Review Suburban West End - Brisbane

Ashleigh Stam
Friendly staff and aesthetic food. I loved that there was a vegan breakfast option of a more fancy avocado on toast. I thought the sweet potato chips were a fun addition however I think the dish would be better if the beetroot was not pickled. It made the whole dish very sour. I loved the inclusion of a lotus biscoff biscuit with each drink for takeaway and dine in.

A cafe in the middle of bustling West End. Gets quite busy on the weekend so you might want to book. There's everything you would want for brunch - solid food, coffee and cocktails (after 10am)! They have new specials every weekend to keep things fresh. Service was very friendly and warm.

Amazing menu! I wanted everything on the menu. It was vegan and vegetarian friendly, there was also a great drinks menu including alcohol from 10am. Ordering is easy, all via app from your table. I got the zucchini fritters with extra eggs. It is relatively expensive but it was delicious so worth paying for it. All the other meals at my table were also beautifully presented

Great customer service and the food is delicious. Pet friendly venue and has friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend their brunch menu :)

The customer service here is amazing, they make you feel welcome from the door, and the food was 10/10 too. This cafe is my favourite in the area from now. Thank you ♥️♥️

I’ve been at Suburban last Sunday. I ordered the Eggs Beni with crispy bacon since most of the cafes serve soft, but instead I received burned bacon. My friend ordered a Breakfast burrito that came without cheese and sauce (not sure what, aioli maybe). The highlight was the potato rosti, really yummy.

Got there near closing time expecting them to turn us away but took the chance after a poor experience up the other end of the street. Glad we did because the food is well prepared with fresh ingredients. Coffee and Eggs Benedict very nice. The potato rosti is a nice touch! Service with a smile and good attitude. This is very rare in West End. Thank you for sticking to your advertised closing time and feeding us and the 4 other people that came in after us. Will be back!

Nice casual cafe in handy Westend location plenty near by shopping Center parking so I can shop and enjoy a nice brunch 🌼 Love the easy online menu friendly service 👌

Got the eggs benny special ($12). Perfectly cooked eggs and crispy bacon. Was a bit small (only had one slice of sourdough) but very reasonable considering the price.

My friend and I both tried the eggs Benedict with salmon and the iced chai latte. The Benny doesn’t come with the hash anymore even though it’s still on the menu. It was an average Benedict but felt a little small without the hash. The chai was made with blended ice which I haven’t tried before and wasn’t a fan of.

It's better to sit indoor. There were too many flys outside🤣

The food was good. I ordered scrambled eggs on rye toast. The bacon was well cooked.
The star was the coffee or I should say the barista: my doppio was served at perfect temperature in a hot cup, it was just heaven!
Marich
The menu is interesting and different but not healthy options. It would be nice if they add some other common items for breakfast. Staff was very nice and friendly. Food was very well presented but not my type.

Always a consistently good meal here - pretty quick & good service. The Suburban Benny and all of their breakfast options I've had have been delish!

Came across this place early Saturday morning whilst walking around The West End. The staff were friendly and helpful but let down by the wait and standard of coffees and food... Flat white was average and the courgette fritter breakfast was only ok. Nothing special, very stodgy and not much flavour. Possibly just having a bad day!
Spice Is Life
Visited Suburban for dinner and was looking forward to it because of its high rating.

Came here for the burgers- I got the Loaded Cheeseburger ($21) and my wife got the New Age Cheeseburger ($16). Now where do I begin? The bun was served cold and dry, my fried egg served over cooked and not runny, and the cheese slice unmelted and hard (straight out of the cool room it seemed). Sweet potato fries were pretty soggy, but not too bad. My wife’s New Age Cheeseburger was as tasty as meatless patties can go- but the buns and the ‘cheese’ were both also served cold.

The good thing about this place though is that they serve the drinks per bottle and can, instead of just giving your drinks in a glass. Such a shame as this place is local to us, and we would have loved to come back.

