive and long waiting times, over 30 minutes. Sorry but we won't be returning.

Wow 10 of us went for my husbands birthday. The place was very busy as you would expect on a Saturday night. Our table was in a great position with the Story bridge in the back ground. Food was beautiful we had a hiccup but was very quickly fixed and well and truly compensated for. The main was gorgeous I had the suckling pork just melted in your mouth. The fish was beautiful and everyone else had steak which they were all happy with. Drinks were brought in a timely manner and cocktails were tasty and very different from the norm. We finished off the night with a birthday cake served with ice-cream. We loved the place so happy we chose it for a very special occasion. Thanks to the lovely staff even thought they were rushed off there feet.

Had lunch at Blackbird today. Steak was exceptional, service absolutely fantastic, wine list superb. The professionalism and knowledge of all staff we had contact with was first rate. Thank you

The most fabulous place. The view was beautiful. The service was perfect. The food was sublime. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

It was exceptional service by our server for my 21st. The chefs and bartenders were amazing with food and drinks catering to our needs. Cannot recommended this place enough

New Years Eve was absolutely wonderful. The food was incredible, so much so that I was way too full to even think about diving into any of the canapés (that were still going strong even at midnight, I was really impressed). There was so much room to move around between levels and there was at least 5 or 6 bars from memory to choose from so that no matter where you were in the venue you didn’t have to travel far for another drink; this was on-top of the multiple tray-service staff walking around with cocktails and Champagne. All of the staff from bar, floor to security had a smile on their face and were up for a chat. VOSS Water on every table to keep everyone hydrated was a lovely touch that really tied the style of the event together (and probably saved us all a lot of pain the next day). All in all it was a fantastic event and well worth the money; we’ll definitely be back.

Beautiful wedding venue. Staff were very attentive and food was beautiful. Would recommend for view of the river too

Food was amazing, loved the menu and service fantastic. Great staff were very friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend for a special night out.

Great venue, delicious food, attentive staff and highly recommend it.

The wood grilled beef was delicious and tender, and the assorted dessert plate was so lovely and refreshing !! Service was excellent and the view was outstanding!! We would defenitely come back here again. Thank you.

The food and service was very good. It started out a lovely night being able to talk to people easily and then a massive group came in who were shouting which was just irritating. Couldn’t even hear myself think. The meat was nicely cooked and tender, fries were great and the salad and beans were fresh and delicious.

We tried blackbird on recommendation. We decided on the degustation and weren't disappointed. The swordfish was the absolute standout dish with perfect balance. The highly marbled F1 Wagyu scotch fillet paired with a peppery shiraz was a close second favourite. Well worth a visit to blackbird. Beautiful food in a beautiful setting.
Cassy Khor
Had an incredible time there, food was amazing and the waiter was down to earth and always ready to be of service. Will definitely come back again (:

Really yummy steaks with good recommendations from the knowledgeable staff. The Angus was a perfect medium rare and such great value. The potatoes in Dutch cream was lovely too. Good bread and wine to top off a lovely dinner overlooking the bridge.

Last Wednesday, I had the privilege of being invited to an  exclusive dinner at Black Bird Bar and Grill. The theme of the dinner was The Farmer, The Chef and The Winemaker and it was an unbelievably opulent night of gastronomical indulgence. . Being seated in the private function room, our eyes were first to feast on the breathtaking views of the Brisbane River and Storey Bridge. As a long table event, I was really pleased to have great company of a few good friends that night.

Only had a beer here but really good view, the bartender was friendly, atmosphere was really good. The menu was abit small and price were a bit high for bar food.

Bizarre ending to a lunch party at Blackbird Bar & Grill...We had pretty good food and fair service (but heavy prices) for a relatives birthday lunch UNTIL we went to leave. A couple of the birthday presents were missing....one of the presents being an expensive pair of earrings...so we looked around and still couldn't find them. We rang others who'd already left, and no, they hadn't picked them up accidentally, so we spoke to the manager who didn't seem too interested. My sister (recipient of the earrings gift) started to press the staff a little harder and asked about their CCTV footage. YES they did record via CCTV, but promptly told NO, we couldn't see that, and NO they wouldn't take the time to look on CCTV. Well, we mentioned maybe the police might need to see the footage if we called them, and finally, the manager went away, and some time later returned from out the back with the earrings, a missing birthday balloon (WT??)...yet no explanation of what may have happened or who may have been responsible, NO apology, just a quick settlement of the bill, and an encouraging arm out the door!......speechless<br/><br/>Upon reflection, we realised one of the waitresses kept dropping cutlery in the same spot at the vacant end of the table which just happened to be where the presents were located. I still can't believe how it all ended...quite surreal how calm and unconcerned they seemed that we'd been "gypsy thieved" by one of their staff. It tainted our celebration, and in retrospect we shouldn't have paid the quite considerable bill, or at least stood up for ourselves a bit more.<br/><br/>Obviously won't be returning, and will happily post this on multiple platforms

First time at Blackbird for my birthday dinner with a friend. The service was friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere, and lighting wasn't too dark. The views of the bridge from the window seating were also beautiful. I had ordered the suckling pig, and my friend chose the quail. We both loved our dishes. We decided to skip entree and get another main to share. We chose the oakey black angus beef with caramelized onion sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly - medium rare to our liking. I also got a side of carrots. Very nicely done. To finish off we got the parfait. Again, nicely executed. I loved the special touch for my birthday. Would definitely recommend as a spot for a dinner date.

Had a leaving dinner for a work colleague tonight and the food left an awful great deal to be desired. Had a rib eye for $65, asked for it to be cooked medium rare and it came out blue. The best part about the meal was the sides. Would only visit here if it was on the corporate dime and you were rinsed and just wanted something to sort your hunger but weren’t fussed about the quality (or price).
Rikki Scarborough
I think this place is overrated. Food is good, but for the same price point, you can do better. Predominately steak focussed menu, the entrees are excellent but mains let the show down. Wine list decent, but surprised to see it’s (apparently) award winning. Good not great.
Peruvian Palate
Great spot for both a sit down fancy meal and for after work drinks. I’ve been to the restaurant and bar and both have very different vibes. Restaurant is fine dining and great view of story bridge. Food is good but wasn’t that impressed. Bar area again has a fantastic view of bridge and staff always seem to be having fun. Great music and drinks are very affordable. I’ve had food quite a few times at the bar area too. Just standard bar food. Nothing to exciting really.
The Dear Luncher
The experience of seeing the lamb shoulder carved up before The Dear Luncher's eyes was enough to result in salivation levels not seen since Pavlov's dog. But then the actual eating of said lamb resulted in near-on orgasmic delight.<br/><br/>The food all-round was elite. The service prompt and attentive. Blackbird is a tremendous venue for a function. The Dear Luncher will make every effort to visit again when in Brisbane next. Check out the live carve of the aforementioned lamb on the TDL Instagram.

Oh my god, I love this place. The food, the view, the drinks! They do beautiful food, I have had many stunning dishes. I would find excuses to celebrate so I can go and try their new menu.

By far our most treasured place to dine 🍽 We are always blown away with the service, ambience & food! My husband LOVES the seafood platter, he said it is fresh & flavorsome. We love the steak, it is always cooked to perfection & the sides are always amazing. Our top picks are-the clay baked potatoes with cheese, the beetroot salad & grilled corn. The dessert is also amazing if you have any room left. The quality of ingredients, location and attention to detail is worth the price point!
Belle
Food: 4.5/5 <br/>Absolutely mouthwatering food, the steak is amazing along with the market fish, gnocchi and soft shell crab. Honestly all amazing food with small portioned starters but that is also to be expected. <br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>The service was nice and professional but a little slow. <br/>Aesthetic: 4/5 <br/>Everything matched beautifully apart from some splashes of extra colour that didn’t quite go with the scheme but the view is beautiful.<br/>Price: 3/5<br/>$150 for two people without desserts is a little pricey but still a beautiful meal.

Spectacular views, lovely cocktails. It was a very busy night, and I'd want to try again on a quiet night. The drinks range is exceptional. Mac and cheese balls were seriously awesome too. Service was a bit rude and abrupt though.

Last night was a classy affair with some close friends and fantastic food which created an amazing atmosphere!!! Dirk was our host for the evening, such a pleasant character whom tended to all of our culinary needs. We all started off with the seafood platter! It was well worth it, including a special taste of the raw honey bug!!! Perfectly paired with a glass of Frogmore bubbles. The Wagyu rump melted in my mouth, the pepper sauce and coleslaw a simple accompaniment but complimented the Wagyu so well! Thank you for a memorable evening Blackbird!!!
The Other Jenners
What a great spot! We had originally thought Blackbird was only an after-works drink spot but oh how wrong we were. The food is fantastic! Our faves? The pork ribs to share and any of their punchy sides (HELLO fries with lemon myrtle aioli). Perfect for a romantic dinner as the view out to the Story Bridge is beautiful. Will definitely return.

Had a mini party to celebrate my friend's birthday in a group of five. Lay-out done up very grand and we can imagine how joyful to dine  in at night with nice river view and beautiful interior deco. Ordered the seafood platter and Goose + Duck pate to share. Seafood platter came in with spectacular portion, they are "fresh, fresh & fresh", pata is soft and rich in flavour which perfectly matched with the toasted brioche (of course we had to order extra piece for five of us). Mains of Lamb Shoulder and Murray Cod were good jobs as well. Murray Cod should be hero of the day, the carmalised skin and perfectly cooked whole fish with juicy meat and well balanced condiments deserved the thumb-up by everyone. I have particularly mentioned about the side dishes of roasted pumpkin and steamed greens, they are the best side dishes that I had for the past one year. Taste, portion and quality are the top of the same kind. Desserts of pear tart and Chocolate mousse made a full stop to the party meals, where the acidity and sweetness of the pear tart is a-must dessert to order for our next visit. Overall, service, food ambience gained well balance scores.