This place is great! One of my favourite things about it is that they cook the food right in front of you. The food itself is absolutely delicious
DianaW
The food here is basic & safe stuff like burgers & fries. My order was cauliflower bites which were crunchy & fresh & came with a nice relish. Also had the fish & chips, small pieces of whiting in a delicate crumb. The sweet potato fries also highly recommended , delicious salty & crunchy

This place is amazing! The staff are great and the food is always prepared fresh! One time they accidentally messed up my order and they gave me what I had been given for free but also have me a free drink too! Always a great place for breakfast!

Despite the good reviews, we didn’t enjoy the food as much as we thought we should. Went here on a Saturday night, the cafe was not too busy and we were seated very quickly. For starters we ordered the chicken bites. I don’t really know how to express my feelings about these chicken bites. Very chewy and not pleasant to eat, came out with maybe 6 pieces for $9. I’d probably give it a negative 10 if I could. For main I ordered the clucky burger and my partner got the 3 tacos for $15. The burger was average and needed more seasonings. Tacos were flavourless, served cold and bland. Food was not worth the money even with 50% The Fork offer. I’m sorry but I don’t think we’ll be back here to try there breakfast menu despite the good reviews.

Surburban is a good cafe which plenty of options. I saw they had a chicken schnitzel benedict and had to try it. Overall i was pretty happy with the meal although i was left a little hungry still.

All in all great service, great venue and good location for people watching.

Easily one of my fave places to go for brunch and dinner. I've been having their tacos lately and the pork tacos are to die for. And they come with a lettuce alternative if you don't want a tortilla! Their fish and chips are also delicious and have some of the nicest batter I've had. The staff are lovely, the food is fantastic. Looking forward to returning soon.

Went to this place on a groupon voucher and it turned out a great experience. Booking was simple. The place is almost next to the bus stop. I got greeted at when entering. I ordered the overloaded cheese burger with normal fries and I did get overloaded after finishing the meal. The bun doesn’t look overly big, but the stuffing is a lot and tastes really good. The seating and environment are very relaxing and I also took a picture of the canvas on the wall. The service is very friendly and I would highly recommend this place.

Suburban has a great atmosphere located in West End . Fast service & excellent food ! Eggs on toast with haloumi & avocado was simply delicious! If you want a delicious breakfast & excellent service , be sure to visit !
Alex
The food was amazing food, the staff were friendly, I cannot fault anything about this place. One of my favourite spots for breakfast 😋 great how there is so much variety for vegetarians also

Had brekkie with Meatballs And Beef Cheeks at this place in the morning. No doubt this cafe located at a very eye-catching position so business is not bad when we arrived at 7:00am. We took a seat inside the cafe and was greeted by the wait-staff immediately. I placed an order of flat white while Meatballs was reading the menu. He then ordered the poached eggs with grilled bacons with additional pulled pork and I had he grilled mushrooms with additional smoked salmon. My coffee came first, which was not so impressive because my visual appraisal told me that it should be a watery one. Well, it proved to be true that it even was worse than the one that I had at the service station early in the morning. Having said that both savory dishes gain marks back. They both look spectacular and also taste good. Particularly the poached eggs that Meatballs had look very smooth and I can see the egg yolk spreading out when Meatballs used a fork to pierce through the eggs. If and only if the coffee can be done a little bit better, it would be the perfect brekkie for both of us. It is a shame!
Rating 3.5/5