The ambience of the actual restaurant was good, with a somewhat good view of the story bridge. The food was good but inconsistent - my steak, the Black Angus Scotch, was cooked well but my friend's Black Angus Sirloin was undercooked. We also got the Pork Belly and the serving was much smaller than expected, the crackling was soft. For the sides, we got fries and baked potato which were average. Food was not really worth the price, you can probably get similar food at a lower price elsewhere. <br/><br/>The staff weren't very friendly, perhaps because we were younger than the general customer. And even though we made a booking, we had to wait another 40 minutes after our booking time before we could get to our table.<br/><br/>Overall, would recommend to go once to check it out but probably not again.

FOOD 4 0<br/>SERVICE 3.5<br/>AMBIENCE 4.0<br/><br/>The bar and casual dining area are a great place to hang out. Great views to the city and cosy atmosphere. Great on the weekends with good music as well.<br/><br/>The resteraunt offers a fine dining expwrience, away from the hustle and bustle of the bar side of things. Its been decorated well and has great views to the story bridge. The staff are friendly and welcoming and offer a good service.<br/><br/>They do the meats well and are a great place to come back. The share meals are large enough and cam be shared between 3 people. The flavours are done well and presentation is good too.<br/><br/>Overall a good experience.

If meat is your thing - this has to be one (if not) the best in Brisbane. It attracts the prices of Eagle Street dining, but that is justified by the ambiance, layout, service and of-course, view. <br/><br/>If you are going in a party of 3 - i suggest getting the lamb shoulder which i found perfect for 3 ( tried with 2 people and couldn't finish) and then grab a few sides and drinks and you wont be shocked at the bill at the end of the night.<br/><br/>If it is a special occasion - the seafood platter is a must try for an entree (times it by the people at the table so you all get equal amount), and after trying a few of the steak's I don't think you can pick a bad one. I chose the tomahawk. 10/10. Get a few sides such as (steamed greens potato bake and shoe string fries) and you are in for a great experience. <br/><br/>Been back a few times now and will continue to on special occasions.
Little Man
Pretty good but not great.  Good location with a great bar overlooking the river.  My meal was ok but my wife's was very nice (sorry cant recall what she had).   Considering the price I expected better and you will find better in Brisbane

In Brisbane for the day on business, decided we would pop in here for lunch, we were actually the first to enter at the beginning of service which was perfect for us as we were short on time and wouldn't have to wait long for food. Started with a yellow fin tuna tartare which was just fantastic! For mains we chose the hanger steak and scotch fillet, came with fries and salad + a choice of mustards and sauces, the 'pepper kampot' was unreal. As a side we ordered a fried haloumi and heirloom salad which was delicious also! Great views and friendly staff. Hope to come back soon!

Great service, amazing downlighting, food was incredible haven't had anything that has tasted like it before. My partner and I got the duck breast, market fish, pumpkin side platter and bombe Alaska for desert. 10/10 for all the dishes.
Benji
Great dining experience with great views of the Story Bridge. Ordered a T-Bone steak and my partner ordered wagyu steak. Steaks were great and the sides were great as well. Highly recommend the shoestring fries and pumpkin with bacon as sides!
Aussie Meets World
Newcomer to the Eagle Street Pier dining precinct is Blackbird Bar and Grill and its presence is well deserved. The experience starts right from the front entrance with a double staircase taking you up to the main level. It is split into two halves, the restaurant dining area and the bar, and both have uninterrupted views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge.
Mustafa Khan
The food was decent, but the service was terrible!! We were advised that we may have to finish by 830 pm, but were told at the time of booking that they would be able to reshuffle tables to accommodate us. Throughout the whole night they were rushing us and didn't even allow us to look at the dessert menu! The manager was rude and unapologetic. The waiter was impatient and quite frankly disinterested. We saw plenty of free tables when we were asked to leave at 830pm. An absolutely pathetic excuse for a 'fine dining' restaurant. Rather spend your money at any other restaurant by the pier.
Anthony H
Trendy bar and excellent restaurant - we had a few drinks at the bar overlooking the river before heading to the restaurant. The soft shell crab and pheasant tortellini entrees were excellent, as were the steaks and sides we had for main - the cauliflower side dish was a stand out. For dessert we had the warm chocolate tart which was decadent and made for a great finish to the meal.

It's the 2nd time I've been here, but went here for the 1st time with my family for my wife's birthday dinner.<br/><br/>The food is fabulously presented- cooked to perfection and, to be fair, the main meal prices compare equally with those in other restaurants (that are not as 'high end'<br/><br/>From the start the staff that were on last night were really accommodating to our two kids. The maitre d' knew the kids were hungry and had the bread rolls ready for us the moment we were seated.. <br/><br/>Our waitress, Brittany, put through the kids orders really fast. We could hear the chef asking how long our daughter's main was and he really cared.<br/><br/>I had a fear that the service would be pretentious, but I need not have worried. They are really good at what they do and well worth the visit.<br/><br/>Thanks for a wonderful night out to all the team!

Had an amazing dinner here - we were really impressed with the fitout, atmosphere and food. <br/>The staff were all really helpful, knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations on both food and wine. <br/><br/>We started with an entree each. I had the wild mushroom and chestnut blinchiki + chestnut and truffle soup, which was absolutely delicious, and loved the added touch of having the soup poured on at the table. My partner had the goose + duck parfait which came with beautifully fluffy brioche. For mains we shared the wood grilled harissa chicken feasting plate with 2 sides. The chicken was amazing, however we probably only needed 1 side dish as it was a bit too much for just the two of us. That said, we still managed to squeeze in dessert!<br/><br/>All in all, fantastic food and service. Can't wait to go back again.

Beautiful date night spot. The service is always spot on, the food is fresh, delicious and steaks cooked perfectly. The view just makes it the perfect dinner date.

Went for lunch with my brother and sister today and the service and food were incredible. We had the shared pork ribs plus steak and delicious bernaise sauce. The steak melted in my mouth. Cocktails were superb! Yes it is an exy-er restaurant but the quality you get is worth it! The staff were super lovely and always on hand to help :)

Friday nights at Blackbird are hectic, with both the restaurant and bar usually filled up in seconds especially later at night at the bar. Bookings are recommended especially for those peak hours. We decided to try the restaurant as we've been to the bar for drinks and so on but we were quite interested how the restaurant and food were. We were seated right in front of the open kitchen but there were also a more romantic and intimate seating by the window overlooking the Story Bridge in which we would've rather preferred than awkwardly in the middle of the pathway of people entering and exiting and being next to a big loud group of people on a platformed table. We did try and ask for a more intimate and quieter setting but the waiter just said they had none left (in which, they actually had a few empty tables even just for two).

Came here for a birthday with a large group. We were seated promptly and were wowed by the beautiful interior. Steaks were good, pepper sauce was tasty but the real hero was the truffle mustard which was so special. Obviously the view is a huge plus but probably wouldn't return unless it was for a particular celebration because the food probably isn't worth the price if it wasn't for the view.

I came in with a few of my friends earlier today for a birthday celebration and was astonished over how good the service was at this venue. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was accommodating and very knowledgeable. <br/><br/>The venue has a nice ambiance and the cocktails impressed as well. I will visit this venue again next time I am back in Brisbane. <br/>

As a vegetarian I was impressed by how accommodated I was by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The hens egg main was sensational and I would definitely return for that egg custard dessert. #Winning
Slick Chef Extraordinaire. Gangster Of Food.
I have dined at Black Bird's many times and always leave satisfied. The menu is fantastic and well balanced, the food itself is fresh and seasonal. Good quality protiens cooked perfect on their beast of a grill. The Chefs here are great but I can't say the same about the front of house staff. I understand that it gets very busy here but they seem too rushed and often make mistakes. On my last visit our waitress was very rude and I sensed some sarcasm too. I guess you need to take the good with the bad.

We ate until or bellies couldn't handle anymore expecting to pay approx $300! We ended up with a bill just under $150 and we couldn't even finish the food. Nice venue, good food and friendly staff, perfect for events.

Blackbird deserves better than 2.5 but the waitstaff obviously think they are special enough to be subtly very rude to customers bordering on condescending.<br/><br/>It's such a shame because the food is excellent, the location is excellent and the fit out is fantastic. If I was the owner I'd start again with the wait staff and explain that being abrupt and rude is not "cool" or "creates a mystique" to accompany the dining experience.<br/><br/>Like I say, such as damn shame because it's a great place minus the staff.
Michelle
The service was awful as the waitress gave everyone at the table the wrong meal, then left us to figure out whose steak was actually whose without an apology or any assistance. The food was pretty average considering the high pricing and my steak was overcooked. Overall a pretty disappointing experience
2Star
The location was very nice with a great river view and relaxed and friendly staff. The menu was interesting, and well considered. I could tell a lot of effort was put into the combinations that were on offer. The pork was excellent, the caramelized fig was sweet without being overpowering and the use of (what I assume was) Bonito flakes on the corn was a welcome surprise.

Had a corporate lunch here on a Monday. The service was very attentive and the food was lovely. Our table shared a shellfish platter with a combination of scallops, oysters, prawns and bugs. All were beautiful and fresh - the highlight being the scallops! The suckling pig had a moreish square of crackling on top. Other diners complimented the steak. The wait staff could hover a little less, but that's just a tiny criticism from what was a great dining experience.
Alison Chua
We had a share platter of seafood followed by the lamb shoulder. Oh my goodness me - it was fantastic! Great dessert too. I usually find it easy to fault food but this was all great. The place itself was full and as a result very noisy. Our waitress was friendly but could have popped by more often, however the Sommelier / manager was appropriately flirtatious! A great night. Would definitely recommend and re-visit!
Chris
The best steak I have ever had (hanger cut).<br/>The service is exceptional. Been here 3 times, about to book again for Sunday. Try the tomahawk if you have 2+

I love this restaurant. Seriously good fine dining with a relaxed atmosphere and pumping bar. A go-to restaurant when I visit Brisbane, a city quickly becoming a favourite.