First time having breakfast here, we ordered a cappuccino, the kings breakfast ($24) and the Eggs Benedict ($10). The kings breakfast was generous in portion and ingredients fresh. The eggs Benedict was also great, eggs were cooked perfectly, hollandaise sauce rich and creamy and bacon cooked well. The only con was that the bread was over toasted and rock hard... For only $10 (Monday-Friday) though it is great value for money. The coffee he is also great and we would return.
Cherlyn
Pretty good stuff here for their mains. Had their breakfast nachos - and damn those were good & a generous portion. A tad bit on the pricy side, but it tastes good for what it is.
Ahlam Zay
Asked for vegan schnitzel burger and they served me an actual chicken meat. They handled the issue as if it was a simple coffee mix up kinda thing and that was very disappointing. Definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone with food allergies or special requirements as I don't think they take it seriously. I feel very sick and disgusted. Will never go there again.
Releasetheslop
Never had a bad meal or experience at this cafe! Definitely have the best chai latte I’ve ever tasted. The food is also amazing, I would recommend the eggs benedict, the breakfast nachos and the breakfast parmi.

Have been wanting to try this place for a while now since it's so close to home and finally found the time! We came on a Sunday and it was half full meaning we could get a seat immediately.

The Breakfast Nachos was delicious - potato was crispy and the mince topping was flavorful! Only downside was I found it a bit too heavy for breakfast so probably better to share with others. The Eggs Benedict was amazing! Very generous servings of yummy pulled pork and potato hash was nice and crispy however, the bread was a bit too hard for our taste.

The iced coffee was one of the best we have ever had, perfect mix of sweetness and bitterness from the coffee and ice cream but the matcha latte was a let down. There was barely any matcha flavour, the only thing that could be tasted was the almond milk.

Overall, definitely a good brunch place and we are keen to come back to try other dishes and the Eggs Benedict again!

Live around the corner and come here a lot. Have always enjoyed the Benny 😁 and the staff are really great. Not charging extra for alternative types of milk 🥛 or bread 🍞 is a refreshing change. The only negative is that the coffee could be warmer on occasion but overall a very nice spot.

Came in on a early Saturday morning and loved it!! Service was fast and food was amazing!! Recommend the breakfast nachos, was glad we decided to share cause the meals are huge!!

One of my favourite Brisbane breakfast spots - can't go past their breakfast nachos every time I'm here. They are SO delicious. Suburban has such a great, varied menu with food to cater to everyone's preferences. While the breakfast nachos (with potato scoops, mince, poached eggs and hollandaise + add guac) are my favourite, I would also definitely recommend the breakfast bagel, the fritters and of course the classic $10 eggs benny (but also add the hash cake cause it's yum!).
Hannah85
Wonderful cafe with warm and welcoming staff. Had the French toast which was DIVINE. Could be the best sweet breakfast option I've had in Brisbane for a long time. Bagel that my partner ordered was pretty ordinary. Lovely coffees.
PaulaMc
I had breakfast nachos here today - potato 'scoops', Mexican beans, guacamole and a chilli hollandaise. Just sensational. Remarkable, even. All my food dreams come true. The coffee was first class also. Highly recommended
Chantelle Hiley
I had made a reservation for 7 people Sunday lunch which they forgot but luckily there was plenty of seating available. I ordered the winter bowl which had too many leaves vs beetroot, etc which was a little shame because the cauliflower tasted amazing and I wanted more of it. The crowd pleaser meal was the breakfast nachos.
Ang Berry
You really can't go past a 10 dollar eggs benedict. They are super generous with their bacon servings. Love that the iced coffee actually tastes like coffee and not just milk.

I thought I'd check out yet another one of the many cafes and restaurants in my home suburb. I often seem to frequent the same place. I was super glad I tried somewhere new!

The wait staff were friendly and accommodating. I ordered the 'Breakfast Bruschetta' which consisted of: prosciutto, 2 poached eggs, ricotta, macadamia pesto, roast cherry tomatoes on a slice of toasted Turkish bread. First up, I have to say, for $17 this is a powerhouse dish full of flavour, balance and generously portioned. The eggs were cooked to perfection as were the beautifully blistered roasted cherry tomatoes. The macadamia pesto made for a really interesting surprise to the dish. All in all, I loved this dish. I'll be back for sure to try something else from the noteworthy menu.
Daly54
Food and beverages selection both excellent and catered to varying tastes and sensitivities. Zucchini fritters were excellent. Teamed it with Iced Matcha Latte.

Walking past across the road I saw $10 eggs benedict, my bang for buck detector went off and I was sold.

Went to counter but it's full table service, ordered juice, coffee and bacon benny. Saw you could add a hash cake as a side so could not resist.

Drinks and food came out promptly and as you can see look really tasty. It was.

My only neggie and heaps of places do it- is I can't stand 'dairy maid' brand hollandaise. For $10 I was not expecting much more so forgot to get the sauce on the side. But now I know and regardless it is a good deal. The hash cake was ok, a little dry and in need of seasoning but a less tasty hash cake is better than no hash at all.

Jamila Kriletich
I'm a big fan of this place. We come here after training for a ten dollar Benny. You can't get that price anywhere else, huge serving, yummy hollandaise and heaps of it, good thick haloumi and I've had the pork too and it's so good. Really nice coffee, really well made, also an organic bean I just found out, bonus, and really really nice staff. What's not to like. Has become a regular stop for me, prices like that too good.

A nice selection of breakfast choices, including some creative dishes. We chose the breakfast nachos (with added avocado) which was outstanding - instead of the usual corn chips, they used deep fried potatoes (cross between wedges and thick curly fries). An absolute winner! The eggs Benedict with bacon was also lovely, and I loved the unexpected hash cake though I prefer my sourdough toast buttered :) Service was attentive but lacked a genuine warmth as did the ambience. Nevertheless, we will be back!

Another quality breakfast establishment in west end. Always generous serves and the specials are always good. Friendly speedy service and a great location to people watch.
Breakfast - Kings Breakfast
Beverage - chai Tea
The Brunch Plight
Ash and the team at Suburban Café have nailed the brunch brief as far as we're concerned. The food and coffee are perfect and the staff are friendly. The café is always busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings but there is never much of a wait. The menu caters for everyone so if you’re dairy free, gluten free, sugar free or vegan they’ll have a dish for you.
Kinnii
Saw good reviews of Suburban on Zomato and decided to check it out with my bestie. Turns out to be one of the most impressive brunch we had so far. We had the King's Breakfast and the Smashed Avo with added side of Smoked Salmon. The presentation of the food was lovely, but what blew us away was the smokey flavours of the pork sausages and halmoui. The crispy potato hash had special thumb ups from the bestie too. Loved it, and I'll be back for more next time, perhaps for the zucchini fritters too.
Rosemary Beard Cafe
Just absolutely brilliant. A menu that covers a wide variety flavours and ingredients. Quick service, pleasant wait staff. And good coffee. Suburban cafe is a new favourite.
Nicole
I've been here twice now and had the eggs benny with bacon both times. It is just that good!!!
It comes with a super generous serving of bacon - almost (almost!) too much bacon, but can there ever be such a thing?!? and an excellent amount of sauce, there is no need to ask for extra. One thing that ruins eggs benny is not enough sauce and these guys nail it! The coffee has been great too, never burnt or bitter.
I'll be going back again this weekend! It's definitely become a favourite!!

Wasn't too impressed by the chicken burger. Biggest turn off was the stale and crumbly bun. The burger consisted of just four ingredients which were unimpressive: pickled sushi ginger, lettuce, karaage chicken, wasabi mayo. The chicken karaage wasn't done in the authentic manner we're all used to, the crispy coating peeled off. The Mayo was without wasabi flavour. Leave minimalism to the Japanese, and do what you must to make a burger substantial and tasty. Service was great, friendly staff.

Came here for brekkie on Sunday and the place was already busy. There is inside and outside seating but outside seating is more spacious and less cramped. Service was pretty good considering they were packed and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time.
We had the sweetened iced matcha latte but it was still bland and a flat white which was nice.
We ordered the pulled pork omelette with jalapeño jam which was fluffy and delicious, the only down side was the jalapeño jam was too sweet and didn't have any spice to it at all. We also ordered the waffles which I have to say is one of the best ones I've ever had.