(Bar) Work functions here all the time, love the outside seating area, and the cocktails there...but recently they changed the menu...so maybe have to go there again to check them out. <br/><br/>(Grill) <br/>the suckling pig is a must order from the main section!!!! so juicy tender and the size is great. Another one that I like is the side potato, just perfect to share. <br/>a lil disappointed to the soft shell crabs though....don't like the coating ...making it too thick and salty....should really learn from the Japanese.  and regret didn't order any steak...they look so nice from the other table. one tip: to book it near the window, the view is amazing. (Dec'15)

Great place to dine with great food! I had a cheddar cheese platter and the asparagus risotto (as a main size), both were the perfect size and tasted amazing! Great and welcoming staff, great drinks. Really beautiful atmosphere and views. I will be returning very soon!

If you want to dine with a great view, Blackbird is your place. Tonight we decided to go upstairs to the bar and try their accompanying food and drinks menu. If you enjoy all things liquid, in particular scotch, you are in for a treat with such hits as Highland Park 18 yo and Glenmorangie Signet.<br/><br/>Now the food menu isn't as expansive but provides some great sustenance none the less. The slow cooked oyster blade was the chosen one tonight and it married well with their Shiraz by the glass. With tender meat, bags of flavour and uber smooth mash it was a winner from the get go.<br/><br/>The service at the bar can be quite horrendous (packed) but once that is complete the staff coming to our table were fantastic, with one gentlemen being a stand out for his manner.<br/><br/>In closing, a truly good bar meal with a fantastic Brisbane view.<br/>Food 8/10 service 7/10 decor 7/10

The drinks were delicious - especially the expresso cocktail. The service was fantastic - the bar staff were friendly and the floor staff were wonderful. One waitress there, Laura, was so lovely to us and provided us with fantastic service. Would definitely go back :)

I have dined at Blackbird twice in the past couple of months, both times at the bar, and I am impressed.  With arguably the best view of the Storey Bridge, it is the prime location to catch up with friends over a few drinks with some good food.<br/><br/>The service has always been sublime, food is great and as previously stated, the location is amazing!  The only detraction is if the wind is blowing from the wrong direction the fumes from the ferry stop are noticeable.<br/><br/>Recently Blackbird has rolled out Destination Sunday's, re-inventing the Sunday Sesh.  Every Sunday during Summer you have the opportunity to "visit" a new location from around the globe, feasting upon the local cuisine and enjoying classic cocktails and drinks from that region.<br/><br/>All in all, a great place and a must-do in the CBD.  I can highly recommend the Duck Cassoulet and Chorizito.

Had a mixed seafood platter and it was simply scrumptious! Whilst also being great value at only $32 for two people. Followed this with a tenderloin which was cooked to perfection. This arrived with a complimentary range of mustards. I simply loved the truffle mustard. All of this topped with a wonderful selection of wine and experts to recommend the best with our food selection.

On arriving at BlackBird the first impressions I got were that the staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very modern and beautifully decorated. It's quite a large venue with the dining restaurant to one side and the bar area to the other which gives you the option of pre drinks by the river before your meal. <br/>The drinks menu was quite extensive. Plenty of cocktail choices and each delicious as the next. <br/>Once seated at our lovely posh looking table we were greeted and informed by the lovely staff of the menu/ specials etc. <br/>The standout entree was probably the soft shell crab. Beautiful contrast of flavours with sweet, spicy and sour, then with the addition of the crunchy soft shell crab. <br/>The most flavoursome main was the suckling pig. This was a melt in your mouth piece of pork with the most crispy delicious skin on the top. Complimented with a plum purée and a peach sauce. Very delicious! <br/>I would highly suggest Blackbird to anyone, friendly and informative staff, delicious food and a beautiful restaurant at a reasonable price.

First time my girlfriend and I ate dinner at this place. The online booking was easy and I was impressed with the follow up for the reservation on the day of. <br/>The decor and set up was nice and the staff were friendly, helpful and professional.<br/>The food was good including sides ( the bbq sweet corn, the potatoes -awesome!). The steaks were cooked as we requested and were yummy. However, one suggestion-offer more variety of sauces, with only three, a bit limited. The deserts were yum too. All in all, we will recommend and will return! Thanks! Dean and Amanda

Absolutely stunning meal, came here with friends and the food was faultless. The shared mains are huge and represent good value. Beautiful setting and fantastic staff

Visited Blackbird for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. The vibe of the restaurant was great and so was the atmosphere. I loved how they have styled the restaurant so there are different sections with different sorts of tables and chairs. We had large share plates so everyone could experience their range of food. All entrees mains and desserts were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. If there was any negative I would say the share plates were a little small for six people to share, but there was a large variety. I would happily return here

I have dined here a few time and each was better then the last. I personally love the decor and the chilled vibe. Modern Australian done well. Food is always impeccable thanks to jake and his amazing team. We will be back!