Faes Food
The menu here has something for everyone and is super fresh. The breakfast nachos sound wrong but are so right. We also tried the sweet waffle option and the burgers which were all good. Coffee was also nice. All day breakfast and lunch menus running simultaneously is awesome especially on lazy weekends. The place is also family friendly with kids chairs and staff who are very accommodating when it comes to prams and kids food.

West End and I have a beautiful food relationship - Saturday mornings at the Davies Park Markets are a ritual, breakfast at one of the many cafes is a weekly thing and it's my go to area for close cheap eats. And yet there are still places I'm yet to eat at. Until recently Suburban West End was one of them. Perhaps it's just that I have my favourites I like to revisit or that the nondescript name and unobtrusive location hadn't caught my eye. Either way, that changed recently when I was invited to try Suburban's new menu and met C for a pre-work feed.
Dan The Man
After two Sunday breakfasts at Suburban I'm happy to call it one of my Brisbane faves and certainly one of the best West End options. The service level was high on both occasions and the dishes delicious. This is a great little cafe to bring some friends and enjoy some outside dining on the weekend.

My husband and I went for a late lazy Sunday brunch. Ordered the matcha green tea latte, freshly squeezed OJ, the Kings breakfast, and the eggs Benedict with pulled pork.
The service form the beginning was great - friendly and fast. The green tea lattes were AH-MAY-ZING. I'm not a fan of sweet coffees etc, so I was a bit worried that they would make it like Starbucks and used the syrup. I was pleasantly surprised that it was organic, not sweetened, and deliciously frothy. Best one I've had to date! The eggs Benedict was delicious. I wasn't too sure whether the pulled pork would work since I'm used to pulled pick being a lot juicier with sauces, etc. but in this case they kept it dry so as not to affect the sauce. It was delicious - and quite a big serving. The potato 'hash brown' good- crispy on the outside, and mushy in the middle. Yum!! My husband had the Kings breakfast, which he loved mainly because they used his favorite PORK chipolata sausages. All in all a good brunch meal. 10/10

Don't expect flexibility or a desire to meet customer needs - Went to Suburban for brunch on a Saturday morning. I don't eat bread, so I asked if I could have eggs benedict and substitute the bread for hash browns instead. The waitress pulled a face as if she was having a seizure, and nervously said "it'll probably cost you more and I'll have to ask chef". On her return I was advised that 'chef' would reluctantly grant my request, but I would be charged an extra $8 - $4 each for the hashies. And a discount for not including bread? Wasn't taken into account. So charge more for extras, but won't give a discount for removing items from the plate. That doesn't add up, and neither would a return visit to this ordinary cafe from me. The Establishment across the road is streets ahead, and they're flexible with their menu. Who is the customer anyway?
Angel Nguyen
Went here on a Saturday morning for brunch with my boyfriend. We ordered the 'King's brekkie'(which is pre much a big brekkie) and an Eggs benedict with bacon. We also got a couple of drinks. I ordered the pressed OJ and he got the coconut iced coffee since it waa recommended. We both found that the coconut iced coffee tasted too strong and we could barely taste any coconut. This was quite a let down. The food also took awhile to come out - even though it wasn't that packed. I think we waited for over 30 mins for our food. Despite this, I'd have to say it was one of the best brunch meals I've ever come across. I will definitely come back. Hopefully next time, the wait isn't as bad.
Jennifer Vink
Absolutely love my green bowl! Added poached eggs and smoked salmon, yum! Feel like I could eat this everyday. Should have taken a picture though..

Nice place on the main drag at West End. Great all day breakfast menu and good selection for lunch. Went for the chicken burger - "popcorn" style chicken with wasabi mayo and lettuce. Really nice - couldn't really taste the wasabi but pretty tasty nonetheless. My colleague had the pulled pork burger with sweet potato fries which was a little spicy as advertised. Good place with relatively quick service which is what you want for a lunch venue.

West End's Suburban Cafe has just launched their brand spanking new menu and boy has it got some indulgent dishes. We opted for the breakfast nachos and the fried chicken waffles. For just $16 the breakfast nachos were great value for money and had a generous amount of savoury mince. All very flavoursome!! Loved the fried chicken waffles, although they could've done with a dollop of some sort of sauce. As for service, the staff were excellent and tended to every need straight away. Definitely check this place out if you're after different breakfast options.
Bunny
Came here for a birthday lunch and service was very friendly upon arrival. There were a lot of options on the menu to choose from and not to mention really delicious options! But I had just settled for a house smoked salmon eggs Benedict which was delicious. The eggs were perfectly poached and the house made salmon was delicious however I could have used a little bit more hollandaise since I'm like my sauces but other than that, it was really good even with the side of potato hash offered on the meal. The ice coffee was really good as well and after finishing the meals, all my friends said they enjoyed the food and the service.
Would come back to try different items in the future!
Luke
Had to wait a while during breakfast rush (even though there were tons of staff on). The food made up for it. Also got a salted caramel milkshake, which was perfectly balanced! At first my girlfriend said she didn't like the salt, but after three sips she ordered her own!

Bit overpriced, though.
Milly
I was very excited looking at the menu, that i had trouble selecting what to eat cause everything sounded so goodd!! I decided on the zucchini fritters and was not disappointed with the portion and taste :) the hand-cut fries were also very crunchy, thick and left us wanting more. The acai smoothie was fresh and delicious while the vanilla shake was tasty but there was kinda too much froth on top ~ overall we would definitely come back!!!
Misscharlot
things getting better for suburban, maybe they changed the chef, that's why. food looks better (more photogenic) and also tastes better these days.
Joshua Sanderson
I get the bacon eggs benedict and it's always delicious. The Hollandaise is just right, not too yellow, not too tangy. The service is friendly and the owner is a good guy.

It is so, so inspiring to meet other like-minded people with similar health philosophies and its even better when such people are responsible for serving your breakfast. After Ash (the manager of Suburban), shared his passion for healthy and wholesome living, I knew I was both in good company and hands for my Saturday morning!

With whole food eating a personal priority for Ash, the new menu does nothing but reflect this. Ash has recognized and appreciated the demand for healthy and nutritious Brisbane dining options and has responded accordingly with a recreation of a seriously impressive, health focused menu. These changes cater for everyone’s preferences with plenty of gluten free, vegetarian and VEGAN options. I know vegan options appear to be quite rare throughout Brisbane menus so I was very excited to be able to share this highlight for all of you beauties :)

The focus for Ash is using fresh produce and ensuring its quality through authentic and honest cooking. As much as possible is made within the store, from fresh orange juice to the various dishes dispersed over the all day breakfast and lunch menu. Salivate over an incredible selection of superfood & raw salads, pulled pork omelettes, avocado stacks, house smoked salmon dishes and deliciously filled burgers.

When Ash sources products to buy into the store, the priority remains for clean, whole food products free from processing and additives. As a result of such hard work, sourcing, research and effort, the end product served to you is fresh, wholesome and of an extremely high quality – all for a very reasonable price!

There is so much passion behind this cafe. The drive for innovation and health has Ash constantly raising the bar for his West End cafe. There are big things coming for Suburban, and you can only expect its location to soon be a very prominent hub of health. With Vegerama opening up next door, this block is going to soon become the go to for healthies, foodies and those with all types of dietary preferences alike.

There is nothing, NOTHING, more inspiring that meeting passionate people in this industry who are not only interested in eating well but also in working tirelessly to PROVIDE healthy dining options for the rest of us. They are the current trailblazers of the Brisbane food scene and it can only be expected that this sector of the industry has positive prospects for the future, especially Suburban Café.