Winter in Brisbane is well and truly upon us and if you’re a keen foodie on the hunt for a warming menu that’s healthy and affordable, fear not! The latest winter menu from Blackbird Bar and Grill has you covered. Let’s face it; there are numerous reasons to pay a visit to this restaurant. If you’ve visited before you’ll know the views of the Brisbane Story Bridge are all in its glory while you lounge amongst the decedent and luxurious décor. The opulent appeal to the restaurant will transport you into a scene of the Great Gatsby movie.

This place is one of our favourites in Brisbane.  We have dined regularly with family (kids 13 and 10) and extended family and we love it.  We enjoyed the private room for a special family occasion for 10 of us recently and were treated almost like royalty. Service on all occasions especially for the kids has been exceptional.  The menu has great variety with good side options (not too over-priced) and the food has always been of the highest quality.  Considering the price of some pub steaks around, I would happily take a Blackbird grill any day!  Overall value is great given the quality of service and food we have experienced and the location.  Would always recommend this place!

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.  Very impressive.<br/><br/>We went to Blackbird for an 8.30pm booking on Friday night, celebrating our anniversary.  This was the first time I have gone there to eat, and I now cannot wait for another excuse.  <br/><br/>We were seated at one of the best tables, right by the glass windows and with stunning views of the story bridge.  I hadn't even requested this nor advised it was our anniversary - yay!  The service could not be faulted, with waiters/waitresses constantly available and steadily checking in.  The food was absolutely incredible, best steak I've had in Brisbane.  And the wait was definitely reasonable.  The wine list (book) was very impressive, and the wine obviously delicious and well-recommended.  The ambiance was great, very classy and beautiful however not pretentious.<br/><br/>HIGHLY recommended.

Went there for my 40th Birthday, I have dined 5 times now, and love everything  about Black bird. The food is so good and worth the money. It is a little bit pricey but am happy to pay as I know we will walk away full and happy. My only complaint is the Cheese board, is disappointing and the serve of cheese is quite small for the price.

The bar area is great, it is on the river and some great views on the outdoor area. The main attraction is the food, the steaks are top shelf and the wine list is extensive. I have been here a number of times and each time it seems to get better each time. A great place to take some one special.

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary dinner. The decor is beautiful and we had a fabulous view of the Story Bridge.  The bread and handmade butter on the table was a lovely touch and very delicious too. We ordered the cumin spiced lamb shoulder to share, from the feasting menu as well as two side dishes - the mushroom gratin and the clay baked dutch cream potatoes with parmesan and rosemary salt. Everything was beautiful! The lamb was cooked to perfection and simply fell off the bone and was cut from the bone at our table. The gratin was delicious but just paled in comparison to the potato side dish. The potato was cooked perfectly and served in this amazing sauce and was just generally amazing. We had a fabulous night and though I would have loved to sample the tiramisu we were just far too full.<br/><br/>This was our second anniversary dinner at Blackbird and we'll definitely be back!

Went here on the whim for dinner on a work trip and my gosh it was so good. The decor is the 1920s and feels very exclusive when you enter the restaurant. It overlooks the stoney bridge in eagle pier.<br/><br/>For entrée we got the silk purse from sow’s ears with glasshouse mountain snails and green goddess dressing and it was a touch dry. We also got the warm citrus cured NZ king salmon with baby squid, garlic, Saffron and ink linguini. The whole dish was amazing with really fresh flavours. Clearly it was so good I just wolfed it down without taking any photos…

Visited BlackBird with my boyfriend for his birthday. Booked a while in advance, but the two of us were seated at the end of a large table (for 8?) in the middle of the restaurant, surrounded by groups, and felt quite uncomfortable throughout the evening. Service was ok, nothing special, the usual standard of service in Brisbane. Food was pleasant enough, but not really worth the price - of all the dishes we tried the mac and cheese skillet was the tastiest.

What a great night. We had dinner in the main restaurant section & the food was to die for. Very different for Brisbane, well done. The pricing was on the high side but no real complaints given the quality.

Rude...worst customer service. Well what can I say, the rudest staff, was not offered a drink for 30mins. I know I'm not 20 but really we are the customer remember. The young girl for our table treated us like we were second class citizens. Not one person out if 16 said they would go back. Very poor effort Blackbirds. <br/><br/>Oh and wait they just rang 2 days later to say did we want the left over birthday cake or should they throw it out. Well we didn't know there was cake left on the night, shouldn't it have been offered then.<br/><br/>Oh and my friend who arrived early, asked about where we might be and was told oh the only other old people are around the corner...how presumptuous of you.

I go for the very rich Chocolate Pave… Chocolate pavè with poached pear, dates and almond milk ice cream The rich, chocolately sensation of the pave cannot be described. This dish gives a tingly feeling to each one of your senses as the rich chocolate enters your bloodstream. The creamy pave surface has a wonderful crumbly base to mix it up from a texture perspective. The sweet stickiness of the dates adds to the sweet sensation of the dish while the milder ice-cream acts as a beautiful balancing touch to the richness of the pave. The poached pear has a sweet grainy texture to the dish which is dominated by the chocolately strength and flavour of the pave.

Overpriced for what you get.. Venue itself is nice. You are surrounded by "beautiful people" from the woman who takes you to your table to the wait staff, except the wait staff in stark contrast have a "farmer-like" apron on which is slightly strange for such a classy looking place... Food average, basic, and not what I would class fine dining, from the steaks to the quinoa "risotto". Nothing that is a party in your mouth that's for sure and I tried 4 of our 6 dishes. Heavy emphasis on steak, though I'd expect more creativity from more complex combination of flavours. There's nothing WRONG with the food, but nothing SPECIAL about it either. Wines expensive for what they are. Only other thing is seeing chefs from most tables. Every time a pretty girl walks past they gawk and have a little 3 word private chat - unprofessional. Nothing terrible but not what I expected. It's a kind of "bogan fine-dining equivalent" for people who don't know better. I mean I know people who think "Montezumas" is great. If that's you, you will probably like this place.

Perfect!. My birthday dinner last night was just fabulous in every way - <br/>Incredible surroundings with a view of the Storey Bridge with bonus lightening flashes; delicious seafood platter and Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare for starters; shared melt in your mouth BBQ lamb with wood BBQ sweetcorn with smoked paprika butter and steamed broccolini on the side and then dessert of crème brule and a blue cheese platter. All this whilst washed down with various wines by the glass as no one wine could cover the spectrum. The staff where quietly attentive, knowledgeable and went the extra mile. <br/>I am not often moved to write a review but last night left me with such a fabulous feeling. <br/>My birthday dinner was just perfect - thank you Blackbird Bar & Grill - we can't wait to return and I will ensure that everyone knows.

Love It. I'm mystified by some of the previous reviews - I have eaten at Blackbird for both lunch and dinner several times - I love it - thought the service was good, food really good, had steak & fish - I couldn't fault it and also thought it was very reasonable considering the location - the fact that there is a great bar for pre and after drinks is a bonus. :-)

Never again. Food ok service appalling Coffee disgusting. Noisy expensive Avoid the bar!

How rude. We had a very expensive lunch with friends and moved out to the bar area blue shirt wanka in charge advises us when it starts to rain that we can move inside but no table available . after heated discussions a table for becomes available we then get told after the rain stops that we have to move interest ly enough the younger set gets preferential treatment basically if you are young and beautiful that takes preference over quality whenvtryingbto discuss this with blue shirt wanka he obviously agrees we will not be back and will not encourage young care to continue fundraising here

Fancy. Delicious food, awesome service and not rushed, worth the $. will return for sure

We really enjoyed our meals. Service was wonderful. <br/>I would encourage people to book by telephone and not use the online booking. We arrived and our booking was not there. They gave us a table which was very nice but we're told we had to be out by 1930. When we got home we found an email confirming we had a table until 2015. This did not spoil our evening at all. Staff made sure we were served promptly.<br/>We dined on a Friday night and there was a table of 6 really noisy girls near us who were rudely disturbing others. Again food and service so good I could ignore.

BlackBird is an exceptional venue. The food is superb, waiters well informed on menu and wine items, atmosphere elegant, and view phenomenal. <br/>Definitely a favourite.

Terrible. I ordered a rare steak and it came out well done...for a restaurant where they mainly serve steaks...well this is not acceptable. Also no air con and it was very noisy...will not go back there
Matthew Remedios
Average food - terrible service and push to have diners out for the second sitting from the time you sit down. $900 for 4 people - hour wait for main and told no time for coffee or desert as 815 and we needed to vacate the table! We were reminded three times during the meal that the clock was ticking! Appalling - never going again: wine list was overpriced with crazy mark up for poor vintages. Blackbird done and ticked!!!

Hugely disappointed. Good: river view, speed and timing of service, attentive staff<br/>Bad: FOOD... AWFUL FOOD!!<br/>Seriously one of the worst value for money. My fish was extremely dry and tasted like cardboard.<br/>The grilled lemon on the side... Good effort trying to make it fancy somehow by grilling it but it does not work at all. It is really a lemon cut in half. It's sour and inedible.<br/>My husband's "medium" T bone steak was way overcooked to anyone's eye.<br/>A new one was brought out - this time, you could see blood on the meat.<br/>I understand they tried to make it quick but seriously, customers can tell if the steak has been properly rested or not. I will never go back.