Suburban Café has very quickly become one of my favorites – this is with no doubt from the service, quality and rationality behind the menu and the produce they are serving. My breakfast and coffee were absolutely delicious and provided me with a perfectly balanced start to the day. Even down to using Organic Soy milk and my favourite ever sour dough from the local Solbreads organic bakery.

ALSO – BEST NEWS is that Surburban have started Acai! YEP! Amazonia Co Smoothies and they are pumped full of superfoods, super berries and super goodness!

There are plenty of positive changes already underway for Suburban, including the introduction of an organic coffee blend before the years end plus many, many more! Its all exciting times on little Melbourne Street that is for sure!

Suburban has fantastic atmosphere and delicious food! The staff are friendly and helpful, and I was thrilled to see lot's of vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options on the menu. I recommend the fritters- yummy!
Patty
It's a great experience every time you visit. The food is beautiful - homemade hot smoked salmon, hand cut chips, slow roasted meats, and crafty vegetarian options. Suburban is not your typical cafe, their creative menu and exception food quality is way above the bar than many cafes in the area I have been to.

AND not just the food - the coffees and warm drinks are always changing as the friendly staff come up with new ideas. It feels like a family owned establishment because there is a lot of heart and soul here.

It's a foodie must.
RPM
West End is fast becoming an excellent spot for drinking a few brews or enjoying some delicious eats and I'm really loving the vibe it has now, possibly more than any other part of the City. I've said it before but breakfast food is an absolute winner in my books and if you make it an all day affair like Suburban do then it's a double win for me!I've dropped into Suburban a few times now both for an early breakfast and later for brunch and each time the service and food have been great with some really friendly staff providing table service.
Georgia Smith
Really nice food and great service :) They have reasonable prices and a really good range of breakfasts and lunches. A great improvement over the last 6 months!
Kate Newton
My go to dish is the haloumi! It's cooked perfectly and the pumpkin just melts in your mouth.. Add a poached egg or two ;)
Other great dishes are the pulled pork omlette, avo stack or the pancakes!
The coffee is also to die for - I get a latte on zymil milk.. If you dare try the supernova (it's XXL) I had it before a day of hiking and it was just the hit I needed

Laura Muller
Wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. This is the kind of place you spend every sunday morning, working your way through the menu. Hunter`s Omelette and a Ginger Nektar juice next please!
Rob McAndrew
Service was great, food was really nice and they make a great coffee! They offer plenty for what you pay but the meals just hit the spot.

Not much more you can ask for from a fantastic little cafe when looking for a nice breakfast!
Benson C
I was recommended this place by a friend .Consistently the best breakfasts in town! I highly recommend the stacks. Service was prompt with a smile.
Renee Huddy
The food was fantastic, arriving quickly and looking easily as good as it tasted. The service was also great. Very friendly staff who are polite and efficient and the owner even came and had a chat and laugh with us, too. Very welcoming atmosphere.

I would definitely go back there. Some of the best eggs benny I've had and I've sampled a few. ;) Not to mention the coffee was brewed to perfection as well!

Suburban Cafe in West End have dramatically increased their social media presence in the past couple of months. They boast tasty food with plenty of vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options. They are situated close to many other cafes, the competition is fierce! But I think that Suburban Cafe is a force to be reckoned with!!
Milla
Came here for a late breakfast with a friend, very easy to find this place and a nice location. We decided to sit outside because we like the atmosphere. I ordered a cappuccino and avocado and fetta on thick sourdough and added a feta and chive hash. The coffee was really good, and I didn't need to add more sugar to it lol I usually do. The breakfast was amazing. The bread and avocado were fresh. The hash was very filling and for the price it was quite generous. The staff were very nice and our waiter was quite cute! Would definitely go back to try something else :)
Amanda Harris
The pre-made hollandaise from a bottle is a dealbreaker for me.
Boaskip
Nice little brekky and lunch gem. Timely/friendly service, organic and palatable coffee, very nice and generously portioned food choices for a reasonable price. Give it a go!

It’s a pretty good breakfast spot with lots of healthy and fresh menu options but for the sweet tooth’s out there, there’s some naughty options for you too! Suburban cafe’s all day menu features many gluten free and vegetarian options making it suitable place to go out with those friends of yours who are health conscious/allergy stricken/animal loving/picky eater people.

For me, i am always down for some avo on toast or poached eggs, so when you can get it all in the same meal i’m pretty set.
Glutenfree.Brisbane
So glad we found this place!. Menu looked so good so we couldn’t wait to try. Wasn’t too busy on Sunday which was nice as we didn’t have to wait to be seated. Menu is a nice mix of old favourites as well as some new and exciting dishes. Lots of Gluten Free, Vegetarian and Vegan options which is always appreciated. We had the Zucchini fritters with a side of Haloumi and the Haloumi and Pumpkin Salad with a side of the potato cake. They both looked amazing, nice big portions and the prices were great. Yummy, fresh and interesting. I think next time I will get a side of eggs with the fritters as they could have done with a slightly saucier sauce and the tomato relish they came with did not stretch to cover all 3 of the fritters. Iced lattes were nice and big and perfect for a warm morning. Really appreciated the 10% discount for students which you just don’t get very often. We also bought a bliss ball at the register which was yum. Staff were friendly and helpful, although maybe could have been a touch more attentive. Definitely one to watch as I think they can only get better and better. Can’t wait to come back to try the rest of the menu!

Suburban Cafe - South Brisbane. Practically on the boarder of West End - if there was a border - is this ever-so popular eatery that always seems to have clientele. They do a wise choice of placing the door at a 90 degree angle to the road so there is the charm of al fresco if that is so how the diners choose to eat while not being drowned in noise from the busy traffic. One mid-morning, I met up here with my friend of a bit of brunch and it was the ideal place: the food may not be exciting, innovative fare but it is well-made and the proporitions are generous.

Service is very prompt here, even just browsing the menu outside you are approached and asked if you want a table. I found the staff here to be pleasant; the favourite moment was after my coffee order came to the table the brief look on the waitress' face - I faced up to the challenge to get a Supernova cup of coffee which is a triple-shot of the drink (cappuccino) choice in a super-sized mug. There was no way I would not accept trying it.
Suffice to say, this cup lasted me the entire meal and was pretty good. It offered a cummulative build up buzz, with a pleasant taste and creamy texture. One thing is safe to say though, and that is I had a huge smile on my face as a result.

My meal order was the French toast stack. Essentially, a couple of slices of French toast topped with bacon and banana with a drizzle of maple syrup. On the side I got a berry compote to drizzle over the dish.
It was very good, with various co-operating flavours: the banana was caramalised and sweet, there was a slight eggy flavour from the toast and having a tart taste from the berry compote added variety to the still-sweet maple syrup. Adding to that was of course, the bacon. The salty flavour somehow combines really well and even compliments the sweet flavours, especially the banana. It is not for all tastes, but I find it enjoyable.

Suburban is one of those places that appears to aim for the crowd-pleasing factor. It does that, but in being a crowd-pleaser it does not succumb to being bland. There is effort put into making the place enjoyable and enticing people to get coffee and food. The popularity is well-earned and good luck to them for gaining further good reception.

The food is outstanding. I ate the fritters and Reis the bircher muesli. As you may recall, fritters are my favourite breakfast meal (see my recipe for gluten-free healthy fritters with chile guacamole). Suburban Cafe’s fritters are certainly competing with my favourites at Delicatezza, although I think I prefer Delicatezza’s sides. The portion size is larger than that at Delicatezza, so definitely brunch appropriate and a nice surprise when the prices are quite reasonable.