Food with a 'home-cooked by a good cook' feel. My husband and I visited on a Saturday night and thought the food was excellent. We shared a roast chicken with middle eastern spices and various side dishes. There are no foams/froths/silly bells and whistles with this food. It is quality, well-cooked homestyle eating. Spices and herbs are used liberally which is big plus. We felt the portions were generous and we have big appetites! A great addition to Brisbane!<br/><br/>Oh and the cocktails are always expertly made! I couldn't believe that the very young staff could be producing such perfectly balanced drinks like the negroni and margarita I had!
Candice
The service was excellent, and I enjoyed a delicious martini. However, my guest and I both thought the food had missed the mark. The moreton bay bug lasagne and swordfish dishes were disappointing. To end on a positive note, we did enjoy the chocolate tart and rhubarb desserts!
N_patto92
Food was great, and the decor of the restaurant was beautiful. The service was abit hit and miss and not to the standard I would expect for a restaurant of this class in this area. <br/><br/>I will return purely for the food and the view.
Lauren
Mostly great. While I enjoyed my evening at Blackbird, I did find the restaurant too noisy and this made it difficult to enjoy conversation over the table. The food was wonderful and I really loved the décor inside. Service was not very professional, but that's standard for Brisbane. More attention to detail would raise Blackbird to the level I was expecting.<br/>The Moreton Bay Bug Raviolo is superb!
Shodeara
Lamb For 2. This dish continued to impress me. What a generous portion and how amazingly prepared! This is one of the best lamb dish I get in the city!
Nigellerella
Pub grub. Murray cod was miniature and not worth $25 let alone $60. Waitress had to return it as it was under cooked. Trifle was overly sweet. No finesse with any of the dishes. Brisbane has no competition if people are queuing to come here.
The_hawke13
Great!!. Had a beautiful night at one of Brisbane's best new restaurants we enjoyed the gnocchi with black cabbage and raviolo both were unmistakably perfect. For mains it was sirloin with a rich béarnaise sauce and the incredibly juicy pork cutlet both were cooked on top of and open flame!!! For dessert we shared the chocolate tart with mandarin it was warm and oozing out of the pastry. We had great service all night they were very attentive even on a busy Saturday night. With easy ample parking under the eagle street pier. This has been my best food experience in Brisbane yet give it a try you won't be disappointed

Steaks are outstanding.

Fantastic! We dined at Blackbird last night and it was absolutely faultless. We had a great table over looking the bridge which was a lovely surprise. The service was some of the best we have ever received, as were all entrees, mains and dessert. The seafood and steaks are a must! Very fresh and flavoursome. The desserts are also supurb, oppose to other fine dining restaurants on Eagle Street. One of the best meals and dining experience we have ever had. Cannot recommend highly enough! Thank you Blackbird we will be back!

Benchmark raised in Brisbane. Faultless. Menu and quality of the food & service the highlight.

I came to blackbird with friends for my birthday dinner and the food, service and drinks were incredible. The starters were delicious and presented beautifully. After getting recommendations from our waitstaff for mains we chose two share platters and were so glad we did. The lamb and the chicken were both melt in your mouth delicious. Can't wait to go back!

This place must be killing it. Tried to book for 18 people at lunch to be told we MUST have either the $70 or $80 3 course option plus drinks on top... No negotiation to have one or two courses. Turning down a $1800 or so lunch booking.. Hospitality must be better than we thought
Clare86
This place is absolutely pathetic!

Faultless !. We cannot fault this restaurant. We went for a long lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food was imaginative and tasted wonderful, the service spectacular and friendly. This is what a top restaurant should aspire to. The whole table were totally impressed by the wonderful experience. Just the best one without any doubt that I have been to this year. Stand outs were the wild rabbit tortellini and the NZ Venison loin.

Would never go back. My sister and I reserved a table here for my last night in Brisbane a couple of months ago and I was very disappointed. After living in Brissy for 2 years and having frequently dined at many restaurants in the city, Blackbird has got to be at the bottom of my list.<br/>Upon arrival we were told that there would be a wait on our table and would be notified when it was ready. After half an hour I had to approach the staff to ask what was happening and we were told to have a seat and wait. Finally , after 45 minutes we were seated. We ordered a bottle of wine. We watched for up to half an hour while those who had come after us were served their bottles. It seemed that the staff at this restaurant seem to favour serving their friends and indulging them with freebies while paying customers wait. <br/>We had a lump of butter on our table and was not even served bread until we pointed out that other diners who had come after us had been served theirs.<br/>To make matters even worse, the lamb, one of the 3 mains on the menu was not available. Professional staff would have made the diner aware at the start and not wait until mains were ready to be ordered.<br/>The whole night left a very sour taste in my mouth.<br/>The manager did come out to apologise but giving us 2 free glasses of Moet is not going to give me back the 3 hours I wasted at this restaurant.<br/>The meals were good but not great.<br/>If you want to have a great night out dining don't waste your time at Blackbird!
